Miley Cyrus Makes Major Name Change
Just call her Miley, because the famed musician and beloved entertainer appears to be dropping Cyrus from her name. On social media platforms today, the “Hannah Montana” alum removed Cyrus from her profile and is now going by “Miley.” Although Cyrus didn’t explain the change, it appears to be her slow introduction to her next era.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed today, August 31, that Cyrus posted what appears to be cover art for her new musical era, her 10th studio album. In the caption, Cyrus wrote “MILEY” and dropped her last name from her social media username.
Cyrus’ last studio album, “Something Beautiful,” was released in May 2025 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart. It featured the singles “End of the World” and “Easy Lover.”
It came a little over two years after her 2023 release “Endless Summer Vacation,” which was a commercial success and included the international hit “Flowers.”
There’s No Release Date, But Miley Cyrus Previously Said She Was Working On Music

Cyrus hasn’t shared details about what appears to be her next album; however, she confirmed in a recent interview that she was working on new music.
“This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They’re always layered,” she said. “There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it’s a reflection of where I am in my life. But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras.”
“That’s something I hadn’t really experienced before,” she continued. “A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I’ve found for myself.”
Miley Cyrus Is Engaged

The chances Cyrus sings about her partner, Maxx Morando, are high, considering the pair got engaged last year. She spoke about the special moment during an interview with “Good Morning America” and said she was totally surprised.
And while she’s been open about her personal life since she was a kid, she said she’s approaching this next chapter with care. “The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I’ve been astounded that I’ve actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice,” she said.
Miley Cyrus Gets Choked Up While Accepting Walk Of Fame Star

According to a previous report from The Blast, Cyrus was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and during her speech, the “Jaded” singer got choked up as she reflected on her career, which began when she was a young girl.
“This is where it gets me,” she said. “To my family, my future family, parents, my mom, my siblings, my friends, my collaborators, thank you for loving and supporting not only the choices that I make, but my fears, and then facing them with me.”
Cyrus Celebrated 20 Years Of Her TV Show With A Disney+ Special

Before that, Cyrus celebrated 20 years of “Hannah Montana” with a moving special on Disney+. In the episode, Cyrus visited parts of the set and spoke with important figures, including her dad, Billy Ray, her mom, Tish Cyrus, and fellow Disney peer Selena Gomez.
Cyrus said in a statement that she was grateful to be able to look back on “Hannah Montana” all these years later. “What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” she said. “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
Why This ‘Hannah Montana’ Alum Chose Not To Be Part Of The Special

Two important cast members, Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso, were absent from the special, though. While Osment, who played Lilly in the sitcom, said she was busy filming another show during the 20th anniversary’s production, she thanked fans for supporting the show all these years later.
Musso, meanwhile, wasn’t as gracious when he spoke about it, per The Blast, revealing on a podcast that he turned down the chance to appear because it “wasn’t presented correctly.”
“It’s too long of a wait to do it in a way that isn’t even close to, in my opinion, correct,” he continued, adding that the “kid in me” wanted Disney to do an original episode of a miniseries and was disappointed it didn’t work out that way.

