HBO Max’s 90% Rotten Tomatoes Classic Is the Most Realistic War Movie You’ve Never Seen

On June 6th, 1944, 160,000 Allied soldiers landed on occupied France via parachute, glider, and watercraft, in order to liberate Western Europe from the Nazis. It is an event that is almost legendary in its scale and consequences, so it is little wonder that filmmakers have visited the subject time and again. From The Longest Day in 1962 to Steven Spielberg’s brilliant opening scene in Saving Private Ryan, directors have used the beach landings to show heroism and bravery against harrowing odds.

While there certainly were heroes on that terrible day, those stories were not what interested British director Stuart Cooper when he set out to make his own D-Day film, 1975’s Overlord. Instead, Cooper delivers a more intimate, grittier, and tragically accurate historical fiction, one that will stay with audiences long after the credits roll. The name Overlord actually comes from the Allied codename for the invasion of Normandy during World War II. The film sets this expectation for the big day from the start, with the name blatantly informing the audience about what the movie is leading up to.

‘Overlord’ Examines World War II Through an Intimate Lens

In stark contrast to the gravity and size of Operation Overlord, audiences are introduced to an “everyman” recruit named Thomas Beddows (Bryan Stirner). Beddows is an Englishman who joins up with the British Army, undergoes basic training, and anxiously awaits his assignment in the war. The length and breadth of the film is spent, not with Beddows taking cover from German guns, but rather, taking scoldings from drill sergeants. Beddows does all the things viewers expect during the first quarter of a typical war film; he trains, he talks about life after the war with his mates, and he even dances with a woman and plans to take her out on a date. Only in Overlord, this period of pre-combat makes up the bulk of the film.

Instead of intricately shot combat scenes with hundreds of extras, Cooper relies heavily on archival footage of actual soldiers and implements of war. Intercut with the “live action” shots are real scenes of bombings, Nazi rallies, and troops and tanks on the march — adding to the realistic nature of the movie. In order to avoid visual whiplash, Cooper actually tracked down period-correct camera lenses from the 1930s and 1940s, so the look of his new footage would match the stock films. All of these scenes are woven seamlessly throughout the narrative, with Beddow’s troubled dreams being particularly wrought with grizzly visions of war. This gives Overlord an authentic look that also feels quite dreamy and nostalgic, making the events portrayed all the more sad to watch.

The Academy Has Decided
Your Perfect Film Is…
Advertisement

Your answers have pointed to one Oscar Best Picture winner above all others. This is the film that was made for the way your mind works.

Parasite

You are drawn to films that operate on multiple levels simultaneously — that begin in one genre and quietly, brilliantly migrate into another. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a film about class, desire, and the architecture of inequality that manages to be darkly funny, deeply suspenseful, and genuinely shocking across a single extraordinary running time. Your instinct is for cinema that hides its true intentions until the moment it’s ready to reveal them. Parasite is exactly that — a film that rewards close attention and punishes assumptions, right up to its devastating final image.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

You want it all — and this film gives you all of it. The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the most maximalist films ever made: action comedy, multiverse sci-fi, family drama, existential crisis, and a genuinely earned emotional core that sneaks up on you amid the chaos. You are someone who responds to ambition, who doesn’t want cinema to choose between being entertaining and being meaningful. This film refuses that choice entirely. It is overwhelming by design, and its overwhelming nature is precisely the point — because the feeling of being crushed by infinite possibility is exactly what it’s about.

Oppenheimer

You are drawn to cinema on a grand scale — films that understand history not as a backdrop but as a force, and that place their characters inside that force and watch what happens. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is a film about the terrifying gap between what we can do and what we should do, told with the full weight of one of the most consequential moments in human history behind it. You want your films to feel important without feeling self-important — to earn their ambition through sheer craft and the gravity of their subject. Oppenheimer does exactly that. It is enormous, complicated, and refuses easy comfort.

Birdman

You are drawn to films that foreground their own construction — that make the how of the filmmaking part of the what it’s about. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, shot to appear as a single continuous take, is cinema examining itself through the cracked mirror of a fading actor’s ego. You respond to formal daring, to the feeling that a film is doing something that probably shouldn’t be possible. Michael Keaton’s performance and Emmanuel Lubezki’s restless camera create something genuinely unlike anything else — a film that is simultaneously about creativity, relevance, self-destruction, and the impossibility of ever truly knowing if your work means anything at all.

