The Extremely R-Rated James Cameron Sci-Fi Being Unfairly Forgotten

By Robert Scucci & Joshua Tyler | Published

As streaming providers continue cutting costs to increase profits, and studios stop releasing physical copies due to a lack of interest, some of the best sci-fi movies ever made are on the verge of being lost forever. In 1995, a sci-fi movie tried to issue a warning about the future, and no one listened. It flopped at the box office, and despite a positive response from the few who saw it, the film was soon lost to the mists of history. Now, it’s hard to find on streaming and totally out of print on physical media. But we think it’s worth seeing.

This is why Strange Days failed.

One of the hardest things about enjoying dystopian sci-fi is how time continues to march forward, and suddenly we’re looking back at 1995’s Strange Days in the year 2026, knowing full well that Y2K’s initial threat never came close to living up to expectations. It’s easy to write off films like Strange Days for this reason alone because we all lived to see another day, despite the many kernels of truth peppered throughout the film’s premise. It’s worth noting, though, that the film isn’t nearly as dated as you might think, as it taps into present-day issues like police brutality, government overreach, device addiction, and a general sense of technology-driven apathy and malaise.

One of the unfortunate realities about Strange Days is that it’s nearly impossible to watch online. However, this isn’t due to some grand Orwellian conspiracy once you look at the numbers. Since it’s not easy to watch online, I probably should explain what kind of movie Strange Days is.

One SQUID To Rule Them All

Strange Days opens with a literal bang as we witness a Chinese restaurant getting held up at gunpoint. It’s shot from a frantic first-person perspective, and the robbery quickly goes off the rails. The building is surrounded by police, there’s a frenetic chase sequence, and after trying to jump from one city rooftop to the next, the person whose head we’re living in loses his grip and falls to his death, which introduces us to our protagonist, Lenny Nero, played by Ralph Fiennes.

Lenny is a former LAPD officer turned black market purveyor of the highly illegal, highly addictive SQUID (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device), a sort of virtual reality technology that allows its users to live somebody else’s memories as if they were their own. Lenny gets a kick out of watching the memories, which are stored on small CD-ROMS, when he retrieves them from his hookup, Tick, before selling them off for a profit. He’s essentially a drug dealer because people become addicted to the dopamine rush that comes from living vicariously through somebody else’s memories and experiencing every sensation as if they were their own.

In between his black market business ventures, Lenny often throws on discs featuring memories with his rock band fronting ex-girlfriend Faith, played by Juliette Lewis, while downplaying his obsession whenever he’s around Angela Bassett’s Mace. Mace is a limo driver and bodyguard who doesn’t like how deep into the SQUID technology he’s getting. She doesn’t want to see him go off the deep end because when he was a cop, he functioned as a father figure to her young son after her abusive boyfriend was arrested and Lenny was the officer on the scene.

When a SQUID disc depicting a murder is dropped through the sunroof of Lenny’s car by a frightened prostitute, Lenny, Mace, and private investigator Max, played by the late great Tom Sizemore, try to figure out exactly what’s going on. While this initial murder investigation is underway, a far more sinister plot emerges involving Faith’s new record executive boyfriend and the recently murdered rapper and activist he used to manage.

Laid out like that, this plot sounds like a tangled mess, but in the context of the film, it all fits together. That makes sense given the talent behind it. James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow are masters of the craft.

When Cyberpunk And Neo-Noir Aesthetics Collide

Strange Days 1995

As in most dystopian films, everything looks simultaneously modern and run-down, and the LA backdrop does so much heavy lifting in Strange Days. Really, all you need to make the imagery pop is wet streets and plenty of neon, and there’s no shortage of either here. Throw in police-state chaos and a murder mystery that slowly unfolds through the voyeuristic SQUID technology as Lenny finds more discs pointing him in the right direction, and you have a solid neo-noir plot where nobody can be trusted because everybody’s up to something.

Lenny and Mace keep the whole film grounded because they trust each other, but with everybody else whispering in their ears, they’re truly going it alone, which becomes terrifying once you consider Lenny’s increasing dependence on SQUID and Mace’s unwillingness to watch somebody she loves destroy himself.

Strange Days 1995

Everything about Strange Days still holds up today if you ignore the whole Y2K angle, but in my mind, that just makes it a time capsule from a very specific moment in history. The SQUID technology is more relevant than ever because it hints at the kind of media addiction we live with today. The Jeriko One storyline points to much larger systemic issues involving racism and the horrors of living in a police state where every officer is corrupt and pushing some sort of ulterior agenda.

What makes Strange Days a truly timeless piece of cinematic art is its gritty aesthetic, shifts in perspective, and willingness to hold back major reveals until absolutely necessary, layering the mystery that rewards multiple viewings. Strange Days is uncomfortable, addictive, and, at its core, a thrilling mystery that slowly unravels across 145 minutes without ever skimping on style or favoring it over substance.

