‘NCIS’ Should Have Ended 5 Years Ago After Its Game-Changing Exit
As NCIS continues to air, fans of the series are all missing the void left by the most iconic and important character from the show. At the conclusion of Season 19, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the supervisory special agent played by Mark Harmon, bid farewell to the agency with a retirement to idyllic Alaska. The significance of this departure could not be understated: Harmon was one of two original regular cast members to complete 19 seasons and was the foundation around which the rest of the show was built. Gibbs first appeared in the backdoor pilot for NCIS in 2003 as part of the JAG series and has appeared in every season since.
Although Harmon’s position as leader has been replaced by Alden Parker (Gary Cole), the show doesn’t feel quite the same. Shows that have aired for so many years are destined to evolve, but sometimes those changes aren’t for the better. So with a drastic change for such a renowned and popular series, it begs the question: should the series have ended with Gibbs’ departure?
The Special Agents Were Always the Most Important Characters in ‘NCIS’
NCIS and other crime procedurals have always been familiar with rotating and dynamic casts, but have always been reliant on a strong foundation of special core members. Given the episodic nature of the show, there are few recurring villains, which makes the antagonists of the series a far less memorable feature of the show. This puts an even greater burden on a strong cast of protagonists who help keep the series consistent and engaging over countless seasons. Gibbs was there from the beginning of the show and served as the grounding force to keep the series true to itself. He may not have been the only agent in NCIS, but he was the one who made this version of the series as memorable as it was. He had a gruff, unreadable exterior atop a loyal and virtuous heart. It was Gibbs who spearheaded the rest of the team, pushing them to maximize their potential by leading by example on how to get the job done.
Jethro Gibbs Was the Leader Who Set the Tone of the Flagship Series
One of the defining features of the NCIS franchise is the variety of demeanors between its characters across different spin-off series. There are definitive tone setters for each version of NCIS, and for the original series, that job was handled by Jethro Gibbs. NCIS: LA is set in Los Angeles, so the team interrogates suspects in a boathouse, is based in an open-air Spanish-style building, and features a former LAPD liaison as one of their prominent characters. Compared to the original, their characters are more laid-back and casual. This NCIS is based out of Washington D.C., a setting of paramount importance to the national safety these agents are meant to protect. Jethro Gibbs was the leader of that team for two decades and was the only character on the show who could truly embody everything that made the original NCIS unique to its spin-offs.
Gibbs’ character was the textbook definition of an NCIS agent— or at least the perfect version of an agent for viewers to engage with. He was incredibly effective in his job but had little patience for bureaucratic nonsense. He was patient with his squad, but held them to high standards and showed little weakness. He had a complex, tragic past but forged ahead to make sure justice was attained. The layers and depths of Gibbs set the tone for the intricate, engaging narrative arcs and relationships. He was not only the leader of the team but the backbone of the entire series.
Is Gibbs Coming Out of Retirement?
However, saying that Gibbs is the only important member of the DC-based team would be doing a disservice to Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), who has been a series regular since its second season. Characters like Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) have both found a place in the hearts of fans since their arrival in Season 14 and Season 18, respectively. Although NCIS has found some stability since the departure of Gibbs, the franchise still seems to be missing the rudder that kept the show focused for so long.
Thankfully, for those who want more of Gibbs, NCIS: Origins follows Gibbs’ early life as an agent, with Austin Stowell playing his younger self. Though the show still follows Gibbs’ past, Season 3 of Origins has confirmed that Harmon will be featured prominently in the show. Showrunner David J. North hinted that after everything that’s happened, Gibbs might be coming out of retirement. And with the events of the present day confirmed to be tied to the events in the 90s, perhaps Gibbs’ departure from NCIS is no longer a permanent one.

Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Sells for Just $2,650
A Spider-Man suit worn by Andrew Garfield during the production of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has found a new owner, and the final price is surprisingly affordable for a piece of superhero movie history.
