Netflix’s Answer to ‘Bosch’ Is Thriving, Just Not as Much as ‘Bridgerton’

Published

on

bridgerton-poster.jpg

There’s no debate about Netflix’s current crown jewel. Bridgerton, Shondaland’s first scripted series for the streamer, is once again dominating the conversation — and the charts. The first half of Season 4 dropped last week, and millions of viewers immediately tuned in for the Cinderella-style romance between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).

Not everyone is thrilled with the new season — it currently holds the lowest audience score of the series on Rotten Tomatoes — but popularity has never been Bridgerton’s problem. The show shot straight to the top of Netflix’s U.S. and global charts, with its only real competition coming from Fallout. Critics, meanwhile, have been kinder. Collider’s Carly Lane gave Season 4, Part 1 an 8/10, praising its improved balance between romance and supporting storylines.

New data from Samba TV only reinforces just how massive the show remains. During the live-plus-three-day window, Season 4, Part 1 pulled in 6.4 million households — a 52% increase over Season 3, Part 1. Even more impressive? Most viewers watched at least three of the four episodes. That kind of retention is basically unicorn-level in modern streaming.

Is ‘Bridgerton’ Worth Watching?

Collider’s review stated that Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 marked the series at its strongest yet, reinvigorated by a compelling new romance and a broader view of Regency society. Luke Thompson’s Benedict finally stepped confidently into the spotlight, but it was newcomer Yerin Ha who truly elevated the season as Sophie Baek, a working-class heroine whose perspective expanded the show beyond the wealthiest members of the ton.

Despite any minor drawbacks, Season 4 is already raising the bar for Bridgertont hanks to a compelling new lead in Yerin Ha, a bigger spotlight on one of the most underappreciated classes in the Regency series’ society, and a continued dedication to prioritizing the primary reason viewers keep tuning in time and time again: the seemingly insurmountable journey to a happily ever after. There’s no telling yet how Benedict and Sophie’s romance will play out in the season’s last four episodes, but Part 1 leaves things off on a tantalizing note that will likely leave viewers desperate for more.

The Lincoln Lawyer and Bridgerton are currently streaming on Netflix, while Bosch and Bosch: Legacy currently stream on Prime Video.

Valentine’s Day Just Got a Lot More Romantic for Jane Austen Fans

Published

on

Sandition TV Show

The season of love —Valentine’s Day — is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with the queen of romance herself, Jane Austen. Austen is widely regarded for her enduring, witty, and genre-defining love stories, such as Pride and Prejudice, which has been adapted multiple times for bothsmall and large screens over the years. While that may be her most popular work, thanks to Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy’s compelling romance, several others also deserve as much attention, including her unfinished 1817 novel that was adapted into a three-part series.

Titled Sanditon, the British series ran from August 25, 2019, to April 24, 2023, on ITV in the U.K. In the U.S., on the other hand, it premiered on January 12, 2020, on PBS, followed by Season 2 on March 20, 2022, and Season 3 on March 19, 2023. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Austen favorite is getting some extra love thanks to PBS, as it has been confirmed that it will be way easier to stream in the U.S.

Starting on Valentine’s Day, all three seasons of Sanditon will be available to stream free on PBS.org and the PBS app for a full month, ending on March 14, 2026. The historical drama joins a boatload of Austen adaptations that have become easier to stream this season of love. Sanditon was adapted by Emmy and BAFTA award-winning screenwriter Andrew Davies from Austen’s novel, originally called The Brothers, written only months before her death. It follows Charlotte Heywood as she moves to the quiet fishing village of Sanditon for a fresh start, only to meet Sidney Parker, a charming man who has ambitions to turn the tranquil seaside residence into a luxury resort.

Who Stars in ‘Sanditon’?

Rose Williams and Theo James lead the beautiful tale of Sanditon as Charlotte Heywood and Sidney Parker. They are joined by Kate Ashfield as Mary Parker, Crystal Clarke as Georgiana Lambe, Turlough Convery as Arthur Parker, Jack Fox as Sir Edward Denham, Kris Marshall as Tom Parker, and Anne Reid as Lady Denham. James left the series after Season 1, along with Mark Stanley and Leo Suter, who hadmoved on to new projects.