No Country for Old Men

You are drawn to cinema that trusts silence, that refuses to explain itself, and that treats dread as a form of meaning. The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is a film about the arrival of a new kind of evil — implacable, arbitrary, and utterly indifferent to the moral frameworks we use to make sense of the world. It is one of the most formally controlled films ever made, and its controlled restraint is what makes it so terrifying. You want your films to haunt you, not comfort you. You are not interested in resolution if resolution would be dishonest. No Country for Old Men is honest in a way that most cinema never dares to be.

‘Overlord’ Subverts Expectations for a Devastatingly Impactful Conclusion

It is impossible to talk about Overlord without discussing its infamous ending, so anyone who would like to watch the film first should be aware of spoilers coming up. As mentioned above, most movies about D-Day give audiences a sort of hero to follow up the beach. Hundreds of soldiers die around our hero, but he always makes it, giving viewers a sort of proxy through the battle. But in Overlord, after spending more than an hour and a half with Private Beddows, the young man is shot in the head before he even steps off the landing craft. This scene is an absolute gut punch, leaving the viewer feeling completely devastated, if not a bit numb. Much in the same way that The Deer Hunter shows the deep friendship of the four leads before throwing them into The Vietnam War, Cooper gives us a portrait of a decent young man with a whole life ahead of him before unceremoniously cutting him down in the final minutes of the movie. As deeply depressing as it is, this is just what Overlord is trying to accomplish. Thomas Beddows is just one of the literal millions of young men across the world who lost their lives similarly during that terrible war.

Stuart Cooper’s Overlord is an epic of a very different sort than other war films. It does not dazzle with its effects, and it does not show the hell of battle through the eyes of a hero. Instead, Overlord chooses to represent the ordinary, almost forgotten soldier that falls without a word. Every extra in a war movie that dies in the background represents another Thomas Beddows, and Overlord was made for those lost lives. Everybody ought to see this film at least once, and remember that war is not fought by mythological heroes, but by ordinary people.

Summer House’s Lindsay Smiles With Baby Gemma, Carl and Kyle

Feature Carl Radke Thought Lindsay Was Happier Filming While Pregnant

Lindsay Hubbard shared a sweet moment with daughter Gemma and her Summer House costars Kyle Cooke and ex-fiancé Carl Radke.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, May 9, Lindsay, 39, posted two photos that captured her beaming while holding Gemma, 16 months, between Kyle, 43, and Carl, 41. (Lindsay and ex Turner Kufe welcomed the child in December 2024.)

“Modern family ❤️Summer House OGs 4 life,” Lindsay captioned the carousel, which drew messages of praise from fans. “Lindsay looking at Carl! We are healed,” commented one follower, while another wrote, “I feel like mom and dad need to get back together,”

The show of unity between Lindsay and Carl, who got engaged in August 2022 but ended their engagement one year later when Carl called time on their romance, comes after the former couple appeared to reconnect during season 10 of the Bravo reality TV series.

Lindsay Hubbard brought the pregnancy glow to Summer House season 9, according to her ex, Carl Radke. Carl, 40, told People in an interview published on Wednesday, February 12, that Lindsay seemed “much happier” while filming the latest season of the Bravo reality show last summer. At the time, Lindsay, 38, was expecting her first […]

Cementing their efforts to mend their relationship, Lindsay even unblocked Carl via social media in April.

Less than six months ago, Carl released his memoir, Cake Eater: Getting High, Hitting Low: And Trying to Stay in the Middle, which discussed his experience with addiction and how Summer House helped him reflect on deep-seated issues. The book also touched on his breakup with Lindsay.

“Would I tell someone else to fall in love before hitting their one-year mark? Probably not,” Radke wrote in the book, referring to his friendship with Lindsay turning romantic within the first 12 months of him getting sober. “There’s a reason everyone says to wait a year, and I’ve seen firsthand how messy it can get. But I don’t regret it. That relationship was part of my recovery, and it taught me a lot about myself, about being intimate with someone and about what I actually need and want in a partner.”

