Hayden Panettiere’s Mom Reflects on Her Children’s Deaths
Hayden Panettiere‘s mom, Lesley Vogel, opened up about the sudden deaths of her two children in an emotional sit-down interview.
“It’s a process. And I think it will probably hit me later on,” she told ABC News reporter Rhiannon Ally on the Monday, August 24, episode of Good Morning America.
The interview aired eight days after news broke of the actress’ death at the age of 36. Hayden’s brother, Jansen Panettiere, previously died in 2023 at the age of 28.
“I would say to the haters out there, you don’t have a right to tell me how I mourn the loss of my second child,” Vogel, 70, said during Monday’s interview. “That’s my domain.”
Vogel choked up as she recalled the moment she learned about Hayden’s death. “I was numb. I was just numb,” she admitted. “I just couldn’t feel anything. I still [am] not grasping this is real. It doesn’t feel real. My mind tells me it’s not at times. It’s going to be a process.”
When asked how she moves forward after losing her two children, Vogel was once again overcome with emotion. “I think you just have to find that inner strength,” she said. “I have been knocked down throughout my life and I’m not complaining, because I have the strength to get back up. … It’s how we get back up that defines who we are.”

Vogel, who was estranged from the Heroes alum prior to her death, also told the outlet how she hoped her daughter would be remembered.
“I want Hayden to be remembered for the talented, beautiful, outgoing, intelligent woman she really was,” she said. “But I also want people to understand that it is my belief that she was suffering. Now, that doesn’t make sense. Because when you look at a beautiful career who’s got an incredible career, even though it had its ups and downs, but you look at that big picture and you go, ‘Why would you be suffering?’ People don’t understand that you can have all of this, but that doesn’t mean that’s what’s going on [inside] matches.”
She noted that Hayden “had a very happy life” until she was cast as Claire Bennett on Heroes at 16. “So here she was, the star of a major TV series. But I would say at about 17, I started seeing her going downhill,” Vogel claimed. “As she got older, it wasn’t my voice anymore. I wasn’t in charge of her choices. I tried to give her the best advice I could. But again, you know, any young person, teen, they want to be liberated. And I get that. I did get that.”
Vogel previously opened up to The New York Times about spending time with Hayden one year prior in Los Angeles. “She was in pain,” she told the outlet. “She was afraid. She couldn’t physically function properly.”
Following news of Hayden’s death, Gayle King publicly criticized Vogel’s public statement the loss, which claimed her daughter had “lost her way” amid not staying “true to herself.” Vogel reacted while speaking to the Daily Mail on Saturday, August 22.
The mom, who served as Hayden’s manager when she was a child actor and model, told the outlet that she was “very, very hurt and deeply disappointed” about the criticism’s “lack of professionalism” and compassion. “No one reached out to me before. It’s shameful. It’s unconscionable to me,” Vogel told the outlet on Saturday.
Hadyen’s father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed his daughter’s death in a statement to Us on August 16 after she was found unresponsive in a South Carolina apartment. The late star is survived by her parents and her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, whom she shared with ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.
A cause of death has not been confirmed, however, an autopsy showed “no signs of trauma” contributed to her passing. A local police report claimed that Hayden’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were both in attendance at the scene of her death.
Brian’s attorney told Us in a statement that there were “no signs of foul play” amid an ongoing investigation into Panettiere’s death. Zach later told TMZ that he and Brian had attempted to save Hayden’s life.
“When we went in and tried to wake Hayden up for lunch, we realized she was unconscious,” Zach alleged to the outlet on Friday, August 21. “I immediately called 911, and Brian gave her Narcan. We then jointly performed CPR while 911 was on speaker until Fire and EMS arrived. At that point, we watched as they tried every measure possible to save her life.”
Narcan is a nasal spray “designed to rapidly reverse the effects of a life-threatening opioid emergency,” according to the brand’s website.

