Sometimes a simple appointment can take a turn nobody sees coming. That’s exactly what Robin Phillipssays happened when she brought her young daughter to a Detroit hairstylist she found on social media. What started as a routine hair appointment quickly turned into a tense and frightening situation that Phillips says left her and her child scrambling to get out safely.
According to Robin Phillips, she arrived at the stylist’s home expecting to pay the discounted price advertised online. After completing both hairstyles, however, the stylist allegedly demanded a higher payment than they had originally discussed. When Phillips questioned the sudden price increase, she says the argument quickly escalated.
Phillips told Fox 2 that while holding scissors, the stylist allegedly threatened to cut her child’s hair if she didn’t pay the new amount. “If you’re not going to pay me, then I’m going to cut your child’s hair,” Phillips recalled the stylist saying during the confrontation.
Situation Escalates With Alleged Gun Threat
Phillips says the situation escalated when the stylist reportedly ran upstairs and returned with what appeared to be an AR-style gun. Video obtained by the outlet shows the hairstylist—whose face was digitally blocked—holding the weapon while continuing to demand payment. Phillips claims the stylist then told her she wasn’t leaving until she handed over more money.

Phillips Left Distraught After Alleged Threats
Fearing for their safety, Phillips says she handed the stylist nearly everything she had on her. In the footage, the stylist can also be heard telling Phillips to leave while allegedly threatening to shoot her. Phillips later files a police report and says the entire ordeal left her “distraught,” adding that she wishes they could have handled the dispute “like adults.” Authorities have not confirmed whether police have located or arrested the hairstylist.

With box-office ceilings having dropped in recent years, movies that would have been expected to gross $1 billion worldwide now tap out at around $800 million. The biggest impact of this recession was felt by films such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Jurassic World Rebirth, which fell short of their respective predecessors by around 20%. However, a couple of years ago, one sci-fi movie exceeded expectations and delivered the second-biggest worldwide haul of its franchise. The movie not only proved to be a major box office hit, but has also done very well on home video. This streak continued recently, when it debuted on HBO Max in several overseas markets and promptly claimed the streamer’s global viewership crown.
The movie featured a cast including a handful of future stars such as Isabela Merced, Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, and others. It also served as something of a comeback for its director, who was coming off a failed franchise reboot — The Girl in the Spider’s Web. The movie in question earned positive reviews and was praised for returning the franchise to its horror roots. The franchise was launched over four decades ago by Ridley Scott, who served as one of the producers on the new film. Scott has maintained control of the franchise’s creative direction, having previously worked for several years on a new installment with District 9 director Neill Blomkamp set to helm. However, that project fell apart, and Blomkamp didn’t have the warmest words for his experience.

Here’s the Sci-Fi Hit That Saved a Franchise in 2024
The movie in question, of course, is Fede Álvarez‘s Alien: Romulus, which resurrected the long-running Alien franchise after Scott’s Alien: Covenant underperformed in 2017. Romulus grossed $350 million at the worldwide box office in 2024, and was followed by Noah Hawley‘s acclaimed Hulu series Alien: Earth in 2025. A sequel to Romulus is in the works, although Álvarez has said that he will not return. Romulus earned mostly positive reviews and is now sitting at a “Certified Fresh” 80% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The website’s consensus reads, “Honoring its nightmarish predecessors while chestbursting at the seams with new frights of its own, Romulus injects some fresh acid blood into one of cinema’s great horror franchises.” Romulus made it to the number one spot on HBO Max before dropping down to a still respectable number five on the global HBO Max charts.

“The reunion was so brutal. In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward. I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me. It felt a little bit like a dog pile,” she told Variety in October 2025. “I don’t know when they will start filming. I hope they never tell me.”
She confirmed her exit one month later. “I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially. I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health,” she told Bustle.

Emma said she didn’t want to make an official statement. “I’ll never say never. I don’t like when people say they’re not going to join the show and then they do. I’ve heard that so many times where people are like, ‘I’m never coming back.’ And they’re back every season,” she added. “A lot of people have done and said that — I’m not naming names.”
She continued: “I’ve actually never said it but I’m at a point where I’m really happy with my life. I love my family. I’ve been trying to spend more time with them. I enjoy being home with the family and I’ve been on the East Coast a lot this year, which has been really nice for me.”

