Rebecca Gayheart Addresses GoFundMe After Eric Dane’s Death

Published

Rebecca Gayheart is acknowledging the GoFundMe set up in an effort to support her children in the wake of their father Eric Dane’s untimely death.

Gayheart, 54, shared multiple throwback family photos with Dane and their two daughters via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, February 21, while linking to the GoFundMe campaign meant to financially support their kids after Dane died following a brief battle with ALS. He was 53.

“Thank you to everyone,” the widow wrote next to a screenshot of the fundraiser and a link for fans and followers to donate.

Us Weekly confirmed the former Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria star’s death on Thursday, February, 19.

“With heavy hearts, we share that Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” a statement from his family read. “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world. Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.”

The message continued, “He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”

Dane announced he was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in April 2025, nearly one year before he died. The progressive neurodegenerative disease destroys motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord, per the Mayo Clinic, leading to muscle weakness, atrophy and eventual paralysis. There is no known cure.

“I’ve always had a sense of humor about this,” Dane said of his diagnosis while appearing in a Famous Last Words interview, what turned out to be the late actor’s final interview before his death. (The interview aired on Netflix the day after Dane died.) “It’s really kind of interesting what’s happening to my body. The mechanics of this disease is pretty interesting to me. It’s when you zoom in and look at how it affects the individual moments is when it can actually bring you down a little bit.”

He continued at the time, “My spirit has been surprisingly pretty buoyant through this journey. I have no idea, there’s no reason for me to be happy in any individual moment, but I am, The progression of this thing is really just remarkable. You know, I’m pretty sure I sound pretty good too, but to me, I feel like I sound like a frog.”

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to support the actor’s family in the wake of his death — a move Dane’s friend, Mike McGuiness, later defended via social media.

“My friend of almost two decades just let us after a brutal battle with ALS,” McGuiness wrote via Instagram on Friday, February 20. “I’m the positive spin guy and can come up with something hopeful in most any situation. This one broke me.”

McGuiness continued, “COVID and ALS did a number on his work life and he, sadly, couldn’t leave his family with the resourced he had hoped. A GoFundMe is being made and I will post it on my story for anyone able to help.”

The Government Wants You to Eat These 5 Invasive Species

Published

on

Imagine serving your guests a rich, aromatic gumbo — the kind that fills the kitchen with warmth and draws everyone to the table. Now imagine telling them the star protein tastes like rabbit, costs next to nothing, and actually helps restore fragile wetland ecosystems.

Welcome to the world of invasivorism, where your adventurous palate becomes an act of conservation.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is actively encouraging people to eat invasive species to protect native animals and ecosystems. And before you wrinkle your nose, consider this: the flavor profiles are genuinely compelling, the cooking methods are familiar, and the environmental payoff is real.

What Is Invasivorism — and Why Should Home Cooks Care?

Eating invasive species, also known as “invasivorism,” is nothing new.

The term was first coined in 2010 by New York Times journalist James Gorman. Since then, the concept has steadily grown from a niche ecological idea into a genuine food movement.

1242000049 Scientists Discovered a New Prehistoric Species With One of the Strangest Jaws Ever

Related: Living Fossil Discovered With ‘Weird’ Jaw. It’s a New Species

Picture this: you’re a scientist digging near the Amazon rainforest, and you pull a jawbone out of the ground that looks so wrong you assume it broke underground. Then you find another one. Same weird twist. Then another. And another. Nine total, each with the same baffling shape. That’s exactly what happened to a team […]

Many organizations have started to hold hunting tournaments and derbies to help deplete populations of invasive species. Some even partner with local diners to add the species to their menus — meaning you might find these unconventional proteins on a restaurant plate near you.

For the home cook, invasivorism offers something irresistible: guilt-free protein that actually helps the environment. Every bite reduces the population of creatures that are actively devouring native plants, destabilizing ecosystems and tearing up farmland.

The economic stakes are enormous.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, “invasive species have cost North America $2 billion per year in the early 1960s to over $26 billion per year since 2010.” Globally, it is estimated that the economic cost of invasive species has been $1.288 trillion over the past 50 years.

“Eating invasive species can help protect native animals and plants. By hunting, trapping, and eating these invaders, we can reduce their numbers and the harm they cause,” the FWS wrote in a 2025 article.

So what’s on the menu? Let’s break it down, species by species.

