This Band’s Documentary Isn’t About the Band — It’s About Their Biggest Fan

“This is the first film I’ve ever seen that examines that relationship.”

Music, like the films and series TIFF celebrates every year, is one of life’s greatest pleasures and has the ability to transcend social barriers. Some believe music is healing, and it can bridge generations. In Michael Maxxis’s (Puppy Love) documentary, Gail, the power of music is exemplified by one superfan, Gail Lichtman, a woman who’s dedicated much of her time to celebrating the Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace.

The film documents Gail’s preparation ahead of Our Lady Peace’s 30th anniversary cross-country tour. We watch as the subway station agent encounters others throughout NYC, imparting her decades’ worth of knowledge and admiration for the band to anyone who will lend an ear. The documentary allows us to tag along for Gail’s journey from Saskatoon, into meet-and-greets with the band, all the way to their final show in Halifax.

When approached about commemorating the band’s 30th anniversary with a documentary, Our Lady Peace’s lead singer, Raine Maida, had other plans:

“I was throwing up in my mouth thinking about doing a rock doc, so this was turning the cameras around on Gail. And to be honest, Gail’s followed us for 30 years; it was about time we followed her.”

During this interview with Weintraub, executive producer Jason Reitman (Saturday Night), Maxxis, and Maida sit down for a conversation about why Our Lady Peace’s documentary centers on superfan Gail’s life, how the doc helped change their perspectives on fandom, and how the film’s narrative emerged naturally throughout production. Reitman also teases more Ghostbusters in development and the status of the Westwood Village Theater. You can watch the full conversation below, with time codes provided.

‘Spree’ Director Continues to Explore the Dangers of the Digital World in ‘Vintage Violence’

Cole Sprouse stars as a live-streaming urban explorer in Eugene Kotlyarenko’s new thriller.

Vintage Violence is an action-comedy from Eugene Kotlyarenko (Spree) that was hand-picked this year by TIFF’s Next Wave Committee as a film for the next generation. It stars Cole Sprouse (Lisa Frankenstein) and Kiko Mizuhara (Norwegian Wood), and celebrated its world premiere as part of Midnight Madness.

Vintage Violence is a mixed-media feature about disgraced live-streamer and urban explorer Carter (Sprouse), who stumbles across a cache of vintage denim. When one of his followers, Izumi (Mizuhara), lures him to Japan for a business venture, Carter finds himself embroiled in a deceitful scheme that involves a boyfriend in debt and the Yakuza, dragging all parties into the criminal underworld.

While talking with Nemiroff, Kotlyarenko reflects on his 2020 live-streaming horror, Spree, starring Stranger Things breakout Joe Keery, and the sinister way people’s relationships with the digital world have evolved since.

“I think everyone kind of became Kirk Kunkle in a way, sadly. When that movie came out, I think there were a lot of teenagers who related to it, and then now everyone’s become those teenagers.

But for me, what was interesting here was the phenomenon of meeting people online, getting to know someone virtually, and then what happens when you meet in real life? That’s really kind of the question the film asks. Maybe you develop a chemistry on the web or DMing or something — then what happens when people meet? Sparks fly, but all sorts of crazy shit happens, too.”

Sprouse and Mizuhara join Kotlyarenko at the Collider Media Studio to discuss the unusual ideas and accounts that inspired Vintage Violence. Mina Shum’s New Dance Film Is an “Uplifting Diatribe Against the Patriarchy”

“It is a joyful, joyful film.”

Writer and director Mina Shum (Meditation Park) returned to TIFF this year with the world premiere of her latest drama, Whatcha Want, starring Isabella Wei (Bridgerton) and Ming-Na Wen (Mulan).

In the movie, Wei stars as Yin, a Japanese immigrant settling into her new hometown in Vancouver, where she spends a great deal of time alone. Her new husband, BT (Hugh Tran), has been in Hong Kong for five months, claiming to be under extreme pressure with work, while Yin toils away with her older friend, Mary (Wen), who advises her to enjoy her life of privilege, frequenting spas and shopping. But despite her seemingly perfect life, Yin longs for something more, and rediscovers her passion for dancing when she joins a dance class across the street.

At the Collider Media Studio, Weintraub had the privilege of speaking with Shum, Wei, and Wen about how Whatcha Want tells a joyful story of discovery, while examining and exposing a serious issue in a cathartic way. Shum tells Collider:

“It’s funny, you shoot the film, you start editing, and then it becomes its own beast, as you know. Immediately, right away, I was like, “This is a dance film. This is a pop song.” Because it could go either way. We could just concentrate on the very sad story of these people’s lives and how oppressed these women are in their seeming luxury, right? Or it becomes about the journey out of that life, which is really what the film started pointing me to once we got all the editing together. It is a joyful, joyful film — that’s also a damning exposé on patriarchy, basically.”

Wen and Wei also explore the history of their characters’ friendships, with Wen explaining how she came to see a new side to her character, and Wei discussing the training she went through for her dance numbers. Find out more about the movie in the video below, with time codes provided.

‘Alpha Gang’ Directors on Their 10-Year Journey to Make This Wild Alien Biker Gang Movie

The Zellner Brothers also highlight their out-of-this-world cast.

Sometimes it takes an outsider’s perspective to truly appreciate the things we take for granted. In Alpha Gang, a new sci-fi from filmmaking brothers writer and co-director David Zellner and co-director Nathan Zellner (Sasquatch Sunset), a bizarre group of aliens invade Earth on a mission to conquer, but are blindsided when they fall victim to a human plague.

Starring an ensemble cast, Alpha Gang introduces us to an alien crew made up of Doona Bae (Rebel Moon), Lily-Rose Depp (Nosferatu), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Mufasa: The Lion King), Léa Seydoux (Dune: Part Two), Riley Keough (Jay Kelly), and Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy). On an assignment to conquer Earth, this team disguises themselves as a 1950s biker gang, ready to take over, when they’re struck by human emotions, experiencing joy, sadness, intimacy, and art, taking in the beauty of the world around them, effectively collapsing their plans for takeover. The movie also stars Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett and Chris Pine.

At TIFF, Nemiroff sat down with the Zellner Brothers and stars Depp and Harrison Jr. to chat about the film’s 10-year evolution and casting the perfect all-star ensemble. Particularly, David Zellner pinpoints the element that gave this project the fuel it needed to finally get off the ground:

“What was so integral to the success or failure of this was the cast, because it’s an ensemble in the truest sense. They’re together most of the time, and we wanted people from all over the world, and different backgrounds and everything, and having the right combination was…was essential, and we really lucked out in that regard.”

As for just how ambitious Alpha Gang is, Nathan Zellner explains the inspiration behind the movie’s everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach:

“David and I grew up big fans of ’70s and ’80s action movies, and so we wanted to make our version of an action movie and throw in every single toy — like, we have tanks and bazookas, and everything as kids growing up that we loved about those types of films. Like, ‘Let’s just see how much of that we can put in this one.’”

Depp and Harrison Jr. also discuss the joy on set, crafting their characters, and Blanchett’s performance, they spotlight the craftsmanship of their team, and Harrison Jr. compares his role as Beetee in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping to Jeffrey Wright’s OG performance.

‘Magazine’ Captures Print Culture on the Cusp of the Digital Age

“The party was ending.”

In writer-director Alexandra Pechman’s feature directorial debut, Magazine, aspiring poet Nora (Bonjour Tristesse’s Lily McInerny) finds herself in the heart of New York City’s literary scene in the early 2010s. Set 15 years ago, the film explores the cliquish microcosm and politics of the time from an intern’s overwhelmed but mesmerized point of view.