“I still work at the Oppenheim Group. Getting ‘fired’ was just a dramatic story line,” she wrote via Instagram in October 2025. “I wasn’t privy to [it] until I saw the episode where the cast was told I was let go.”

Nicole then hinted she could return in season 10, telling Netflix’s Tudum, “My new priority will be Nashville, but it definitely won’t be goodbye to L.A. real estate.”
A source exclusively told Us in March 2026 that Nicole would not be returning to the reality show for the new season.

“I came in midseason. So, I just wish I was introduced before,” she told Us in October 2025. “I don’t come from that world and I am a big personality, but these people had a lot of history with one another. ‘Ace in the Hole’ (1951)

“I don’t go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.” Ace in the Hole is a satirical drama from Billy Wilder with strong hints of film noir. It features Kirk Douglas as a cynical journalist who stumbles upon a man trapped in a cave (Richard Benedict) and manipulates the situation into a media spectacle to revive his career. This setup becomes the springboard for a study of the darker sides of ambition and public fascination. These themes continue to ring true today, perhaps even more than they did in the ’50s.
Much of the movie’s success comes courtesy of Douglas’ fierce performance. Here, he’s charismatic, ruthless, and deeply flawed, making the character both fascinating and repellent. He’s handed a tight, smart script that maintains its momentum and serves up more than a few great lines. All in all, while Ace in the Hole was not popular in its own time, it remains a sharp critique of media sensationalism.

‘The River’ (1951)

“The river flows and we must follow.” Directed by French legend Jean Renoir, The River tells the story of a British family living along the Ganges in India, seen through the eyes of a young girl (Patricia Walters) coming of age amid cultural encounters, personal loss, and quiet discoveries. Rather than being a conventional narrative, the movie consists of a series of reflections on childhood, change, and the passage of time. The storytelling is gentle and observational, touching on universal experiences of growing up. As a result, despite being rooted in a very specific moment, The River feels timeless.
In addition, the movie stands out with its extraordinary sense of atmosphere and place. Renoir richly captures the rhythms of life along the river, showing festivals, daily routines, and the changing seasons. The lush Technicolor photography brings the landscape to life, making the natural environment feel almost like another character in the story.

‘The Lavender Hill Mob’ (1951)

“I’m not a criminal. I’m an entrepreneur.” The Lavender Hill Mob is one of the defining comedies from British production company Ealing Studios. It follows a mild-mannered bank clerk (Alec Guinness) who devises an elaborate plan to steal gold bullion and smuggle it abroad by melting it into souvenir statues. But as the scheme unfolds, unforeseen complications naturally arise, leading to a series of comedic misadventures that test the conspirators’ ingenuity. A big part of the fun comes from watching the characters’ carefully laid plans unravel spectacularly.
The movie continues to hold up today because the pacing is brisk and the script is clever. The plot moves quickly from set piece to set, buoyed by a constant stream of witty dialogue. Plus, the film benefits enormously from Guinness’ performance. Instead of portraying the mastermind as a typical criminal, he plays him as timid, polite, and almost painfully ordinary. This contrast drives much of the humor.

‘The African Queen’ (1951)

“Nature, Mr. Allnut, is what we are put in this world to rise above.” The African Queen is one of the major works by director John Huston. The story pairs a rough riverboat captain (Humphrey Bogart) with a prim missionary (Katherine Hepburn) as they journey through treacherous waters during World War I. Their unlikely partnership evolves into mutual respect and affection over the course of their daring mission. While that premise might not sound like anything special, the film succeeds due to the sheer megawatt star power and the chemistry between the leads.
The characters begin as complete opposites: Charlie is scruffy, cynical, and fond of drinking, while Rose is disciplined, determined, and morally upright. Watching these two personalities clash, cooperate, and gradually grow closer is endlessly entertaining. The character development is very satisfying. Not to mention, the plot is filled to the brim with adventure, with danger dogging the protagonists at every turn.

