Paramount+ announced the start of filming on a second season of Landman.

The Taylor Sheridan drama has started shooting new episodes after its breakout debut season last fall.

In addition to star Billy Bob Thornton — who plays an operations executive for a Texas oil company — Demi Moore is set to return following her Oscar nominated turn in The Substance.

Moore played Cami, the wife of an oil boss (Jon Hamm), in the debut season, which drew some criticism for not giving the actress more to do. In the new season, Moore is second billed behind Thornton and co-creator Christian Wallace has teased the character will have a larger role in the new episodes. “There is a lot more story left to tell with Cami,” Wallace told Variety. “Taylor has big plans, that’s all I’m going to say.”

The second season also stars Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan and Colm Feore.

There’s no premiere date yet set, but given the production timing, a return of Landman before the end of the season is quite possible.

Landman ranked as a Top 10 SVOD original series in the fourth quarter of last year alongside two other Paramount+ Sheridan dramas, Tulsa King and Lioness. The show ranked as the most-watched global premiere and finale of any series in Paramount+ history and earned Thornton a Golden Globe nomination.

Landman is “set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas and is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”