In Magazine, Nora leaves her hometown in Arizona behind for the chance of a lifetime. She’s beginning an internship with Platen, a tastemaking literary journal, where she’ll be tasked with the mundane — slush-pile submissions, coffee runs, and the ilk. Understandably, Nora feels out of place and alienated amongst her new peers, but her anxieties are softened by her crush on associate editor Thomas (Joshuah Melnick), who navigates the office politics with ease. While surviving these workplace complexities, however, Nora soon comes to understand Platen publisher Mickey’s (Jake Lacy) sage advice: always know when to leave the party.

At TIFF, Weintraub spoke with Pechman about the decades’ worth of experience, plus her friends’ accounts, that went into realizing Magazine. When asked specifically about the weight behind “leaving the party,” Pechman explained:

“This was an amalgamation of a lot of different memories and things that I overheard or read. I think that the party was ending in that era. It definitely isn’t meant to be about an era of journalism that was a heyday, or of magazines that was a heyday, but that there were people holding on and trying to stay at the party the way it had always been, for better or for worse.

Obviously there are things that I miss about the world of print magazines being dominant, but as you can see from the movie, there were also parts of this culture that needed to change — and some of the people at the fictional Platen magazine holding onto those moorings should maybe leave that party.”

She goes on to discuss the philosophy that rings through to the film’s themes, how the workplace and culture have actually changed since 2011, and why McInerny’s casting was essential. Ed Helms and Jay Baruchel on Bringing Ken Carter’s Incredible True Story to Screen

Helms also revisits The Office, and Baruchel teases the next season of Reacher.

Writer-director Michael Dowse’s (Stuber) new action comedy, The Stunt Driver, is inspired by a true story from the golden age of stunts in the 1970s. The movie reunites the filmmaker with Jay Baruchel (Goon), who stars as “The Mad Canadian,” stunt driver Ken Carter, as he prepares to pull off an impossible feat.

Even among his death-defying peers, Carter was a singular force within the stunt community. Behind the wheel, he often risked his life for epic stunts, and his career was set to culminate in a historic jump designed to send him careening across a mile-wide length of the St. Lawrence River in a rocket-powered Lincoln Continental.

At TIFF, where The Stunt Driver premiered as part of the fest’s Special Presentations category, Weintraub had the chance to sit down with Dowse, Baruchel, and Ed Helms, who plays Carter’s car designer and technician, Dick Keller. In addition to the making of, Baruchel reveals how he got involved as the lead of the sports dramedy:

“For me, it goes back sort of to like 20-some-odd years ago, and he and I started kind of becoming friends. We were building the movie Goon, and we were having conversations about like, ‘If you could do anything, what would you do?’ And Dowse told me, ‘I would love to do a scripted feature version of the documentary Devil at Your Heels,’ which is an NFB movie that I was ashamed I hadn’t seen. I watched it, fell in love with it, and knew that my friend would make an awesome movie one day, and I put that aside.

Then, across oceans of time, Dowse said, ‘I wrote a script, and I think actually it’s timed out. You’re the right age to play Carter.’ Never once did I ever think that I would be him; I was just excited to see my friend make an awesome movie. All the better that he wanted me to do it. Then I read the script, and it was sincerely better than I could have ever hoped. So much so that, like, at page 45, I texted him and lied and said I’d finished it and loved it and let’s do it. That’s how much I loved it. And then at that point on, I just became a huge Ken Carter nerd.”

In this interview, which you can watch below, the trio discusses the research that went into the film and the archival footage used, plus shooting on a mix of film and digital for the visual aesthetic, and Baruchel and Helms discuss learning about their real-life counterparts. Helms also comments on the lasting impact of The Office, and Baruchel teases the heaviest season of Reacher is still to come. Check out the full conversation, with time codes provided below.

‘Paradise Lost’ Director Yeon Sang-ho Says AI Made His Sci-Fi Feel “Really Realistic”

“The reality has really caught up.”

From the director of Train to Busan, Yeon Sang-ho returns to the big screen with a modern-day exploration of trauma in his science fiction thriller Paradise Lost. The film premiered at TIFF, where the filmmaker and stars stopped by the Collider Media Studio to discuss the inspiration for and making of the movie with Weintraub.

From Yeon and co-writer Oh Seong-eun, Paradise Lost follows grieving mother Ryu (Kim Hyun-joo) after a busload of children, including her son, vanishes without a trace. In an attempt to cope with her loss, Ryu tries a new tech company’s augmented reality glasses that allow her to simulate interactions with her missing son. But when her son (Bae Hyun-sung) returns years later, Ryu faces a disturbing reality that shatters the angelic memories she’s clung to in his absence.

In this interview, Yeon discusses rapidly progressing AI technology that lies at the heart of Paradise Lost, and how reality has advanced to the point that the film is that much more frightening and poignant. He says:

“When I first came up with this idea of the film, the world hadn’t really reached the point of that technology; it was not advanced as much, so it was really difficult to imagine in a way. But as time passed, the reality has really caught up, and it became a really realistic idea, as well. So, with the film I wanted to explore the idea of this perfect paradise that was brought through the AI and the instability of human nature, and how this reflects the human identity as a whole.”

Stars Kim and Bae also share details on developing their characters and which scenes were the most emotionally challenging. Bae also talks about taking on his first leading role and what’s next for him. You can check out the full conversation in the video below, with time codes provided.

‘Krux’ Director on the True History That Inspired His Harrowing WWII Drama

Tony Vahl and Jella Haase also comment on fear, misinformation, and why the movie feels so relevant today.

For her debut feature film, Krux, writer and director Tony Vahl delivers a poignant look at the cost of being on the wrong side of history. The drama World premiered at TIFF this year, where Weintraub spoke with Vahl and star Jella Haase (Kleo) on the impactful story and the behind-the-scenes making of the film.

In Krux, it’s the final days of World War II, and the Soviets are making their way west through what remains of the Third Reich. Rumors of their brutality have spread among the villages, and those left behind — women, children, the elderly, and men deemed unfit for service — carry on, working toward some semblance of normalcy. But as the army draws nearer and the bodies begin to pile up around them, hysteria mounts when orders are given to leave no Germans alive for the approaching Russians.

In this interview, Vahl and Haase drop by the Collider Media Studio to discuss the real-life tragedy that inspired Vahl to make the film, finding her interpretation of the events that took place, and the dark truths she uncovered while researching for the movie. She shares the personal inspiration with Weintraub, explaining:

“It starts with my grandmother, to be honest, because she told me when I was a little child about corpses floating down the river, and this picture never let me go. Years later, I found a book from Florian Huber, who wrote 10 years ago about the suicide wave. He was the first historian, because it was taboo, since 10 years ago when people started to speak about this issue.”

Haase also shares the difficulties of portraying a character like Greta, and the pair highlight the parallels with today’s world. Vahl warns:

“The movie is about fear of the unknown and about what we believe. It’s happened in the past, but so many of the ideas inside are totally present. We have manipulation, we have fake news. It’s about the questions: What do we believe, who do we trust, and how easy is it to follow the crowd? Instead, use your own moral compass and listen to your own voice. I think that’s connected to our times, and because we can connect, it’s more emotional. It’s not that far away from us.”