Beyond the Gates 2-Week Spoilers Aug 24-Sept 4: Dani Erupts in Fury & Hayley Gets Exposed!
Beyond the Gates two week spoilers see the action kicking is off August 24th, including Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) losing it as she deals with one crisis too many. Plus, Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings) is busted at last when her hubby catches her redhanded.
Let’s dive into what is happening the two weeks of August 24th through September 4th where we will also see Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla) panicking over her psycho ex. We have Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) falling apart and Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) coming clean about his messy past, but the question is to whom?
Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Hayley Gets Her Way
Monday, August 24th on BTG, we’ve got Hayley getting what she wants out of Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob). And since the only thing Hayley is demanding from Ashley is Bill Hamilton’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) discharge papers, it looks like he is in for a homecoming. Of course, Hayley’s planning a whopping big poison dose in Bill’s food or drink or smoothie, but she needs to do it on her own turf away from prying eyes.
Dani and Hayley pile on more hatred for each other. They are raging face-to-face in Bill’s office, picking up from the scene on Friday. And Dani tells Hayley that she can’t understand what Dani and Andre have because it’s rooted in love. But Hayley claps back that it’s so rooted that Dani is always sniffing around her marriage and her man, Bill.
Dani gets called onto the carpet by Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Anita. They are likely questioning her recent words and deeds, and it’s likely about Bill. Still, Dani will insist that she’s just watching out for her daughter’s dad.
BTG Spoilers: Chelsea Terrified
On the one-year anniversary of Chelsea’s kidnapping, she gets more phone calls with heavy breathing and hang-ups. Kat Richardson (Colby Muhammad) took one of the calls on Friday and admitted it’s creepy. Chelsea is in full blown panic mode and tells Kat the calls are not a weird coincidence. Kat is comforting Chelsea.
And this week, Kat heads to the cop shop and tells Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) about the calls. And Kat’s asking Jacob, “What if Allison Bailey (Brianna Roberts) escaped?” Tuesday, August 25th on Beyond the Gates, we’ve got Randy Parker (Maurice P. Kerry) bringing some big big news to Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom), and it’s likely something he found out while tailing Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones).
Randy might have seen Andre visiting at her hotel room or Heather circling Smitty because Heather is taunting Smitty and Martin this week. Heather’s mad that Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning) is the journalist putting her red market ring on the front pages, and Heather may want to silence Smitty permanently. Andre has to confront his past and he gets a text this week from an unknown sender that simply says tick-tock. He stares distracted at the text till Dani says his name to get his attention. No doubt it’s from Heather reminding him time is running out and what she wants from him.
Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Andre Visits Heather
And by the end of the week, Andre is back at her hotel room and Heather says she knew he wouldn’t be able to stay away. Yeah, because she’s making threats. Also, Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) wants to do a major overhaul. We’ll see if it’s about her and Joey, maybe his apartment.
Maybe something with her house that she shared with Doug McBride (Jason Graham) that she barely stays at anymore. We also have June (Jasmine Burke) offering a heartbroken Tyrell Richardson (Jaden Lucas Miller) comfort.
Of course, he’s crushed about Jessica dumping him so maybe his mom can make Tyrell feel better. Wednesday, August 26 on Beyond the Gates, we’ve got Carlton Fitzgerald (Robert Christopher Riley) running into somebody he wasn’t expecting to see.
Maybe it’s Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix). Dani is searching for answers either about Hayley or why Andre is so distracted, but her search is cut short. And Mona has Joey back in her sights, and she’s hustling him again.
Church lady Mona already surprised Joey the last time they played cards, and it looks like she might surprise him again. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) has an emotional conversation with Nicole. This may be about her and Kial Rollins (Greg Vaughan) getting serious, or him and Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson) getting serious, or both.
Heather’s angry and lashing out. So, I think Andre is going to tick her off by rejecting her again. But then again, Heather’s anger may be at Smitty, who is determined to unmask the Impaler, and Heather doesn’t want to be unmasked, and she’s going to go all out to stop him.

BTG Spoilers: Kat & Nicole Spar
Thursday, August 27th on Beyond the Gates. Nicole and Kat are clashing this week, and it may be about the Nikki handbag that Anita warned her would not go over well with Nicole, who doesn’t like nicknames. Plus, that’s what Leslie calls her.
Bill hits up Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) with a proposition. It may be to run the firm while he recovers from his pacemaker surgery. Tomas won’t like that. Also, on Thursday, he goes to Eva Thomas Richardson (Ambyr Michelle) for support, which puts her in the middle and she’s told Tomas before, “Go talk to Kat, not me.”
Eva seems on edge when she finds Kat hanging out with Izaiah Hawthorne (David Lami Friebe) at Orphe Jeans. And Eva greets Cat with some fake enthusiasm and then she covers Isaiah’s face with very loud kisses in front of her. I do wonder if Eva is going to tell her sister Kat that Tomas Navarro (Alex Alegria) stopped by to see her.
A stressed out Andre visits Ted at the office this week and he asks if Andre is in trouble. So, he spills, but I don’t know if he’s going to spill the whole entire truth about Heather, you know, but if he does, he should tell her that she’s terrifying stalking him. And oh, also is Joey’s sister. Somebody asked Ted what’s up with Andre and he does not spill the beans. So, maybe it’s Dani asking. Isaiah may be planning to move things forward with Eva since he shares something with Jacob this week.
Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Naomi Annoys Hayley
Friday, August 28th on Beyond the Gates. We’ve got Hayley not too happy to have Naomi around more and more, and Hayley is hassling her ex-best friend, who is now her resentful stepdaughter. And Hayley is hustling Bill, but she’s finally caught. So, Hayley runs over to meet Randy at Uptown and says, “With any luck, Bill will be dead by the time she gets home.”
Hayley’s laughing and laying her hand on Randy’s arm. So, it looks like Hayley left Bill a poisoned smoothie and planned to stay gone until he croaked. But Bill didn’t stay home. He followed Hayley and he sees her with Randy and looks like he may assume the affair rumors are true. So, Hayley’s about to get blown out of the water. We’ll see what lies she tells Bill while she’s scrambling.
Smitty rat tattles Chelsea and Kat when he unintentionally inspires some anxiety in them. So, it sounds like Smitty might have some disturbing news about Allison. And Smitty might not be the only one because Jacob gets upsetting news from his dad, Elon Hawthorne (Malachi Malik). This could be about crazy Allison or the Impaler.
Anita is unsure about an opportunity and this may be about her voice not coming back after chemo and her and Tracy and Sharon of course have those sessions planned to record Art Techlet’s songs. Vernon is in crisis mode by the end of the week. This may be about protecting Chelsea or about Anita’s frustrations.
BTG Spoilers: Bill Busts Hayley
Then the week of August 31st through September 4th. We’ve got Bill catching Hayley with Randy, of course, so he may talk to Joey or run to Dani. Either way, Bill’s going to have an eye on Hayley and he needs to be careful because Bill’s wife is murderous.
Andre already told Heather that he’ll tell Dani about them. And of course, Heather’s playing cat and mouse, but she won’t stop until Andre is back in her bed. Smitty is in danger. Dani might be in danger, but I bet Andre is safe as long as Heather thinks there’s a chance she can get him back in her bed.
Randy may be tasked to stay on Heather, and he may get some photo proof of what’s going on with her. If Randy gets pics of Andre and Heather, that would be huge. Chelsea gets more news about her stalker ex Allison, as she worries about her and Madison’s safety.
The whole family is likely worried by next week after the updates from Smitty and Elon. Anita continues to struggle with her voice and that could derail the recording sessions with Devon and the Articullettes. Look for more tension between Naomi and Tomas up at the law office as well.

