The fantasy genre is too often overlooked, and it’s time that changed. Some of the best movies ever made have involved swords, magic, and wild creatures crossing lands beyond imagination.
Fantasy is a big tent, so for this list we’re going to focus on the sword and sorcery of it all. That means no vampires, no magical nannies, and no steampunk zeppelins. To qualify for this ranking, a movie must have two things: magic and swords.
These are the twenty-four best sword & sorcery fantasy movies of all time.
24. Krull
Krull was the butt of everyone’s jokes for years, but it’s filled with wild creativity and charm. Enough to deserve a place on this list. Besides, it has the glaive, one of the coolest weapons ever created for any movie.
Prince Colwyn races to rescue his bride from an alien fortress that literally moves across the landscape, backed by a band of outlaws and guided by a blind seer played by Freddie Jones. Along the way, you get cyclops, fire mares, shape-shifting enemies, and the iconic glaive. Everybody loves the glaive!
It’s messy, ambitious, and completely sincere. A movie where the sheer volume of ideas being thrown at the screen becomes the point.
23. Ladyhawke
Ladyhawke is a medieval fantasy that skips the usual bombast and instead builds something more romantic and enduring. Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer play cursed lovers. He’s a wolf by night, she’s a hawk by day, and they’re kept tragically out of sync by a vengeful bishop. They’re aided by Matthew Broderick as a quick-talking thief pulled into their orbit.
The movie looks dark and gritty, but it’s actually fun and optimistic in its own way. Ladyhawke never quite got the reception it deserved when it was released in 1985. Reviews were mixed, and box office results were solid but not spectacular. Over time, it gained legitimate cult status, and it’s now celebrated as one of the best things about the 80s.
22. Legend
Dreamlike and unapologetically mythic, 1985’s Legend is Ridley Scott at his most visually indulgent, building a fairy-tale world that feels less like a setting and more like a living painting. Tom Cruise plays the forest-dwelling hero Jack, pulled into a battle to save light itself after darkness, embodied by the greatness of Tim Curry in a towering, iconic performance as the Lord of Darkness.
Future Ferris Bueller star Mia Sara adds a fragile, otherworldly presence as the princess whose choices set everything in motion, but the real power of the film lies in its atmosphere, shaped by practical sets, elaborate creature design, and a sense of fantasy that feels ancient.
21. Conan the Destroyer
A sequel that goes broader and more openly mythic, Conan the Destroyer (1984) trades some of the raw edge of its predecessor (a movie that might show up higher on this list) for a colorful, quest-driven adventure. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as Conan, this time leading a ragtag party, including a thief, a wizard, and a reluctant princess, on a mission that quickly spirals into gods, monsters, and double-crosses.
Grace Jones brings a striking, physical presence as the warrior Zula, while Wilt Chamberlain adds sheer size to the lineup. It works as a fast-moving fantasy ride, packed with practical creatures, oversized sets, and the kind of unapologetic sword-and-sorcery energy that defined the genre’s peak era.
20. Clash of the Titans
Long before CGI flattened everything into the same glossy blur, Clash of the Titans (1981) arrived as a handcrafted spectacle, directed by Desmond Davis and powered by the unmistakable work of effects legend Ray Harryhausen.
The story tracks Perseus, played by Harry Hamlin, as he’s pushed through a gauntlet of gods and monsters (Medusa, the Kraken, and everything in between), while Laurence Olivier looms over it all as Zeus and Maggie Smith sharpens the edges as Thetis.
Every creature feels built, every moment staged like myth carved into stone. It’s simple hero’s-journey storytelling, but delivered with enough visual imagination and analog charm that it still feels bigger than most modern attempts to do the same.
19. The Forbidden Kingdom
2008’s The Forbidden Kingdom is a glossy East-meets-West martial arts fantasy directed by Rob Minkoff that exists mostly as an excuse to finally put Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the same movie. The story follows an American teenager who gets magically transported to ancient China, where he teams up with Chan’s drunken warrior and Li’s stoic monk to return a mystical staff and free the Monkey King.
Along the way, the film leans hard into fun martial-arts movie tropes like wire-fu fights, mythic villains, and a lot of destiny talk. It does that while staying accessible to Western audiences with a familiar fish-out-of-water structure. Instead of getting bogged down, the film leans into what works: fluid, inventive fight choreography, colorful world-building, and a sense of adventure that keeps things moving.
18. Dragonheart
Dragonheart is a 1996 medieval fantasy built around Dennis Quaid as Bowen, a knight turned dragon-slayer who’s given up on ideals after a dragon saves a future tyrant. That dragon, Draco, is voiced perfectly by Sean Connery, playing him as witty, tired, and more human than anyone else on screen. They team up to run a scam, faking fake dragon hunts for money. That works until the king, played by David Thewlis, proves too brutal to ignore.
Draco was one of the first fully CG lead characters that actually felt present in scenes, built by Industrial Light & Magic using then-cutting-edge CGI and motion reference from Sean Connery’s performance. At the time, it was a major leap in making a digital creature carry real emotion and screen time, and for audiences, the first time they’d seen a dragon on screen that actually felt alive.
17. The Chronicles of Narnia
Four kids walk through a wardrobe and accidentally trigger a regime change in the 2005 Andrew Adamson adaptation of author C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
The Pevensie siblings land in a frozen fantasy world stuck under the White Witch’s control, where winter never ends, and dissent gets turned to stone. Suddenly, these outsiders are central to a war they barely understand, and there’s a lion, who seems to act a lot like Jesus.
It’s a heavily structured, deliberate fantasy that did justice to the books, even if it doesn’t hold up quite as well now as it did back in the early 2000s.
16. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Based on the popular role-playing game it gets its name from, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves picks up after the adventuring party of Edvin the Bard, Holga the Barbarian, Simon the Sorcerer, Doric the Druid, and Forge the Thief were betrayed by the obviously evil wizard Sofina.
Out for revenge, Evin and Holga get the band back together, go into an actual dungeon complete with a dragon, and pull off a fantastical heist. It failed at the box office thanks to a fan boycott centered on the company that owns the IP and had nothing to do with the movie itself.