Finally, Haase leaves us with a sobering thought, comparing the world to the village in the film:

“Fear is universal. Nowadays we have a feeling that a certain kind of defined or undefined danger is drawing ever closer and is really advancing, unstoppable — whether it’s named as an AI or climate change. The people in the village in that movie seem to be paralyzed, but I guess it’s what we are, as well. Because if we really would face the danger in detail, we would have to fight against it every day, whether it’s A.I., as I said, or climate change, or also the rise of fascism. I don’t think we do enough, do we? It’s easier to look at the past or to watch the past with quite some distance and blame the people, but I guess the next generation might blame us, as well.”

You can watch the full conversation in the video below, with time codes provided.

The True Story of How Resistance Fighters Fought the Nazis With 50,000 Fake Newspapers

“We always think about sabotaging bombs and all that stuff.”

At TIFF, the Special Presentations program offers a selection of features from leading international filmmakers. This year, Belgian writer and director Michaël R. Roskam (Bullhead, Black Bird) world-premiered his historical thriller, Le Faux Soir, at the festival, where Weintraub had the opportunity to sit and discuss the film with him and stars Arieh Worthalter (The Goldman Case) and Mara Taquin (The Specials).

Le Faux Soir is inspired by an act of heroism in Nazi-occupied Brussels in 1943. In the film, a group of resistance fighters, the Independent Front, uses the Germans’ propaganda against them by creating and distributing a spoof of the newspaper, Le Soir. This prank is anything but harmless, as those who are captured are almost guaranteed execution, and the group must work with unexpected allies to tackle setbacks and risks. Roskam explains the film’s premise:

“The film is based on a true story. It’s 1943. We’re in Belgium. The Nazis have occupied most of Europe and Belgium, as well. Le Soir, the Evening Post, is a journal, the most well-read journal of Belgium, and has been confiscated by the Nazis to be integrated in their propaganda machine, promoting fascism and all kinds of weird ideas.

At the same time, there was resistance. Resistance, we always think about sabotaging bombs and all that stuff, but there’s also something like hidden press, we call it. It’s their way of trying to inform the people with another version than the version they’re reading every day, Le Soir, which is French for evening — it’s an evening post.

So they come up with this crazy idea for the 11th of November, which is truce, but a forbidden holiday by the Nazis, of course, because they lost. So they come up with this crazy idea, ‘What if we steal back our newspaper and we tell the the people the truth about things?’ But then again, they come to another idea, and they push the idea and said, ‘What if we do it satirical and make fun at the same time?’ And they did it. They started to print their own version, and on November 9th, 1943, 50,000 fake issues of the evening post, Le Soir, were sold in Brussels, and the people were laughing, giving them hope, and optimistic about the outcome of that terrible time.”

In this interview, Roskam, Worthalter, and Taquin discuss transforming their familiar Brussels into a WWII-era set and the emotional impact of the film’s script. They talk about the surreal atmosphere with the Nazi soldiers marching through town, and how the movie highlights everyday, ordinary people who make up a resistance. Check out all of this and move in the full interview, with time codes provided below.

‘Kick On’ Director Reveals How They Shot Over 1,000 Setups in 22 Days

“We just really love that momentum, and that kind of energy is in the final film.”

As part of TIFF’s Midnight Madness, Australian director Nick Kozakis (Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism) took the TIFF audience on an ultraviolent night of debauchery in Kick On. While at the fest, Kozakis and the film’s stars stopped by Collider’s media studio to chat with Weintraub about the script, the horror thriller’s brutal violence, and the making of the movie.

While caring for her sick younger sister, Eden (Markella Kavenagh) is convinced by her friends to take a night off and party with them. Before their night can end, the group decides to keep things rolling by seeking out Ray (Nikolai Nikolaeff), a drug-dealing mobster’s son, whose den is located at the top of a high-rise in a dangerous Melbourne neighborhood. Here, their evening of revelry descends into a maddening paranoid spiral after one rash decision.

During their conversation with Weintraub, Kozakis, Kavenagh, Nikolaeff, and Ras-Samuel (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), who plays Drew in the movie, chat about their bloody, chaotic 22-day shoot, and in particular, pulling off over 1,000 setups. Kozakis reveals:

“Our schedule was so tight. We had timelines to be considerate for, so we did 21, 22 days, I think it was, of shooting, 1,536 setups, which is intense. I come from a music video background, so it’s all I know, just to keep going. The first day we shot was like 113 setups…We had two cameras. It was intense. We just really love that momentum, and that kind of energy is in the final film, as you’ve seen. Sometimes we only had the one-take wonder kind of thing.”

They also detail the wildest sequences they were the most nervous to tackle and their own wildest nights out. Don’t miss all the details from the full conversation in the video below, with time codes provided.

  • 00:44 – The cast reveals their favorite movie theater seats, from the center to the back row.
  • 01:11 – The Kick On team answers questions to get to know them, like what people misunderstand about their jobs to their favorite movie theaters.
  • 06:19 – Nick Kozakis explains what Kick On is about and the films that inspired it.
  • 07:20 – The cast explains the Australian meaning of “kick on.”
  • 08:11 – The Kick On stars discuss their characters in the film and why they wanted to join the movie.
  • 11:46 – They discuss the bloody set on set and the challenges of maintaining the carnage throughout the film.
  • 14:51 – Filming intense action and violence on a tight schedule presented unique challenges.
  • 15:33 – Kozakis reveals the film was shot in just 22 days with over 1,000 setups.
  • 16:56 – The stars share their own wildest nights out.
  • 18:37 – Kozakis reveals that a real-life party actually inspired Kick On.
  • 20:12 – The Kick On crew divulge the scenes they were most nervous to film and why.

Days of our Lives Early Spoilers Oct 19-23: Johnny MARKED & Alex QUESTIONS!

Published

on

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) - Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson)

Days of Our Lives spoilers for Oct 19-23, 2026 bring intrigue with Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) targeted, possibly by more than one person. Also, we’ve got Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) doubtful when he hears a theory, but he may become more convinced soon.

Also, the week of October 19th – 23rd, there’s Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) and Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) stirring the pot in Salem. Plus, it is almost time for Dominic Marino’s big debut. As we always do on early edition day, we talk about what’s happening the rest of this week, and then we get into what is ahead next week. So, let’s dive in.

Days of Our Lives: EJ Wants Cat Back

Wednesday, October 14th on Days of Our Lives, we’ve got EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) wanting Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) to come back to work for him again as his personal assistant. And EJ making this offer is exactly what Cat was hoping for. But with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) questioning Cat about her feelings for EJ, things could get pretty messy, because I think Cat is protesting a little too much.

Lani Price (Sal Stowers) gets some pretty surprising news, and I imagine it’s an update that Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) wrangled a full pardon from the governor. And Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart)’s podcast talking about Lani’s heroics is likely a big reason that it might have come through.

DOOL Spoilers: Gwen Spooks Philip

Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) makes Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) feel uneasy. He’s working on the Gabi Chic counterfeit case with Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez), and Gwen has been helping along with Leo, but Gwen is also Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer)’s ex. So, we’ll see what she’s doing that is rubbing Philip the wrong way, because at one point, when they were both brokenhearted, they were briefly flirty.

Chad DiMera (Connor Floyd) and Belle Black (Martha Madison) are concerned, and they want answers about Dominic. I expect Chad’s going to tell her that EJ said Dominic might be their brother and also Marlena’s son. And at that point, Belle may confess that Marlena told her about the birth certificate. And she may confirm to Chad it listed Marlena and Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) as Dominic’s parents.

Days Spoilers: Stephanie Spills Her Suspicions

Thursday, October 15th on Days of Our Lives, Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) spills her suspicions about Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) to Alex. Hopefully, he will believe Stephanie that she thought she saw Joy moving her leg and foot. Alex did set Joy straight about getting her own place as soon as possible. But Alex may think Stephanie is grudge-holding, so we’ll see how open Alex is to this.