The costume sold at auction for just $2,650, before the addition of a 25 percent buyer’s premium. The auction closed on September 1.
While that might sound like an absolute steal for an authentic Andrew Garfield Spider-Man costume, there is a reason it didn’t command the six-figure price sometimes associated with screen-used superhero memorabilia.
The suit was a production-worn practice suit rather than one of the hero costumes featured on camera in the finished 2014 film.
Garfield wore the costume during production for rehearsals, stunt preparation and camera blocking. Practice suits allow actors, stunt performers and filmmakers to plan complicated action sequences without risking damage to the considerably more expensive costumes intended for principal photography.
That distinction dramatically affects its value to collectors, but it doesn’t change the fact that the costume was actually used during the making of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and worn by Garfield himself.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 [sony pictures]
The relatively low price becomes even more surprising when compared to another famous Spider-Man costume.
In 2025, a Spider-Man suit associated with Tobey Maguire and used during the production of Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 sold for approximately $289,000, far exceeding its original $100,000 to $200,000 estimate.
Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume remains particularly popular among fans. The redesigned red-and-blue suit introduced in the sequel moved away from the look of Garfield’s first film and delivered a design much closer to Spider-Man’s traditional comic book appearance.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 auction suit [sony]
Garfield starred as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014 before eventually returning to the role alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
For one collector, $2,650 was enough to own a genuine costume worn by one of the three live-action Spider-Men. It may not have swung across the screen, but considering its connection to Garfield and the production of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it’s still a pretty remarkable piece of Spider-Man history.

Stevie Nicks’ Younger Brother Christopher Nicks Dead at 72
Stevie Nicks’ younger brother Christopher Aaron Nicks has died after a private cancer battle. He was 72.
“It is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of my father, Christopher A. Nicks, early this morning, surrounded by family,” Aaron’s daughter, Nixi Parkinson Nicks, wrote via Facebook on Saturday, September 5, confirming her father’s passing one day prior. “Some of you may know that he spent the last 2.5 years battling a cancer diagnosis, and to some this may come as a shock. If this is news to you, please know it was because he never wanted people to worry about him that he kept this to himself.”
Nixi, who her father shared with his ex-wife, Lori Perry-Nicks, a former backup singer for his famous sister, continued, “I know that he has left his mark on so many people, and this will leave many more than his immediate family with a piece of them missing. I know I speak for my dad when I say that his friends, his lost boys, meant the world to him.”
She concluded her announcement by speaking to her late father directly, writing, “Rest easy, Coach. We will see you in Neverland.”
Nixi also confirmed her father’s passing via Instagram, sharing a black-and-white photo of the devout daughter holding her dad’s hand as he appeared to lay in bed.
“Second star on the right, and straight on til morning,” she captioned the emotional post. “I love you daddy. Rest easy. “
Christopher was Stevie’s only sibling. The legendary Fleetwood Mac singer, 78, has not publicly addressed her brother’s passing at the time of publication.
Mick Fleetwood, Stevie’s former bandmate and legendary drummer, shared a tribute to Christopher via Instagram on Saturday in the wake of his death.
The passing of Chris Nicks has brought so many memories of his amazing life.. Much of course was shared connected to Fleetwood Mac..” Mick, 79, wrote alongside a throwback photo of the brother-sister duo. “His zest for life will be a forever beacon of inspiration! Chris you will be missed by me and I know the Family of Fleetwood Mac. Peace and love.”
Christopher’s ex-wife, Lori, commented on her daughter’s Facebook post announcing his death and sharing her own tribute to her forever coparent.
“Beautifully said my angle. And as the mother of a very dear friend of Christopher’s said… ‘He loved life!’ and no doubt he lived it to the fullest… Following his own rules!!!” she wrote in the comments section. “We will all miss him, in so many ways… He was an anomaly.. And they certainly broke the mold when they created him. There will never be another one like him…. I miss you already, RD…”

Kelly Osbourne Speaks Honestly About Her Shocking Weight Loss
Kelly Osbourne has finally opened up about how she really felt about her weight loss after the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne.