Swamp Rats: The Lean Star of Your Next Gumbo

First on the FWS list is nutria — also known as swamp rats. Yes, you read that correctly. But set aside the name for a moment and focus on what matters: flavor and texture.

The FWS describes nutria as “oversized, wetland-loving rodents” native to South America that are devouring marshlands in the Gulf of America Coast, Atlantic Coast and Pacific Northwest.

Their suggestion for the kitchen? Cook yourself up a bowl of nutria gumbo. “Their meat is lean, mild, and tastes like rabbit,” the FWS adds.

For home cooks familiar with braising rabbit or using it in stews, nutria slots right into your existing repertoire. That lean, mild profile means it takes beautifully to bold Cajun seasonings, a dark roux, and slow simmering alongside okra and andouille.

Northern Snakehead: A Firm, Flaky Taco Night

If you’re a fish taco devotee — and who isn’t — the northern snakehead deserves a spot on your radar.

This invasive, predatory freshwater fish is native to Asia, and its ability to spend several days out of water allows them to wiggle their way across land into new freshwater habitats. They’re frequently seen in Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern U.S. waterways.

“Luckily, they’re delicious with a firm, white, and flaky meat,” the FWS wrote in 2025.

The FWS also suggests grilling or frying northern snakehead meat, adding that they make excellent fish tacos. Think a crispy battered fillet tucked into a warm tortilla with a bright slaw and a squeeze of lime.

Silver Carp: Surprisingly Tasty Crispy Fish Cakes

Can’t find northern snakehead meat? Then try the high-jumping silver carp — frequently seen in Midwest and Southeast rivers and lakes.

The FWS suggests trying them grilled, blackened or turning them into crispy fish cakes because they’re “surprisingly tasty.” For the home cook, fish cakes are a perfect gateway preparation: flake the meat, bind it with egg, season generously, form into patties and pan-fry until golden and crunchy on the outside.

And her story is arriving alongside a feel-good milestone: 27 turtles of […]

Serve with a remoulade or tartar sauce, and you have a dish that could easily anchor a weeknight dinner or impress at a Saturday gathering.

Green Iguana: The Chicken of the Trees

Next up on the menu? Iguana stew. The FWS describes the green iguana as the “chicken of the trees” due to its mild flavor — a nickname that immediately signals versatility in the kitchen.

Green iguanas are native to Central and South America, but are currently eating native plants and destabilizing seawalls in Florida and other warm states.

For Florida-based home cooks and locavores especially, this presents a fascinating opportunity: a locally sourced, hyperlocal protein that practically asks to be braised low and slow into a comforting stew.

Wild Boar: The Crown Jewel of Invasive Proteins

And last but not least, you can cook yourself up a plate of feral hogs or wild boar.

Native to Europe and Asia, these hogs and boar are invasive in Southeastern U.S., Texas and California. They tear up farmland, forests and wetlands and devour anything in their path.

“But there’s a silver lining because wild boar is some of the best-tasting invasive meat you can get,” the FWS writes, adding that the meat is “leaner and richer in flavor than store-bough pork.”

The meat makes a good smoked barbecue, hearty chili, burger, taco or ragu over pasta. For the home cook, that ragu alone is worth the exploration — imagine a slow-cooked wild boar sauce, richer and more complex than anything from conventionally raised pork, ladled over fresh pappardelle. That’s a dinner party centerpiece.

Beyond the FWS List: More Species Worth Exploring

According to Eat the Invaders, a website created by University of Vermont conservation biologist Joe Roman, the FWS’ list is only the beginning of what you can put on your next plate.

Some of the species listed on the website include lionfish, garden snail, armored catfish, crayfish and common carp — expanding the possible pantry for any adventurous cook even further.

Miley Cyrus Responds To Mounting Super Bowl Buzz

Published

on

Miley Cyrus in concert at Wembley Stadium

Miley Cyrus is weighing in on one of the biggest rumors surrounding her career, a potential Super Bowl halftime performance. The pop star, who is currently a betting favorite to headline next year’s show, is getting candid about whether she’d actually take the stage, and why the opportunity comes with more pressure than excitement. Miley Cyrus is also opening up about where she stands in her life today, from reclaiming her “Hannah Montana” identity to finally finding peace after years in the spotlight.