Carl Radke is “glad” he returned to Summer House for season 9 — even though his ex-fiancée Lindsay Hubbard was pregnant while filming. Carl, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly on Monday, February 24, that he felt his and Lindsay’s chapter was “100 percent” closed after he learned she was pregnant. Lindsay, 38, announced her pregnancy […]

The book also discussed Carl’s decision to call off his engagement to Lindsay and the impact the split had on his mental health. “When you wake up day after day to see your name in the news next to words like lies and manipulation, when something as sacred as your sobriety is being questioned, when you feel like you can’t escape the noise and find a moment of peace, it takes a toll,” he wrote in the memoir, which was released on December 30, 2025.

His words continued, “Our dynamic wasn’t healthy, and walking away, as hard as it was, felt like the most compassionate choice for both of us. The pattern of conflict, the lack of trust, the communication breakdowns: they weren’t getting better, despite our efforts in couples therapy. I had to be honest with myself: if we went forward, the conflicts we couldn’t resolve now would likely follow us into marriage. I wanted a future built on stability and trust, and despite the love we had, I couldn’t see us creating that together. I couldn’t go through with the wedding knowing what I knew.”

As for Lindsay’s subsequent relationship with Turner, the reality star confirmed at the Summer House season 9 reunion in June 2025 that she and Gemma’s father were putting “our romantic relationship on pause” for the moment. “We are just focused on being the best parents we can be to Gemma. We are coparents,” she explained at the time.

Matt Damon And Ben Affleck Sued Over ‘The Rip’

Published

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck at Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are being sued by Florida police officers for defamation over their film, “The Rip,” which was inspired by a real case. The Plaintiffs are claiming their reputations as officers of the law have been tarnished due to how they were depicted in the action/thriller movie, which was released on Netflix in January 2026. “The Rip” stars Damon and Affleck in the lead roles, and it was produced by Artists Equity, the production company founded by the two actors.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officers, Jonathan Santana and Jason Smith, filed a lawsuit against Matt Damon and Ben Affleck through their production company, Artists Equity, citing defamation per se and defamation by implication over “The Rip,” as stated in a complaint obtained by Entertainment Weekly.

Per the filing, “The Rip” was inspired by the 2016 case known as the Miami Lakes drug case, in which officers, including Santana and Smith, seized more than $21 million (as much as $24 million in some reports) in cash during a drug bust, the largest sum of money retrieved in Miami-Dade history.

Santana and Smith were not named in the movie, but they claim that Damon and Affleck’s characters are closely linked to them, and viewers could infer the roles were based on their lives. In the movie, however, they say the majority of the events did not happen in real life.

‘The Rip’ Took Creative Liberties

“The Rip” stars Damon and Affleck as Lt. Dane Dumars and Det. Sgt. J.D. Byrne. It follows a group of officers who uncover a massive stash of cash, testing their loyalty and trust, and unraveling corruption within the Miami-Dade Police Department. The film also features Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

The movie states it was inspired by real events, but the Plaintiffs say in their complaint that the only fact in the movie was “a large seizure occurred.” Apart from that, “the events portrayed in the film did not happen.”

Santana and Smith claim that because of “The Rip,” their integrity has been questioned by friends and colleagues. “Viewers are associating the Miami-Dade Police Department and Plaintiffs with the corrupt portrayals in ‘The Rip,’” the filing noted.

The Real Case Behind Matt Damon And Ben Affleck’s Movie

In June 2016, a group of police officers conducted a raid in a Miami Lakes home, in which they discovered more than $21 million in cash concealed in five-gallon buckets. The buckets were discovered hidden in the home’s attic. Two siblings and suspected marijuana traffickers, Luis Hernandez-Gonzalez and Salma Hernandez, were arrested in connection with the raid.

In an interview with 7 News Miami, Santana said, “When you rip something, you’re stealing something. We never stole a dollar.” The deputy said that he was praised for his work 10 years ago, but has been the subject of jokes since “The Rip” came out. “Pretty much saying, you know, how many buckets of money did I steal?”

The complaint also enumerated several scenes in the film in which the characters blurred moral and professional boundaries, including one in which Affleck’s character kills a DEA agent.

The Plaintiffs Sent A Cease-And-Desist Letter

The filing also claims that Santana and Smith’s attorneys sent the production company a cease-and-desist letter in December, asking that it not release “The Rip.” They alleged that they received a response after the film was already released on Netflix on January 16, stating their claims are “unfounded.”

