Netflix’s Fantastical Mystery Adaptation Just Got a Magical New Trailer

Published

remarkably-bright-creatures-placeholder-poster.jpg

Netflix is off to a hot start in 2026 when it comes to its big original movies. Starting with the acclaimed Emily Henry rom-com adaptation, People We Meet on Vacation, critics and audiences have both mostly been on board for what the streamer is serving up of late, from the Matt Damon and Ben Affleck heist thriller The Rip to Alan Ritchson‘s gritty sci-fi thriller War Machine, and the Peaky Blinders sequel film, The Immortal Man. This month will look to keep the success going with a new giant shark disaster flick, Thrash, and the tense survival thriller Apex, led by Charlize Theron and Eric Bana. It’s in May, however, when one of the platform’s most anticipated features will finally swim onto screens.

Remarkably Bright Creatures is slated to swim onto Netflix exactly one month from now with a cast anchored by Sally Field, Lewis Pullman, and Alfred Molina. However, only two of those three will be appearing on-screen. Field leads the trio as Tova, a widow spending her days cleaning the local aquarium during off-hours, when she meets a couple of unexpected friends in the form of a young man seeking family, played by Pullman, and a cantankerous octopus, voiced by Molina. The story is adapted from Shelby Van Pelt‘s debut novel of the same name, which burst onto the scene in 2022 and became an overwhelming success through word of mouth, with over 3.5 million copies sold to this day and a staggering run of over 65 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. In anticipation of the film’s arrival, a new trailer has been released, teasing the heartfelt journey between the trio as they rediscover their sense of wonder together.

Much of the footage is narrated by Marcellus the octopus, who, for the most part, isn’t fond of humans from what little of their lives he’s seen from his tank. However, he experiences more appreciation for Tova than any of them, and he takes an interest in her budding bond with the wayward Cameron (Pullman). Initially, they don’t start on the right foot, given that Cameron is positioned as her replacement at the aquarium. With time, though, they each discover there’s more to each other’s stories. Tova uses the aquarium as a place of respite after not just losing her husband, but also her son, while Cameron is merely seeking work while he tries to find his long-lost dad. Marcellus is smart enough to deduce that they’re both suffering from a similar void in their lives, yet, perhaps, they’re the perfect people to fill it for each other. They slowly become the found family they both lack, pushing each other outside their respective bubbles, with a little assistance from their slimy eight-armed pal.

The Academy Has Decided
Your Perfect Film Is…

Your answers have pointed to one Oscar Best Picture winner above all others. This is the film that was made for the way your mind works.

Parasite

You are drawn to films that operate on multiple levels simultaneously — that begin in one genre and quietly, brilliantly migrate into another. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a film about class, desire, and the architecture of inequality that manages to be darkly funny, deeply suspenseful, and genuinely shocking across a single extraordinary running time. Your instinct is for cinema that hides its true intentions until the moment it’s ready to reveal them. Parasite is exactly that — a film that rewards close attention and punishes assumptions, right up to its devastating final image.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

You want it all — and this film gives you all of it. The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the most maximalist films ever made: action comedy, multiverse sci-fi, family drama, existential crisis, and a genuinely earned emotional core that sneaks up on you amid the chaos. You are someone who responds to ambition, who doesn’t want cinema to choose between being entertaining and being meaningful. This film refuses that choice entirely. It is overwhelming by design, and its overwhelming nature is precisely the point — because the feeling of being crushed by infinite possibility is exactly what it’s about.

Oppenheimer

You are drawn to cinema on a grand scale — films that understand history not as a backdrop but as a force, and that place their characters inside that force and watch what happens. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is a film about the terrifying gap between what we can do and what we should do, told with the full weight of one of the most consequential moments in human history behind it. You want your films to feel important without feeling self-important — to earn their ambition through sheer craft and the gravity of their subject. Oppenheimer does exactly that. It is enormous, complicated, and refuses easy comfort.

Birdman

You are drawn to films that foreground their own construction — that make the how of the filmmaking part of the what it’s about. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, shot to appear as a single continuous take, is cinema examining itself through the cracked mirror of a fading actor’s ego. You respond to formal daring, to the feeling that a film is doing something that probably shouldn’t be possible. Michael Keaton’s performance and Emmanuel Lubezki’s restless camera create something genuinely unlike anything else — a film that is simultaneously about creativity, relevance, self-destruction, and the impossibility of ever truly knowing if your work means anything at all.