More On Chris Brown’s Royalties & Tour Income & Ex-Housekeeper’s $13M Judgment Following Dog Attack
As The Shade Room previously reported, Maria Avila was attacked by Chris Brown’s 200-pound shepherd in 2020. In July, a jury awarded her a $13 million judgment. This, after she was left with PTSD and severe scarring on her arm and face. Per Brown, he allegedly warned Avila not to go by his dogs without his security guards present prior to the attack.
More recently, earlier this month, Brown asked the court to block Avila’s collection of the $13 million. This, as he continues to tour alongside Usher on their ‘R&B’ tour, which was recently announced to have additional dates.

7 Book Authors Without Many Movie or TV Adaptations
Movies don’t become books nearly as often as books become movies (there are novelizations out there, of course, and also 2001: A Space Odyssey, where the movie came out before the book was published). So, obviously, for books that have become movies, there are endless examples. Certain authors have proven particularly easy (or tempting) to adapt, to the point where it’s easier to find books of theirs that have been adapted than books that haven’t (see Stephen King, for example).
But then you’ve got authors whose work hasn’t really been represented in forms outside the written page. It would be easy to highlight authors who weren’t hugely prolific and still haven’t had much by way of adaptations (like John Kennedy Toole and A Confederacy of Dunces or J.D. Salinger and The Catcher in the Rye), so instead, here are some decently prolific authors who haven’t had many books of theirs adapted into movies or TV shows. That could always change, as time goes on, but at the time of writing, you do have to read (or listen to audiobooks) if you want to experience most of what these authors have put out into the world.
7
Milan Kundera
While Milan Kundera himself wouldn’t agree with this statement, the author’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being was made into a pretty great movie in 1988. The original novel was published several years earlier, and was about a womanizing doctor who only occasionally found genuine emotional engagement with people. And then that original novel was also about lots of other things, with philosophical ideas drifted toward pretty often on Kundera’s part. That was kind of his style in other works of his, too.
But Milan Kundera was not a fan of The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988), and so if that led to no more adaptations of his work… well, there you go. Not that Kundera’s novels and short stories are easily translatable to the big (or small) screen, but a streamlining was done for The Unbearable Lightness of Being in a way that’s worked for some people. No, not the author, but some others. An earlier novel of his, The Joke, also got a movie adaptation almost 20 years before The Unbearable Lightness of Being, but otherwise, most of his works have remained unadapted.
6
James Ellroy
James Ellroy has co-written a couple of screenplays that weren’t technically adaptations of any prior works of his, like Street Kings and Dark Blue. As for his books, the one that’s had easily the most recognizable film adaptation is L.A. Confidential, which is another The Unbearable Lightness of Being-type situation where the film was well-received, but the author himself wasn’t super enthusiastic about how things turned out.
There’s also all the books in the Underworld U.S.A. trilogy, the material there feeling appropriate for a TV series, maybe, if you had someone who really knew what they were doing/adapting, but nothing yet, at the time of writing.
Since L.A. Confidential, The Black Dahlia has also been adapted, and that one didn’t come out nearly as successfully, so the other two books in Ellroy’s L.A. Quartet remain unadapted. There’s also all the books in the Underworld U.S.A. trilogy, the material there feeling appropriate for a TV series, maybe, if you had someone who really knew what they were doing/adapting, but nothing yet, at the time of writing. Ellroy certainly writes cinematic and drama-heavy books, but only those two previously-mentioned ones and a couple of other early novels of his (Blood on the Moon, which became Cop, and Brown’s Requiem) have been turned into films. Like, not as many as you’d expect, all up.
5
Larry Niven
Larry Niven likes writing hard science fiction, and that science fiction also seems to be hard-to-adapt. Sometimes. There are stories of his that feel like they could make the jump to the big or small screen, especially something like Ringworld, which is Niven’s most famous novel. It’s also not a particularly long one, but nothing’s come to fruition.
You can find an article from 2000 that says “Ringworld Movie Around the Corner,” which is kind of funny or sad, depending on your outlook. Traditional rings don’t have corners, after all, so it’s all a bit ironic. Anyway, the novel of Larry Niven’s that might most deserve an adaptation is Lucifer’s Hammer, which is a very compelling post-apocalyptic book he co-wrote with Jerry Pournelle. They collaborated pretty often, so consider this an honorable mention for Pournelle, too, since his work has largely remained on the page.
4
Don DeLillo
There are Don DeLillo books that can be read in very short amounts of time, and one of them, Cosmopolis, did get made into a movie, in 2012. And movies, you know, can also usually be watched in one sitting, so maybe you’d expect a few more Don DeLillo books to have been made into movies, but the only other one is White Noise, which came out exactly one decade on from Cosmopolis.
In both cases, the books were better. When taking that into account, maybe that makes it understandable why he’s not been adapted a lot. Still, Libra could make for a great movie (again, as always, in the right hands), and there’s been talk of Underworld becoming either a movie or series. That one in particular gets a lot of acclaim, yet might well be the most challenging DeLillo book to make into something coherent on screen, since it’s easily the author’s longest work, at over 800 pages in length.
3
Brandon Sanderson