Miley Cyrus Admits Super Bowl Halftime Show ‘Feels Like Too Much Pressure’

As speculation grows around her possibly headlining the Super Bowl, Cyrus made it clear she isn’t rushing to say yes. “I always think the Super Bowl feels like too much pressure,” she told Variety. “I would have to do the mental work of making it not about the Super Bowl, because then you can’t help but go, ‘It’s millions of people, and it’s the most-watched thing in the world.’”

While she hasn’t ruled it out completely, the “LOL” actress explained that she would need to approach the performance in a way that feels authentic to her. “But if I could find a way to make it exactly what the Hannahversary was, taking a journey through the discography and appreciating each song, each era for what it is, I think I could find it in myself,” the singer admitted.

Cyrus Says Public Perception And The Industry Have Changed

Looking back, Cyrus acknowledged how difficult it once was to navigate fame as a former child star, especially during the height of tabloid culture.

But now, the former Disney Channel star believes things have improved. “We’re much more tolerant and celebratory of people’s individuality than we were 10 years ago,” she told Variety. “I would like to think that I’ve championed some of that.”

Miley Cyrus Reclaims ‘Hannah Montana’ And Embraces Her Full Identity

One of the biggest revelations from Cyrus is how her relationship with “Hannah Montana” has evolved over time. “I used to think of Hannah as something separate from myself,” the “Party in the U.S.A.” singer said.

Miley explained that she viewed Hannah as a fantasy, as a wig she put on to play pretend. But recently she had an epiphany. “This special is my reclaiming of merging Hannah and Miley together,” the actress said.

“I think I created a Miley Cyrus persona to protect myself,” she added. “So I could have the Miley behind closed doors. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve been able to integrate what I love about all of them into one being.”

Cyrus Says She’s Found The Perfect Balance Between Fame And Normal Life

Today, the “Wrecking Ball” singer says she’s created a life that allows her to enjoy both worlds, fame and normalcy, without having to choose between them. “I get so much of every single thing I want,” she said. “My relationship is private, my business is successful, and I get to have the small things people take for granted, like waking up in my own bed and feeding my dogs.”

“But then I also get to be Hannah again and have people sobbing because they just saw ‘This Is the Life’ live. I love that I’ve curated my life that way,” the actress added.

Miley Cyrus Teases ‘Hannah Montana’ Anniversary Special With Nostalgic Throwback Moments

Miley Cyrus’ latest interview also comes as she gears up for the highly anticipated “Hannah Montana” 20th anniversary special, and fans are already getting a taste of what’s to come.

A newly released teaser offers a glimpse at both her return to the iconic role and her sit-down interview with host Alex Cooper of “Call Her Daddy.” During the conversation, Cooper doesn’t hold back, asking the question fans have been dying to know: “What Disney boy did you have the biggest crush on at the time?”

“Get the tea kettle,” Cyrus responds, hinting that she’s ready to spill some behind-the-scenes secrets.

The First Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Is Here To Save The MCU

The First Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Is Here To Save The MCU

By Jonathan Klotz
| Published

After years of anxiously waiting, the first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has arrived, and it’s everything fans have been hoping for. Unlike the comic book arc it’s named after, the movie is coming after the crowd-pleasing blockbuster No Way Home, which was stuffed to the gills with spider-nostalgia. The two-minute and 40-second trailer that was released today is crammed full of references not to the movies, but to the comics, and fans are already losing their minds.

A Brand New Day For Peter Parker

Peter Parker In His Natural Environment: Depression

The trailer starts with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker sullenly watching a video of his bestie, Ned (Jacob Batalon), and the love of his life, MJ (Zendaya, the love of Tom Holland’s life), both of whom have magically forgotten who Peter Parker is. As the trailer reveals, both of them are still around Peter, who moved in down the hall from MJ and gets to watch her make out with a new guy, played by Ashoka’s Emand Esfandi. We don’t learn his name, but if it’s Paul, you’ll never hear the end of it from comic fans.

The Punisher

While no one is more important than Paul, the Brand New Day trailer shows Spider-Man and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) teaming up, sort of, complete with the Punisher’s van getting in on the action. Kevin Feige said that this version of The Punisher would be a little different compared to the R-rated version from Daredevil, but it’s still a fun team-up to finally see on the big screen.

Signs Of The Other?