The response further noted, “The film did not expressly name Sergeant Smith and there was no implication that the Plaintiffs engaged in any misconduct in the film.” The Plaintiffs’ attorney, Ignacio Alvarez, said, “They portrayed police officers as dirty, they portrayed my clients as dirty. Now their reputations are hurt.”

Matt Damon And Ben Affleck Did Their Research

In a January interview with TODAY, Damon and Affleck shared how they spent time in Miami with real officers to prepare for the film and conduct research. They also revealed that some of the officers appeared in the movie in supporting roles.

“The Rip” writer and director Joe Carnahan said the movie was inspired by his friend, Chris Casiano, who showed him photos of a raid he and his team conducted. “When he showed me the photographs of containers in the wall that they sledgehammered out, I went, ‘Wow,’” Carnahan told Gold Derby, adding that he thought that officers counting millions of dollars in cash would be cinematic.

Euphoria Shows Sydney Sweeney Masturbating, Topless on OnlyFans

Euphoria's Explicit Season 3 Scenes That Received Backlash

After receiving backlash for Cassie’s OnlyFans story line, Euphoria pushed it further with more scenes where Sydney Sweeney is topless — and others where she is masturbating on camera.

During the Sunday, May 10, episode of the hit HBO series, Cassie grew her subscribers on OnlyFans with Maddie’s (Alexa Demie) help by filming graphic content. Some of it was more tame, with Cassie recording sexy audio messages and going on podcasts to show support for men’s rights.

Others were more sexual in nature with Cassie filming herself having sex, sending her used underwear to her fans and going topless again. While Cassie worked hard to bring in the money, her husband, Nate (Jacob Elordi), encouraged her to push herself even further to provide for him so he could pay off his debt.

Cassie’s arc in season 3 has received criticism after some OnlyFans creators weren’t thrilled with how their line of work was portrayed on screen. Creator Sam Levinson, however, defended the decision to push boundaries.

Euphoria‘s long-awaited return has been met with major backlash due to numerous explicit — and controversial — scenes. The HBO series, which premiered in 2019, has always been known to push boundaries while following teenager Rue’s (Zendaya) attempt to remain sober after struggling with addiction. While the first two seasons were set in high school, […]

“[Cassie] has got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humor,” Levinson explained to The Hollywood Reporter in April. “But what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it.”

He continued: “What we wanted to always find is the other layer of absurdity that we’re able to tie into it so that we’re not too inside of her fantasy or illusion,” the 41-year-old added. “The gag is to jump out, to break the wall.”

Levinson broke down how he and director of photography Marcell Rév brought the scenes to life.

“An obvious choice would’ve been something modern and very plain and fancy, but we ended up choosing this mid-century home, which is a little tacky, but also stuck in the ‘70s,” Rév explained. “It’s probably a strange choice, but also it gives us possibilities. OnlyFans has its own aesthetic and how you elevate that aesthetic to the show’s aesthetic is a challenge. I’m not going to lie.”

Despite the backlash, Levinson stood by his vision.

“Some of these scenes we only lit with these ring lights that she would use. When you’re inside, it’s a beautiful, glowing front light, but then you jump out of it and it’s just a pool of light and everything surrounding it is dark. It’s just gnarly and jarring,” he added. “We wanted to capture what she’s trying to show the audience and be inside of it. But then also pull back wider and see how depressing it is.”

Euphoria airs on HBO Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.

Martin Short is breaking his silence after the devastating loss of his daughter, Katherine, in February. In a heartfelt reflection, the comedian talked about grief, heartbreak, and how his experiences affected his perspective in life. Despite enduring painful moments, the actor continues to find strength through family, memories, and the support of those closest to him as he moves forward.

Martin Short is publicly talking about his daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Short, for the first time since she took her own life in February. In a conversation with CBS News‘ Tracy Smith, the 76-year-old comedian said the loss “has been a nightmare for the family.”

“But the understanding [is] that mental health and cancer, like my wife’s, are both diseases, and sometimes with diseases they are terminal,” Short said, adding that Katherine, who was struggling with her mental health and was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, “fought for a long time.” The actor explained that Katherine “did the best she could until she couldn’t.”

Short and his late wife, Nancy Dolman, adopted three children, Katherine being the eldest and the only girl.