Why Strange Days Failed

Strange Days 1995

James Cameron was right to pen the screenplay with director Kathryn Bigelow in mind because she clearly understood the assignment. That should have paid off in a big way at the box office, but it didn’t.

Many critics, like Roger Ebert, gave Strange Days a perfect four-star rating, and the film currently boasts only a 71 percent critical score on Rotten Tomatoes. 71 percent is good, but not great. Which means most people liked it, but they didn’t REALLY like it. That also likely means there wasn’t a lot of word of mouth out there pushing people to see it when Strange Days came out. So, Strange Days was a total box office wipeout.

Strange Days 1995

Kathryn Bigelow’s cyberpunk thriller reportedly cost around $42 million to make, but earned only about $8 million domestically after opening wide in 1,691 theaters with a weak $3.7 million weekend. Even allowing for some international grosses, the movie came nowhere close to recouping its budget, making it one of 1995’s more painful sci-fi failures.

It was an expensive studio movie with the commercial instincts of a cult movie, and at the time of its release, most blamed the flop on the film’s confusing marketing campaign. The movie was hard to explain in one clean hook: it was sci-fi, but not fun sci-fi; action, but not a simple action movie; political, but wrapped in a lurid techno-thriller. The result was especially brutal because Strange Days had prestige talent behind it, including Bigelow, James Cameron, Ralph Fiennes, Angela Bassett, and Juliette Lewis, but none of those names were huge draws on their own back then, and audiences simply did not show up.

Why Strange Days Is Hard To Find On Streaming

In other words, Strange Days, despite its modest acclaim, is still very much in the red, and when you consider the complicated, longstanding rights issues associated with the film, it’s not exactly a high-priority IP for streaming platforms to pick up. Still, there are a lot of failed movies on streaming, so you’d think it would be easy to find out there. It isn’t.

After not being online for a long time, it briefly surfaced on HBO Max in 2023 and then disappeared again. Strange Days is, as of this moment, only very recently available on Hulu, and who knows how long that will last.

Strange Days 1995

The best way to watch the film is to track down a used physical copy on Amazon or keep your eyes peeled the next time you’re at the thrift store. Even then, you might have a hard time finding it because it’s been out of print for quite some time.

It’s worth watching if you can find a copy. If you get one, hang on to your physical media version. They aren’t making more of them.

Days of our Lives: Cat Weaponizes Marlena’s Secret & Completely Destroys EJ

Published

on

Days of Our Lives: Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) - Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) - EJ DiMera's (Dan Feuerriegel)

Days of Our Lives fans. Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) just got an earful from Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) about EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) presumed role in the arsenic laced Coriseal incident. And you can bet Cat is going to use that in her ongoing ISA investigation because she is so determined to take down EJ no matter what.

Days of our Lives: Cat’s Big Break

So, this new tip off from Marlena is pretty big. Cat could use this as she continues to spy on EJ trying to get the goods on him for the ISA even though Andrew Donovan (Colton Little) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) want her to back off. So, as you know, Cat’s been spying on EJ for quite a while now, and she recently spilled to Marlena that she’s working for the ISA.

That was because Andrew told Cat she can talk to Marlena about anything because she’s got clearance. And of course, Marlena understands the ISA protocol of keeping things hush hush. Cat already knew that Marlena’s late husband, John Black, (Drake Hogestyn) was an ISA super spy. So between that and Marlena’s clearance and doctor patient confidentiality, all that’s come into play.

So, even given some of this, it wasn’t until Andrew reassured Cat that Marlena was cleared that she was willing to go under hypnosis because Cat really wants to find out about her past with EJ in Italy. Marlena put two and two together and realized Cat was spying on their mutual boss, EJ. That’s why Marlena decided to go ahead and spill. And she told Cat about the arsenic tainted Coriseal pills that were ostensibly associated with DiMera Pharmaceuticals.

DOOL: Brady & Sarah Still Searching

And so far, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) don’t have any concrete evidence against EJ. The first water test from the Horton cabin showed arsenic, but not Coriseal. That’s because EJ and his henchwoman, Rita, tampered with the test. And then Brady had his private eye partner Steve Johnson run a second test using an ISA lab.

That way EJ couldn’t alter it. But that one not only showed no Coriseal contamination, it also didn’t show any arsenic. So that left Brady and Sarah head scratching for about a minute. But it turns out Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) had the well water purified after she learned about poor Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) almost dying after drinking the arsenic tainted water.