That’s a shame because Honor Among Thieves is great sword-and-sorcery fantasy. Whether you play the tabletop game or not, the comedy beats all and makes it a fun fantasy adventure everyone must see.
15. Jason and the Argonauts
Despite its 1963 release, Jason and the Argonauts is a visual feast thanks to the brilliant, groundbreaking stop-motion effects of Ray Harryhausen. The film follows Jason as he assembles a crew of heroes and sails into dangerous territory to claim the Golden Fleece, encountering a series of episodic threats along the way. He faces down harpies, a living bronze giant, crashing cliffs, and the famous skeleton army.
The plot is a delivery system for Harryhausen’s amazing set pieces, each designed to top the last, with gods quietly manipulating events in the background.
14. Willow
Released in 1988, Willow is a fantasy adventure built by director Ron Howard and producer George Lucas as a more traditional fairy-tale quest than the darker ’80s fantasy around it. The story follows Willow, a reluctant farmer and aspiring sorcerer, who gets pulled into protecting a prophesied baby destined to overthrow an evil queen.
He ends up paired with a rogue swordsman, Madmartigan (played by Val Kilmer), and the movie runs them through a familiar structure: travel, ambushes, magic encounters, and escalating confrontations with the queen’s forces. It leans on practical effects, creature work, and straightforward stakes, with Willow’s arc built around stepping up rather than discovering something hidden. It’s an accessible hero’s journey, but one with enough of a darker edge to keep it from feeling like pure kids’ fantasy.
13. Harry Potter
There are too many Harry Potter movies to put them all in one spot, and also I don’t want this list to be nothing but Harry Potter. Plus, it’s borderline whether Harry Potter really qualifies for a Sword & Sorcery fantasy list. But it’s such a juggernaut that I felt it deserved at least a mention.
So for this entry, I’m focusing on my favorite Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It may be the best-written of all the films, and it developed the visual palette used in the subsequent films, despite being the third entry in the series.
The movie shifts the tone darker and more controlled, following Harry as he returns to Hogwarts under the threat of escaped prisoner Sirius Black, who’s believed to be coming for him. What starts as a manhunt turns into a reveal-heavy mystery, flipping assumptions about who’s actually dangerous and why.
It doesn’t really matter which Potter movie is your favorite; if you’re talking fantasy movies of any kind, even the more sword-focused ones, it deserves a place.
12. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Turning a Disney amusement park ride into a movie shouldn’t have worked, but in 2003 director Gore Verbinski pulled it off with a once-in-a-lifetime performance from Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and a willingness to embrace the inherent darkness of a proper pirate tale.
The story follows blacksmith Will Turner, played by Orlando Bloom (the only actor to be in two entries on this list), teaming up with the unpredictable pirate Jack Sparrow to rescue Elizabeth Swann from Captain Barbossa and his crew. The twist is that Barbossa and his men aren’t just pirates; they’re cursed undead who can’t feel anything and can’t die.
11. Excalibur
For many, 1981’s Excalibur is the ultimate movie version of the King Arthur legend. Director John Boorman leans all the way into the idea that this story is less history and more a fever dream. It tracks the rise and fall of King Arthur, from pulling the sword from the stone to building Camelot, and then watching it rot from within amid betrayal, lust, and power struggles.
The genius of Excalibur lies in the way it creates mood, prioritizing it over realism. The full Arthur cycle is compressed into one operatic, stylized film about how idealism creates its own downfall.
10. The NeverEnding Story
The NeverEnding Story begins in the real world, with Bastian, a lonely kid, being bullied and looking for an escape. Director Wolfgang Petersen’s 1984 movie only becomes a fantasy film as Bastian reads.
He becomes tied to the fate of a collapsing fantasy world called Fantasia, inside which a young warrior named Atreyu is sent on a quest to stop a spreading force known as the Nothing, which is literally erasing existence. The story keeps folding back on the reader, blurring the line between fiction and reality, until Bastian himself becomes part of the narrative.
It’s part adventure, part a story about imagination, and it leans hard on practical effects and big emotional swings to sell the idea that stories only survive if someone believes in them. After it’s over, you’ll be ready to say: I believe.
9. Stardust
While it’s based on the work of Neil Gaiman, director Matthew Vaughn’s 2007 adaptation of Stardust avoids the infamous writer’s more macabre instincts to create a fantasy tale of wonder and nobler adventure.
The story starts in a quiet English village where a wall separates the real world from a magical one. A young man, Tristan Thorn, promises to retrieve a fallen star to win a woman who barely cares about him. When he crosses the wall, he finds the star isn’t an object but a woman, Yvaine (played by Claire Danes), and suddenly everyone wants her.
Witches need her heart to stay young. Princes hunt her to claim a throne. Tristan just wants to drag her home as proof he can deliver. What starts as a transaction turns into a chase across a world that keeps escalating in danger and scale.
8. The Hobbit Trilogy
The Hobbit trilogy was a project Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson didn’t want to make. When he learned Hollywood was making it with him or without him, he jumped in to save the legacy he’d built with The Lord of the Rings and gave it everything he had left in the tank.
It faced criticism because it’s not as good as The Lord of the Rings. But then nothing is as good as Lord of the Rings (more on that in a minute), and everything seems lacking in comparison.
It’s still a deeply beautiful, complex, and interesting sword-fighting fantasy tale. The dwarves sing a mournful song in Bilbo’s Hobbit hole, and it carries them on a journey across Middle-earth to face a dragon and an army. It’s not as good as it should have been, but The Hobbit is better than it has any right to be, and it’s better than most things that don’t take place in Middle-earth.
7. Highlander
Highlander is a 1986 fantasy in which immortals roam history, locked into ritual combat where the only way to win is beheading. In modern New York and across centuries of flashbacks, Connor MacLeod slowly learns the rules of a secret war that’s been going on forever, all building toward “there can be only one.”