Illinois Man Arrested for Alleged Murder of Baby Years Later
An Illinois man has been arrested for the alleged murder of an 11-month-old baby more than 15 years after the boy died of reported child abuse injuries, police said.
Spiros Elias, 44, of Burlington, is accused of killing the boy, Michael Ortiz, in Aurora in 2010, when he was living with and dating Michael’s mother, according to the Aurora Police Department.
On December 17, 2010, police and fire personnel were called to a report of Michael “unconscious and not breathing,” the department said in a Friday, August 28, news release.
The boy received medical attention for several injuries at two hospitals before dying the following day, according to police.
“The DuPage County Coroner’s Office later determined Michael’s death was caused by injuries resulting from child abuse and classified the death as a homicide,” police said. “Despite a thorough investigation, the initial investigators were unable to determine who was responsible, and the case remained unresolved.”
Authorities identified Elias as a suspect after an Aurora Police Department cold case detective revisited evidence in the case in 2024, resulting in new investigative efforts, authorities said.
When jurors were presented with the case on August 18, they returned an indictment charging Elias with first-degree murder “intending to cause death or great bodily harm” and first-degree murder “knowing his actions created a strong probability of death or great bodily harm,” police said.
During the renewed investigation into Michael’s murder, investigators conducted new interviews, worked with an independent pediatric radiologist and had an additional laboratory analysis performed, according to police.
“The specialized medical review helped investigators more precisely establish when Michael’s fatal injuries occurred,” police said.
Elias was ultimately linked to the timeframe of the boy’s injuries, according to authorities.
During Elias’ Friday, August 28, detention hearing, a prosecutor argued Elias had been with Michael and called 911 after the boy’s mother arrived at work, the Daily Herald reported.
Elias told law enforcement Michael was not breathing and had choked on milk after he gave him a sippy cup and laid him down at home, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser said in court, according to the newspaper.
Elias also lived with Michael’s mother’s two other children and one other adult, who was not at home when Elias dialed 911, the newspaper reported.
According to a forensic pathologist’s determination, Michael was shaken, strangled and sustained blunt-force trauma, Mosser said, according to the Daily Herald.
“A child’s life was taken, and Michael’s family has lived for more than 15 years without answers or accountability,” Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas said in a statement. “While this arrest cannot undo their loss or erase the pain caused by the passage of time, we hope it brings them one step closer to justice.”
At Elias’ detention hearing, his attorney, Brandon McNulty, disagreed after prosecutors argued Elias is a danger to the public, the Daily Herald reported.
Elias was ordered detained ahead of trial, per the newspaper.

Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell’s Widower Moves On
Late Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s widower, Eldridge Toney, seems to be unveiling a new chapter years after her passing.
The “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star was married to Toney in March of 2023, and they remained together for nine months until her tragic passing from adrenal cancer in December of the same year.
Unfortunately, the situation of Cardwell’s passing embroiled her mother Mama June and her former husband, Michael Cardwell, in a nasty custody battle over the children.
Toney and his fiancée, Jessie English, have welcomed their first child together! Over the weekend, English shared the good news and gave a sneak peek of their new son, Walker Stone, on her social media.
“Walker Stone Toney has made his arrival on 8/28/26 at 1:49 pm, weighing 8 pounds exactly and measuring 20.5 inches. He is his daddy’s twin for sure,” she gushed. “We love him so much already!! Welcome to the world, sweet boy!!! ”
The couple shared the news of the pregnancy in January, and Toney raved about how happy he was to have a child after being a stepfather.
US Weekly reported that he shared insight into their future together, saying he was confident he would be a good dad and opening up about their goal of owning a home together.
Mama June Said Daughter Anna Caldwell’s Death Was One Of The Hardest Things Ever

While Toney celebrates his bittersweet milestone, the family continues to mourn Anna’s loss in their daily lives.
In December last year, Mama June shared a long video talking about how difficult it was losing her daughter at the young age of 29. She reflected on her struggles, sharing that people often assumed she wasn’t grieving because she wasn’t constantly posting about it.
“Just ‘cause I’m not on here boo-hooing doesn’t mean I don’t have bad days. Don’t mean I’m not a f—king emotional wreck half the damn time,” she wrote.
Mama June ended with a heartwarming request for fans to leave comments on the late reality star’s social media to keep her pages alive, saying she would have loved it because she loves the spotlight, per The Blast.
Mama June Struggled With Anna Caldwell Not Being There For Her Granddaughters
Anna’s death seems to have left a deeper void in Mama June’s life than the public can see. The reality star opened up about the challenges she faced raising her granddaughters following their mothers’ passing
The late reality star left behind her daughter, Kaitlyn, from a previous relationship, and Kylee, whom she shared with her ex, Michael Cardwell.
She shared that one of the hardest parts of losing her daughter was watching her granddaughters struggle without their mother.
“Her just not being here for the girls, and a lot sh-t has happened,” Mama June lamented. “We also had to deal with Michael taking Kylee away from everybody here and moving to Alabama.”
As a result, they had to stay in Georgia instead of leaving the state as planned. According to The Blast, Mama June keeps Toney in the girls’ lives because that’s what Anna would have wanted.
Mama June Won Legal & Physical Custody Of Anna Caldwell’s Daughters
In September 2024, the long custody battle ended when Mama June won a major victory.
According to The Blast, the court order stated: “Legal and physical custody of the minor child is to remain with Mama June.”
Michael was also ordered not to visit Mama June and the late reality star’s daughter unless they asked him to. Kaitlyn had testified and asked to remain with her grandmother, and her therapist noted she appeared afraid to be separated from Mama June.
Mama June Stunned At NYC Event With New Slimmer Build