‘An American in Paris’ (1951)

“Why can’t you behave?” This is one of the great musicals, a colorful extravaganza boasting some of the decade’s most enjoyable music and dance routines. The story focuses on an expat painter (Gene Kelly) pursuing both artistic success and romantic fulfillment in postwar Paris. There, he falls in love with a young French woman, Lise (Leslie Caron). Kelly is great in the part, turning in a physical and incredibly expressive performance that’s heightened yet still feels emotionally real.
Acting aside, An American in Paris simply wows with its choreography (also handled by Kelly). The most famous sequences are the provocative chair dance and the extended ballet finale, which lasts nearly seventeen minutes. In this ambitious dream sequence, the sets and costumes are designed to resemble famous styles of French painting, including Impressionism and other artistic movements. The result is a breathtaking fusion of dance, music, and visual art.

‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ (1951)

“Klaatu barada nikto.” The Day the Earth Stood Still begins with the arrival of an alien visitor, Klaatu (Michael Rennie), and his imposing robot Gort, who land in Washington, D.C., bearing a warning for humanity. Klaatu seeks to communicate a message about the dangers of violence and the need for global cooperation in the atomic age, but governments react with fear and suspicion. At the time, this premise bucked sci-fi convention, presenting the extra-terrestrial not as a fearsome invader but a moral messenger.
The imagery is striking and went on to be influential, helping to define the look of sci-fi. Sure, these visual effects are very dated now, but the themes are still relevant, speaking to Cold War anxieties yet offering a broader commentary on fear, responsibility, and the possibility of change. Klaatu’s warning serves as a metaphor for the dangers of unchecked militarism and paranoia, especially when it comes to nuclear weapons. Despite that bleakness, the movie is fundamentally hopeful.

‘A Place in the Sun’ (1951)

“I love you… I love you… I love you.” Montgomery Clift leads this one as George Eastman, a young man who rises from poverty and becomes entangled in a romantic triangle between a wealthy socialite (Elizabeth Taylor) and a factory worker (Shelley Winters) who becomes pregnant. He struggles with ambition and desire, and his choices eventually lead to devastating consequences that test his character. The story that follows is emotionally intense and deeply tragic.
This might have been a little overwhemingly grim were it not for the stellar performances. Clift plays George as sensitive and conflicted, a man torn between love, ambition, and desperation. Meanwhile, Taylor is typically memorable in her part, bringing elegance and idealism. Their dynamic crackles with romantic energy. Director George Stevens knows how to shoot his stars, using evocative lighting, close-ups, and carefully composed frames to heighten the emotional tension, winning the Best Director Oscar for his efforts.

‘Strangers on a Train’ (1951)

“Crisscross.” Here, Alfred Hitchcock adapts Patricia Highsmith‘s novel into a terrific psychological thriller, built on the sturdy foundation of a screenplay co-written by Raymond Chandler. Strangers on a Train centers on two men (Farley Granger and Robert Walker) who meet by chance and discuss the idea of exchanging murders to avoid detection. When one of them takes the conversation seriously, the other becomes trapped in a psychological nightmare as he struggles to escape the consequences of a pact he never intended to honor.
Hitchcock’s directorial brilliance is on display the whole way through. Here, he uses visual storytelling, clever editing, and carefully staged sequences to build white-knuckle suspense. Scenes such as the chaotic carousel climax and the famous tennis match, where Bruno’s still gaze contrasts with the crowd’s moving heads, demonstrate his mastery of cinematic tension. While it opened to mixed reviews, Strangers on a Train is now ranked among the Master of Suspense’s very best films.

Their apartment sooms becomes a pressure cooker of tension and desire, as Blanche’s fragile illusions collide with Stanley’s harsh realism.
The result is one of the great ensemble dramas, with practically everybody turning in a phenomenal performance. Indeed, Leigh, Hunter, and Karl Malden would all win Oscars for their work. Vampires movies have been around since the beginning of the horror genre. With an undead force stalking its victims in the dark, the subgenre feels like a mashup of zombie movies, slashers, and creature features, while being something so much more. Sometimes vampires are purely there to scare, other times they’re sympathetic, and often sensuality and romance are involved, with a once living person now cursed by an insatiable desire.