Brand New Day also appears to be about Peter getting sick, or mutating, during a scene with his powers failing to work as he wakes up from a web cocoon. There are a few comic storylines this could be hinting at, though the most likely is “The Other.” During that story arc, Peter’s sick, wakes up in a cocoon, sheds his body, like a reptile does its skin, and oh yeah, has to deal with Morlun, the immortal spider-person eating monster. Mark Ruffalo’s appearance as Dr. Banner points to this, as in the comics, Peter goes to Mr. Fantastic and Hank Pym for help.

Boomerang

What the Brand New Day trailer makes explicitly clear is the sheer amount of villains showing up during the movie. We see Boomerang, Tarantula (the guy with the spike coming out of his foot), Scorpion finally appears, and oddly, The Hand ninjas make their big screen debut in the MCU. Not seen in the trailer is Charlie Cox, either as Matt Murdock or as Daredevil, Marvin Jones III as Tombstone isn’t seen, and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is nowhere to be found.

Scorpion

We still don’t know who Sadie Sink is playing in Brand New Day. She could be Firestar, Typhoid Mary, Screwball, or even Carlie Cooper, Peter’s other redhead girlfriend. It’s a testament to Disney’s ability to keep secrets under wraps that we’re this close to release and still don’t know. That and Tom Holland, notorious leaker, has been kept far away from every microphone.

The MCU has been treading water since Deadpool & Wolverine. Thunderbolts, Captain America: Brave New World, and Fantastic Four all released to diminishing returns putting the future of the MCU into the hands of Tom Holland. Again.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31.

Young and Restless Early Spoilers March 23-27: Matt Turns Violent & Jack Left Heartbroken

Published

on

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) - Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman)

Young and the Restless spoilers for March 23-27, 2026 expect Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) attacking and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) devastated.

As we always do on early edition day, we talk about what’s coming the rest of this week. Then we dig into what is ahead for next week.

Young and the Restless Spoilers Wednesday, March 18th: Lauren Accepts Phyllis’s Offer

So, on Wednesday, March 18th, we have Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc). He is back in Genoa City. He has been gone for a trip to New York City and he really wants to take Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) and sweep her away on a vacation. But she tells Michael she can’t because she is considering running Newman Enterprises alongside Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), who has renamed it Summers Conglomerate.

I don’t know that I love that name at all. Michael thinks Phyllis is going to fail simply because Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will never stop and he will be relentless. But Lauren is not afraid of Victor. And while she says she feels bad for Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), she does not feel bad for Victor at all. She thinks this is a karmic slap that he deserved.

Y&R Spoilers: Lauren Accepts Phyllis’ Job Offer

Michael agrees that Phyllis really accomplished something. She did a thing. And Lauren thinks that running the company would be a challenge, but she’s absolutely up for it. And then she and Michael head over to see Phyllis, who’s expecting Lauren to reject her, and Phyllis is absolutely thrilled when instead Lauren accepts her offer to sit by her side. Phyllis needs a partner in crime.

Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is upset when he comes to see Phyllis on Wednesday that she gave Chancellor to Victor because Jack is free. No thanks to Victor at all. And Phyllis is surprised by this update. But the bottom line is she already gave the company to Victor and she did it for the Abbotts. So, he tricked her. Billy’s irate, but Phyllis insists she was not trying to do Billy dirty. And he worries that Victor is still going to be coming for Phyllis to get everything back that he lost.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Noah Makes a Bold Move

Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) updates Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) and Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) and tells them that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) are in Las Vegas. They’re trying to find Riza to use her to get to Matt.

And Sharon’s worried about Adam, but I think we all know he’s not the problem brother right now. And Sienna says she thought Matt had been cheating and having an affair with somebody in Vegas, and that might have been Riza. She had seen some text from somebody with the initial R.

Plus, Noah gets another threatening text from Matt about making the most of the time he has left. And see you soon, you know, vague threatening stuff. So, Noah texts back and he calls Matt a coward and calls him out, you know, saying, “Come at me.” Sienna doesn’t think that Noah sending that message was a very good idea, but he already did it. He seems to have inherited that hothead gene from his dad, Nick.

Y&R Spoilers: Sally is Billy’s Rock

Billy tells Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) that Jack is safe, but Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is enraged and that she has moved out of the mansion. And Sally hopes that the two of them will work it out. Billy tells her that Phyllis already gave Chancellor back to Victor.