The TV personality admitted she looked like “the crypt keeper” and that it was hard for her to understand the criticism being directed at her due to the pain of losing her dad.
This comes weeks after Kelly Osbourne shared that she’s taking a break from the “madness” to focus on herself.

Kelly made some candid remarks about her stunning weight loss after the death of her rock legend father, Ozzy, at the age of 76 following a cardiac arrest.
During a chat with the Daily Mail, Kelly revealed how she went as far as donning a wig that would hide her cheekbones during her public outing due to how lean she had become.
“I looked like the f-cking Crypt Keeper,” the actress stated. “I said, ‘This is scary. I didn’t know I looked like this.’ My spine — you could see every single bone.”
Kelly continued, “I couldn’t see what other people saw because I was in so much pain. I just saw a broken person.”
Speaking about hiding her facial features during her 2026 Grammy Awards outing, she noted, “I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn’t see how skinny my cheekbones really were.”
The Reality TV Star Believes She Shouldn’t Have Attended The Event

Kelly noted during the interview that her stylists took note of her struggles and tried to dress her in ways that would make her look less skinny.
“They knew I was going through something. So, we were trying to find clothes to not make me look skinnier,” she said.
“I was scared,” Kelly continued, noting how she likely shouldn’t have attended he music event. “I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father’s legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don’t think I should have gone.”
“I wasn’t very well,” she added about her Grammy Awards attendance.
Speaking more about the impact of her father’s death, Kelly stressed that she shielded her son, Sidney, from the pain she felt and would always put on a cheerful attitude whenever he was in her presence.
“Whenever he walked in the room, something would come over me, and I’d snap into Miss Fun Mum,” she stated. “I didn’t cry in front of him; I’d walk out of the room. I always made sure that he was not exposed to inappropriate sorrow.”
Kelly Osbourne Talks Stepping Away ‘To Breathe’
Kelly’s candid interview comes a few weeks after she shared a stunning photo of herself relaxed on a lounge chair in a leopard-print one-piece swimsuit while soaking up the sun.
She reclined with both arms resting behind her head and one leg crossed over the other, exuding effortless confidence.
A second photo offered another look at the same poolside moment, with Kelly leaning back against the lounge chair with her arms at her sides and her blonde hair swept back.
The former reality star explained that going on the vacation was an opportunity to detach from the demands of everyday life.
“I’m really learning how important it is to step away from the madness sometimes,” she wrote on Instagram. “I get so wrapped up in life, work, people, plans… everything going on around me, that I genuinely forget I’m allowed to stop. To switch off. To breathe. To just be.”
The Reality Star Shared A Message Of Self-Care: ‘I Honestly Feel Reborn’

Kelly’s caption depicted a newfound perspective on the feeling of refreshment and relaxation.
She wrote, “This holiday has reminded me that taking a break isn’t wasting time – sometimes it’s exactly what you need to come back to yourself.”
“I honestly feel reborn. Lighter, calmer, happier… and very much NOT ready to go home,” she expressed further, adding a laughing emoji.
Kelly’s carefree vacation photos were celebrated by fans in the comments, with several commenting on her cheerful and refreshed look.
“Your dad is smiling watching you get your sparkle back,” one person wrote. Another commented, “Wow !!!!! You are stunning !! You look so happy and healthy!!!”
Kelly Osbourne Seems To Have Broken Up With Sid Wilson
Kelly’s time away also included a heartwarming moment with her 3-year-old son, Sidney. In one photo, she cuddled her son while aboard a boat. The mother and son smiled with Sidney’s arms wrapped around her neck.
Sidney is Kelly’s son, whom she had with Slipknot musician Sid Wilson in 2022. However, the couple is said to have broken up, though the news hasn’t been publicly confirmed by either of them.
In August, the TV personality intensified the rumors about their relationship when she shared a series of Instagram Stories, which have since been taken down, that appeared to take aim at Wilson, though she never mentioned him by name.