No Country for Old Men

You are drawn to cinema that trusts silence, that refuses to explain itself, and that treats dread as a form of meaning. The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is a film about the arrival of a new kind of evil — implacable, arbitrary, and utterly indifferent to the moral frameworks we use to make sense of the world. It is one of the most formally controlled films ever made, and its controlled restraint is what makes it so terrifying. You want your films to haunt you, not comfort you. You are not interested in resolution if resolution would be dishonest. No Country for Old Men is honest in a way that most cinema never dares to be.

‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’ Cast Brought Heart and Levity to the Story

Where the Crawdads sing director Olivia Newman directed Remarkably Bright Creatures and co-wrote the screenplay with John Whittington. In front of the screen, Newman had a bounty to work with in addition to the starry main trio, including Colm Meaney, Joan Chen, Kathy Baker, Beth Grant, and Sofia Black D’Elia. In an interview for Collider’s Exclusive Spring Preview series, however, she attested that the Norma Rae and Thunderbolts stars were some of her personal favorites for how they meshed together and managed to bring surprising humor to the very heartfelt story of loss, grief, and finding connection.

“Working with Sally and Lewis was a career highlight for me. They are both so present and open as actors and had this incredibly organic chemistry that made every scene come to life in the most unexpected ways. They are both deeply committed actors, willing to go to their most vulnerable places, but also to find joy and humor at any moment. I don’t think I have laughed as much every day as I did working on this film with the two of them!”

Remarkably Bright Creatures swims onto Netflix on May 8. Check out the new trailer in the player above.

Middle-earth Gets a Makeover in Trailer for New The Lord of the Rings Adaptation

Published

on

the-lord-of-the-rings_-the-fellowship-of-the-ring-poster.jpg

Over the decades, the works of J.R.R. Tolkien have long been revered and celebrated for their depth and overall quality of entertainment. It’s that love that ultimately drove Peter Jackson in the early 2000s to direct the critically acclaimed The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which cemented the franchise’s spot among the greats. Fast-forward another two decades, and the world of Middle-earth is back in focus on so many levels. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim was released in 2024, an animated feature that focused on Rohan and that nation’s greatest leader, Helm Hammerhand (Brian Cox). Peter Jackson is also working on two spin-off movies: the first, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, and an untitled project set after Return of the King, written by Stephen Colbert.

Two years prior, Prime Video transported us, on a pretty expensive budget, to the Second Age of Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which brought us ever closer to some of the most important parts of Tolkien lore prior to the main trilogy on-screen. After two seasons, Rings of Power is poised to return for Season 3 soon, with war looming on the horizon for Middle-earth. The projects just keep on coming for fans of the lore, with a new open-world Lord of the Rings RPG that is sure to intrigue gamers in the works.

Now, there is yet another project that offers a chance for fans of The Lord of the Rings to relive the original trilogy like never before. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is set to be relived courtesy of Ascension. Titled The Lord of the Rings: Ascension, it will consist of three new expansion sets for Ascension. Each set will adapt the main trilogy of The Lord of the Rings titles, with The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King all listed as part of the project. However, as of the time of writing, there is no firm release window available at this time.

How do you feel about the passing of time?
Our relationship with mortality shapes everything we value.

Danger is approaching. Your first instinct is to:
Fight, flight, or something in between — it’s more revealing than you’d think.

04

You stumble upon a great treasure. What do you feel?
What we desire — and what we do about it — is the true test.

05

How important is community and belonging to you?
No race of Middle-earth is truly alone — but some prefer it that way.

06

How ambitious are you, honestly?
Ambition is neither virtue nor vice — it depends entirely on what you want.

Where do you feel most at home in the natural world?
Middle-earth is vast — and every race has its place within it.

Middle-earth Has Spoken
You Belong To…

The race that claimed the most of your answers is your true kin. If two tied, both are shown — you walk between worlds.

◆ A TIE — YOU WALK BETWEEN TWO RACES ◆

🌿

Your Race

The Hobbits

You are, at your core, a creature of comfort, community, and quiet joy — and there is nothing small about that. Hobbits are proof that heroism does not require ambition, that the bravest heart can beat inside the most unassuming chest. You value good food, warm hearths, close friends, and a world that stays largely untroubled by dark lords and quests. When adventure does find you — and it will — you rise to it not because you sought it, but because the people you love needed you to. That is not ordinary. That is the rarest kind of courage in all of Middle-earth.