Including Brandon Sanderson here might well age poorly, because he’s built up an immense amount of popularity over the past decade or so, as a fantasy author, and it’s not difficult to find news about works from his Cosmere universe getting adaptations. Mistborn: The Final Empire feels like the logical starting point, since that one doesn’t get too out of control with ambition, and it reads very cinematically while having the kind of structure that would translate well into a movie.
Then there’s also The Stormlight Archive, which is a bigger series than Mistborn, and it feels like television would be the better medium there. Like, barring any disasters, you’ll probably see the original Mistborn trilogy or The Stormlight Archive make their way onto some kind of screen soon. And even if there’s one disaster, you’ll still probably see the other. Brandon Sanderson, at the time of writing, can only be read, but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to say that about his body of work for much longer.
2
Robert McCammon
Some of his books have “Robert R. McCammon” on the cover, while at other times, he’s credited as just Robert McCammon, but neither name will you find in many movie or TV credits, be they opening or closing. He is not an author whose work has been adapted much, for reasons that aren’t all that clear. The one major novel of his that has had an adaptation of sorts is only recent, with a series called Teacup being based on McCammon’s Stinger (1988).
If you go digging, though, there’s an embarrassment of riches within his body of work. McCammon isn’t the greatest author in the world in a literary sense or whatever, but his books are heavy on horror and thrills – all the while generally being well-paced – in ways that make them feel like they’d be no-brainers for either movie or TV adaptations. Swan Song is a great post-apocalyptic novel, Boy’s Life feels like it would make for a great coming-of-age film, and then The Wolf’s Hour is a World War II spy story with almost excessive action and a main character who can turn into a werewolf. In what world do people not want to watch a World War II werewolf/spy movie? It’s The Dirty Dozen or Inglourious Basterds, but with werewolves. Come on, Hollywood!
1
Thomas Pynchon
To the credit of Paul Thomas Anderson, he seems able to adapt Thomas Pynchon. Actually, he’s the only person to have done it so far, on one occasion, or maybe twice, or maybe 1.5 times. Like, Anderson’s Inherent Vice (2014) is definitely an adaptation of Pynchon’s Inherent Vice (2009). The same beats are hit, though the book is a bit more complicated, even though the movie was singled out for being complicated and difficult to follow itself.
The other time, or that other half time, was Vineland (1990) serving as the inspiration for One Battle After Another (2025). That was a much looser adaptation, but the Oscar Paul Thomas Anderson won for writing it was Best Adapted Screenplay, so it counts as an adaptation in the Academy’s eyes. Otherwise, Pynchon’s novels remain novels only. There are seven others (plus a short story collection), and they’re sometimes considered among the best books of their time (especially Gravity’s Rainbow and Mason & Dixon), but there are so many ways adaptations could go wrong. That there are even two (or one and a half) Thomas Pynchon adaptations is kind of remarkable, to be honest.

Shannon Sharpe Embarrasses Enes Kanter On ‘Nightcap’
Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe took aim at Enes Kanter on an episode of his “Nightcap” podcast, accusing the former NBA player of “rage baiting” for attention. Sharpe, alongside Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and former NBA All-Star Joe Johnson, questioned Kanter’s motives after he was ejected from a WNBA game following a heated exchange with Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud.
Sharpe and his co-hosts wasted no time calling out Kanter during an episode of “Nightcap,” saying the former Boston Celtics player only attended to draw attention to himself and make a ruckus. “He probably ain’t never been to no WNBA game. Then go there just to be the agitator, just cause ruckus, just to make the headlines. Come on, bro, what we doing?” Joe Johnson said.
Sharpe didn’t seem as annoyed as others, saying Kanter’s motive is likely to rile people up so he can garner attention. “He’s rage baiting. Then he’s gonna run to Fox News and talk about, ‘See, this is what I’m talking about, they’re not inclusive. They wanna have their cake and eat it too’ and yada yada yada yada yada,” he said.
Sharpe didn’t end there; the 8X Pro-Bowler even came for Kanter’s ability to perform, saying if he “were good,” he’d still be in the NBA. “His own home country don’t want him back,” Sharpe said.
Enes Kanter Ejected From WNBA Game After Getting Into Verbal Altercation With Natasha Cloud
On Sunday, August 23, Kanter was ejected from a Chicago Sky game after getting into a verbal altercation with Natasha Cloud. The moment occurred in the third quarter, and videos show Kanter approaching the baseline with his arms outstretched, jawing back at the WNBA veteran.
Kanter showed up at the WNBA game just weeks after declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft. His declaration came amid a growing controversy over transgender athletes in women’s sports, sparked in part by Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s comments on the topic.
Quite possibly and quite literally the biggest loser in the world https://t.co/GPZAgu3PW0
— Shaun CHAMPION Geddes (@iHateShaun) August 24, 2026
“If simply declaring who you are is all that’s required,” he said, “then I meet every single requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA.” He stated further: “I’m simply asking that the current rules be applied equally to everyone, the rules that represent the very values many WNBA players and coaches have publicly advocated for.”
While attending the game, Kanter wore a shirt with what some have said was an offensive message. “WOMAN noun. adult human female,” the shirt said.
Sharpe Says Enes Kanter Just Wants His ’15 Minutes Of Fame’