“Wake the f-ck up and take some responsibility. I will not take your sh-t anymore! I’m done. I want to be happy, and I have a beautiful son to raise. Leave me alone. Let me heal. I can’t protect you from yourself anymore,” she wrote.
Kelly later appeared to have made reference to unresolved issues involving their son, finances, and her belongings. “Also, while I’m at it, can I have my dogs back and all my possessions? Oh yeah, and maybe some child support?”
Sid, for his part, has not shared any posts that allude to the end of his relationship with Kelly.

Kelly Osbourne Addresses Weight Loss After Dad Ozzy’s Death
Kelly Osbourne is opening up about her dramatic weight loss following the death of her rock legend father, Ozzy Osbourne.
“I looked like the f***ing Crypt Keeper,” Kelly, 41, told the Daily Mail in an interview published on Saturday, September 5. “I said, ‘This is scary. I didn’t know I looked like this.’ My spine — you could see every single bone.”
She continued, “I couldn’t see what other people saw because I was in so much pain. I just saw a broken person.”
The Black Sabbath frontman’s family confirmed his death on July 22, 2025, shortly after his final concert and a public battle with Parkinson’s. He was 76.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the family’s statement read at the time. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Kelly broke her silence shortly after her father’s death, calling the rocker “the best friend I ever had.”
“I am so sad,” she wrote via her Instagram Story two days after her father’s death.
Concern regarding her thin frame hit a fever pitch when Kelly appeared alongside her mother, Sharon Osbourne, her brother, Jack Osbourne, and her ex-fiancé and former SlipKnot keyboardist Sid Wilson at the 2026 Grammys to honor her father’s legacy.
While speaking to the Daily Mail, Kelly admitted that she was afraid to appear publicly given her weight loss.
“I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn’t see how skinny my cheekbones really were,” she revealed, adding that she was worried the attention she knew she would get would distract from her father’s tribute.
“They knew I was going through something,” she continued of her stylists, who she says also purposefully dressed her in a wardrobe that would flatter — and in some cases hide — her body. “I was scared. I wanted to be there to support my mum and pay tribute to my father’s legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don’t think I should have gone. I wasn’t very well.”
Kelly previously slammed online commentators who accused her of using GLP-1 medications to lose weight in the midst of her grief.
“I don’t even know how to say this, so I’m just gonna say it,” Kelly said in a video shared during her mom’s appearance on a December 10 episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored. “To the people who keep thinking they’re being funny and mean by writing comments like ‘Are you ill?,’ or ‘Get off Ozempic,’ [or] ‘You don’t look right.’ My dad just died. And I’m doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family.”
She continued, “And I choose to share my content with you and share the happy side of my life, not the miserable side of my life.”
When describing her overwhelming grief to the outlet, Kelly admitted sadness overtook even her body’s hunger cues.
“You’re filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can’t even pop up,” she explained.

Paramount+’s Masterpiece Spy Thriller Is an Undisputed Sleeper Hit
Paramount+’s streaming chart is always dominated by Taylor Sheridan‘s TV empire, and the first week of September has not been much different. His hit espionage thriller Special Ops: Lioness is back for an even bigger third season that has been building quite a fanbase between Season 2 and 3, and now everyone has tuned in, pushing it to the top of the streamer’s global chart. Other Sheridan staples like Yellowstone, Dutton Ranch, and Tulsa King are also on the chart. South Park remains the biggest threat to Sheridan’s Paramount+ domination, but some shows like Criminal Minds and SEAL Team are also seeing significant interest. But one of the most resilient shows on Paramount+ is a two-season spy thriller that has not relented since its premiere over two months ago.
This sleek drama debuted in 2024, and critics’ reception was mixed, earning it a 66% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, viewers seemed quite impressed, and the show gained a sizable audience throughout its 10-episode first season. It was renewed for a second season, which premiered two years later on June 21, with all episodes available to stream. Critics and viewers considered the new season of The Agency a significant improvement, with scores of 92% and 93%, respectively.