The movie is famous for its style, Queen on the soundtrack, MTV editing, and an iconic villain performance from Clancy Brown. Despite its R rating and frequent head decapitating, Highlander feels more dangerous than it actually is. That’s part of its charm and also why it has endured.
6. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of the funniest movies of all time, and it’s barely a movie at all. It’s the pinnacle of the iconic comedy troupe Monty Python’s style, and there’s never been anything like it before or since.
It begins when King Arthur is sent by God to find the Holy Grail in medieval England. It ends with King Arthur being arrested by modern-day British police, even though no time travel is involved. That arrest sequence, by the way, actually happened; the police showed up on the scene and arrested them for filming without a permit. So they threw it in the movie and used it as their ending.
Holy Grail is a fantasy movie built on refusing to behave like a normal story, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Ni!
5. Hook
Hook begins with the story of Peter Banning, a man who is everything Peter Pan was never supposed to become: a corporate lawyer, glued to his phone, too busy to notice his own kids slipping away. When his kids are snatched out of their beds and dragged to Neverland by Captain Hook, Peter Banning follows, but the problem is that he’s forgotten he was ever Peter Pan.
The Lost Boys don’t buy him; their current leader, Rufio, flat-out rejects him, and Hook toys with him like a washed-up relic. What should have been a rescue mission turns into a midlife crisis with swords, as a man grapples with what really matters to him in the world. To save his kids, Peter has to relearn imagination, rediscover joy, and essentially undo adulthood long enough to become the thing he abandoned.
Taking place on massive, lovingly crafted sets filmed with all the magic peak Steven Spielberg can muster, it’s a perfect story for every adult facing down the stress of middle age, while also a family story filled with all the magic and wonder kids need to fire up their own imaginations.
4. The Wizard of Oz
L. Frank Baum’s iconic Oz books were once revered in the same way the books of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis are. Over the years, that’s somehow been overshadowed by the 1939 film adaptation of his work, even though Baum’s books are better than the movie.
Yet the movie itself is one of the best fantasy stories ever told, using what by modern-day standards would be viewed as only very rudimentary techniques. Despite the unkind rigors of aging, it’s still fun to watch.
Released near the end of the Great Depression, the film takes a black-and-white Kansas defined by exhaustion and hardship and explodes it into the impossible color of Oz, creating one of the most famous transitions in movie history. The story follows Dorothy, a lonely farm girl swept into a fantasy world where every strange encounter reflects fears and desires pulled from her real life back home. It defined what big-screen fantasy could feel like.
3. The Princess Bride
The Princess Bride begins with a grandfather reading a story to his sick grandson, then unfolds into a fantasy adventure filled with sword fights, revenge plots, kidnappings, monsters, and true love. What makes the film totally unique is the way it’s delivered, with a heavy layer of dry self-awareness that never turns cynical.
Westley’s quest to reunite with Buttercup is intentionally simple, allowing the movie to focus on its characters rather than complicated lore. Every supporting player feels iconic because the film gives them instantly memorable personalities and dialogue, from Inigo Montoya’s obsession with vengeance to Vizzini’s constant claims of “inconceivable.”
Instead of trying to make fantasy feel realistic, The Princess Bride embraces the artificiality of storybook adventure and turns that sincerity into meaning.
2. Conan the Barbarian
1982’s Conan the Barbarian tells the origin of a warrior forged by loss, slavery, and violence, moving through a brutal fantasy world ruled by cults, warlords, and gods that don’t care. Director John Milius presents Conan’s story as destiny rather than spectacle.
The plot is classic pulp: revenge, survival, and power taken through strength. It believes, fully, in all the values it espouses. As such, despite its brutality, no film on this list feels more pure, innocent, and untouched.
The movie follows Conan, past a child enslaved after his parents are murdered by a snake cult led by Thulsa Doom. He grows into a massive warrior shaped entirely by pain, survival, and violence.
Arnold Schwarzenegger barely speaks for long stretches because the movie understands his presence is the point. Conan is s a human weapon trying to carve meaning out of revenge. The result is a fantasy movie that feels heavy, dangerous, and strangely mythic in a way most modern fantasy never does.
1. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
There’s an argument to be made that The Lord of the Rings may be Hollywood’s peak. That everything the filmmaking art form had been building towards led to this one moment in cinema, and that since The Return of the King, everything in the world of moving pictures has been on a slow, steady downward slide.
Whether you believe that or not, the notion that this is a serious discussion large numbers of people in the world are having is a solid indicator of just how good The Lord of the Rings trilogy is. More than just the best fantasy movies of all time, director Peter Jackson’s three movies are among the greatest things ever put to film, extended editions and all.
It’s the greatest ever application of special effects techniques, appearing at the exact moment when CGI had progressed to the point to give us a character like Gollum, while at the same time practical effects and hard work were still frequently used enough to create the incredible, hand-built artistry of Tolkien’s Middle-earth as an actual place the film’s actors could walk around in.
The story is based on one of the greatest ever works of fiction, and the story which basically invented the entire modern fantasy genre. Without Tolkien’s work, most of the other fantasy movies on this list wouldn’t even have existed. Jackson kept the heart of Tolkien’s story, while adapting it for screen in a feat most thought impossible before he pulled it off.
The cast is one of the greatest ensembles ever assembled, and they, along with everyone working on the film, were as much fans of Tolkien’s world as the rest of us. The entire production was locked away for years in an isolated location, doing nothing but living and breathing Tolkien. Nothing like this, nothing on this scale, or with this much passion, has ever been made before, and it almost certainly never will be again.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. If you’ve any sense, you’ll spend a lot of it watching and rewatching all three movies in The Lord of the Rings. Extended Editions, of course.

