Days of Our Lives sees Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) finding out that Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) lied, that happens very soon. And at the same time, his ex, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien), is also coming to town. Is there a perfect storm of breakup and makeup that will swap him from one woman to another? We’re going to talk about what happens when the forgery is finally revealed and what it does to Xander and Sarah’s marriage. And how Gwen’s timely return could make everything worse for the family.
Days of Our Lives: Relationship Breaking Points and Shocking Revelations
So, there are several events occurring over the next few days to few weeks. They’re going to push many relationships to the breaking point. As we left Days this week, Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) walked out of the Kiriakis mansion angry, saying he was going to quit Titan because of the Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) thing.
And then he went to confront Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein). Meanwhile, Sarah came home to the mansion horrified to find out her worst fear had manifested. Xander went ahead and accused Philip of sleeping with Stephanie. And Alex got an earful.
Of course, Stephanie was shocked when Sarah suggested that she tell Alex she and Philip hooked up a couple of times, but it’s done like, ah, no big deal, just say you did it a couple of times.
And then on Friday’s episode, Sarah’s chatting with Xander. And she’s kind of freaking out. Then she and Philip find a corner somewhere to whisper in. They’re waiting, they’re worrying. And they’re wondering what Stephanie will tell Alex and how he’s going to react and what he’ll do.
Days of Our Lives: Stephanie Comes Clean?
No way is Stephanie going to say she cheated on Alex with Philip, not even once or twice. That’s off the table for certain. And Stephanie’s going to tell Alex she and Philip are keeping a secret along with Sarah. And it’s a big one about Xander. I do imagine that Stephanie is going to go ahead, get it all off her chest, and come totally clean. She’s going to reveal Philip’s fraud, is my guess.
Now, I think Stephanie has just been pushed into a corner to the point where she’s just done with all the lies, she’s over it. This was a mess that Philip created. And there’s no reason that Stephanie should be left to clean it up, because Sarah didn’t have to put herself into this situation either.
Days of Our Lives: Alex’s Dilemma – Will He Expose Philip’s Deception to Xander?
So with Stephanie spilling a whole big pile of beans to Alex, what’s he going to do with this information? I mean, obviously, he’s going to want to run straight to Xander and tell him that Philip stole half his inheritance. And there’s three reasons why Alex would do that to Philip.
First of all, Alex still feels guilty that Teresa stole Xander’s birthright and gave it to him. And then Alex, if you remember, squandered a big pile of Xander’s cash on dumb stuff because he thought it was his money to spend. He bought that spendy sports car, matching $100,000 watches for him and Teresa, all sorts of tacky stuff and nice stuff, and you know, just expensive stuff. Xander never held any of that against Alex either, he was very decent about it. But Alex hates that this happened to Xander.
So the second reason he wouldn’t keep quiet is that Alex didn’t like that Philip took Xander to court to start with. And Alex was team Xander that whole time. And you know, that was back to Alex thinking Xander didn’t deserve another round of someone trying to steal his inheritance. The third point, and this is very important, Alex does not like Philip, not one bit. The guy was always rubbing it into Alex’s face that he was seeing Stephanie on Days of Our Lives. And he was misleading and implying that things were more serious with them to drive Alex away.
DOOL: Midnight Kiss
Do you remember New Year’s Eve at the DiMera Mansion party? Philip was kissing Stephanie at midnight, but he had his eyes wide open and was making eye contact with Alex. It was creepy as heck. And that kind of describes Philip to a tee: terribly gorgeous, terribly creepy.
So yeah, Alex is going to definitely want to turn around and tell Xander after Stephanie comes clean. And I’m guessing that she may advocate for secrecy, caution, slowing his role, you know, at least to some extent. And she may tell Alex the reasons that Sarah had for keeping the forgery a secret. So we’ll see if Stephanie can convince Alex to at least hold off.
Days of Our Lives: May Sweeps Preview – Xander’s Heartbreak and Gwen’s Return
May Sweeps kicks off April 24th, so you know, less than a month, it’s only a few weeks away. I suspect Philip might avoid consequences for a little while longer because Alex may actually come and confront Philip to see what he has to say before he goes to Xander.
That way, Alex can see what Philip has to say for himself. And we may wind up with a scenario where Sarah and Philip are both pleading their cases to Alex to keep quiet about the fraud. But long term, you know, we know it’s not going to go that way, it’ll all come out.
So look for Xander to be crushed by the awful truth, probably during May sweeps. He’s going to break up with Sarah and break up with Philip. You know, we’re going to see a heartbreaking, big, old, gooey-centered Xander in shock that his wife and his brother lied to his face. We all know Philip went into this selfishly with the prodding from Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow).
Days of Our Lives: Xander and Sarah Separate?
So we’ve heard from our leaker that Xander dumps Sarah, but they don’t divorce, they just separate. Xander is devastated, he can’t look at either of them, not his wife, not his brother. So Philip is going to slink out of town according to our leaker, but Sarah’s going to stick around, but she’s not going to have any luck reconciling with Xander. Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers), of course, is going to be horrified. And that is where the stage is set when Gwen Rizczech comes back in July to Salem.
She is also, according to the leaker, coming back to town with some big bucks in the bank. And maybe she scored some cash from Dimitri von Leuschner DiMera (Peter Porte)’s family. If you recall, Gwen and Xander were once really into each other, and then things fell apart.
He wanted sweet Sarah, and Gwen was jealous because, you know, she had a dodgy personal history. And Sarah was your quintessential good girl with a nice mom and a medical degree and was uncorruptible back then. Not so much now, not anymore.
Days of Our Lives: Gwen’s Opportunity – Will She Capitalize on Xander’s Vulnerability?
So by the time Gwen comes back this summer, she’s going to see that Xander and Sarah are split. And she’s going to find out that his wife lied to Xander, you know, this woman who’s supposed to be so moral and so ethical and so much better than Gwen. So I wouldn’t be surprised if she immediately made a play for Xander.
Not only did Gwen really like him, but she’s been where Xander is now. If you remember, Gwen was betrayed by her husband Dimitri, who was cheating with her best friend Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart).
So the two people closest to her betrayed her. Likewise, Xander was betrayed by a spouse and someone else he cared for, his brother. Now, they weren’t engaged in infidelity of the sexual sort, but marital infidelity of the emotional and trust sort. You know, and Sarah should be worried when Gwen hits Salem because I feel like she would take advantage of this separation if she could.
DOOL: Philip Kiriakis Returns?
We’ve also heard that Philip is back this fall looking to heal the rift and make things right with his brother Xander, and he also supposedly is advocating on Sarah’s behalf since his fraud ruined their once really solid marriage. So we’ll see if Gwen makes any progress once she returns.
Xander is going to be in a very hurt and angry and vulnerable place, which is the perfect spot for a schemer like Gwen to slip in and take advantage. And Sarah, of course, will be worried, but she can’t do much if Xander won’t listen to her anymore because she has destroyed their trust.