Sanditon begins streaming for free on PBS.org and the PBS app on February 14. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.

Meghan McCain Slams Recently Canceled Talk Shows as ‘Sublimely Boring’

Published

on

Meghan McCain is not holding back when it comes to sharing her opinion on why she thinks the axe fell on several daytime talk shows this week.

Taking to social media on Friday, February 6, McCain, 41, claimed the canceled shows weren’t interesting enough to remain on air.

“The reason all these daytime talk shows are being canceled is because they are sublimely boring and all the hosts want to be loved,”  McCain, who previouslu cohosted talk shows The View and Outnumbered, wrote via X.

McCain said Wendy Williams, who hosted The Wendy Williams Show, which aired from 2011 until 2022,  as well as appearing on The View, was a much more interesting option in the past because of her willingness to be outspoken.

Sherri Shepherd is speaking out after her daytime talk show was cancelled after four seasons. “Wow! I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for me and The @sherrishowtv,” Shepherd, 58, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, February 3. “You might’ve noticed that yesterday and today I was struggling because I wasn’t feeling up to […]

“Wendy Williams was the GOAT because she said the quiet things we all were thinking out loud. She was messy, raw, real and wildly entertaining,” McCain continued.

While McCain did not namecheck a specific show or host in her post, Kelly Clarkson and Sherri Shepard both announced this week that their respective talk shows would not be continuing past the current season.

Clarkson, 43, shared on Monday, February 2, that her eponymous show will come to an end after its seventh season which is currently on air.

“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at The Kelly Clarkson Show, both in Los Angeles and New York,” Clarkson said in a statement to Us Weekly. “There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner.”

She continued, “Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”

Despite the show’s axing, Clarkson insisted that “this isn’t goodbye” and shared that she will be still making music and making appearances on The Voice.

“You never know where I might show up next. But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years,” she said.

The same day, Lionsgate-owned syndicated TV production company Debmar-Mercury confirmed that Sherri Shepherd‘s daytime talk show, Sherri, will conclude after four seasons.

“This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production — which has found strong creative momentum this season — or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd,” Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus told Us. “We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.”

Gabourey Sidibe Reacts to Kathy Hilton Confusing Her For Lizzo

Published

Actress Gabourey Sidibe is gearing up to film the upcoming 13th season of FX’s “American Horror Story.” In the meantime, she recently appeared on a podcast and responded to the now-viral 2022 clip of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kathy Hilton, apparently mistaking the actress for Lizzo after seeing a photo of the singer. This has led many fans who once considered the clip a lighthearted mistake to now view it as the now-66-year-old being mean to Sidibe. Others believe it’s all a misunderstanding.

Sidibe is reacting to the widely discussed clip of Hilton mistaking her for Lizzo.

Sidibe was on the One 54 podcast on February 4. During the episode, the “American Horror Story” actress discussed a range of topics, but one of the sticking points has been her reaction to Hilton’s confusion of her with Lizzo. This came during a part of the interview where the hosts asked, “Were you mistaken for Lizzo? I think that Paris Hilton’s mom…?”

She responded, “And that was weird because I have been to that lady’s house and had a meeting with her. I was like, ‘I know you, Kathy.’” The hosts then noted that “Lizzo’s tall.”

Sidibe added, “I’ve never met Lizzo, but Lizzo and I do different things. I’ve been confused for many a Black fat, like many, many, many women. And it’s always weird and tinged with racism. I did think that was weird, Kathy Hilton. Because I have been to that woman’s house and had a meeting with her, because she wanted to dress me. I was like, that’s so strange.”

From there, she mentioned that Hilton referred to her as “Precious” rather than by name. Notably, Sidibe played Precious in the 2009 film of the same name.

Kathy Hilton Went Viral For Her Initial Comments

Hilton appeared on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” in 2022 as a guest. While on, host Andy Cohen played a game in which he showed pictures of celebrities to Hiton, who would then identify them. One of the photos featured was of Lizzo. Upon being asked if she knew the singer, she said, “I feel like I do. Precious?”

Cohen replied, “No, that’s not…” Crystal Kung Minkoff, who was also on the show, tried to fix the situation, saying, “She is previous, though. Lizzo is precious.” This led Hilton to say, “That’s what I call her. Her nickname is Precious, to me.”