Katherine Elizabeth Short’s Tragic Death

On February 23, 2026, Katherine died by suicide at 42 years old. Her family issued a statement a couple of days later confirming her passing. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world,” it read.

Following her death, some of her friends shared the struggles she faced privately, as previously reported by The Blast. One of her friends, Rande Levine, explained how Katherine sought treatment for her mental struggles and openly talked about it with her closest friends. However, she kept up an appearance in front of others. “You would never know based on how she presented herself, and how funny she was,” Levine shared.

Short also talked about the loss of his wife, Nancy, who died from ovarian cancer in 2010 at 58 years old. The actor described his late wife as edgy and funny, saying that their relationship was “an equal ping pong match.” The couple married in 1980, and in his 2014 autobiography, he wrote that he felt “love at first sight” upon meeting Nancy.

At the time of her death, Nancy had been battling cancer for about three years, and Short recalled her final moments. “So, Nan’s last words to me were, ‘Martin, let me go,’” the actor shared.

Short said he didn’t work as much when they learned of Nancy’s diagnosis, but he was in the series “Damages” months before her death. No one knew that he was struggling, and he would go into his dressing room to compose himself before facing other people. “You know, that’s what you have to do,” he said.

At a panel for “Netflix is a Joke Presents: This Better Be Funny with David Letterman,” Letterman asked him about the earlier tragedies in his life, pointing out how Short lost his brother, mother, and father before the age of 21.

Short’s older brother, David, died in a car accident in 1962. “Then my mother was diagnosed with cancer at his funeral and died three years later,” Short said, adding that his father died a year later from a stroke. “There was definitely a period where life changed completely,” he said.

The comedian told CBS News that dealing with loss changed the way he looked at life. “What it developed in me was this muscle of survival and handling grief and a perspective on it,” adding that it helped him develop a thicker skin on stage. “I think if you’ve gone through that, an audience not liking you is really not that important anymore,” he explained.

Short shared a realization he had while driving to visit his son, Oliver, who has been temporarily living in Newport Beach after his home was lost in the Los Angeles fires. The actor questioned why he’s still doing the things he does at 75 years old. As he arrived at his son’s home, his grandchildren enthusiastically greeted him, urging him to play with them. “And suddenly you go, ‘Oh, that’s why. That’s why. Okay,’” he said

Elsewhere in the interview, Short said that many people have to do things and move on despite difficult times, just as he does. “I’ve just been in that situation many times. You head for the light,” he shared.

Four days later, People confirmed the actress’ cause of death via a statement shared by Keaton’s family. “The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,” the statement read.

In January, Dexter took to Instagram to mark what would have been her mom’s 80th birthday. Sharing an image of a tattoo that celebrated Keaton’s legacy, Dexter wrote at the time, “I miss you, mom 💔🕊️Thank you @winterstone for my forever reminder of my wonderful mom.”

Dexter’s photo showed her tattoo up close, capturing the script, “La Di Da” with a small heart — a reference to the actress’ famous line in 1977’s Annie Hall.

Duke, 26, was also tagged in the photo, with his own fresh commemorative tattoo that said, “Weird Old World.” Dexter’s post also included a photo of Keaton and Dexter from behind as the pair wrapped their arms around each other while taking in a view of the water.

Keaton’s close friend Sarah Paulson also got a tattoo to mark Keaton’s 80th birthday. Sharing an Instagram image of Keaton’s initials etched into her arm, Paulson, 51, wrote, “You would have been 80 today. Too many deep feelings to put here … I was the luckiest person in the world to have traveled, laughed so hard we cried, watched a million and one movies, really cried, and eaten French fries with you. You. You. Wondrous, singular, YOU. I will miss you till the end of time.”

Yellowstone’s Marshals Kills Riley Green in Surprise Twist

Published

on

Marshals

Yellowstone‘s Marshals spinoff kept the deaths coming with another crucial character getting killed off in a shocking twist.

During the Sunday, May 10, episode of the hit CBS series, Kayce (Luke Grimes) was still dealing with the aftermath of the attack on his ranch while navigating a new threat from his past. The episode picked up from the fallout of the prison bus crash as Kayce and Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) tracked down the last remaining inmate still on the loose.