The “Nightcap” co-hosts don’t seem entertained by Kanter and his antics, considering Sharpe said the 34-year-old was only doing this to cause trouble.
“People just want their 15 minutes of fame and are just gonna carry on and carry on. I don’t get it. Then you wear the t-shirt knowing [it will] enrage people. I don’t get his angle,” he stated.
After Kanter’s removal, the NBA player spoke with Fox News about the interaction and claimed Cloud made an inappropriate remark toward him. According to him, he began celebrating after Cunningham made a three-pointer. Following that, Cloud allegedly yelled at him, saying, “‘[Sophie’s] not gonna sleep with you.’”
“And I was like, ‘I am not trying to sleep with her. I’m just here to protect women and support her.’ And then, obviously, after that she started yapping, and she started to walk towards me, and literally I just got up, and then I was like, ‘I’m just here to protect women, and that’s all,’” Kanter said.
Kanter ‘Cannot Believe’ Cloud’s Reaction During WNBA Game
Kanter also said he was shocked and surprised by Cloud’s alleged vulgar language, noting that many minor children were at the game.
“She started to yell. She started to use some very heavy language. She started to actually cuss, and I was very shocked that there were a lot of kids and that there were a lot of teenagers at that game,” he said. “I just cannot believe that she was just cussing and using those F-bombs in front of all these kids. I’m sure she’s loved in Chicago, and many kids are idolizing her and stuff, but that’s not how a WNBA athlete should react.”

Martha Stewart Nailed ‘Yacht Wife’ Style — Get the Look for $10

Martha Stewart made a strong case for adding one more striped top to your summer rotation. Her latest look is giving pure ‘yacht wife summer’ energy — the kind of breezy, polished style that belongs on a boat somewhere off the coast of Nantucket. Even better, you don’t need Stewart’s budget (or a yacht) to recreate it.
Stewart shared a fun Instagram post posing on a boat in a crisp red and white striped top, which she paired with skinny white jeans, a fanny pack and a coordinating visor. While we couldn’t track down her exact shirt, we found a similar striped style on Amazon for $10.
Get the Amazon Essentials 3/4-Sleeve Boat-Neck T-Shirt for $10 at Amazon! Please note, prices are accurate as of the publishing date but are subject to change.
The Amazon Essentials 3/4-Sleeve Boat-Neck T-Shirt delivers the same classic nautical feel, right down to the striped pattern that closely resembles Stewart’s. While we adore the red and white stripes, the top also comes in blue, pink, olive green and other versatile options, with sizes ranging from S to XXL.
Made from a soft cotton-modal blend, the semi-stretchy top has a slim silhouette that holds its shape without sacrificing comfort. The boat neckline gives it that polished coastal feel, while the three-quarter sleeves hit at a flattering point on the arm, making it easy to wear alone now or layered under sweaters and blazers later.
Over 1,200 shoppers gave the T-shirt a five-star rating, with one calling it their “absolutely most favorite cut of shirt.” The same reviewer wrote, “The cut is super flattering and the sleeve length is just perfect.” They even admitted to buying them in bulk: “I own six of them (two are duplicate colors. Yes, I love them that much).”
Another shopper who also bought multiple styles praised the tops as “so incredibly soft,” and said they wear them “in all seasons, alone or under sweaters and blazers.”
Stewart’s outfit may have Us dreaming about boat days and coastal getaways, but this affordable find makes her yacht wife aesthetic surprisingly easy to recreate on dry land, too. Pair it with white jeans for the full nautical effect, or style it with linen pants, shorts and sandals for an effortless everyday take on the look.

Rumer Willis’ Health Fears Deepen Amid Bruce’s Dementia
Rumer Willis is refusing to wait until a health crisis forces her to start asking difficult questions.
With her father, Bruce Willis, battling frontotemporal dementia and other serious illnesses appearing in her family history, the actress is embracing genetic testing despite admitting that discovering what could be hiding in her DNA can be frightening.
Now, the 38-year-old is explaining why she believes being proactive is no longer optional, even making the startling declaration that people are “essentially under attack” by the world around them.