🌟

Your Race

The Elves

Ancient, graceful, and carrying a weight of memory most mortals cannot fathom, you are one of the Elves. You see the world in its fullness — its beauty, its impermanence, the unbearable ache of watching everything you love eventually fade. You pursue perfection not from pride, but because excellence is how you honour the time you have been given. Others may see you as remote or melancholy. They are not wrong, exactly. But they mistake depth for distance. You feel everything — which is precisely why you have learned to carry it so quietly.

⚒️

Your Race

The Dwarves

Stubborn, proud, fiercely loyal, and possessed of a work ethic that would exhaust most other races before breakfast — you are Dwarf-kind through and through. You do not ask for approval and you do not offer it cheaply. Your loyalty, once given, is given for life. Your grudges last longer. You love deeply and defend ferociously, and the things you build — with your hands, with your sweat, with generations of accumulated craft — are made to last. Not for glory. Because anything worth doing is worth doing properly, and you have never once done anything by half measures.

⚔️
Advertisement

Your Race

The Race of Men

Mortal, ambitious, flawed, and magnificent — you belong to the most complicated race in Middle-earth, and that complexity is your greatest strength. Men are capable of cowardice and extraordinary bravery, of cruelty and breathtaking sacrifice, sometimes within the same breath. You feel the urgency of your finite years, and it drives you. You want to matter. You want to leave something behind. You fall, and you rise, and the rising is what defines you. Tolkien called mortality the Gift of Men — not a curse, but a fire that burns bright precisely because it does not burn forever. That fire is you.

💀

Your Race

The Orcs

Brutal, survivalist, and contemptuous of anything that can’t defend itself — you answered with the instincts of an Orc, and there is a certain savage honesty in that. You do not dress up your desires in polite language or pretend you want things you don’t. You want power, survival, and to never be at the bottom of any hierarchy ever again. Orcs are not evil by nature — they were made from something that was once good, and broken into this shape by forces they did not choose. What remains is fierce, territorial, and deeply aware that the world is not kind. You’ve made your peace with that. The question is what you do with it.

What Is ‘The Lord of the Rings: Ascension’ About?

Ascension was first released in 2011 on iOS before making its way to Android devices in 2014. Ahead of the release of The Lord of the Rings: Ascension, an official game description from Stone Blade Entertainment, the studio behind the project reads: “The fate of the world hangs by a thread… Recruit heroes, acquire powerful cards, and shape your strategy as you build your strength, all while confronting the quiet, ever-present pull of The One Ring. The game is fast to learn and difficult to master; each choice carries weight, and the path to victory is never without cost.” Speaking about the project, Stone Blade Entertainment founder and Ascension creator, Justin Gary, sounded excited about the coming project, noting, “Middle-earth comes alive in your own hands as you’re able to build a deck with the heroes of The Fellowship.”

The Lord of the Rings: Ascension does not have a release date yet.

Pardi Addresses Reactions To His Posts Amid Megan & Klay’s Split

Rihanna Seemingly Addresses Baby Rumors, Talks "Little Pouch"

When old love gets dragged into new headlines, the internet never misses a beat! This time, it’s Pardi Fontaine and Megan Thee Stallion’s past creating some buzz. Pardi seemingly addressed his ex-girlfriend’s fans and speculation about his online activity amid her breakup with Klay Thompson.

RELATED: Hotties Stand Up! Fans Show Megan Thee Stallion Love On Social Media Amid Breakup With Klay Thompson (PHOTOS)

Pardi Addresses Comments About Timing Of His Social Media Posts

According to a video shared to Instagram on Tuesday, Pardison appeared to address the sudden floods in his comments section. Without naming anyone directly, he compared the situation to a show storyline.

Pardi said his “character hasn’t been on this show in three seasons” and that he’s been “replaced multiple times.”

In the same rant, he added that for years he feels like he’s been “involuntarily kept in this email thread of this d*mn show.” Given the timing, it appears he’s reacting to ongoing public conversations about Megan’s love life. He also expressed confusion over still being pulled into the narrative, noting that he can’t even scroll online without seeing mentions of “the new character.” Still, he made it clear he’s not celebrating anyone’s heartbreak or misfortune, saying he takes “no pleasure” in any of it—despite the chaos his comments have stirred up online.