Three years after the loss, Mama June has continually navigated life without her child. She recently made headlines with her stunning new, slimmer look at a New York City event.
As reported by The Blast, she turned heads at the AMC Networks 2026 Upfront, in a shimmering dress, showing off her new slimmer build.
The reality star once weighed 500 pounds before having gastric sleeve surgery in 2015. She eventually came down to 150 pounds. She has remained honest about her weight fluctuations since then, with her most recent appearance being the most noticeable.

NBC News’ Matt Bradley Speaks Out After Being Attacked
NBC News international correspondent Matt Bradley is speaking out after he was physically attacked while on assignment overseas.
“We’ve been covering settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank for years. But yesterday, we found ourselves on the menu,” Bradley wrote via Instagram on Sunday, August 30. “A group of masked settlers beat our team and pummeled the 51-year-old woman we were interviewing unconscious.”
While the journalist told his followers that everyone is now OK, “this is just one incident among an unprecedented surge in settler violence across the West Bank.”
During a report on NBC’s Sunday Today, Bradley shared video footage of the moment masked young men — in a gray vehicle featuring an Israeli license plate — armed with sticks and stones rushed to the scene.
According to Bradley, the unidentified individuals smashed their car windshield, hit the crew members with clubs and beat a Palestinian woman — an interview subject — named Aida Ahmed Abdalla until she was rendered unconscious.
“I’m safe. I’m recovering. I got hit twice on the arm,” Bradley told anchor Willie Geist. “Actually, every member of my team, including the producer, the cameramen and one of the drivers we were with, they all took hits, but we’re all recovering well.” (Abdalla is also recovering and has since been discharged from a local hospital.)
Geist described it as a “truly appalling attack” before expressing gratitude for the safety of his colleagues.
“Matt, I am glad you’re safe after what we should warn our viewers was an incredibly disturbing incident,” he said.
In an interview with NBC News, producer Lawahez Jabari hinted that the incident could have been much worse.
“Suddenly a car came to us,” she said after receiving medical care. “The settlers had sticks. I saw a gun, but they didn’t use the gun.”
Camera operator Khaldoon Eid, who lives in the West Bank, added, “We didn’t expect that — that they would come to attack. We were in the middle of a Palestinian area next to Palestinian houses.”
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his spokesman condemned the violence against the NBC News crew and other incidents across the area over the weekend.
Netanyahu said the “criminal acts of violence committed in the villages of Kosra and Jalud by a handful of rioters who violate the law, cause enormous injustice to the law-abiding settler public, hinder the IDF in fulfilling its missions and harm Israel’s standing in the world.”
Bradley has several years of experience covering conflict in the Middle East. Before joining NBC News, Bradley reported on Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq for the Wall Street Journal.