Former Nickelodeon star Jennifer Hyatt Tedmori was seen crashing out on Instagram after receiving a stack of residual checks from the children’s television network worth shocking amounts. In her series, Tedmori, who appeared in “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide,” blasted her former employer for paying more to send her payments than what the checks themselves were even worth.
Tedmori, who played Doris Trembley in the Nickelodeon series, recently posted a video to her Instagram showing a stack of residual checks from her time on the early 2000s sitcom.
“It’s that time of the year for me: I got my Ned’s residual checks,” she said in the clip as she sliced open the slew of envelopes. “Some of these could be a penny, some of these could be $5.”
As she opened the first check and recalled filming the episode, she added text on the screen that read, “Crashout incoming,” as she showed her followers that the check was worth $0.02.
“All of two cents. See all of this paper I’m just littering in my car for two f–king cents,” she said. “I know, hard times [and the] economy is s–t, but like two cents? Keep it. Just f–king keep it. I don’t want it.”

Throughout the video, Tedmori opened more of her residual checks, which featured similar amounts to the one above. She did, however, open a check that was from her time on “90210,” revealing she made around $22.
“Don’t come for me about throwing away a nickel. Y’all had f–king let a nickel get lost in your couch,” Tedmori joked in the video. “Don’t come for me.”
The actress continued, joking that while she understands it’s been over 20 years since she filmed the show, she argued that it costs more to send and mail the checks than she’s actually receiving.
“Now, I get it, it’s been a long time. I’m surprised that I’m getting anything. But three cents? It cost you 75 cents to send this envelope, and the way it’s adding up, the math ain’t f–king mathing,” she said.
Tedmori Isn’t The Only Child Star Receiving Laughable Residual Checks
Tedmori isn’t the only child star receiving measly residual checks. “Full House” star Jodie Sweetin previously revealed that she, too, got a check in the mail for “one cent.”
According to Sweetin, who made the revelation on the “McBride Rewind” show, said that actors aren’t receiving residual money like they used to because the shows have moved to streaming.
“No, there’s no syndication anymore because it’s all in streaming. Who gets paid for that? Nobody gets paid for that,” she said.
Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner on the ’90s family series, said that in the past, she would get decent money, but it wasn’t reliable. “You don’t know how much it’s going to be or how often they’re going to run the show,” she said.
“So, sometimes you’re like, ‘Oh, cool. That was nice.’ And then sometimes you’re like, ‘All right, well, there’s a nice dinner out,’” she added.