‘Nosferatu’ (1922)

There is no list like this that does not begin with Nosferatu, the first ever vampire movie. Although it’s an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker‘s novel Dracula, director F.W. Murnau is not restrained. Nosferatu follows familiar beats, with Max Schreck as Count Orlok, a vampire who travels across the ocean to Germany, complete with a plague in tow. Once he lands, he sets his sights on Ellen Hutter (Greta Schröder), the only woman who may be able to bring an end to his terror.
Nosferatu is a course in filmmaking and how to overcome limitations. Because it’s 1922, this is a silent film, meaning that the film must succeed based on its visuals. Murnau uses German Expressionism, a form of storytelling with the emotion layered on the screen through the use of lighting and twisted shapes. Nosferatu is filled with dark corners and elongated shadows, like the terrifying shots which show Orlok’s visage lit against a wall, or in a brilliant moment, his long hand reaching out. Max Schreck becomes the character, so much so that his peculiar performance led to the biopic Shadow of a Vampire starring Willem Dafoe. With his long face, pointy ears, and rat-like teeth, Orlok will send chills down your spine from a century away. There have been reboots of Noseferatu, but none did so much with so little.

‘Dracula’ (1931)

The most famous vampire movie ever made came nine years later withTod Browning‘s Dracula. The plot is close to what Nosferatu had already done, except with the addition of Van Helsing (Edward Van Sloan) as the famed vampire hunter, and a much different representation of the villain. Rather than being monstrous, the titular Dracula, with Bela Lugosi in the role, is a suave, sophisticated antagonist with his cape, bow tie, and slicked back hair. He’s portrayed as more man-like than a horrendous creature. The pop culture representations of Dracula now, from the Hammer films to the Count in Sesame Street, started here. Bela Lugosi IS Dracula, no matter how many other adaptations there have been.
Notably, this is the first variation of Dracula to appear on-screen with sound, allowing the audience to hear what the Count sounds like with his thick, rolling, hypnotic accent. Browning nails the gothic horror aesthetic while continuing to employ the German Expressionism-like style of filmmaking that focuses on shadows and atmosphere. The director also takes his time, letting the dread slowly build, and using the tension of silence to great effect. Maybe Dracula is dated for some modern audiences, but this is the most iconic vampire movie and always will be. Dracula is a moving history lesson playing out right in front of your eyes.

‘Let the Right One In’ (2008)

There were countless vampire movies between 1931 and 2008. So why does the Swedish film Let the Right One In find itself on Mount Rushmore? Because it takes everything we know about vampires and turns it on its head, defying expectations to take a well-worn subgenre in a fresh direction. Based on a novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist, Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Solider Spy) directs this unique coming-of-age film about a bullied boy named Oskar (Kåre Hedebrant) in desperate need of a friend. He finds one in an odd girl new to town named Eli (Lina Leandersson). The twist is that Eli is a centuries-old vampire. However, rather than Oskar’s life being in danger, Let the Right One In is a sweet story about friendship and what two people will do for each other.
Vampire movies often relegate the undead to the role of the antagonist. Let the Right One In switches that up by making Eli the hero. She’s a dangerous, bloodthirsty killer, for sure, but she’s written as a creature in pain who needs someone even more than Oskar does. Rather than fearing Eli, both the audience and Oskar fall for her through one shocking twist to the next. Alfredson doesn’t overdo it with his direction. Rather than being too stylish, he stands back and lets the kids tell the stories, dipping in here and there to show the contrast of deep red blood on white snow. It’s a sad story, but Let the Right One In has one of the most messed-up, feel-good endings in horror history.