The Agency Season 2 kicked things up a notch by expanding the story. It featured a sweeping narrative spanning multiple continents while keeping the core conflict at the center. The series’ return pushed the show to the top of the charts, and while it has dropped from its peak position, the show has remained a consistent performer throughout. It has been one of the most-watched shows on Paramount+ over the last week, ranked eighth by FlixPatrol at the time of writing. Unlike with Season 1, Paramount+ has not released the official viewership numbers or renewed the series yet.
What Is ‘The Agency’ About?
The drama is a spy thriller set in the CIA’s London station. It features a cast of celebrated performers, led by Michael Fassbender as an undercover agent who has just returned to his post after years undercover when the story starts. His official name is Martian, but his return comes with a secret: Martian fell in love while playing someone else. The conflict expands as he tries to hide his attachment to a target, and things get worse when other parties learn of the connection and seek to exploit it. The series also stars Jeffrey Wright, Richard Gere, Jodie Turner-Smith, John Magaro, and Saura Lightfoot-Leon, among others.
All episodes of The Agency are available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Phoebe Bridgers Wows in Naked Dress at Venice Film Festival
Fall is right around the corner, but Phoebe Bridgers turned up the heat at the 2026 Venice International Film Festival.
Stepping out at the Saturday, September 5, premiere of Primetime, Bridgers, 32, sashayed down the red carpet in a completely sheer Alexander McQueen gown. The gray frock featured billowing long sleeves and a lengthy train dotted in embroidered flowers. The Boygenius musician sported a pair of black lace undergarments that were visible underneath her translucent skirt.
Bridgers, who accessorized her ensemble with silver drop earrings and a handful of coordinating rings, styled her platinum blonde tresses into a face-framing updo.
The “Kyoto” singer, who makes her acting debut in Primetime, has long been candid about her style and picking out ‘fits that she personally prefers the best.
“I usually just style myself, and it works out great, but it’s a lot of work for the amount of stuff that I do,” Bridgers told Who What Wear in a 2021 interview. “And also, it’s way more fun to just play dress up and not wear your own clothes for stuff when possible.”
At the time, Bridgers acknowledged that she had “very specific rules” with picking outfits.
“I’ve started warming up to gray suits lately, but other than that, I don’t really wear anything other than black,” she quipped. “So I’m looking for anything black., Even in stores like Vince, which I really love, I’ll just go to the black rack. I do the same thing at thrift stores. It just makes my life a lot easier.”
While Bridgers is known for her neutral colored wardrobe, she hasn’t always stuck to one color palette.
“I wish that it was something I’d always done. Photos of me in high school — before I figured it out — are just so dark,” she recalled. “I had a dress that was covered in melons. I think it was bright yellow. That was rough. I think I just realized that all the things in my closet that were black were the most flattering. If you just invest in a great pair of shoes or something, then you can get away with really whatever. And once I figured that out, I was off to the races.”

2024’s Horror Cult Favorite Is Officially Rising From the Dead on Streaming
Delivering a new twist on a piece of classic literature isn’t rare. We often have reimaginings and new ways of interpreting the stories we grew up on. With Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein, there are a lot of adaptations in the world. Even The Nightmare Before Christmas takes elements of Frankenstein, with its spin on Sally the Ragdoll and Dr. Finkelsen. More recently, creatives like Diablo Cody and Zelda Williams took on Frankenstein with their 2024 film Lisa Frankenstein, which turned a teenage girl into the mad scientist who turns the statue of a man into her own Creature (Cole Sprouse). And now you can watch the film on Peacock later this month.
Starting on September 29, you can meet Lisa (Kathryn Newton) as she works through her grief, discovers her own power, and finds out what it means to fall in love. Lisa is lost in her new life with her father, Dale (Stranger Things actor Joe Chrest); his new wife, Janet (Carla Gugino); and her daughter, Taffy (Liza Soberano). As Lisa struggles with the vicious murder of her mother and tries to fit in at her new school, she ends up bringing the Creature to life… but she isn’t prepared for his dedication to her.