Comment Section Goes Into Full Detective Mode

Folks wasted no time running straight to Pardison Fontaine’s IG comment section after his video surfaced. And, the opinions were flying just as fast as the speculation. Some users crowned him their “favorite character in the show,” referencing the ongoing narrative around Meg’s love life. While others suggested his remarks might be hinting at unresolved feelings or even a desire to reconcile.

One Instagram user @spankhorton said, “Sound like they want u to return for season 4 lmaooooo

This Instagram user @thatgirlchelle.xo claimed, “Lmaooo! This is such a Capricorn response 🤣 I love it!

And, Instagram user @okayllean wrote, “i been here since the Pilot. jus sayin beforeeeee the celebrity guest appearance . before new cast . i’m on the spinoff with u now

Meanwhile, Instagram user @miamayhem commented, “Just say you miss her & want that old thing back

While Instagram user @alicenwond3rlan shared, “I love how you’re talking in code yet I understand everything you’re saying

Finally, Instagram user @styledbysharifa revealed, “You still my favorite 😍😍”

Pardi Sparks Side-Eye With Cryptic Song Choice

This isn’t the first time Pardison Fontaine has posted amid Megan Thee Stallion’s viral breakup. Amid the reactions, fans quickly clocked a recent social media video where Pardi was seen singing along to Jagged Edge’s ‘He Can’t Love U.’ And the timing had the internet doing what it does best—trying to connect every possible dot.

The lyrics Pardi highlighted, including “He can’t love you like I love you / Baby you know it too,” immediately sparked speculation that the moment may have been a subtle nod to Megan’s reported split and her current buzz with NBA star Klay Thompson. However, Pardi has not confirmed whether the post targets anyone in particular or is simply a coincidence in his playlist rotation.

Hazel E Sparks Buzz After Popping Out With Nevaeh’s Child’s Dad

The Internet Has Questions After Hazel E Seemingly Pops Out With Nevaeh's Son's Father

Whew, Roomies! The internet is cuttin’ UP with reactions after a video floating around online seemingly shows Hazel E kicking it with man the internet is saying has a son with Nevaeh Akira. Right now, there’s no word on why they popped out together or how they connected, but folks online are already dropping their own theories.

RELATED: Oop! Hazel E Fires Back After Blueface Ends Relationship By Questioning Her Maturity At 45 (VIDEO)

Hazel E Raises Eyebrows After Stepping Out With Man Allegedly Linked To Nevaeh Akira

Recently, video footage showed Hazel E and a man rumored to be the father of Nevaeh Akira’s son together. The clip, shared by IndustryBeef, shows the pair walking down the street while Hazel cheeses and spills tea on who she’s chilling with. After she claims that the man is actually Nevaeh’s son’s father, they both start laughing. As the clip keeps rolling, more footage shows them turning up at a function with a group of people. Right now, it’s unclear whether they’re dating or just linked up for a collab, but folks online think Hazel might be trying to get her lick back since Blueface seemingly rekindled with Nevaeh shortly after their split.  Nevaeh has not publicly addressed Hazel E or her claims that she shares a son with the man pictured.

Social Media Sounds OFF With Reactions

Fans wasted no time reacting to the clip of Hazel E in IndustryBeef’s comment section. Plenty of folks said they never expected to see her linking up with Nevaeh’s son’s father, while others said she’s too grown to be playing petty games.

Instagram user @jadastokeees wrote, Oh my goodness I ain’t see this coming.”

Instagram user @domoreignz_ wrote, They so petty 🤣”

While Instagram user @jenellequinn wrote, Didn’t Nevaeh say that he has a girlfriend and that they all coparent well?? Doesn’t look like he has a gf 😂😂😂😂”

Then another Instagram user @phenomenal_amv wrote, She’s almost 50 mind you.”

Finally, Instagram user @pr3ttyynaiinii_ wrote, To damn old for that.”

Is Hazel Trying To Get Her Lick Back At Blueface & Nevaeh?