15 Years Later, David Fincher’s Forgotten Classic Is Getting the Series It Deserves
Fifteen years after David Fincher adapted The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larsson’s Millenium saga will finally get the format it wanted. Sky has announced an eight-part adaptation of Larsson’s bestseller, and Punisher and Spider-Noir writer Steve Lightfoot and The Haunting of Bly Manor and Behind Her Eyes writer Angela LaManna have agreed to produce and write the show.
The series, produced by Left Bank Pictures, is set to begin shooting in Lithuania in 2027, with the casting details kept under wraps. Instead of remaking Fincher’s 2011 film as it is, the adaptation will bring the story to the present while staying true to the characters and investigative theme evident in all Larsson’s novels.
‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ Was Always Bigger Than One Movie
Larsson’s novel throws a lot at the reader, starting with disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), the disappearance of Harriet Vanger, a sprawling and deeply dysfunctional industrial family, decades of buried secrets, financial corruption, Nazi sympathies, violence against women and, eventually, a much larger conspiracy surrounding corrupt billionaire Hans-Erik Wennerström (Ulf Friberg). It ends with Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara).
All of this is a lot of narrative real estate to squeeze into a feature film, even one running nearly three hours. Fincher’s adaptation made the necessary cuts and emerged as a compelling, cold-blooded mystery, but the limitations of the format are obvious when compared with the book. The film has to move quickly through the Vanger family history and Blomkvist’s investigation while also establishing Salander as one of the most fascinating characters in modern crime fiction.
An eight-part series doesn’t have that problem, as television can let the mystery unfold at the pace a mystery this story actually requires. It can spend time with the Vangers before revealing what makes the family so rotten, and it can allow Blomkvist’s investigation to feel like an investigation rather than a series of increasingly ominous clues. Most importantly, it can give Salander room to exist outside the mechanics of the central case.
Eight Episodes Can Finally Build the Millennium World
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo isn’t really an isolated story; it’sthe first of Larsson’s three Millennium novels, followed by The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest. Together, they turn Blomkvist and Salander into the anchors of a much larger crime saga involving journalism, corruption, conspiracies and institutional abuse. The series has since continued under other authors, with additional Millennium novels expanding the world Larsson created.
Fincher’s film, by necessity, stops at the end of the first book’s central mystery. It gives audiences a beginning and an ending, but there’s little opportunity to establish the wider ecosystem that makes Millennium so compelling, but a television series can change that. Left Bank Pictures, the production company behind The Crown and Dept. Q, is taking on a property that naturally lends itself to recurring characters and long-form storytelling. Even if Sky’s first season remains focused on the events of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, eight episodes offer significantly more space to establish the world around Salander and Blomkvist.
David Fincher’s ‘Dragon Tattoo’ Isn’t Easy to Follow
There’s an irony to calling Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo a “forgotten classic.” Upon its release in 2011, not only did the film attract attention, but also Mara got an Academy Award nomination for her role as Salander and Fincher was nominated for an Oscar for best director. However, in comparison to Se7en, Fight Club, Gone Girl, Zodiac, and more, the film is not really recognized as one of Fincher’s remarkable films. Its intended continuation never materialized in the form originally envisioned, and the next film in the franchise, 2018’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web, moved on to David Lagercrantz’s continuation of the Millennium series with Claire Foy taking over as Salander.
The new Sky series, therefore, is a second chance at a story that has already proved surprisingly difficult to fit into Hollywood’s preferred two-hour box. There have been plenty of attempts. The Swedish films starring Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist adapted Larsson’s first three novels, while an extended television version gave those stories considerably more room. Amazon also previously developed a Dragon Tattoo series centered on Salander with a new storyline, setting and characters, but that project never reached production.
Sky’s version is the one actually moving forward. Fifteen years after Fincher’s film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo doesn’t need to compete with it. It can take the thing that worked and give the story something the film could never quite provide: time.

Brad Pitt’s Past Candid Remarks About Love Resurface
Brad Pitt has spent decades of his life watching his personal life play out in the media. The Oscar winner has been married twice, and both relationships underwent heavy scrutiny.
Despite what fans had to say about the actor and his love interests, he has personally made some comments about love over the years.
From his divorce from Jennifer Aniston to his relationship with Angelina Jolie and now his current romance with Ines de Ramon, the actor has repeatedly offered candid thoughts about what relationships mean to him.