Billy’s quite upset that he lost Chancellor again and Sally actually feels bad for him and says that he can always come work with her. And Billy admits that he had gotten obsessed again. He let it get away from him and he knows he needs to chill out.

Sally thinks Billy should take some time away, leave Genoa City, go see Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) and make things right with his mom, and Billy agrees to consider it and he’s very happy to have Sally’s love and advice. He’s very lucky to have all that.

Young and Restless Spoilers: Nick Tries to Get Rid of Adam

Meanwhile, Nick and Adam are in Vegas and Nick tells Adam he can always go back to Genoa City if this is too much for him. And Nick says that he can just get the info from Riza and go home. Adam’s wondering why Nick seems to be trying to get rid of him. I think I know why. And it rhymes with fentanyl.

Adam says that Riza isn’t going to talk to Nick and he needs to lie low, stay out of the way while he does this, but he gets hotheaded with Adam. And Adam says that he’ll go see Riza, he’ll get the information.

Then Nick can do whatever he wants to do with Matt once they have him. And Adam leaves Riza a message saying it is Spider. If you remember, that was his old card sharp name from years ago. Was it like 2019 when he came in as the recast?

Thursday and Friday on Y&R: March Madness Preemptions

Thursday, March 19th and Friday, March 20th, Y&R is preempted for CBS Sports coverage of March Madness. Boo to that. That’s what ESPN is for.

Young and the Restless Spoilers Week of March 23rd-27th: Adam Held at Gunpoint

The following week, March 23rd to 27th, we’re going to pick back up with new episodes. Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) has some issues with Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and really needs Sharon to help and intervene. I suspect Mariah wants to plead guilty.

She said that before and I think she’s going to reiterate it instead of having Christine work on a temporary insanity plea. And Sharon’s worries intensify next week and she may beg Mariah to just let Christine do her job and do what’s best so she doesn’t ruin her future. But Mariah doesn’t feel like she deserves a future.

Nick updates Noah that Adam has reached out to Riza. And I wonder if Noah is going to tell his dad about the threatening text and especially that Noah is goading Matt and trying to get him to show his face. Sounds like he thinks Noah might be that Noah might think Matt is in town, but it definitely looks like he’s in Vegas.

Young and Restless Spoilers: Adam in Trouble

Adam winds up being held at gunpoint by his old Vegas pal, Riza. And I wonder if Matt has warned Riza about his beef with the Newmans. Lauren is ready to kick things into high gear with Phyllis. So, I do have a question. Who’s running Fenmore’s if Lauren is over at Summers Conglomerate and fighting off Victor, who isn’t going to stop coming for his company that he wants back?

Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) is going to circle back to Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) soon and press her on seducing Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). All of this is insane because Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) was finally done with the Audra vendetta and was ready to let it go. And of course, this is going to reignite everything and result in her murdery secret coming out, which is Holden’s murdery secret, too. So, he shot himself in the foot.

Patty and Diane Face Off on Y&R

Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) is not done yet. We’ll see if she faces criminal charges. We know for sure that Patty has to face Diane, who is going to confront her soon and rage about her drugging and molesting Jack. We know Patty really hates Diane, and with good reason. And you know, Jack’s going to keep trying to explain himself, but Diane’s just too mad right now to even hear him.

Nikki and Diane are both staying at the GCAC, and I expect some unpleasant confrontations in the hallway over what Victor did to Jack and how he weaponized crazy Patty. And Jack’s going to keep trying to convince Diane to come home to him. And I also anticipate some more scenes with Jack and Nikki where he needs to tell her what’s going on.

Lily Comes Home

Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is back soon and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) want her far away from Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) who of course wants to make things right with his ex. Billy considers that trip to London to see Jill.

Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) and Sharon cannot stop worrying about Adam and Nick and Adam may be increasingly worried about Nick who is increasingly off-kilter. Noah continues to provoke Matt and Nick’s gonna be out of fentanyl soon and desperate for more.

Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox Return to Young and the Restless

Also, we know that Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox are back. They have filmed new scenes for Young and the Restless that are airing in April 2026. And I feel like this might be some kind of memorial sort of thing for Neil Winters. If you remember, he passed away on screen April 23rd, 2019. And so with them coming in April, it feels like it has to be tied into a Neil-centric thing. We’ll see more on that soon.