For Rumer, knowing more about her health comes with an uncomfortable trade-off. Information could help her make better decisions about her future, but receiving that information can also mean confronting risks she would rather not have.
The actress recently partnered with health membership company Function, which provides access to advanced laboratory testing and other health assessments.
Among the options that attracted her attention was an APOE genetic test, which can provide information about a person’s genetic risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease. Her interest comes against the backdrop of her father’s ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia, as well as other illnesses within her family.
“It’s terrifying to get answers sometimes,” Rumer admitted in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. “Obviously there are genetic things in my family. Not just dementia, I’ve had some family members who have had breast cancer and family members who have had different things.”
Still, the mother-of-one believes fear should not prevent her from learning what she can.
“But I think when you have information, it’s power,” she explained.
Rumer said understanding whether she might be predisposed to certain health problems could allow her to begin addressing factors such as inflammation and heart health rather than waiting for something to go wrong.
Bruce Willis’ Dementia Battle Has Changed How His Daughter Looks At Health

Rumer’s determination to be proactive carries additional emotional weight because her family has already experienced how dramatically health can alter everyday life.
Bruce initially stepped away from acting in 2022 after his family announced that he had been diagnosed with aphasia. In February 2023, they revealed that his condition had progressed and that doctors had reached a more specific diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.
Since then, Rumer has offered candid glimpses into what loving a parent with dementia looks like.
In November 2025, she acknowledged that describing her father as “doing great” no longer made sense within the reality of FTD. Instead, she said he was doing “OK in terms of somebody who is dealing with frontotemporal dementia.”
The changes have not erased their emotional connection. Rumer said she remained grateful that she could hug her father and believed that regardless of whether he recognized her in a particular moment, he could still “feel the love” she gave him.
Months later, she found another perspective on the painful situation. As The Blast previously reported, Rumer revealed that FTD had seemingly brought out a new “sweetness” and “tenderness” in Bruce, giving their family meaningful moments amid an otherwise devastating disease.
Rumer Willis Says ‘We Are Essentially Under Attack’

Genetic testing is only one piece of the actress’ increasingly proactive approach to wellness.
Rumer said she was already interested in brain, gut and reproductive health before Bruce’s diagnosis, but she now believes waiting until a medical problem appears can come at a cost.
“I think health is one of those things that we take for granted until we don’t have it,” she told PEOPLE.
For Rumer, being proactive does not necessarily mean making enormous changes all at once. She pointed to relatively small decisions she has incorporated into her life, including taking supplements, eliminating perfumes and cooking more food at home rather than relying on takeout containers.
The actress acknowledged that those choices can appear insignificant, particularly when social media constantly exposes people to an overwhelming stream of wellness advice.
However, she believes the cumulative effect matters. “We are essentially under attack in this world that we live in,” Rumer declared. “There’s just so many things that we’re constantly combating.”
She then made her position even clearer, saying, “I don’t think it’s really an option anymore to not be proactive about it.”
More From The Blast
- Rumer previously admitted the heartbreaking reality that Bruce is “not doing great” as he continues living with FTD.
- Bruce’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, recently shared a rare update on his condition while discussing the family’s efforts to support him.
- Rumer has previously explained why her family chose to remain transparent about Bruce’s health rather than completely retreat from public discussion.
Rumer Willis Wants To Protect Her Future With Daughter Louetta

Rumer’s motivation is not limited to what genetic testing might tell her about herself.
Motherhood has given the health conversation another dimension because she wants as much time as possible with her 3-year-old daughter, Louetta.
The “Dancing with the Stars” alum welcomed Louetta in April 2023 with her former partner Derek Richard Thomas, only months after her family publicly revealed Bruce’s FTD diagnosis.
Now, watching her father live with a progressive neurological condition while raising a daughter of her own appears to have sharpened Rumer’s focus on longevity.
She explained that one of the most important aspects of becoming proactive is knowing that the choices she makes could affect not just herself, but “my daughter and on my ability to be around for her as long as possible.”
That desire fits with how Rumer has described motherhood more broadly. She recently called Louetta “such a gift” while discussing how becoming a mother transformed her understanding of self-love, patience and personal strength.
It also creates an emotional generational connection with Bruce.
Earlier this year, Rumer spoke about how grateful she was that Louetta has been able to spend meaningful time with her grandfather despite his illness, acknowledging that future children she may have might not receive that same opportunity.
Bruce Willis’ Family Continues Turning His FTD Battle Into Advocacy

Rumer is not the only member of the Willis family whose experience with Bruce’s illness has prompted a larger conversation about health.
His wife, Emma Heming Willis, has increasingly turned her attention toward dementia awareness and caregiver advocacy while continuing to speak candidly about what the diagnosis has meant for their family.
Emma has also emphasized honesty with their daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, explaining that she learned to communicate with them about Bruce’s condition in an age-appropriate way rather than conceal what was happening.
The family has similarly supported research efforts surrounding the disease. Emma announced the Emma & Bruce Willis Fund in partnership with The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, with the initiative aimed at advancing research and raising awareness around FTD.
Research into the genetics of FTD remains complex. The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration notes that most cases are considered sporadic, meaning there is no clear single genetic cause, although some cases are familial and can involve inherited genetic variants.