Fans seem to be going in on Hazel E, thinking she tried to get her lick back at Nevaeh by popping out with her child’s father. The speculation comes as Nevaeh and Blueface’s romance unfolded shortly after he revealed he was done with Hazel in November 2025. Blue recorded a video saying Hazel was too immature for him, so he decided to let her go from his roster. “Hazel E, you are too old to be acting this young. We’re done. I rather be with a young b***h.” Hazel clapped back calling him a “convicted felon” and said he was actually doing her a favor because he had too much going on after being released from prison.

Shortly after their back-and-forth online, Nevaeh dropped videos showing her spending quality time with Blueface. One clip shows her cracking jokes about being his “sideline” while she kisses him the car. Then another video showed them eating at Blue’s seafood restaurant. On top of that, Nevaeh also took some shots at Hazel for throwing shade at her following her breakup with Blue. She also seemingly accused Hazel of being a hater, saying she was just mad because things with Blue didn’t go the way she wanted. Peep Nevaeh’s previous response to Hazel below.

A decade before Iron Man launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wesley Snipes made superheroes cool again as Blade, the Daywalker. 1998’s Blade includes the coolest opening sequence of any vampire movie and it launched a trilogy, so it makes sense that Marvel would milk it for all its worth.

2006’s Blade: The Series tried to keep the good times rolling, and if you forgot it existed, that’s by design, as Disney probably doesn’t want a series with this much blood, guts, and nudity to be associated with modern Marvel. Well, that, and Snipes didn’t return as Blade, marking the only time anyone else has played the live-action Vampire hunter.

Blade: The Series Picks Up Where Trinity Left Off

Replacing one of the coolest dudes on the planet is a tough job. Whoever stepped into the sunglasses of Blade would be constantly compared to Wesley Snipes. The rapper Sticky Fingaz answered the call, and while he looked the part of a muscular superhero, he couldn’t emulate the attitude. Blade: The Series picks up after the events of Blade: Trinity, and was written by the same man, David S. Goyer, though outside of the title character, there’s no real connections that mattered.

Blade: The Series introduces Christa Starr (Jill Wagner of Wipeout), a U.S. Army soldier coming home from the Iraq War to solve the mystery of who killed her brother, Zach (David Kopp). It doesn’t take long for the series to reveal that Marcus (Neil Jackson), an upstart Vampire noble, was behind the murder and that Zach was secretly an ally of Blade’s, working to take down the Vampires of the House of Cthon. She’s also, judging by the reactions of every man who enters her vicinity, the most beautiful woman they have ever seen.

Christa is the real main character of Blade: The Series, which eventually cuts the title character down to appearing in maybe 10 minutes an episode by the end of the first, and only, season. For most shows that would be a bad thing, but Wagner’s performance as Christa and her on-screen chemistry with Neil Jackson, the man behind Marcus, is so good, the show becomes better as it shifts the focus.

Disney Wants Nothing To Do With Blade: The Series

Blade: The Series

What makes Blade: The Series stand out even today isn’t the fairly generic plotlines, like a vampire-killing virus, people from Blade’s past wanting revenge, or a vaguely Eurotrash vampire jockeying for position as the new ruler of the Undead, it’s what the series was able to get away with showing on screen. Blade aired on Spike TV, a cable channel but not a premium cable channel, and yet it was able to get away with showing copious amounts of blood and nudity.

During its run, Blade: The Series was a hit, posting excellent numbers for the newly rebranded cable channel. Millions tuned in each week and you couldn’t get away from the commercials while trying to watch CSI marathons or 1000 Ways To Die. The show was canceled not because it wasn’t being watched, but because it was expensive, with a price tag close to a million dollars (or more) per episode.

Before the cancelation, Blade: The Series had namedropped other Marvel characters affiliated with the 90s group, the Midnight Sons: Moon Knight and Dr. Strange. One can only imagine that any version of those characters appearing on Spike TV would be as dark and gritty as their 90s comics counterparts. Remember when Dr. Strange wore a mask, used elemental magic, and was known simply as Strange?

Today, Blade: The Series is hard to find anywhere. Apple TV+ has the series available to purchase, but it’s not on Hulu, Disney+, or anywhere else you might find Marvel shows. It’s the last relic of how Marvel would license its characters out before the start of the MCU, and proof that no matter what Blade says in Deadpool & Wolverine, there were two Blades, and odds are, there will only ever be two Blades.