Meanwhile, Joy sets her sights on Tate Donovan Black (Leo Howard), and she starts flirting with him. If you remember, Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) asked Tate to see Joy for strength training, but I’m sure that her flirtations with Tate are part of Joy working some agenda. You know, maybe she wants to make Alex jealous. I’m sure it’s going to make Tate uncomfortable.

DOOL Spoilers: Holly & Mason Get Closer

Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) and Mason Whitfield (Brandon Butler) do some bonding. So, Holly and Mason already had one positive interaction earlier in the week, when he finally got Holly’s side of the Sophia story. Plus, Mason asked Holly to consider volunteering at the mental health hotline where he works for Marlena in his free time, and she’s thinking about it.

Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) gets some wisdom from her dear friend Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Susanne Rogers). And I’m also betting that she is going to share the good news with Julie that she won’t need to stay with her much longer, since Dominic backed out of the house sale after Maggie, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), and the others did all that sabotage.

Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and his son Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) are ready to plan the celebration of Lexie Carver‘s (Nikki Crawford) life. Theo and Abe are going to be doing the remembrance up at the Brady Pub, with Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) hosting. As Abe and Theo are planning, Paulina stops by their table.

Days of Our Lives: Marlena Warns Brady About Kristen

Friday, October 16th on Days of Our Lives, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) is warned by Marlena to be careful when it comes to Kristen. They both know she’s dangerous and a bad influence on Rachel Black (Lorelei Olivia Mote). I mean, heck, even Brady’s daughter knows Kristen’s a bad influence on her.

Marlena and Brady also know that Rachel would love to see Kristen. Rachel wanted her mom there when she was in extreme pain before her appendectomy. But all of them know that Kristen is still a loose cannon. And Marlena and Brady know that EJ had a good reason to want revenge on Kristen, now that word has spread.

Police Commissioner Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) offers Lani her old detective job back. And I wonder if she’s going to tell Jada yes. We know that Lani misses working in law enforcement, and Paulina specifically wanted to get Lani that pardon so she could pick back up with a career in law enforcement, if that’s what Lani wants.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) – Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson)

DOOL Spoilers: Sophia Back in Salem

Sophia sneaks back into Salem, and she nearly runs into the man that she almost killed. Johnny is rushing through the square and has a close brush with Sophia. Johnny doesn’t see her, but Sophia watches Johnny hurry past. So, I guess we’ll see if Sophia is truly over her grudge against him.

Xander and his ex-wife Sarah get help from Johnny to expose the truth about the Coriseal cover-up. They need hard facts to get EJ arrested, but they also need info to get Sarah exonerated in the investigation and to deal with this shady lawsuit that EJ has Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) pursuing.

Kristen creeps in to visit Rachel. I’m guessing she’s still up at Salem University Hospital, which is an easier place for Kristen to sneak in and out of. So, will Rachel be happy to see her mom, and will Brady catch Kristen? We’ll see.

Days Spoilers: What’s Ahead October 19th – 23rd

October 19th – 23rd on Days of Our Lives, we’ll find out if Cat takes EJ’s job offer, but I do think Marlena was right, and Cat has got feelings for EJ that she is in denial about. But with Johnny’s confession, the FBI and ISA may want Cat to get solid proof to back up Johnny’s statement, so it’s not just his word against EJ’s.

Kristen may talk Sophia into one last scheme, because if Kristen finds out how close EJ is to going to prison, I could see Kristen scheming to get him out of the way, so she can come back to Salem to be with Rachel and not worry about EJ being around to ship her off to a remote island.

Days of our Lives Spoilers: Good News for the Kiriakis Family

Xander and Philip, plus Maggie and Sarah, are all excited that Dominic wants to cancel the contract on the Kiriakis mansion. Our leaker told us, though, that it may not be until the holidays that the Kiriakis family gets their house back officially. So, I do wonder if they have to have repairs that last a few weeks because of all the damage they did.

Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti) could be making sneaky preparations for Dominic’s arrival in Salem, with November sweeps kicking off on October 29th. We could see EJ, Chad, and Belle’s new brother showing up in just a couple of weeks. So, I’m also curious to see if Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney) is going to sweep back into Salem at his side as Dominic’s lackey.

DOOL Spoilers: Sydney Struggles

Look for Sydney DiMera (Sydney Malakeh) to talk to Johnny about the accusations he leveled at their dad, EJ. I am sure that Sydney doesn’t think Johnny’s lying, but this all may be very hard for Sydney to hear. Stephanie wants proof that Joy is running a con, and Stephanie may make a bold move to get it, because time is running out. And I do expect Joy is likely going to be busted in November sweeps as well.

Holly and Mason keep getting friendlier, and this may be a problem for Tate. I’m also curious to see if Sophia is lurking and realizes that Mason is the suicide hotline guy that she talked to. Lani may be a detective again soon, and Johnny needs to watch his back, with Sophia in Salem and EJ frustrated that he squealed to the cops. Leo gets a redo on that second date with Javi Hernandez (Jacob Martinez). Of course, Leo had to explain he didn’t ditch on purpose. Also, look for more on the Gabi Chic bag fraud, as all roads lead back to EJ.

90 Day Fiance: Zuri Soto Gives France Another Chance – The Other Way Recap [S08E02]

Published

on

90 Day Fiance: Zuri Soto

On 90 Day Fiance, Zuri Soto is willing to give France another chance to be with her long-distance love, Benjamin “Ben” Brachet, in spite of it not working the first time. Jessy Peralta lands in Florence, but she’s blindsided by Vittorio Palchetti‘s new house in the countryside. Andi Jane gets quite the greeting in Australia. And Niles Valentine gets support elsewhere when his family disappoints. Let’s break it all down in this recap of Season 8, Episode 2, Kiasu, Kancheong, And Carry On.

90 Day Fiance: Zuri Returns to France a Second Time

On 90 Day Fiance, Zuri admits she’s got concerns about moving to France a second time. But in spite of her fears, she is in love with Ben and is willing to try again. The couple first met in London and went headfirst into a relationship. Zuri quickly moved in with Ben in Nice, France. But not speaking French and icy treatment from Ben’s friends (including literally throwing ice at her) proved too much for Zuri. So she moved back home to Connecticut.

Zuri has a lot of support back home. She has a dream job as a marketer of musicians, and a mom and dad who adore her. Her mom expresses concern that Zuri is packing up and leaving again. When Zuri reveals how rude Ben’s friends were, it makes her blood boil. Later, at a going-away party, Zuri’s friends question Ben’s honesty, because there was an incident the first time of him talking to another girl online. Zuri is willing to move past it, but her friends have doubts.

Over in France, Ben talks with his friends about Zuri’s return. They are obnoxious and do not hide their disdain for Zuri. Ben asks them to be open-minded. But they double down that she hasn’t tried to learn the language, and that he would honestly be better off without her. Zuri’s mom drives her to the airport and lets her know she can always come back. But Zuri is determined to give Ben and France another chance.

90 Day Fiance – The Other Way: Jessy Didn’t Sign Up for This

Jessy models pageant dresses and sips wine with her BFF before heading to Florence to start a life with Vittorio on 90 Day Fiance. He asks if she’s willing to give her pageant life up for Vittorio. Jessy gets emotional recalling her memories of pageants with her mom, and her mom passing away when she was young. But Jessy believes she can have a great life with Vittorio and prepares an outfit for her travels.