Speaking of Nickelodeon stars, Giovonnie Samuels, known for her role in “All That” with Amanda Bynes and Drake Bell, said in a TikTok video that she “never got paid for any residuals” after acting in the sketch comedy show.
“I need y’all to understand that not all child stars are rich,” Samuels, who went on to appear in “Bring It On: All or Nothing” alongside Hayden Panettiere and Solange Knowles, said. “Not all of us are balling. The leads of the cast, they get the big money checks. The supporting cast, like myself, we don’t get that.”
This Late Actor Said His Residuals Were ‘Not Bad’
Matthew Perry, one of the stars of the NBC series “Friends,” previously told Andy Cohen that the residual checks he and his co-stars received were worthwhile.
When the “Watch What Happens Live” host asked him if the residuals were “bountiful,” Perry said they’re “not bad.”
“And they come in form of a text: ‘You just made this.’ And I go, ‘Oh, great,’” he said.

Days after Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham doubled down on her stance against transgender athletes competing in women’s sports, her podcast costar has taken a different point of view.
“Transgender athletes in American sports is such a borderline non-existent issue,” Summer House alum West Wilson said in a video via TikTok on Saturday, July 25.
Wilson, 31, and Cunningham, 29, are high school friends and host the “Show Me Something” podcast together.
“Right-wingers have convinced a massive portion of people in our country that these people are, like, a threat to sports in America, when mathematically it’s not the case at all,” Wilson said. “And by continuing to platform this — politicians, athletes, journalists, news outlets — you’re only isolating transgender people even more by making them seem like this giant group of people is a threat to society, a threat to sports, when that’s just not proportionately the truth in any capacity.”

He continued, “There’s like 10 transgender athletes in all the NCAA. I think there are unique questions that can be handled on [an] individual basis, but to allow this to take attention away from housing, healthcare, and wars and all the other actual harmful s*** in our country is dumb.”
There are more than 500,000 NCAA student-athletes, spanning the organization’s three divisions. There are, in fact, fewer than 10 transgender people in that group, NCAA president Charlie Baker said during a 2024 congressional hearing.
Cunningham previously weighed in on the issue in a story for ESPN published July 21.
“I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that,’” she said in the story. “I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think, with that, love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”

Asked about it the next day at a Fever practice, Cunningham said, “I think it’s kind of common sense. I think I’ll always believe in that. I think it’s really important to protect children.”
In addition to the low number of transgender athletes in sports, there’s also no conclusive evidence that transgender women have a tangible advantage over their cisgender counterparts. A study funded in part by the IOC and published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine in 2024 even found several disadvantages for trans women, including poorer lower-body strength and lung function.
“I think there is room for absolutely everyone here and I think there’s room to love everyone,” Cunningham said. “I truly think when you get people in the same room and have conversations, you have a lot in common with a lot of people. I’m there to love, but I’m also there to love biological women and I think there are rights that need to be protected.”

This show was Bon Jovi’s final performance during his MSG residency. The concert also came three days after Bon Jovi had to abruptly end his Thursday, July 23, show after 90 minutes. After performing his hit “Livin’ on a Prayer,” Bon Jovi shared with the audience he was unable to continue.