Following the clip of Sidibe making the rounds online, many social media users offered their opinions on what Hilton had said and how the actress responded. One person seemingly defending the now mother of two. They wrote on X, “But Kathy gets away with it as usual.” Someone else said, “And she has every reason to feel this way.”

However, some people defended Hilton, saying she mistook Sidibe for a model who goes by the name Precious. That person said, “I genuinely think she thought Lizzo was Precious Lee… Precious is a well-known plus-size model in the industry and runs in the same circles … I don’t see a world in which Kathy genuinely thought Lizzo was the fake character ‘Precious’ from a 2009 indie film.”

Someone else wrote, “It’s hilarious to me that anyone thinks Kathy even remembers a character from a movie that’s almost 20 years old. She confused Lizzo for Precious Lee.”

The Oscar Nominee Recently Became A Mom

Sidibe has been married to internet personality Brandon Frankel since 2021. The couple welcomed twins Cooper and Maya in 2024, and in April 2025, she opened up to PEOPLE about what she’s learned about balancing it all. Notably, this came as her movie, “Give Me Back My Daughter,” was set to premiere on Lifetime. Sidibe said, “I would say take the time to — it feels stupid to say — hold space for yourself.”

Timothy Busfield‘s Attorney Slams Indictment

Published

Timothy Busfield at The 5th Annual Jewish Image Awards, Beverly Hills Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA 10-10-05

Timothy Busfield is determined to “fight” the child sex abuse charges against him, as his attorney recently made clear after the actor-director was indicted by a New Mexico grand jury.

Weeks after he was granted release from jail pending trial, Busfield was officially indicted on Friday, February 6, stemming from charges that he had inappropriate contact with two minor boys on the set of Fox’s “The Cleaning Lady.”

Speaking exclusively with Deadline, Timothy Busfield’s attorney, Larry Stein, said that although the “indictment was not unexpected,” he and his client intend to vigorously “fight” the charges against the “Thirtysomething” star.

“As the saying goes, a grand jury will indict a ham sandwich,” Stein began. “What is deeply concerning is that the District Attorney is choosing to proceed on a case that is fundamentally unsound and cannot be proven at trial.”

“The detention hearing exposed fatal weaknesses in the State’s evidence — gaps that no amount of charging decisions can cure,” he continued. “This prosecution appears driven by something other than the facts or the law. Mr. Busfield will fight these charges at every stage and looks forward to testing the State’s case in open court — where evidence matters — not behind closed doors.”

Per PEOPLE, Busfield was indicted by the Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child, which are all classified as third-degree felonies.

“As with all criminal proceedings, Mr. Busfield is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law,” Bregman said via statement following the indictment announcement. “This case will proceed through the judicial process and is expected to move forward to trial.”

“The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office remains committed to doing everything possible to protect children and ensure justice for victims across New Mexico,” the statement said, according to the outlet.

On Jan. 20, Judge David A. Murray decided to grant Timothy Busfield release from jail after hearing statements from both the defense and the prosecution.

The conditions of his release included the following: Being present for all upcoming court hearings, prohibited from having any “unsupervised contact with any minor children in this case,” with instructions to “not to have any contact with the alleged victims or their families, and you’re also not to discuss the case with any witnesses.”

Judge Murray also addressed the prosecution’s claims of past sexual assault allegations against Busfield that never resulted in any charges against him.

“There are no similar allegations involving children in his past. There’s no evidence of non-compliance with prior court orders. Rather, this defendant self-surrendered and submitted himself to this Court’s jurisdiction demonstrating compliance with the court order for his arrest,” the judge said.

Audio Released Could Work For The Defense In Busfield’s Case

In an audio obtained by TMZ, the two male minor victims in the case were interviewed by police in November 2024 and asked directly if they were inappropriately touched by Busfield.

In the audio, a police officer can be heard asking the boys a series of questions, including: “So, you know what is right and wrong, right? You know no one can touch your private areas?”

One of the boys replied to the officer, saying, “Yeah, but he doesn’t touch those parts.” The other young boy added, “No, he’s never touched me… never.”

These statements in the audio will prove to be crucial to the defense’s case, as they also believe they contradict more recent claims against Busfield as well.