3 Near-Perfect Series to Binge on Netflix This Week (Aug 24-28)
Dubbed “action-packed but disappointing” in Therese Lacson‘s review for Collider, Outer Banks returned for its fifth and final season last week and immediately stormed to the top of the streaming charts. The return of John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) for one more season of twists, turns, and laughs was always going to be a hit, with no series currently managing to come close to its popularity on Netflix. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other shows worth watching. With that in mind, here are three shows you should binge-watch on Netflix this week.
For more recommendations, check out our list of the best shows and movies on Netflix.

‘Yellowjackets’ (2021–Present)
Rotten Tomatoes: 92% | IMDb: 7.7/10
Not only have we been treated to the first teaser footage for Season 4 of the hit series Yellowjackets, but this past week we learned that it will officially debut on Paramount+ on November 20. Ahead of its arrival, whether you’ve watched before or it has thus far passed you by, why not begin a binge of one of the most indulgent, inventive thrillers of the decade on Netflix?
Following a talented high school girls’ soccer team that becomes stranded in the remote Canadian wilderness after a plane crash, Yellowjackets blends a time-weaving story with some truly terrific performances for a series you won’t want to put down. Having earned 10 Primetime Emmy nominations so far, the series is a huge hit with both fans and critics, with the many twists and turns all culminating in one explosive final season this November.
2
‘Revival’ (2025)
Rotten Tomatoes: 90% | IMDb: 6.5/10
Netflix is known for resurrecting plenty of hidden gems, adding them to its catalog and boosting their popularity. The latest to receive this treatment is Revival, which aired last summer on SyFy and has only been available on PVOD since. Starting Monday, August 24, you can stream each of the show’s 10 episodes on Netflix, making for the perfect week-long binge.
This intelligent supernatural series begins on a seemingly normal day in rural Wisconsin, when the dead are suddenly revived. However, they do not reappear in zombie form; instead, they return seemingly exactly how they were before they died. The task of putting the pieces together on this strange puzzle falls to Officer and single mother Dana Cypress (Melanie Scrofano). Also starring Romy Weltman as Martha, David James Elliot as Wayne, Andy McQueen as Ibrahim, and more, this true 2025 gem should be at the top of your watchlist.
3
‘The Four Seasons’ (2025–Present)
Rotten Tomatoes: 82% | IMDb: 7.2/10
One of the best returning shows on Netflix this year so far has been The Four Seasons, and it’s about time you caught up. This cozy, often hilarious, and always relatable comedy doesn’t just feature Carell and Kenney-Silver; it boasts one of the most exciting ensembles in streaming comedy today, also starring Tina Fey, Will Forte, Marco Clavani, Erika Henningsen, Colman Domingo, Julia Lester, and Ashlyn Maddox. Race Across the World’s Jo Gardiner Dead 1 Year After Son’s Death
Race Across the World star Jo Gardiner has died from cancer at age 61, one year after her son’s death in a car crash.
Gardiner’s family confirmed her death in a statement, telling U.K. outlets Metro and The Independent, that the reality star went through “a long and courageous battle with cancer.”
Gardiner was referred to by her loved ones as “our joy, our safe place and our absolute treasure.”
“We know how deeply Jo was loved, and we take comfort in knowing that her laughter, her courage, her kindness and her wonderfully outrageous spirit will live on in the many people whose lives she touched,” the statement continued. “As we grieve, we ask for privacy, but we also ask everyone who knew and loved Jo to do exactly what she would have wanted: tell the funny stories, raise a glass, have an adventure, laugh loudly and live life to the full.”
While reflecting on Gardiner’s legacy, her family said she “never did things by halves” and called her “one of a kind.”
Gardiner is survived by her son Charlie, according to the Manchester Evening News. Her death comes one year after her son Sam died at 24 after being involved in a car crash.
According to a statement by Greater Manchester Police, Sam was driving in England when his car veered off the road and “rolled before landing on its side” in May 2025.
“Sam left us far too soon, and whilst words will never fully capture the light, joy and energy he brought into our lives, we hold on to the memories that made him so special,” Sam’s parents, Jo and Andrew, wrote via social media at the time. “Sam brought warmth, laughter and a smattering of chaos wherever he went. He leaves behind a huge hole in our hearts. We will miss him endlessly, but we’ll also remember him with smiles, tall tales, and a depth of love that will never fade.”
Sam and Jo previously appeared on season 2 of the U.K. reality competition Race Across the World, which aired in 2020. Throughout the series, the mother-son duo traveled from Mexico City to Ushuaia in Argentina.
“My son and I get on so well and he is desperate to travel, but I’m nervous of him going off on his own,” Jo told BBC at the time. “I want the trip to help him grow, and see how the world works. To watch him experience this will be fantastic. He’s come such a long way and I would love to see him achieve his dreams.”
The social media account for Race Across the World shared a tribute to Jo after her death, offering their “deepest and heartfelt sympathies.”
“Millions of people remembered [Jo and Sam’s] transformative journey across Latin America in 2020 and we hold that memory in our hearts as we fondly recall Jo’s passion for life, her kindness, her strength, and above all her utter devotion to Sam and her family,” read a post shared via X.
The statement continued: “At the time of filming, Sam described his mum as amazing – and that is how we will always remember her. Jo became the matriarch of the Race Across the World cast family, she leaves a lasting legacy in the many lives that she touched, both through the series and beyond. It was a privilege to share her story and she will be deeply missed.”