Young and the Restless 2-Week Spoilers for July 27 – August 7, 2026 are going to see Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) getting a big win that he absolutely does not deserve, but he gets it anyway. And also, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) is desperate to keep a really big lie going.
Also, in the two weeks of July 27th through August 7th, we’ve got Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) coming back, Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) spiraling, and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) having a huge setback in his recovery from addiction. We got all that and tons more. Let’s get into it.
Young and the Restless: Nikki’s Blindness and Adam’s Secret Deal
On Monday, July 27th, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is frustrated. She gives up on the idea of putting on makeup and heads downstairs to tell Victor that she had a bad night. Nikki admits she broke her mirror because she’s so upset. And Victor is sure that Nikki’s sight will return, but she really doesn’t want to get her hopes up. And then she snaps when Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) asks how she is. Nikki’s tired of everybody asking her that same question. And when she tries to storm off, she stumbles and nearly falls, but Victor catches her. Nikki burst into tears, saying she hates this.
We’ve also got Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) facing scrutiny from Victor when he doesn’t buy their story about how they got Newman Media back from Sally. And Victoria is there also skeptical of why Sally would just hand over the company for nothing. Adam claims they intimidated Sally and Chelsea backs up Adam’s story. When Victor and Victoria keep sniping at them, Adam finally loses it and says he’s been nothing but loyal.
And Chelsea insists that Victor should be thanking Adam instead of grilling him. But Victor is suspicious because Adam is so defensive and he rants that nothing is a win unless Victor makes it happen. And then Adam and Chelsea storm out and Victoria tells Victor that she agrees with him something’s going on and she’s going to find out what Adam and Chelsea are hiding. So she heads over to Billy’s place.
Y&R Spoilers: Sally Worries about Billy’s Reaction
Elsewhere, Sally and Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) are celebrating their deal with Adam. But Audra worries how Billy is going to react. She thinks Sally needs to tell Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) before he hears it elsewhere. Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) calls Billy about signing his Chancellor contract. He says he’ll send it to Cane soon. Meanwhile, Billy dodges a call from Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).
And then he takes a call from Sally, who tells Billy she made a really big deal and is going to tell him about it in person when she is home soon. Sally tells Audra she’s afraid Billy is going to be angry that she gave the gift that he gave her back to Adam, his greatest enemy.
And before Sally can get there, Victoria shows up to their place and she tells Billy that Sally just gave Newman Media back to Adam and Victoria asks how Billy feels about that. Did it shock him? And he’s quick on his feet. And Billy pretends to Victoria that he already knew about it. But Billy also says he doesn’t work at Spectra-Charles and doesn’t question Sally’s business decisions.
Victoria wants the details of Sally’s deal with Adam. But then Sally walks through the door and Billy says he and Victoria were just discussing Sally’s deal that she cut with Adam. And Sally tells Victoria she and Audra gave Newman Media back because they didn’t want to be at war with Victor. And then Sally lies to Victoria, says she didn’t get any payment for it.
Young and Restless: Romance and Dangerous Setbacks
Victoria leaves and Billy immediately lashes out that he had to hear it from Victoria. And Billy assumes that Adam and Chelsea forced Sally to give the company back. And Billy promises to get it back for her, but Sally says, “No, don’t do that.” Meanwhile, Chelsea and Adam discuss keeping their deal a secret from Victor because it’ll cause problems if he finds out. Adam is really hoping that Sally and Audra keep their promise to stay quiet, keep the lie going.
Chelsea is certain they’ve got Victor and Victoria fooled, but Adam is a little smarter. He’s not so sure. He doesn’t like that Newman Media is still under the Newman umbrella and instead Adam tells Chelsea he’s over all the drama. Adam just wants to work with Chelsea apart from the Newman family stuff and he just wants to spend time with her and Connor.
Young and the Restless Spoilers: Billy Furious & Lily & Cane Heat Up
Then, on Tuesday, July 28th, Nikki feels the walls closing in on her as she continues to struggle and adjust to being blind, at least in the short run. And on Wednesday, July 29th, we’ve got Billy showing up to interrogate Adam. Even though Sally told Billy to leave it alone, of course, he won’t. I’m sure he doesn’t believe Sally that Adam didn’t do her dirty.
And I bet Billy thinks Chelsea and Adam bullied pregnant Sally, and that’s going to have Billy on fire and ready to rumble with Adam. Nikki’s condition takes a surprising turn. It would be incredible if she gets her vision back already, but maybe she’ll start to see light and shadow, which would be a good sign that things are coming back.
Sparks are flying for Cane and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). She invites Cane over to her penthouse pad. He’s smiling and reminding Lily that she made him CEO of Chancellor and now invited him over to her house. So, Cane thinks she’s starting to like him. And I can absolutely see Lily and Cane getting intimate very soon.
Y&R Spoilers: Matt’s a Free Man
Thursday, July 30th, Matt Clark (Roger Howorth) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) make a toast to their future. Also, she’s able to get Matt’s ankle monitor off of him, and Phyllis says, “We did it. Got it off. You’re free as a bird.” So, we’ll see if Matt winds up in Phyllis’s bed after this happens as part of their big celebration. Even with a monitor off, I doubt that Matt is going anywhere.
And Lily sets clear boundaries with Cane. If they do end up in bed together, Lily might make it perfectly clear that having Cane over to her place doesn’t mean they’re officially reunited. I’m sure he’ll take whatever Lily offers him, though, even if it’s scraps.
Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) gets Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) to open up to him. Daniel tells Abby she looks like she could use a friend and asks if she’ll settle for him. And I’m sure this is about Devon’s anger issues, which is actually something Daniel will have a perspective on because he’s had some of those in the past himself.
Young and Restless: Mariah’s Return and Nick’s Relapse
Then on Friday, July 31st, we have got Victor and Nikki, all smiles, and we have Victor and Nikki committing to starting fresh as a married couple. So, it looks like she’s basically back to enabling Victor despite all the horrible things he’s done to her bestie, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).
Matt tries to make up for what he did to Sienna. I’m interested to see how that’s even possible, especially since Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) doesn’t want him near Sienna. And Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) tells Noah that his dad Nick had a setback.
Could be that he caved and called his old dealer and got some pills. Mariah is back in Genoa City at the end of this week and Sharon’s going to be thrilled to see her daughter, but I am certain that Devon is going to be amped up since Mariah is responsible for his anger issues.

Then the week of August 3rd through the 7th, we have got good news for Nikki because Jack’s not going to hold it against Nikki that she reunited with Victor because Jack already was encouraging Nikki to get back with Victor, especially given her new health concerns.
And with Mariah back, I expect Abby is going to appeal to Mariah, tell her what Devon’s been going through, because she’s honestly somebody who could really help him work through these issues. And I’m sure Mariah is going to feel responsible for what Devon’s going through. I’m also wondering if we’ll see Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Aria back in Genoa City as well.
Y&R Spoilers: Nick Heads to Rehab
And we may see Nick desperately needing a trip to rehab soon, especially since he is increasingly worked up about Matt and Phyllis and getting texts from his dealer and then has a setback the prior week. Lily and Cane are in uncharted territory. They might just be casual, but it’s great progress. They’re sizzling.
Nikki’s vision may begin to return soon, and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) could make progress in his plot to destroy Victor by using Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) if the DA will work with him. I also suspect we’re going to see Matt and Phyllis getting a lot closer soon, and I doubt that Matt’s going to leave Genoa City.

