The soccer icon officially confirmed that he is now a character on “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves” months after he teased fans about his new venture last year.

Cristiano Ronaldo has added another first to his portfolio after he broke the record for gaining the most YouTube subscribers in 90 minutes last August.

The former Manchester United forward has officially joined the roster of playable fighters in the upcoming game, “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.” 

Known for his immense popularity on social media, Ronaldo announced the news to his 115.1 million followers on X and shared a trailer on his Instagram account, where he boasts an astounding 651 million followers. 

He will feature a soccer-themed set of attacks and his iconic goal celebration in the game. Ronaldo’s addition marks a significant moment for the “Fatal Fury” franchise. The game was originally launched in 1991 and was created by Takashi Nishiyama, the mind behind the original “Street Fighter.”

Although the series gained immense popularity in the 1990s, its last original installment was “Mark of the Wolves”, released in 1999, with several ports appearing in recent years.

In this new chapter, Inside Gaming confirmed that Ronaldo will be voiced by Juan Felipe Sierra, further blending the worlds of sports and gaming.

News of the new Fatal Fury game, “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves,” broke out in 2022 during a major fighting game tournament, marking the franchise’s first release in over 20 years.

Alongside the Portuguese, the game will also feature iconic Street Fighter characters Ken Masters and Chun-Li in its initial season of downloadable content.

The famous football player had previously hinted at his connection to the game in September 2024 with a teaser that suggested a “legendary player joins a legendary game.”

This new installment of the game will also be showcased at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this summer, where Ronaldo plays for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Last year, Paul admired the soccer player’s impressive achievement of gaining the most YouTube subscribers in 90 minutes.

According to The Blast, the professional boxer praised the soccer star for his impressive achievements, expressing excitement over his potential content on the platform.

However, the boxer believes that Ronaldo cannot compete with Mr Beast’s extensive reach on the platform. Paul predicted that Ronaldo’s rapid subscriber growth may soon decline and will not threaten Mr Beast’s status.

Interestingly, while Ronaldo may struggle in the streaming realm, he significantly outpaced Mr Beast on Instagram, where he had a massive 637 million followers back then compared to Mr Beast’s 60 million.

Ronaldo has established himself as a leading figure in social media influence, becoming the highest-earning account on Instagram last year.

He pulled an astounding income of $2.4 million per sponsored post. This remarkable figure placed him far ahead of the second-highest earner, Kylie Jenner, who made $1.8 million per post.

His Instagram account features collaborations with numerous prestigious brands, such as LiveScore, Therabody, and the cryptocurrency company Binance.  In 2019, Ronaldo ranked third on the Instagram Rich List, earning approximately $970,000 per post.

The competition in social media earnings remains fierce, as seen in the 2022 Rich List, where his rival, World Cup champion Lionel Messi, secured the third position with earnings of $1.77 million per post, slightly ahead of Selena Gomez, who earned $1.73 million.

As of last year, the model remained the most followed person on Instagram, with an impressive 637 million followers (now at 651 million). Soccer star Lionel Messi, with 504 million followers following in second place.

Pop sensation Selena Gomez ranked third with 424 million followers. Just behind Gomez, Kylie had 397 million followers, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson rounded out the top five with 395 million. 

The list of the top ten most followed individuals on Instagram in 2024 was completed by Ariana Grande at 377 million and Kim Kardashian at 361 million. Beyoncé also appeared on the lineup with 316 million, Khloe Kardashian at 307 million, and Justin Bieber with 293 million followers.
