The episode introduces a man terrified of the number 13, his Taylor Swift-obsessed girlfriend, and her 13 closest friends before sending them aboard a plane that appears to be going down. A clip of the sequence has been making the rounds on social media, where viewers have described the writing as “corny,” “weird,” and comparable to a “bad TV movie.”

Episode 1 introduces viewers to Ben, played by Joey Pollari, a well-mannered hospice worker living with triskaidekaphobia, which is the fear of the number 13. That condition immediately puts him at odds with his girlfriend, Kira, played by “Riverdale” alum Madelaine Petsch.

Kira is a devoted Swiftie whose love of the number 13 appears to dominate nearly every part of her personality. The reference connects her to Taylor Swift, who has frequently discussed the number’s significance throughout her life and career.

Despite his deep discomfort with the number, Ben reluctantly agrees to accompany Kira and her 13 best friends on a birthday trip built entirely around the very thing he fears. His decision quickly appears to backfire when their plane begins to experience serious trouble.

The setup seems designed to establish the season’s obsession with the number 13 while mixing horror with deliberately heightened humor. However, the combination did not land with everyone who encountered the scene online.

Viral Scene Leaves Viewers Asking If It Is ‘Real’

Once a clip of the plane sequence began circulating, social media users wasted no time tearing into it. “This season is so corny,” one viewer wrote. Another person appeared stunned that the scene had made it into the finished episode, asking, “someone pls tell me this is not real.”

The criticism only grew harsher from there. “This sucks lmao,” one reaction read, while somebody else declared, “Season sucks already.” Another viewer compared the scene to a lower-budget production, writing, “This is like a bad TV movie.”

Others were equally baffled by the episode’s tone. One person simply commented, “This is so weird,” while another slammed the creative choices as “Insanely bad at writing.”

Before the premiere, speculation centered heavily on whether the new installment would revisit “Coven.” Photographs from the New York City set seemed to support that theory, especially since several fan-favorite performers returned to the franchise.

However, co-creator Ryan Murphy previously insisted that “Coven” represents only one part of a much bigger story. “Everybody thinks it’s a ‘Coven’ season and it’s not. It’s all the seasons,” Murphy told Entertainment Tonight.

The producer then revealed just how ambitious the crossover would be. “Sarah Paulson is playing six or seven roles. Jessica Lange is playing all four of her iconic characters. Evan Peters is playing five characters… It is like the Avengers. They all come together to defeat the ultimate evil.”

The Season 13 cast includes several of the franchise’s biggest names, including Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, and Sarah Paulson. Lange’s return is particularly significant because she stepped away from the anthology after “Freak Show” in 2014. She later reprised her “Murder House” character, Constance Langdon, for “Apocalypse” in 2018, but had repeatedly indicated that she did not intend to make another comeback.

According to Murphy, the Season 13 concept was strong enough to change her mind. “As soon as I pitched it to them, many of them had said ‘no’ over the years, they were like, ‘Well, OK, I’ve gotta come back for that’,” he explained.

Murphy recalled Lange having a similar reaction when she heard what he had planned. “But I pitched Jessica Lange, and she was like, ‘Oh sh-t, now I gotta do it,’” he said.

“Sharon was desperately hoping that things might be better with the kids after Ozzy’s death,” the source said, adding that she thought the loss could persuade them “to put their baggage to the side.”

That reconciliation has yet to happen. The insider described the situation as “incredibly heartbreaking for Sharon,” particularly because the mother of three loves all of her children and finds their inability to get along painful.

Kelly offered a more personal explanation for the sisters’ estrangement during the September 15 episode of Paul C. Brunson’s “We Need to Talk” podcast. She claimed Aimee did not really acknowledge her or their brother, Jack, while they were growing up.

“She was just in her own world doing her own thing,” Kelly said, per People Magazine. She also emphasized how different they have always been, describing their personalities and relationship as “oil and water.”

For Kelly, however, the issue goes beyond having little in common. She admitted that she has struggled with feeling as though she missed out on the experience of having an older sister to guide her through life.

“I will tell you it’s one of the hardest things of my life, that I never got a big sister,” Kelly explained. She said she had to figure out certain things by herself that she believed an older sister should have helped her with.

The reality TV star added that, “I do have a resentment there. I’ll have that forever.”

Jack linked some of that distance to the different path Aimee chose during the family’s reality television years.