The film looks like you took a Lisa Frank notebook and made it darker and a bit more twisted. Fans loved the film, even if the general response to the movie was a little more mixed. Lisa Frankenstein is described as follows: “A coming-of-RAGE love story about a teenager and her crush, who happens to be a corpse. After a set of horrific circumstances brings him back to life, the two embark on a journey to find love, happiness — and a few missing body parts.”
‘Lisa Frankstein’ Found Its Audience
The love story of Lisa Frankenstein made it something more than just another Frankenstein story. It was bright, vibrant, weird, and something that allowed audiences who love the odder parts of Frankenstein to have something special. The critical response to the film earned it only a 52% splat rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience response was decidedly better, giving the film an 82% overall. So, if you have ever wanted to see what a twisted, yet vibrant look at Frankenstein could be, look no further than Cody and Williams’ film Lisa Frankenstein. You will want to tease your hair after watching it, though.
You can watch Lisa Frankenstein on Peacock on September 29.

‘Tombstone’s Final Quote Gave Us the Most Unforgettable 3 Words in Western Cinema
Westerns had their heyday in the 50s and 60s, but it was the resurgence of the genre in the 90s that delivered some of the best classics. Perhaps one of the most beloved is Tombstone, the 1993 film that was an outlier in many ways. Star Kurt Russell had already set himself apart in Hollywood, but he accomplished even more than meets the eye in the beloved story.
Russell’s creative assistance behind the scenes after the original director, Kevin Jarre, dropped off was instrumental to the film, as was his portrayal of the famous Wyatt Earp. Tombstone depicts his time in the titular town and his foundational relationship with Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer). His saga, as well as his battle with the Cowboys, resulted in the best three words in Western history. At its heart, Tombstone is a love letter to the impressive real-life figure. The narrative concludes with a summation of the rest of Wyatt Earp’s life that is a culmination of the larger-than-life hero viewers had gotten to know. Tombstone proves why he was such a beloved character in the world, which is more or less stated during the voice-over narration of Earp’s funeral. No other words could explain it better than “Tom Mix wept.”
‘Tombstone’ Proved Why Wyatt Earp Had Such an Impressive Legacy
Westerns have a tendency to erase any vulnerability in these real-life heroes, but Tombstone is the antithesis of that. Wyatt Earp shows the whole spectrum of the emotional rainbow, emphasized by the reactions to his death in the final voice-over. Earp was such an iconic lawman of the time that he went on to consult on some of the best Westerns.
He was such a giant in the industry that one of the pallbearers at his funeral was Western actor Tom Mix, who had forged a close personal relationship with Earp. His emotion at his funeral crystallizes why the former lawman is such a personal hero for many. Tombstone covers some of the most tormented parts of his life. His conflict with the Cowboys starts in earnest when they shoot and kill his brother Morgan (Bill Paxton) and attack and maim his other brother, Virgil (Sam Elliott).
Virgil would never again have the use of his arm, and Earp rained down bloody vengeance on the entirety of the gang. One of his most impressive acts was at a famous shootout in a creek where Wyatt walked headlong into gunfire and did not suffer a scratch while killing many Cowboys himself. This is the type of story that would appear to be fictionalized for entertainment purposes, but many primary sources confirm the event happened in real life. This is how a historical figure becomes a legend, and Tombstone honors that legacy in the Kurt Russell film.
Wyatt Earp is arguably the most famous figure in Western history, and Tombstone only covers a fraction of his life. Even though the Western takes place after he is officially retired, it delivers all the moments that make a legend. Wyatt suffers incredible losses while also finding the love of his life, Josephine (Dana Delany), who stays with him until his death. There is no question why Tom Mix cried at his funeral after viewing one of the best Westerns of all time.