The singer has reportedly filed a lawsuit against individuals accused of hacking into her private files and distributing songs without permission, marking her strongest response yet to the long-running leak controversy.
The legal action follows years of frustration after Ariana Grande’s unreleased songs repeatedly surfaced online through alleged hacks and leaks, allowing unfinished material to spread across the internet without her approval.
Ariana Grande has filed a lawsuit against several unidentified individuals, accusing them of hacking into the digital accounts of photographers and producers she worked with to steal unreleased songs, private photos, videos, and audio recordings.
It was reported that the singer claims cyberattacks have repeatedly targeted her throughout her career. The suit identifies up to 100 John Does, including alleged hackers and anyone involved in distributing, selling, or buying the material.
The content was sold for large amounts of money on the dark web, says Grande, who states that it caused “substantial and irreparable harm.” The singer is seeking relief from the court to end the alleged theft and distribution, and send a warning to all those involved in leaking stolen material.
Grande believes that artists deserve the final say on the timing and nature of their work’s release, and believes that releasing something that an artist has not yet released is an infringement of their creative and privacy rights, per TMZ.
Hackers Turned Unreleased Song Into Viral Hit
The leak incident wasn’t the first time the singer has faced a leak scandal. In an interview on the “Zach Sang Show” in 2024, Grande admitted that a handful of tracks from her sessions with producer Max Martin have leaked onto the internet without her consent, including the unreleased song “Fantasize.
The song was reported to have been written for an unnamed TV project and not one of her albums. The pop star did not hide her frustration, joking that those responsible would eventually face the consequences. “I’ll see you in jail, literally,” she said, before describing the people behind the leaks as “thieves, pirates, crooks.”
She also admitted she would “pay you more to put it away” after the unfinished song spread across social media. Despite the setback, Grande said some of those early ideas were eventually reworked into new material, although in very different forms.
Ariana Grande Turned Her Frustration Into New Music
Rather than letting the leaks define the project, Grande said the unexpected reaction from fans influenced her creative process. Although “Fantasize” was never intended for release, she acknowledged that listeners embraced it, prompting her to reshape some of its ideas for her “Eternal Sunshine” album.
The singer explained that the versions fans eventually heard were far removed from the leaked recordings, adding that some tracks had even been stolen again before they were officially released.

Stone claimed the songs shared striking similarities in their lyrics, rhythm, and note placement, arguing that musicology experts found the hooks nearly identical. He also alleged that he had previously pitched the track to producer Tommy Brown before it was later repurposed into “7 Rings.”
According to PEOPLE, the lawsuit sought monetary damages and the destruction of copies of the song held by the defendants. Although the allegations centered on a very different dispute, the case highlighted how questions over ownership and creative rights have followed some of the singer’s biggest releases.
Ariana Grande Has Navigated Music Disputes Before
Long before the current hacking lawsuit, Grande had already faced legal challenges tied to her music. The Hollywood Reporter shared that in 2013, UK-based Minder Music sued the singer and several music companies, alleging that “The Way” borrowed a recognizable phrase from The Jimmy Castor Bunch’s 1972 hit “Troglodyte” without authorization, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The publisher claimed that the line was sufficiently original to be protected by copyright and wanted damages as well as legal costs and an injunction. As one of the first cases to involve Grande’s catalog in a copyright dispute, the case is part of a pattern of copyright claims that have emerged over her career.
A decade later, the situation has changed, and the singer is now going to court to defend her own songs, which are still unpublished, instead of a released hit.

HBCU Bans Sleepwear Including Durags and Bonnets
Tuskegee President Dr. Mark A. Brown noted the new dress code in a memo to new students’ parents, per HBCU Game Day.
The memo noted that students aren’t allowed to wear revealing clothing in official university settings, including classrooms, dining spaces, Convocation, or the cafeteria. Additionally, the university banned students from wearing sleepwear outside of the residence halls.
“Dress standards at Tuskegee University require that students are dressed in good taste at all times,” reads the Tuskegee Student Handbook. “Students are not permitted to wear sleepwear outside of the residence halls. Men are not permitted to wear headwear that includes ‘do rags’, stocking caps, bandanas, baseball caps, and/or any other head paraphernalia inside the buildings. Women are not permitted to wear baseball caps inside buildings. Men are required to wear their pants on their waists (no sagging pants) in academic facilities. Any style of dress that distracts or takes away from the teaching/learning process in the classroom will not be permitted. Students are expected to dress in a neat manner and make the appropriate selections for the time, occasion and place.”

TikTok user @for_real_imreallyunique shared a video where she noted that many students may not take the ban too well. She said that while she understood the need for a dress code, college costs money, and students won’t like the bonnet-and-durag portion of the ban.