Pitt had an interesting perspective on his marriage to Aniston even while it was on the brink of ending.
The pair married in July 2000, and a few years later, in 2025, they announced that they were separating. Months after this shocking announcement, Aniston filed for a divorce, citing “irreconciliable differences.”
During a May 2005 interview with GQ, Pitt pushed back against the idea that his marriage coming to an abrupt end means that it was unsuccessful or a failure. The “Fight Club” star said he did not understand looking at the relationship as a failure simply because it had not been flawless. Instead, Pitt said he embraced the “messiness of life.”
Furthermore, he spoke warmly about his ex-wife. Pitt noted that they remained loving with each other even at the end of their marriage and that he was glad about how they handled it. “Sometimes love changes shape,” Pitt recalled.
Also, during the interview, Pitt made it clear that he still believed in marriage, showing that even if his first marriage did not go well, he had not given up on the idea of a long-term and committed relationship.

Pitt’s comments about his first marriage became considerably more controversial several years later. In 2011, the actor spoke to Parade about a period in his life when he felt “unsatisfied.”
Pitt said he had spent years hiding from being a celebrity and eventually realized he was searching for interesting stories through his movies while not living an interesting life himself. He then connected some of those feelings to his marriage with Aniston and described himself as “trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.”
The remark immediately generated headlines, but Pitt quickly issued a clarification.
He stressed that he did not mean to call Aniston boring; instead, he was criticizing himself. “I was becoming dull to myself,” he explained, adding that he alone was responsible for that feeling.
Pitt also referred to his ex-wife as “loving and funny,” stating that she will always remain a good friend to him.
This clarification was important because the “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” actor was already in a high-profile relationship with Angelina Jolie, whom he was building a life with.
- Brad Pitt is said to be “hurt“ about his children’s name changes and growing distance.
- The actor made a painful admission about “family stuff” amid his rift with kids.
- Pitt’s return to drinking has left some of his Alcoholics Anonymous pals worried.
- He is reportedly lacking “respect” from his kids, as he’s seen as the “villain.”
- Pitt was warned that his image is at risk as almost all his kids push to drop his name.
- Jolie reportedly “tried to warn people” about him before his sobriety ended.
Brad Pitt Once Said He Had Never Been Happier With Angelina Jolie

In 2013, Pitt was very happy to discuss the life he was building with Jolie. The pair first met on the set of “Mr and Mrs Smith,” and quickly became parents to six beautiful children.
Speaking to Esquire, Pitt said, “I haven’t known life to be any happier.”
The actor also spoke enthusiastically about having a large family. He said he had always imagined having plenty of activity in his home. He described loving the constant sounds that came with having children around and admitted that he quickly missed the chaos whenever they were away.
Pitt and Jolie eventually married in France in August 2014; sadly, their marriage lasted only about two years before Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016.
The pair’s divorce proceedings would continue for years, heavily doused in public scrutiny. They eventually reached a settlement in December 2024, more than eight years after Jolie first filed.
The Actor’s Split From Angelina Jolie Seemingly Changed The Way He Spoke About Love

In 2017, Pitt spoke to GQ again about his marriage to Jolie. This was one of the first interviews he granted following their separation.
The way he spoke was a stark contrast to how he sounded a few years prior. Pitt acknowledged the grief that accompanied the breakup. He also reflected on what letting somebody go had taught him about love.
The actor went on to say that he now understood the saying “letting someone go if you love them.” For him, that meant learning how to love someone without trying to possess them or expecting something in return.
“There’s no love without loss,” Pitt said. “It’s a package deal.”
Pitt’s comments suggested that his ideas about love and relationships had changed to a degree. The actor no longer spoke about a marriage’s failure or success; instead, he saw loss as a possibility in relationships.
Years later, he would use surprisingly similar language while discussing another relationship.
Brad Pitt Says His Relationship With Ines De Ramon Simply ‘Evolved’