Fans React To Rosie O’Donnell’s White House ‘Slob’ Response
After the White House called Rosie O’Donnell a “total slob,” she fired back, prompting fans to share their thoughts. On Sunday, Aug. 23, the comedian, actress, and television personality took to Instagram and responded to the jab by sharing a photo.

O’Donnell, 64, who guest-hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week for her talk-show return, shared a snapshot of the US president, 80, with his hair styled sleek back. His white, short-sleeved shirt tucked under blue tailored pants, and secured with a black belt.
“This is the guy calling me a slob #mirrormirror,” O’Donnell wrote in the caption.
Fans Weigh In On Rosie O’Donnell’s Post
In less than a day, O’Donnell’s post received over 1162,000 likes and 10,000 comments. Country singer-songwriter Margo Price wrote, “He’s just jealous! Your pink suit was straight fire. He could never,” while TikTok star Scott Henry remarked, “This made me cackle!! Thank you!”
The third follower noted, “He’s literally the biggest SLOB ever. I love the way you get under his skin, Rosie.” A different user added, “You live rent free in his demented brain, and it’s glorious.”
Another fan told O’Donnell, “You are the most celebrated human in America right now! You are healing us… to quote a @rosieblog throwback YOU ARE YELLOW.”
White House Says Rosie O’Donnell ‘Nasty’ And A ‘Slob’

In a statement shared with PEOPLE on Thursday, Aug. 20, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle called O’Donnell a “nasty woman and a total slob whose brain has been completely destroyed by Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
The White House’s comments about the comedian came after her monologue on Kimmel’s show, and it was when she called Trump “President Petty Roosevelt.” O’Donnell also encouraged him to “hang up your wig” and let White House aide Natalie Harp “tuck you in.”
Rosie O’Donnell Calls Trump ‘Mango Mussolini’

During the week-long appearance on Kimmel, O’Donnell waved to Trump as she referred to him as “Mango Mussolini,” then called him “Oompa J. Loompa.” The actress eventually serenaded the president with a parody of a century-old Irish folk song.
“Poor Donnie boy, your polls, your polls are falling,” O’Donnell sang, referring to Trump’s declining popularity in public polls and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. “Your reflecting pool is green as Mountain Dew. Your wig’s a mess, your ballroom is appalling.”
“The Flintstones” star’s hosting duties concluded on Thursday, Aug. 20, as Kimmel continues his summer break. O’Donnell followed other guest hosts, such as Anthony Anderson, Colman Domingo, Tiffany Haddish, and Ike Barinholtz.
How Did Rosie O’Donnell’s Feud With Trump Started?

O’Donnell’s feud with Trump has spanned around two decades. After an episode of The View in 2006, the comedian and the president began butting heads. During a Hot Topics segment, O’Donnell, who hosted the show at the time, criticized Trump for acting as a “moral authority,” following Tara Conner’s win of the Miss USA title, despite allegations of underage drinking and cocaine use.
“He annoys me on a multitude of levels,” she said. “[He] left the first wife, had an affair, left the second wife, had an affair, had kids both times, but he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America.”
O’Donnell continued, “Donald, sit and spin, my friend. I don’t enjoy him.”
After O’Donnell’s comments, Trump responded by calling her “a woman out of control,” during an interview with PEOPLE. Since then, their feud has only escalated, with the president calling out the comedian several times on social media.

Serayah Accuses Joey Bada$$ Of Cheating In Breakup Statement
Serayah and Joey Bada$$ have called it quits! She dropped the breakup bombshell on Instagram on Monday (August 24) and didn’t hold back the reason! In her statement, the ‘Empire’ star accused Joey of repeatedly cheating on her. She later shared now-deleted audio of him speaking to another woman. He has yet to publicly address the split.

Serayah Exposes Joey Bada$$ In Breakup Statement
Four hours after posting, the breakup statement was still available on Serayah’s IG page. She opened with a comment about a woman choosing herself and why, at certain points in life, it’s necessary. Her second sentence got straight to the point. Serayah revealed she ended her engagement to Joey Bada$$, calling it a “difficult decision.” The ex-couple went public with their romance in 2023 and welcomed their first and only child, a son named Joey, last year.
“I loved deeply, believed wholeheartedly in the life we were building and wanted nothing more than to protect our family,” Serayah said in her statement. “Unfortunately, I had to face a painful truth: there had been repeated infidelity throughout our relationship, including during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of my life.”
Serayah clarified that she wasn’t seeking sympathy, retaliation or to “tear anyone down.” She said her reason for exposing her situation is to encourage the next woman to notice the red flags and take action without questioning herself. “If your intuition is telling you something is wrong, listen to it,” her statement said.
“Don’t make yourself smaller to keep someone else comfortable. Don’t compromise your values because you’re afraid of losing the future you imagined. And don’t allow someone else’s choices to become a referendum on your worth. Love should not require you to abandon yourself.”
She closed her statement by saying she respects sharing a son with Joey Bada$$, adding that the boy’s peace and having a relationship with both his parents are her priorities.