Vittorio eagerly prepares for her arrival. But he’s kept one pretty big detail from her. He no longer lives in the city. He moved to a home in the countryside, complete with horses and chickens. Jessy arrives and is a little irritated that Vittorio doesn’t answer his phone. But that doesn’t compare to her shock when the car goes further and further past the city, and she’s in the middle of nowhere in her new home. She admits this isn’t the part of Italy she signed up for.

90 Day Fiance – TOW: Andi Jane Gets Quite the Welcome

Andi Jane pens a quick song about her quirky boyfriend, Nigel. His eyes are wandering, and it has her wondering. But Andi is taking the leap of faith, in spite of some shady activity on Nigel’s part, including sticking her with a bill for a timeshare and getting a little too close to a “lover.” But it’s go time, and Andi leaves her home, her music career, and her family behind to see if Nigel really is her person after all.

In the land down under, we get a glimpse of Nigel’s life on 90 Day Fiance. He doesn’t really work, since he has invested money wisely. Well, except for the timeshare. He hustles playing a pirate at kids’ birthday parties and the occasional drumming gig. He loves his unconventional life of freedom, including the joys of polyamory that he discovered attending music festivals. And he says Andi was on board with it when they met.

However, Andi proved a bit of a polyamory party pooper when she suggested he was getting a little too close to one of his casual partners. He brags to a friend that she’s just jealous because he landed more play than she did. Nonetheless, Nigel is thrilled to have Andi arriving. And he greets her at the airport with nothing less than a flash mob, complete with a bearded dragon and bubbles. She’s excited but wonders if she will fit into his scene.

90 Day Fiance: Niles Heads to Ghana

It’s officially time for Niles to head to Ghana for good. Only his wife, Matilda Nti, doesn’t know that. She thinks they will be relocating to America, where she can continue her education and live out her dream. Her family is skeptical of Niles, since he promised to get her to the States in five months, and it’s now been two years. Niles decides it’s best for him to move permanently to Ghana, but fears her reaction, so he keeps it secret.

Niles is sad at the airport on 90 Day Fiance. Neither his mother nor his father is supportive of his marriage or his move to Ghana. He tries to connect with them by phone, but they don’t answer. So he calls Mr. Arc, a village elder who stood up for him at his wedding to Matilda when his father wouldn’t. Mr. Arc is supportive and welcoming to Niles. He suggests Niles stay with him when he arrives. Niles agrees but asks that Matilda stay there too. And Mr. Arc gives the green light.

90 Day Fiance: Ally Is Disappointed in Jonathan

Alimna “Ally” and Jonathan Pearce have a lot going on. She’s pregnant and needs to tell her parents. John left it all behind to relocate to Singapore to support Ally and the baby. The couple head out for some lunch, and Ally explains all the rules John will need to follow in his new country. John eagerly orders some chicken and admits he’s already feeling good about his new home and their future on 90 Day Fiance.

But things go south quickly when Ally demands John get a move on and get a job already. She explains she’s got major anxiety called kiasu and kancheong, and he needs to step up. After all, she’s been working while pregnant and alone, and asked him to save up for the co-pay of the medical bills she’ll have after giving birth. John is annoyed that she’s starting on him over his street food, and suggests she’s not suffering or wanting for anything, while Ally begs to differ. Till next time!

James Mangold’s DC Horror Movie ‘Swamp Thing’ Is Officially Happening

Published

on

Swamp Thing in front of a dark background

DC fans are about to find out what happens when the studio lets one of Batman’s most disturbing villains take over the big screen. Clayface releases in theaters just before Halloween, putting a monster at the center of a franchise better known for capes and crime-fighting. But Gotham’s shapeshifting nightmare isn’t the only DC character horror fans have been waiting to see get his own movie.

Swamp Thing has been a particularly intriguing prospect since the project was first listed among the plans for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. Having James Mangold, the filmmaker behind Logan, tackle the character only made the wait harder. With years passing since the project was announced and very few updates since, though, fans have understandably wanted to know whether that trip into the swamp is actually going to happen.

Ahead of Clayface, Safran confirmed to Collider’s Steven Weintraub that Swamp Thing is still moving forward with Mangold, and the studio is waiting for him to deliver a draft. He explained that the director’s work on his Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, had kept him occupied before he was ready to return to DC’s monster movie. Asked about the project’s status, Safran said:

“It’s moving forward. Literally, we’re waiting on a draft. James Mangold’s a fantastic filmmaker — obviously one of our favorite superhero movies, but plenty of other great, great films. He was busy making his Bob Dylan movie with [Timothée] Chalamet, so we were waiting for Mangold to come up for air, and when he did, he’s like, ‘I’m ready now.’ And that was it.”

Recruitment Is Complete
Your Team Is…

Four teams, four completely different reasons to put yourself in danger
for strangers. This is the roster you actually belong on, what they would want from you, and what it
would cost you to stay.

Marvel Studios · The Avengers · Since 2012

The Avengers

You belong where the stakes are largest and the personalities are
loudest. This is a team of people who are all used to being the most important person in the
room, which is exactly why it works and exactly why it keeps nearly falling apart.

  • The Avengers are not friends who became a team. They are a team that slowly and
reluctantly became friends, and you would recognise every stage of that process.
  • You can hold your own among big egos without needing to win every exchange, which is the
    real entry requirement here.
  • The arguing is part of the method. This group does its best thinking mid-disagreement,
usually at volume, usually in a very expensive building.
  • When the sky opens, they are who shows up. You would want to be standing in that line.

Marvel · X-Men · Since 1963

The X-Men

You have never had the luxury of being thanked for this. The
X-Men protect a world that has never once been comfortable with them existing, and something
in you understands exactly why they keep doing it anyway.

  • This is the only team on the list whose central conflict is not a villain. It is being
wanted gone by the same people they keep saving.
  • You know what it is to be the outsider in a room and to decide, anyway, that you will
not make yourself smaller so everyone else is comfortable.
  • The X-Men are the most genuine found family in comics. People arrive with nowhere else
to go and are never once asked to explain themselves.
  • You would not be joining for the glory. There has never been any.

DC · Teen Titans · Since 1964

The Teen Titans

You do not want colleagues, you want your people. The Titans are
the team where the friendship came first and the world-saving turned up afterwards as an
inconvenient side effect.

  • Every Titan is somebody’s sidekick who decided to stop being one. That decision, not the
villain of the week, is what the team is actually about.
  • You would be joining people who are all working themselves out at the same time as you,
which is far less lonely than being the only one.
  • The Titans lose regularly. Then they eat together and come back better, which is a more
honest model of growing up than any other team here manages.
  • The tower would be loud, chaotic, and the first place that ever felt like yours.

Prime Video · The Boys · Since 2019

The Boys

You are not asking who to trust. You worked out the answer a
while ago and it was nobody in a cape. This is where you go once you have decided the people
in charge need watching, and that nobody else is going to do it.

  • The Boys have no powers, no mandate and no funding. What they have is leverage,
patience, and a very high tolerance for consequences.
  • You are the person in the room who notices the thing everybody else has quietly agreed
    not to mention.
  • This is not a heroic team and it has never pretended otherwise. It is a group of damaged
people doing necessary work in ways nobody would call clean.
  • You would not sleep well. You would keep going anyway.

James Mangold Has Been Working on ‘Swamp Thing’ for Years

When asked to clarify that Mangold is still currently working on Swamp Thing and that the movie is in very active development, Safran answered, “Yes.” That gives fans a direct answer about both the filmmaker’s involvement and the project’s future. It also establishes where things stand: DC is awaiting a screenplay, so there is still work to do before the creature can make his theatrical return. Mangold confirmed to Collider in April 2023 that he was writing Swamp Thing, alongside his planned Star Wars movie. His involvement made the project especially appealing after Logan demonstrated how effectively he could take a familiar comic book character into more brutal territory.