Pitt eventually found love again with jewelry executive Ines de Ramon. The pair were first linked in late 2022; however, their relationship gradually became more public, including an appearance together at the British Grand Prix in July 2024.
When Pitt spoke to GQ in 2025, the publication asked whether debuting with de Ramon at a Formula One event had been a calculated decision tied to his “F1” movie.
Pitt laughed off the suggestion. “No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve,” he said.
It was an interesting choice of words considering what Pitt had said two decades earlier.
As his marriage to Aniston ended in 2005, Pitt embraced the idea that “love changes shape.” Twenty years later, he was once again describing relationships as something that naturally changes over time.
Pitt also addressed finally reaching the legal end of his lengthy divorce from Jolie. When asked whether he felt relief after the divorce settlement, the actor downplayed the significance of the moment. He described it simply as something reaching its legal conclusion.
His relationship with de Ramon has continued since that interview. The pair made several public appearances together in 2026, including attending the French Open in Paris in June. They were also photographed together at other major events during the summer.
After two marriages and decades of intense interest in his personal life, Pitt appears less interested in defining what his relationships are supposed to become.

Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis Found Guilty in Tupac Shakur Murder
Nearly 30 years after the murder of Tupac Shakur, a Las Vegas jury has delivered a historic verdict in one of the most infamous unsolved cases in music history.
Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been found guilty of first degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon in connection with the 1996 drive by shooting that killed Shakur.
Davis, 63, is the first person ever convicted in connection with the rapper’s death.
The verdict came Monday following a weeks long trial and only a few hours of jury deliberations. Davis was accused of orchestrating the attack that ultimately resulted in Shakur’s death, despite prosecutors not alleging that Davis himself fired the fatal shots.
Prosecutors argued that Davis helped organize the shooting as retaliation following a confrontation at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas earlier that night.

Shakur and members of his entourage had been involved in a physical altercation with Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, Davis’ nephew, after attending a Mike Tyson boxing match.
Later that evening, Shakur was riding in a BMW driven by Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight when a white Cadillac pulled alongside their vehicle near the Las Vegas Strip.

Shakur was struck multiple times, while Knight was also wounded. Shakur died from his injuries six days later on September 13, 1996. He was just 25 years old.
The identity of the person who actually fired the shots has remained one of the biggest questions surrounding the case. Prosecutors did not need to prove Davis was the shooter, arguing instead that his alleged role in organizing and facilitating the attack made him criminally responsible for the murder.
A major part of the prosecution’s case came from Davis himself.
Over the years, Davis publicly discussed his presence inside the Cadillac and details surrounding the shooting in interviews and his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend. Prosecutors used those statements to argue that Davis had repeatedly admitted his involvement in the events leading to Shakur’s death.
Davis’ defense argued that those accounts were exaggerated or fabricated and pointed to the lack of physical and forensic evidence connecting him to the shooting.
The jury ultimately sided with prosecutors.
Tupac Shakur
The conviction represents a stunning conclusion to a case that remained officially unsolved for decades and generated countless theories, documentaries, books and investigations.
Shakur remains one of the most influential artists in hip hop history. Despite his death at only 25, his music and cultural influence have continued for generations, with songs including California Love, Changes, Dear Mama and Hail Maryremaining among the most recognizable tracks of his career.
Davis now faces the possibility of life in prison.
For Tupac Shakur’s family, friends and millions of fans around the world, the verdict marks the first criminal conviction in a case that has remained unanswered for nearly three decades.