As Adam22’s comments about Chrisean Jesus allegedly having fetal alcohol syndrome made their way around the internet, Chrisean quickly responded. During her Kick stream, she shut down the claims surrounding her son’s health and development.

“My son is not diagnosed with FAS, chat. If my son was diagnosed with FAS, CPS would have took my kid and I would have been had to be on a CPS plan to get my kid back. The state of Maryland do not allow you to go home if you cause certain things to your kid. It is crazy because people are trying to say certain things, so I’ll be, like, forced to tell y’all my son’s business. Like, no, I don’t say anything about what’s actually happening to my kid because I don’t. I protect his business. Yeah, he’s not diagnosed with FAS,” she said.

She went on to express that she feels people have become too comfortable speaking about her son and his development. Chrisean added that she is waiting on God to have the final say regarding her baby boy. She also spoke about how well Chrisean Jesus’ developmental journey is going and her hopes for him moving forward.

Chrisean then sent Adam22 a direct message, saying she feels he has fallen off from where he once was.

“Adam22, people used to really love you back in the day. You fell off, brother. You didn’t fall back, you fell off,” she said.

She also called him desperate and said she prays for him because she feels he will say anything for money, clips, or views. Furthermore, the social media personality then turned her attention to Blueface, saying she feels the situation starts with him, as Chrisean Jesus’ father, mentioning possibly putting Blueface on child support or taking legal action over things she says he has done online involving her and their son.

“I don’t even care about what Adam22 say. They keep playing with my name, keep disrespecting my son. I’m gonna go to the source,” she said.

She said Blueface has contributed to the conversation surrounding her and their son by co-signing comments made about them online. Furthermore, Chrisean added that she had been minding her business, but feels there comes a point where certain situations have to stop.

“You keep smearing my name, and his father added to all of this, for real. Co-sign all these things that people are saying about me and my kids… I’d rather go to the source, and it’s his dad, for real. I ain’t start having CPS situations till he post my son on hernia,” she said.

Adam22 Clarifies His Comments About Chrisean Jesus As Terrine Malone Steps In To Defend Her Nephew 

Adam22 later responded to the backlash surrounding his comments, addressing Chrisean’s supporters while continuing to criticize her.

“Hey, shout out to all the Chrisean Rock superfans out there defending this piece of sh**. I feel so free because I’ve spoken about what a piece of sh** this girl is so many times. I’ve been totally honest with the world about the fact that I think what she did to that baby is abhorrent, and I did say allegedly,” he said.

He then clarified that he could not personally confirm whether Chrisean Jesus has fetal alcohol syndrome.

“Does the baby actually have fetal alcohol syndrome? I don’t exactly know. All I’m saying is that I saw clips of Chrisean drinking and smoking and treating her body like a local pool hall throughout the duration of that baby’s incubation,” he added.

He claimed he previously saw clips of Chrisean drinking and smoking during her pregnancy, describing the alleged behavior as “disgusting.” Adam22 compared the situation to his wife’s pregnancy, explaining that she changed certain habits because she was concerned about their baby.

He then accused Chrisean of continuing to drink and smoke while pregnant, questioning why supporters criticized him for addressing the allegations. Adam22 also criticized people he believes defend Chrisean before inviting her to join him on stream and discuss things directly.

At that point, Chrisean’s sister, Terrine, entered the chat to defend her nephew against Adam22’s claims surrounding his health and development. She made it clear that Chrisean Jesus has developmental delays and pushed back on people connecting them directly to alcohol.

“Alcohol has nothing to do with it. Just like a parent that doesn’t drink and their child may have some developmental delay. Something mentally, or any type of disability. You can’t blame it on alcohol. You can’t blame it on drugs because that parent didn’t do it,” she said.

She also addressed the clips people claim they saw of Chrisean during her pregnancy while pointing out that Adam22 was not there.

“Y’all saying y’all see her doing it… Either way, medical, they said that’s about it. That’s about the case. He wasn’t there. He don’t know. He don’t go to the baby doctor’s appointments. He don’t know,” she added.

Terrine continued calling out Adam22, accusing him of using conversations about Chrisean and her nephew as clickbait. She said that she feels Blueface gave Adam22 the green light to speak on Chrisean so he would not face her backlash himself.

Amid all the chatter and opinions surrounding Chrisean’s baby boy’s development, she has continued to celebrate milestones throughout his journey. On Monday, Chrisean became emotional while watching Chrisean Jesus push through a therapy session as he worked toward taking steps.