Swamp Thing offers another opportunity to build a movie around a character whose monstrous appearance is only part of the story. DC’s official character description identifies the creature as a being made of vegetation that has absorbed scientist Alec Holland’s memories, personality, and grief. That leaves plenty for Mangold to explore beyond the spectacle of bringing a plant monster to life. The character’s relationship with the natural world also opens up a very different corner of DC from the streets of Gotham.

For now, Safran’s update gives Swamp Thing fans something concrete to hold onto while they wait for more. Mangold remains involved, and the screenplay is the next step. Swamp Thing does not yet have an announced release date, while Clayface arrives in theaters on October 23. Stay tuned at Collider for more.

Kourtney Kardashian Is a Sexy Vampire for Stepson’s Birthday

Published

on

GettyImages-1442394909-Kourtney-Kardashian-Is-a-Sexy-Vampire-for-Stepsons-Birthday.jpg

Kourtney Kardashian has released her inner vamp to mark her stepson Landon Barker’s 23rd birthday.

“Bite me,” the Poosh founder captioned a Tuesday, October 13, Instagram post that featured a string of sexy photos of herself snapped during a celebratory night out with her husband, Travis Barker, and their son.

Kourtney is stepmother to Landon and Alabama, 20, after marrying the Blink-182 drummer, 50, in 2022. The couple also share son Rocky, 2, while Kourtney is also mother to sons Mason, 16, and Reign, 11, and daughter Penelope, 14, whom she shares with ex Scott Disick.

The pics captured every angle of Kourtney in a stunning low-cut lace ensemble, which she teamed with a long sheer black shirt that hung off her arms. Her look popped thanks to a deep red lip that dripped with faux blood at one side. A black choker, wavy hair extensions and dark nails completed the reality TV star’s vampire transformation.

One sweet snap in the mix also showed Kourtney posing alongside Travis and Landon, who each sported their own all-black outfits complemented with bloodied lips. Landon’s homemade birthday cake was also revealed, topped with black icing that read, “Nobody likes you when you’re 23.”

The text served as a reference to the lyrics of Blink-182’s hit 1999 single “What’s My Age Again?” that mirrors the exact phrasing.

Landon showed his approval of Kourtney’s look and public tribute to his birthday, commenting on the post, “Love you!” which sparked her response, “Love u more.” Kourtney’s sister, Khloe Kardashian, also approved of the post, commenting “Yessssss,” while Travis staked his claim by commenting, “Mrs. Barker.”

Fans also threw their support Kourtney’s way, with one person writing, “THE HOTTEST KARDASH!” and another commenting, “Spooky season has found its leading lady.”

The family celebration comes just days after Kourtney was seen discussing her bond with Landon during the season 8 premiere of The Kardashians. Amid her loving confessional, which aired on Thursday, October 8, Kourtney was interrupted by little Rocky.

The toddler, who is largely kept out of the spotlight, appeared on camera in his father’s arms. “Ah, hi!” Kourtney said to the duo at the time. “I was just talking about Landon.”

While Travis held Rocky, the child, whose face was blurred in the clip for privacy, said that he wanted to go “that way” and leave the group.

Kourtney explained to the camera, “That’s how he is when there’s too many people lately,” before Travis was seen asking Rocky, “Is it pandemonium?” to which he adorably responded, “Yeah,” and they both exited the frame.

Travis Kelce ‘Likes’ Video of Shane Gillis’ SNL Monologue

Published

Shane Gillis seems to have a supporter in Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce amid the fallout from his recent — and controversial — Saturday Night Live monologue.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end liked a video of the monologue on Instagram, which featured a joke disparaging women at the gym.

“I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t realize women just dressed like whores now,” Gillis, 38, said at the start of the Saturday, October 10 episode. “Look, I’m sorry, there’s no other way to describe [it]. Have you seen it? I’ve seen it. You’ve seen the shorts? They’re those neon, like, artificial bait-colored [shorts], and the wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole. And don’t look! You’re not allowed to look. For real, don’t look because they are filming. I’m in the background of about 10 TikToks right now.”

A source close to Kelce, 37, downplayed the social media interaction, telling Page Six that “he’s always been a massive fan of the show and he was supporting a friend.” Us has reached out to Kelce for comment.

Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson were not spared from Shane Gillis’ opening monologue at the 2025 ESPY Awards. The comedian, 37, took the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 16, and poked fun at the couple’s 48-year age gap after making a joke about Shohei Ohtani‘s former interpreter’s gambling scandal. […]

The comedian and the pro athlete have publicly supported each other before. In June, Gillis appeared at Kelce’s annual Tight End University, hosted alongside fellow tight ends George Kittle and Greg Olsen.

While Kelce has not commented publicly about the controversial joke, others have spoken out since the Saturday, October 10, episode. Schitt’s Creek alum Dan Levy blasted Gillis in a scathing Instagram video the following day.

“Women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make them whores,” Levy, 43, said on Sunday, October 11. “It makes the men calling them whores misogynists. There’s a difference there.”

He added that he has “seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve ever seen women showing their bodies off.”

Levy continued, “But I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television. And to be perfectly honest, more men need to be standing up in opposition to it because it’s complacency that has created the environment [in] which women are sexually assaulted, and it’s a conversation as opposed to a crime.”

Shane Gillis Throws ESPYs Writers Under the Buss After DeShawn Watson Joke

Related: Shane Gillis Blames ESPYs Writers for DeShaun Watson Massage Joke

Shane Gillis made it clear that he had nothing to do with the DeShaun Watson massage joke at the 2025 ESPYs. While hosting the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 16, Gillis, 37, initially said he wanted to “skip that joke” about Watson, 29, before reluctantly mentioning it on stage. “Alright, bring it […]

“This is not a women’s issue,” he concluded. “This is an everybody issue, because the more that men objectify women in the media, the more that other men see them as objects and treat them as objects. They are not objects. They are superior human beings to men, OK? And I’m sorry if this gets me in trouble with the internet, but f***.”

Gillis’ monologue wasn’t the only controversial moment in the most recent SNL episode. The comedian also accidentally swore during a sketch parodying Dr. Seuss’ “Green Eggs & Ham,” unceremoniously saying “f***” before awkwardly replying with an, “Oh, geeze.”

Gillis burst out laughing at the time, holding his arm up as a way of silently apologizing to the crowd. He also apologized at the end of the show.

“Sorry about earlier,” he said during the goodnights segment. “Thank you very much. [I] had a good night.”

Maureen Kelly of tarte Shares Her Slumber Party Essentials and the Morning-After Espresso Shot for Sleepy Eyes

Sleep tight! tarte founder and CEO Maureen Kelly is here to help you get a good night’s sleep or at least look like you did.

Kelly, who created a beauty line loved by Shay Mitchell, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kourtney Kardashian, teamed up with lifestyle brand Roller Rabbit, whose designs have been worn by Angelina Jolie, Bella Hadid, and Reese Witherspoon, for the ultimate slumber party collaboration, complete with makeup and matching pajamas.

tarte x Roller Rabbit

“The best girls’ nights are all about the little rituals you never really grow out of, doing your makeup together, ordering your favorite food, putting on a movie, and staying up way too late talking. … That’s the spirit behind tarte x Roller Rabbit, celebrating those girls’ nights, and the joy of girlhood together,” she tells ET.