Kayce and Cal’s journey led to them reliving their time as US Navy SEALs, which included Garrett (Riley Green) as part of their group. It was through those flashbacks that viewers — and Kayce — learned that Cal wasn’t the one who declared another member of their group dead during a mission, which prevented him from getting lifesaving help. Instead, it was Garrett who made the call that ultimately resulted in their friend dying anyway.

Garrett, for his part, was recovering in the hospital after the fire at Kayce’s ranch. He seemed to be on the mend despite sustaining second-degree burns and inhaling a lot of smoke. But when Kayce, Cal and Andrea (Ash Santos) returned to the hospital at the end of their shift to check on Garrett, they were informed he had died.

Marshals marked Green’s acting debut — with him appearing in multiple episodes earlier this season.

“I’m so excited to be joining the cast of Marshals. Being on set with my buddy Luke Grimes made the experience even more memorable,” Green said in a statement in February. “This is my first go around in the acting space and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to this world.”

Garrett’s death wasn’t the only big surprise this season on Marshals. When the series premiered in March, Yellowstone fans were shocked to learn that Kayce’s wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), died off screen after battling cancer.

“Kayce had such a perfect ending in Yellowstone,” showrunner Spencer Hudnut told TVLine in March. “His dreams had finally come true. As we were trying to figure out how to tell the next chapter in Kayce’s story, it felt like he really needed to be shaken out of that. Unfortunately, tragedy tends to find Kayce, so something bad was going to happen for him one way or the other. It just sort of played out that it was going to be Monica.”

Hudnut said Monica’s death will continue to drive Kayce, adding, “To me, Monica is really guiding Kayce through this first episode, trying to help him find his new path. And if you actually break it down, Tate is at that rally to honor his mother, and Kayce goes there to protect Tate. So if not for Monica, Kayce never would have been in that position and may not have found this path.”

He concluded: “We really wanted to be respectful of the way that we said goodbye to her. I also didn’t want to step on the ending of Yellowstone, because what they had was a beautiful ending. Unfortunately, real life intervened.”

Marshals airs on CBS Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.

Savannah Guthrie Leaves 'Today' Mid-Show Amid Mom Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance Case

Savannah Guthrie’s husband, Michael Feldman, is honoring the Today cohost’s strength on Mother’s Day 2026 as her mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing.

“To the strongest person I know,” Feldman, 57, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, May 10, alongside a blurry photo of Savannah, 54, embracing their two children, daughter Vale and son Charles.

“Surrounding you with love on Mother’s day,” Feldman added.

Feldman’s touching Mother’s Day tribute comes just days before family, friends, fans and authorities will mark 100 days since the Guthrie matriarch was reported missing earlier this year.

Savannah Guthrie quietly left the Today show in the middle of its broadcast on Wednesday, May 6. “Savannah had to leave a little early,” Today co-anchor Craig Melvin told viewers during the show. “She’ll be right back tomorrow, though.” It is unclear why Guthrie, 54, stepped out early. Us Weekly has reached out to Guthrie’s […]

“The Pima County Sheriff’s Department remains fully committed to the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance,” the Pima County Sheriff’s Office told Us Weekly on Monday, May 4. “This is an active and ongoing investigation, and we continue to work closely with our partners at the FBI.”

The spokesperson continued, “DNA and video analysis are underway, supported by laboratories across the country. Advances in technology are aiding investigative efforts, and tips continue to be received and reviewed.”

Authorities are urging anyone with credible information about the case to contact 88-CRIME or the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI, adding that “even small details may be significant.”

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been under fire for its alleged mishandling of the case. FBI Director Kash Patel claimed to Fox NewsSean Hannity that FBI agents were kept from assisting in the case shortly after Nancy’s February 1 abduction from her Arizona home.

“They did,” Patel claimed on the Tuesday, May 5, episode of Fox News Media’s “Hang Out With Sean Hannity” podcast. “It is a state matter. It’s a state and local law enforcement matter. What we, the FBI, do is say, ‘Hey, we’re here to help. What do you need? What can we do?’ And for four days, we were kept out of the investigation.”

Patel went on to claim that when FBI agents were finally allowed to participate in the ongoing investigation into the 84-year-old’s disappearance, a lot was accomplished and breaks in the case became more frequent.

“We went in and got the Ring doorbell. And we said, ‘Hey, is anyone talking to Google?’” Patel claimed. “I called the leadership at Google, and I said, ‘Look, we know that there was not [a] subscription service to capture all of the data that would have been captured had there been a subscription service. But can we go into the cache? Can we go into the data before it’s deleted and see what we can find?’ That’s why you have that image — because the FBI worked with Google to put that image out.”