Olivia Rodrigo appears to have firmly moved on from Louis Partridge after sharing her most affectionate public outing yet with reported new boyfriend Julian Croonenberghs.
The 23-year-old singer was photographed cuddling the private-equity professional during a relaxed park date in New York City, weeks after repeated sightings first sparked speculation that she had found love outside the entertainment industry.
The latest photographs reportedly show Rodrigo and Croonenberghs enjoying a laid-back date in a Brooklyn park on Sunday, July 26.
The “Drivers License” singer rested in his arms, smiled as they spoke and kissed his hand during the outing. Croonenberghs was also seen kissing her hand before pulling her close.
According to E! News, Rodrigo kept a relatively low profile in sunglasses and a baseball cap, pairing a cropped vest with denim shorts.
Although the outfit and setting were understated, the couple’s affectionate behaviour made their relationship considerably more difficult to dismiss as a friendship.
The date represents the clearest public display between them since reports of the romance emerged earlier in July.
Neither Rodrigo nor Croonenberghs has personally announced that they are together, and her representatives have not publicly commented on the photographs. The PDA nevertheless appears to confirm weeks of speculation surrounding the pair.
Olivia Rodrigo’s Reported Romance Had Been Building Quietly
Rodrigo and Croonenberghs did not emerge as a reported couple overnight. They were first linked in June after being spotted together at a wine bar in Brooklyn.
Further sightings followed around the borough, allowing fans to identify Rodrigo’s previously unnamed companion as Croonenberghs. Their relationship appeared to be more established when they were subsequently photographed at an airport after reportedly travelling from Iceland to New York.
The overseas sighting gave the speculation more weight, but the pair remained physically reserved in the available photographs. Their latest park date therefore marks a visible change, offering the first widely published images of them openly cuddling and exchanging affectionate gestures.
The emerging timeline suggests that the two had been spending time together privately for several weeks before their romance became a public talking point.
However, while Rodrigo is one of the world’s most recognisable young singers, the man attracting her attention has built his career far away from Hollywood.
Who Is Olivia Rodrigo’s New Man?
Croonenberghs works in private equity as a member of Hg’s Mercury team in New York. According to his official company biography, he joined the investment firm in 2024 after working in Goldman Sachs’ Financial Institutions Investment Banking division.
He graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics and computer science. His professional background makes him a departure from the actors, producers, musicians and entertainment executives previously linked to Rodrigo.
Croonenberghs also has a notable sporting history. Published reports identify him as a former member of the United States men’s national field hockey team, representing the country between 2018 and 2020. He also played the sport during his time at Brown.
Although some reports have referred to him broadly as a banker or Wall Street figure, “private-equity professional” is the most accurate description of his current occupation. Unlike Rodrigo, he has no established career in entertainment and maintained a low public profile before their reported relationship became news.
The Singer Recently Revealed Her New Outlook On Love
Rodrigo’s apparent new relationship comes months after she discussed how her approach to romance had changed following earlier heartbreak.
During an April interview with Cosmopolitan, conducted by her longtime friend and former “Bizaardvark” co-star Madison Hu, Rodrigo said patience was one of the most important lessons she had learned about love.
“Things happen the way that they’re supposed to happen,” she said, adding that romance should not feel “white-knuckle.”
The Grammy winner also suggested that dating no longer occupied the centre of her emotional life. She described romantic love as a “cherry on top” while emphasising the importance of friendships and the community she had built around herself.
Her comments were made before Croonenberghs was publicly identified as her reported partner, but they now offer relevant context for a romance that appears to have developed without a formal announcement or highly choreographed debut.
Rodrigo’s New Chapter Follows Louis Partridge Split
Olivia Rodrigo’s romance with Croonenberghs is her first widely reported relationship since her split from English actor Louis Partridge.
The former couple began dating in late 2023 and were seen together repeatedly during their nearly two-year romance. They made a prominent public appearance at the 2024 Venice Film Festival before reportedly ending their relationship in December 2025.
Their breakup became closely linked to Rodrigo’s third album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” released in June 2026. The project has widely been interpreted as tracing the arc of their relationship, from early infatuation and plans for a future together to disappointment and acceptance after the split.
Reports indicate that Rodrigo initially conceived portions of the project while she was still with Partridge before revising its emotional direction following their breakup. However, she has not confirmed that every lyric or song concerns him.
Croonenberghs’ arrival therefore coincides with a significant transition in both Rodrigo’s personal life and her music.
Justin Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios has been ordered to pay The New York Times’ legal fees after its lawsuit against the publication was dismissed.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Wayfarer Studios LLC has been ordered to pay $171,616 to the news outlet.
Us has reached out to Baldoni’s team for comment.
In December 2024, The New York Times initially reported on Blake Lively’s complaint against Baldoni, her It Ends With Us costar and director.
Lively, 38, accused Baldoni of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment and orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her.
Baldoni, 42, denied all allegations and subsequently filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times.
Baldoni and his associates alleged that The New York Times “cherry-picked” information to mislead readers about his dispute with Lively in its December 2024 article titled “We Can Bury Anyone: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine.”
In June 2025, however, Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit against The New York Times and Lively.

“We are grateful to the court for seeing the lawsuit for what it was: a meritless attempt to stifle honest reporting,” a spokesperson for The New York Times said in a statement to Us at the time. “Our journalists went out and covered carefully and fairly a story of public importance, and the court recognized that the law is designed to protect just that sort of journalism.”
The statement continued: “We will continue to stand up in court for our journalism and for our journalists when their work comes under attack.”
In May, Baldoni and Lively reached a settlement in their own It Ends With Us legal battle, just weeks before they were set to go to trial. A source told Us at the time that money was not exchanged between Lively and Baldoni.
“The end product — the movie It Ends With Us — is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors — and all survivors — is a goal that we stand behind,” Lively and Baldoni said in a statement to Us via their attorneys on May 4. “We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard.”

Settlement aside, the It Ends With Us drama doesn’t appear to be officially over. In June, Lively requested that Baldoni pay approximately $8 million in legal fees.
Baldoni’s lawyers, however, slammed the request, claiming via court documents, “Lively fails to meet her burden to present credible evidence showing that the fees and costs she seeks to recover are reasonable and, accordingly, her fee motion should be denied in its entirety.”