While cozy is the dress code, there’s no reason to skip the glam.

“Wear the shimmer and glossy lip for a girls’ night on the couch. Getting ready can be the event. You never age out of playing with makeup, and you never outgrow a great sleepover,” she shares.

tarte x Roller Rabbit

As for what’s in Kelly’s overnight bag? The entrepreneur has a few tried-and-true favorites.

“My biggest tip is not to overcomplicate it. Start with good skin prep, then focus on a few products that make you feel your best. For me, that’s a little shape tape, some blush on the cheeks to bring my face to life, mascara, and a good lip. … Don’t worry about making it perfect. Some of the best looks happen when you’re just getting ready with your girlfriends and trying out each other’s products and routines as you go.”

tarte x Roller Rabbit

Swapping beauty secrets is part of the fun, but some products call for a more personal touch.

“We have four shape tape options because you can get the shade right and still need a different formula. The OG is for oily or combination skin and gives you full coverage with a matte finish. The creamy has a built-in eye cream, so you get that coverage with extra hydration. The stick is your swipe-and-go option for blurring and spot coverage, and radiant gives you medium coverage with more glow, so your skin still shines through.”

And once the night winds down, there’s one step she’ll never skip.

tarte x Roller Rabbit

“Take your makeup off! I love that our tubing mascara comes off with just warm water because at the end of a long day, nobody wants another project. Then moisturize, put your phone down, and give yourself permission to be done for the night. I need that reminder too,” she spills.

Even if you stay up past your bedtime, there’s still a way to look bright-eyed the next morning.

“More tired doesn’t have to mean more makeup. A little product makes a big difference. I swear by the dot-and-dash method with shape tape for an instant eye lift. Place a dot at the inner corner to brighten and a little dash at the outer corner and blend upward for a lifted look. You don’t need that big triangle of concealer under your eyes. … Just one swipe makes you look like you had 8 hours of sleep. I always say it’s like an espresso shot for your under-eyes.”

Concealer might act like caffeine for dark circles, but an actual pick-me-up calls for something else.

“FINSUUL is energy, focus and hydration in one stick, because my morning routine needs to multitask as much as I do and coffee can’t keep up.”

RJ Mitte’s Final Texts Expose a Long Hollywood Struggle

Published

on

RJ Mitte at World Premiere Of Apple TV+'S 'Pluribus'

RJ Mitte spent years fighting for the chance to prove that his cerebral palsy did not define the roles he could play.

Behind the success of “Breaking Bad,” the actor privately questioned Hollywood’s reluctance to give disabled performers meaningful opportunities, even as he kept auditioning and developing his own projects.

Messages that now reveal his frustrations offer a painful look at a career shaped by persistence, disappointment, and a determination to change an industry he believed overlooked his talent.

RJ Mitte Challenged Hollywood’s Casting Practices

RJ Mitte’s frustration with Hollywood was rooted in a recurring problem: casting professionals often treated disability as a reason to exclude him from roles that had not been written specifically for disabled characters.

In an April 2017 private message to a longtime friend obtained by the Daily Mail, he described the uncomfortable reactions he encountered when he questioned that approach.

“When I go for a part, they sometimes tell me that it’s not a character with a disability, and I’m like why can’t the character be disabled?” he wrote.

Mitte believed a character could have cerebral palsy without the entire storyline revolving around the condition.

His role as Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s chemistry teacher turned drug manufacturer on AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” had demonstrated his ability to play a character whose life extended beyond his disability.

Yet the show’s success did not bring the steady stream of opportunities he had hoped for. “I can do any role, but some of [the casting agents and directors] are a**h****s who won’t even look at me,” he wrote in another 2017 message.

He kept auditioning, but a television pilot he worked on didn’t move forward. “Worked on a pilot that didn’t go, a few months ago. Brutal biz,” he wrote that December.

Mitte Struggled To Find Consistent Work

The difficulty securing roles also affected RJ Mitte’s ability to plan for his future. After completing an independent film project in Sydney, Australia, he explained in February 2019 that he hoped to find more work in the United States.

The overseas project had been enjoyable, but it did not guarantee another opportunity at home. “I did a job in Sydney, and it was fun,” the 34-year-old wrote.

He added, “But it’s a film not going to be here, it’s Australian, I hope I can find stuff here. I would like to work enough to keep my [health] insurance. Pain in the ass lol.”

When the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the entertainment industry in 2020, Mitte continued pursuing projects, including work in Canada and voice acting. He also recognized that completing projects was not enough if casting professionals forgot he was available.

“I’ve got to figure out more work,” he wrote in June 2020, adding, “I need to keep myself relevant lol.” He later offered to do video interviews and other promotional opportunities, explaining, “I just need to remind people to book me.”

By March 2021, Mitte believed disabled actors were facing additional barriers because of assumptions about their health and insurability during the pandemic.

“Gotta convince people that I’m not going to die of Covid. There’s a backlash about people with disabilities, they think that we can’t be insured or that we are going to die in the middle of a scene, its bullshit,” he wrote.

RJ Mitte Pursued Greater Representation And New Projects

Mitte’s concerns extended beyond finding work for himself. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at three, he became an advocate for disabled performers, serving as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.

In 2016, he publicly called for television to portray disabled people in ordinary, varied roles rather than limiting them to stories about their conditions.

“I would love to switch on my TV and see a disabled person talking about something they are genuinely interested in or acting out a part that doesn’t just focus on their impairment,” the star said.

His private messages showed that he remained dissatisfied with the scripts he received. In April 2022, he told his friend that some offered little more than a token appearance.

“Looking for interesting stuff to do, getting a lot of scripts where I would be a prop and they don’t want to give any depth, 3 lines if that,” he wrote. “I’m writing my own s**t now.”

Four months later, he complained that they were mainly offering him animation work. By July 2025, however, he was considering “Dancing with the Stars” as a possible platform to challenge assumptions about cerebral palsy, provided the experience preserved his dignity.

More From The Blast

Details Of Mitte’s Tragic Demise Revealed

According to a report from The Blast, RJ Mitte died by suicide on Monday, October 12, at age 34 in Brownsville, Texas.

His representatives confirmed his death, with a statement that read, “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte.”

The statement also said Mitte drew on his experience living with cerebral palsy to bring authenticity to his role as Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad and to promote disability awareness and inclusion.

It added that he served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and led The Mitte Foundation, which supported philanthropic efforts and community initiatives.

RJ Mitte’s Upcoming Movie Put On Hold After Death

Mitte’s death also disrupted production of “Forgotten Outlaw,” a Western in which he was cast as the lead.

TMZ reported that the film had been placed on hold, with director Nik Tizekker planning to continue the project in the late actor’s honor.

Tizekker told the outlet that the film was in pre-production and that Mitte had been helping the team secure additional financing before his death. The director considered the Hollywood star a strong fit for the central role because of his mindset and physical resemblance to the person he was set to portray.

Although the production would need to find another leading actor, Tizekker said he intended to move forward with the movie rather than abandon it.

Mitte had also been collaborating with Tizekker on “Like It Was Yesterday,” a limited series exploring near-death experiences. The actor had filmed scenes with Catherine Carlen, who played his mother in the project.

The series was about half complete before Mitte’s death. Tizekker hoped to finish and release it if the necessary funding could be secured.