‘Alien Deathstorm’ Could Officially Be the Perfect 1-Weekend Horror Game
There was a time when finishing a game over a weekend didn’t require canceling every plan you had and temporarily abandoning the concept of sleep. While enormous 50, 80, or even 100-hour experiences certainly have their place, there’s something increasingly appealing about a game that knows exactly how long it needs to be. Rebellion’s next shooter could fit that description perfectly.
Rebellion producer Martin Willingham has confirmed that the upcoming Alien Deathstorm will take approximately eight to 10 hours to complete when it launches in Spring 2027 and that’s enough to make the upcoming sci-fi horror shooter a potentially perfect one-weekend experience, despite offering a more open-ended approach than its relatively short runtime might suggest.
Rebellion is the studio behind Sniper Elite, Zombie Army, and 2025’s Atomfall, but Alien Deathstorm has been designed as a considerably faster and more action-driven experience. Players will find themselves stranded in a devastated off-world colony during a ferocious storm, with an alien infestation having torn through the facility. The objective will be to discover what happened to the colony, locate any remaining survivors, and somehow escape alive.
What’s ‘Alien Deathstorm’ About?
While speaking about the game at Gamescom 2026, Willingham explained that Rebellion has carried some of the level-design philosophy behind Sniper Elite into its new shooter. Rather than funneling players through traditional corridors, Alien Deathstorm will feature larger environments that allow them to determine their own routes.
“Certainly from Sniper [Elite] we took a lot of the level design fundamentals and principles with the approach to Alien Deathstorm. So if you compare it to the older titles that were more like corridor shooters, this is much more open. We’re allowing the player to plan their routes and make choices for where they want to go rather than always being funneled down one route or only having a choice between two options.”
The studio has also incorporated ideas from Atomfall, particularly its approach to objectives and exploration. Willingham added: “People embraced that approach to objectives and investigating the world, giving the player the opportunity to work out the problem rather than being given the immediate answer. You can approach the objectives in any manner that you wish, and as you diagnose the issues with the colony, you can work out how to resolve those problems.”
Alien Deathstorm will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in Spring 2027.

Disney+ Cancels Live-Action Gargoyles Reboot From James Wan
Disney’s long-awaited attempt to bring Gargoyles into live action has officially come to an end.
The planned Gargoyles live-action series is no longer moving forward at Disney+, according to Deadline. The project had been in early development with Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster attached.
Original Gargoyles co-creator Greg Weisman revealed the fate of the project during a recent interview with Comics Online.
“That’s dead,” Weisman said when asked about the live-action project. “I have no idea about animation, but there are no current plans for live-action.”
A source close to the project subsequently confirmed to Deadline that the series was no longer moving forward.
The live-action adaptation was first reported in 2023, with Dauberman, whose credits include It, Annabelle Comes Homeand The Nun, set to write, executive produce and serve as showrunner. Wan and Michael Clear were attached as executive producers through Atomic Monster.
The proposed series would have centered on Goliath, the legendary gargoyle warrior who awakens from a centuries-long curse and finds himself protecting modern-day New York City alongside police detective Elisa Maza.
Gargoyles
The original Gargoyles animated series debuted in 1994 and followed a clan of ancient gargoyles who turn to stone during the day and come alive at night. After spending roughly a thousand years trapped in stone, the group awakens in modern-day Manhattan and becomes a team of nighttime protectors.
The series developed a passionate following thanks to its darker storytelling, mythology and serialized approach, which helped distinguish it from many other Disney animated shows of the era.
Its voice cast included Keith David as Goliath alongside Salli Richardson, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Ed Asner, Jeff Bennett, Bill Fagerbakke and others. The original show ran from 1994 through 1997.
For years, fans have hoped Disney would revisit the property, with multiple potential adaptations and revival rumors surfacing without ultimately reaching the screen.
While the live-action version is now officially off the table, that doesn’t necessarily mean Gargoyles will remain dormant forever. Weisman specifically said he does not know what Disney may have planned on the animation side, leaving open the possibility that the franchise could eventually return in another form.
For now, however, fans hoping to see Goliath and the Manhattan Clan make the jump into live action will have to keep waiting.