‘Sinners’ (2025)

Will Ryan Coogler ever make a bad movie? If anything, the writer and director only seems to be getting better, and Sinners proves it. Yet again, he teams up with Michael B. Jordan in what may be his most challenging role yet, because this time, he plays two characters, twin brothers Smoke and Stack. The first third of the movie isn’t a vampire movie at all. Instead, it’s a well-shot period piece about siblings in 1930s Mississippi who start their own juke joint. There’s already enough drama with local racists and the return of love interest Mary (Hailee Steinfeld). Then the vampires show up, led by the terrifying Remmick (Jack O’Connell), and all hell breaks loose.
Sinners made history by becoming the most nominated film in Academy Award history. It more than deserves every single one of them. Coogler’s directing is flawless. Jordan makes you forget that he’s playing two different people on screen at the same time. Veteran actor Delroy Lindo shines. The cinematography is stunning, the costumes impeccable. Sinners has it all. There’s a deep message there about racism. Rather than being a downer of a movie though, Sinners is also a celebration of Black culture, especially with the transformative history of Black music scene. Even if those aspects were missing, Sinners is still a great vampire movie. What puts it on Mount Rushmore is that it’s so much more.
The reality TV personality has rung the bell on her four-year break on the show as she prepares to join the cast for filming right after the negotiations are done and dusted.
The 37-year-old’s “Selling Sunset” exit has been credited for changing the entire trajectory from an authentic production to a less interesting one due to the genuine energy Christine Quinn brought to the show and how well she connected with the viewers.
Inside Christine Quinn’s Return To The Real Estate Series

The show’s tenth season will welcome Quinn back after filming was delayed for her to complete negotiations, four years after she bowed out in 2022. Quinn’s TV comeback comes a few months after Chrishell Stause announced in November that she was leaving the show after nine seasons.
Stause will not be making a return to the series, nor will Nicole Young and Chelsea Lazkani, who joined the show in 2020 and 2022, respectively. Quinn debuted on the show in 2019 alongside Stause, Maya Vander, Heather Rae El Moussa, and Davina Potratz.

Together, they formed part of the Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles, owned by twin brothers Jason and Brett Oppenheim. As noted by US Magazine, she left the show after the conclusion of its fifth season in 2022, stating that her departure was meant to propel her to pursue her own brokerage, which she created with her ex-husband, Christian Dumontet.
The Reality Star Hinted At A Possible Return In February

As shared by The Blast, Quinn got candid about making a return to the show and largely leaned towards being unsure, but noted that talks were being had behind the scenes. According to her, she would always be open to having fun and closing deals on the show, but the entire situation needs to make sense for her as well before she gives a positive nod.
Quinn further revealed that despite exiting the show, she still keeps in touch with some of the cast, like Jason, whom she loves so dearly, alongside other female cast members from the show. The former Netflix star then added that since leaving, she has not watched the show, but she is fully aware that things took a darker turn compared to when she was on the show.
She stated that people have been acting like a veil was lifted off their faces about certain situations she had addressed, where they thought she was being dramatic. According to her: “I had a lot of people that told me, ‘I went back and watched the season over again, and it’s like I was wearing rose colored glasses the first time I saw it.’ And so that does make me feel good.”

Potratz noted that since Quinn left the show alongside other stars like Vander, the tone and balance of the series changed totally. The Blast stated that she described the early cast of the show as the perfect storm of ambition, luxury, and personality, which had been difficult to replicate since they left.
She praised the combination of Quinn’s charming personality, Maya’s calm demeanor and pragmatism, with Potratz’s honest professionalism as a chemistry made-for-TV success. Potratz emphasized that fans loved watching them unravel and find their way back in front of the camera, although what they had was not perfect, it was real.

The former Netflix star dealt with a huge blow in her marriage, two years after she stepped aside on the show, as she filed for divorce from Dumontet in April 2024. Nearly one year after the filing, she revealed in a 2025 interview that people did not really know the things going on in the marriage and how bad things were.
The reality star, who is currently staying in Texas with her son, stressed that she had to relocate because she did not have a choice, and was granted an emergency protective order, but her ex violated that. The reality star and Dumontet’s marriage came crashing down after five years, and what followed was a nasty legal battle. The former couple got into it when the police got involved right after the Netflix alum claimed her estranged husband threw a bag of clothes, which accidentally landed on their son.
While Dumontet denied the incident, he was still arrested on an assault with a deadly weapon charge, but he was eventually released on bond.