Taylor Sheridan’s No. 1 ‘Yellowstone’ Replacement Officially Surges on Streaming

Published

on

xsieccxd8lkcaluw0wwwbw5cwsv-2.jpg

Since Taylor Sheridan‘s hit neo-Western Yellowstone premiered in 2018, many attempts to create a story of that magnitude have been made, but none has matched its success. Almost every streaming service has tried to make a Yellowstone version, from sweeping romances in Ransom Canyon to family feuds with sci-fi twists in Outer Range. Only recently has a TV show captured the Yellowstone spirit, and it has become a streaming favorite.

At 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, the drama is a certified hit in its own right. Viewers also rated it favorably, giving it an 85% score. Part of that success is that Dutton Ranch is set in the Yellowstone universe and directly continues the story. Critics agreed that “Dutton Ranch takes what its predecessor perfected and carries the mantle well in a new town with the same well-worn trappings, perfectly dusted and ripe for entertaining.”

But the Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser-led series isn’t the first direct sequel to Yellowstone, with Marshals preceding it a few months earlier. However, critics and viewers seemed to agree that Marshals didn’t feel like a perfect continuation of Yellowstone, since it lacked the grit and expansive storytelling that were Yellowstone‘s hallmarks. Dutton Ranch, by contrast, features ranching, family feuds, and violence. However, both shows stream on the same platform, and with Marshals‘ return for a new season, Dutton Ranch has also seen renewed interest and has been among the most-watched shows on Paramount+ over the last week, peaking at number 7 according to FlixPatrol’s rankings. It’s a decent performance for a show that’s not airing new episodes, but once the new season comes out, Dutton Ranch will reclaim its glory from earlier this year.

Sheridan’s worlds are as much about place as they are about people.

05

Tulsa King

⚖️
Mayor of Kingstown

You are a Dutton — or you might as well be. You understand that some things are worth protecting at any cost, and that the modern world’s indifference to history, to land, to legacy, is not something you’re willing to accept quietly. You lead from the front, you carry your family’s weight without complaint, and when someone threatens what’s yours, you don’t escalate — you finish it. You’re not cruel. But you are absolute. In Yellowstone’s world, that combination of ferocity and loyalty doesn’t make you a villain. It makes you the only thing standing between everything that matters and everyone who wants to take it.

You thrive in the chaos of high-stakes negotiation, where the money is enormous, the margins are thin, and the wrong word in the wrong room can cost everyone everything. You’re a fixer — the person called when a situation is already on fire and needs someone with the nerve to walk into it. West Texas oil country rewards exactly what you are: sharp, adaptable, unsentimental, and absolutely clear-eyed about what people want and what they’ll do to get it. You’re not naive enough to think this world is fair. You’re smart enough to be the one deciding who it’s fair to.

You are a Dwight Manfredi — someone who has served their time, paid their dues, and arrived somewhere unexpected with nothing but their reputation and their wits. You adapt without losing yourself. You build loyalty through respect rather than fear, though you’re not above reminding people that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Tulsa King is for people who are still standing when everyone assumed they’d be finished — who find, in an unfamiliar place, that they’re more capable than the world gave them credit for. You don’t need a throne. You build one, wherever you happen to land.

You carry the weight of a system that is broken by design, and you do it anyway — because someone has to, and because you’re the only one positioned to do it without the whole thing collapsing. Mike McLusky’s world is for people who are comfortable operating where there are no good options, only less catastrophic ones. You speak every language: law enforcement, criminal, political, human. That fluency makes you invaluable and it makes you a target. You’ve made your peace with both. Mayor of Kingstown belongs to people who understand that keeping the peace is not the same as being at peace — and who do the job regardless.

Will ‘Dutton Ranch’ Return for Season 2?

Dutton Ranch is officially returning for a second season on Paramount+ following a record-breaking debut. Filming for Season 2 is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with the writers’ room actively developing scripts throughout the remainder of 2026. While a definitive premiere date hasn’t been announced, a late 2027 premiere date is more likely. Behind the scenes, the series is undergoing a major creative shift. Benjamin Cavell, the creator of SEAL Team, takes over as showrunner from Chad Feehan, who exited the series due to creative differences. Plot details remain tightly under wraps, but the season is expected to immediately address the finale’s dramatic cliffhangers, focusing on tense cartel conflicts and the mission to rescue Carter (Finn Little) from his kidnappers. Meanwhile, Ed Harris will also have a larger role after calling out the show for him being underutilized in Season 1.

Below Deck’s Gael Recalls Complicated Time Before Nathan’s Arrest

Published

Below Deck Med's Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher Welcome Baby No. 1

Below Deck Med‘s Gael Cameron made a rare comment about the complicated period in her life before Nathan Gallagher‘s arrest.

“And there goes the close of another season of Med… and another chapter of life 🤍,” Gael wrote via Instagram on Thursday, October 8.

Gael noted that most of her experience wasn’t shown on camera.

“You didn’t get to see much of my time in Croatia. It wasn’t the easiest chapter of my life, and there’s still so much left to be said about that time,” she wrote. “But I’d love to share a bit of the good you guys didn’t get to see.”

Below Deck couples haven’t had long lasting success — and Mediterranean‘s Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher aren’t the exception. The couple, who met on season 9, got off to a rocky start as Gael navigated a breakup from an offscreen boyfriend. Nathan, meanwhile, was clear about his immediate attraction to Gael, which blossomed as they […]

The reality star recalled the difficult time in her life, writing, “I moved away with a new baby and [was] still living in survival mode. But honestly? I think I did okay. I got to explore one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been while figuring out my new life as a mother, and I got to share my love for the unfamiliar with my new little best friend.”

Gael was grateful to have support from her loved ones. “For almost three of the six weeks we were there, my best friend flew over to be with us,” she continued. “With an extra set of hands and a bit of care I stopped just surviving and moments there I got to feel like myself again.”

She continued: “I just wish I had more photos with this incredible cast. And huge props to everyone, cast and crew, in front of the camera and behind it. I get to see how hard you all work and how much heart and soul goes into what you do.”

Despite the challenges, Gael was determined to take away something from her time in Croatia.

“Leaving my support system at home wasn’t the plan, but I’m so grateful for the experience,” she concluded. “Croatia showed me the strength I have as a mother and as a woman: no matter how challenging the circumstances, I will survive. And not only that, I’ll always find the pockets of joy, cause life is a beautiful thing and there is always light as long as you keep looking for it xx.”

As viewers know, Gael spent most of her time in season 11 on land with her and Nathan’s infant son, Kayden. Nathan, for his part, would visit the pair at their home when there wasn’t a charter on board.

News broke in August, however, that Nathan was arrested on domestic violence charges in Australia in December 2025. Nathan was charged with “assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally chok[ing] a person without consent and common assault” following an alleged incident with an unnamed victim.

A police memo revealed that Nathan was eventually granted conditional bail. He was later convicted on three counts of domestic violence after failing to appear in court. Us also confirmed that Nathan is the subject of an Apprehended Violence Application that was filed on behalf of Gael in New South Wales.

“I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t. I made mistakes, and I will take responsibility for my own actions,” Nathan told Rolling Stone in a statement in August. “I will not accept being portrayed solely through one account of a relationship when there is another side and evidence relating to it. I have contemporaneous video footage from the night in question, as well as messages and other records, which I believe provide important context.”

In his statement, Nathan revealed he and Gael had split.

“There are also other matters surrounding the relationship that I have never discussed publicly,” he claimed. “My priority is being recognized as his father, establishing a relationship with him and ultimately finding a way for both of us to move forward and coparent peacefully.”

Us has since confirmed that Bravo fired Nathan in light of his domestic violence arrest.

“Bravo does not plan on working with Nathan in the future,” a rep for the network noted in a statement.