Savannah Guthrie’s husband, Michael Feldman, is speaking out after the FBI released photos of a possible subject in his mother-in-law Nancy Guthrie’s missing person’s case. “Someone out there may recognize this person,” Feldman, 57, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, February 10, sharing the photos and video footage of the alleged abduction subject. He pleaded with […]

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to Patel’s claims in a written statement shared with Us on Tuesday.

“Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is aware of FBI Director Kash Patel’s recent interview and statement. Sheriff Nanos responded to the scene the night of the incident, providing immediate local leadership and oversight,” the statement began. “A member of the FBI Task Force was also notified and present at that scene working alongside our personnel. The FBI was promptly notified by both our department and the Guthrie family. While the FBI Director was not on scene, coordination with the Bureau began without delay.”

The statement continued, “Decisions regarding evidence processing were made on scene based on operational needs. The laboratory utilized by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI Laboratory in Quantico have worked in close partnership from the outset and continue to collaborate in the analysis of evidence.”

The Sheriff’s Department reiterated that they “remain committed to a thorough, coordinated, and fact-based investigation and will continue working closely with our federal partners as the process moves forward.”

The venues cited “unforeseen circumstances” and assured that purchased tickets would be honored for a future “rescheduled” date.

One of Katherine’s neighbors — who lived near her for more than 10 years and asked to remain anonymous — exclusively told Us in February that she showed “no indication of struggle” prior to her death, pointing out that “depression is often a silent” and “hidden killer.”

Even with all of the awards he has received working in Hollywood, Martin Short would likely say father is his greatest title. “Katherine was a private person but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t friendly. She was quite outgoing,” the neighbor revealed, adding that they’d sometimes “hear and see her laughing with friends” on her front porch and she “always said ‘Hi.’”

“She was a voracious reader and could talk deeply about the books she’d read,” the neighbor told Us. “She had the nicest, most beautiful orange tree in her front yard. It was the envy of all the neighbors. Somehow the bugs that affected our trees did not land in hers.”

Katherine was a licensed clinical social worker in Los Angeles and worked part-time at a health clinic, helping with community outreach, support groups and psychotherapy. She also reportedly worked with a nonprofit organization focused on breaking the ongoing stigmas surrounding mental health.

Martin and Nancy were married from December 1980 until her death from ovarian cancer in August 2010 at age 58. The couple adopted Katherine and their sons, Oliver, 39, and Henry, 36.

Former Counting On star Joseph Duggar celebrated his family in a series of Instagram messages posted four years before his arrest for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old Joseph, 31, and his wife, Kendra Duggar, started an Instagram account for their family in February 2019 but stopped updating it in November 2021. Their final post was published […]

Months before Jed’s post, Joseph, 31, was arrested amid accusations of molesting a now 14-year-old victim when she was 9 years old on a family vacation in Florida. Joseph was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older, per a press release from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Joseph has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was released on a $600,000 bond in March and has since reunited with his wife, Kendra Duggar.

The alleged victim told a detective from Arkansas’s Tontitown Police Department in a forensic interview that there were “several instances of sexual abuse” involving Joseph, according to the affidavit obtained by Us Weekly. At the time, Joseph was 25 years old and Kendra was pregnant with their third baby. (The pair share four children.)

The accuser recalled feeling “uncomfortable” and “confused” during the incidents, sharing that Joseph “eventually approached the victim and apologized for his actions,” at which time “the incidents stopped occurring,” according to the affidavit.

In a court motion filed earlier this month, Joseph’s legal team asked a Florida court to allow them to question officials from the Department of Children & Families, Big Ben, Child Protection Team, who interviewed the alleged victim prior to his arrest.

Joseph’s lawyers reserved the right to speak with “any other law enforcement or child protection agency involved with this investigation (including out of state equivalents, specifically Arkansas).” They are also seeking access to evidence gathered by child protection officials in their investigation.

“The Defendant is entitled to discovery of the witness testimony, including records and evidence in the possession of the witnesses for a fair determination of the Defendant’s guilt or innocence at trial,” his legal brief read. (Us reached out to Joseph’s legal team for comment at the time.)