Days of Our Lives: Cat’s Blackmail Options and ISA Investigation

And if you recall, Cat came back to the ISA as a financial analyst when the agency needed her to work on the multi-agency investigation into EJ alongside Rafe. And of course, he was looking into how EJ got the funds to purchase the struggling University Hospital. That part wasn’t terribly nefarious. Not as nefarious as it could have been. Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) was bankrolling EJ and Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton). And that came after EJ helped Gwen kidnap Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte). So that’s the nefarious part. She had all of his money to spend.

She was funding hospital and research and all that and the lab that resurrected Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford). But after EJ told Gwen he wouldn’t honor their deal and was going to give her a smaller percentage, she was really ticked. Plus, there’s really not a lot of ROI coming because the Versix serum won’t resurrect the dead very effectively. It still could help people with sepsis. So hopefully there’ll be some money coming in at some point, but they’re in clinical trials and through the FDA process now.

Cat Got Close to EJ on Days

So, over the past year, while digging into this, Cat got close to EJ as his administrative assistant, but also as a honey trap. Cat’s trying to get as much info out of Elvis Jr. as possible. And after Cat did the hypnotherapy session with Marlena, she remembered quite a bit. Not only did she recall reading to EJ while they were both at the hospital in Italy, but also that Cat kissed EJ. And that came after he squeezed her hand.

It sure looked like Cat was into him back then, but maybe she was already playing him at that point, like she was playing EJ this week. So, he saw Cat with Felicity in the town square and joined them. And then Cat mentioned that Felicity is getting her driver’s license on Days of our Lives. So, EJ offered to let Felicity take a spin in his Lamborghini after she mentioned that she had read that EJ had been a race car driver. He’s too tall to be a race car driver.

I don’t know if you can fit a guy that big in a race car. But anyway, Felicity asked if they were dating or if EJ was just her sister Cat’s boss. It all seemed very cute, but then when EJ walked away, Cat told Felicity she did a good job with her lines, just like Cat told her. Yikes. She’s even got sweet little Felicity setting up EJ. I feel like that’s Cat going a little too far.

Days of our Lives: Cat Gets Major Info from Marlena

So, after that run-in with EJ, that’s when Cat learned from Marlena about the arsenic poisoning associated with DiMera Pharmaceuticals’ Coriseal pills. So, the question is, what is Cat going to do with this brand new intel about EJ? I can think of a few ways that she could use it to her advantage. You know, first of all, Cat could take it public and expose EJ because Cat knows full well that Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) would love to write an expose about EJ’s dark dealings.

Cat could leak the information to Leo via an anonymous tip with some evidence. She doesn’t even have to out herself. But we could also see Cat telling Rafe about the link between DiMera Pharmaceuticals and Holly’s poisoning and other deaths. And from there, Rafe could figure out what to do. You know, EJ and the pharmaceutical company are criminally negligent at a minimum.

Days of Our Lives: Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) - Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) - EJ DiMera's (Dan Feuerriegel)Days of Our Lives: Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) - Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) - EJ DiMera's (Dan Feuerriegel)
Days of Our Lives: Cat Greene – Marlena Evans – EJ DiMera

Cat Blackmails EJ on DOOL?

Another option is Cat could use Marlena’s info to personally blackmail or pressure EJ. We could see Cat confront EJ in private about the water test, the missing pharmaceutical company records, all that stuff. But I think Cat would have to be careful not to incriminate herself. But we could see her telling EJ she heard it as gossip up at work. And that could be why the summer promo shows EJ firing Sarah.

You know, Cat could use that information that she claims she heard plus their personal history and the Italy connection trying to manipulate EJ to get him to do the right thing. Especially if he thinks Cat is going to be his reward for being decent. You know, EJ might be tempted, but I think we all know doing right is not really his thing.

We could also see Cat turn to EJ’s son, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), trying to flip him on his dad. You know, Cat could tell Johnny what she knows. Thing is, he pretty much knows what she knows because EJ had him leave that book open for Sarah so she could save Holly from the arsenic poisoning.

Then again, we could see Cat and Rafe setting up an ISA FBI sting operation to expose EJ and the toxic drugs, the cover up, the deaths, maybe more, plus the water contamination. So, Rafe and Andrew may agree that Cat can wear a wire and get up close and personal with EJ to get what they need to make an arrest, but I don’t think either of them are actually going to want to let her get that close to him.

Cat uses EJ’s Heart against Him on Days

But I also think that Cat’s going to keep exploiting EJ’s romantic interest in her and use his growing feelings. She could do that to try to get him to confess on tape or to get access to his computer, get something in writing that’s hard evidence. I just wonder at some point if Cat’s going to get conflicted because of her own feelings for EJ.

You know, in the end, despite her former determination, she may hesitate to bring him to justice. Or in a twist, Cat may have second thoughts and actually protect EJ before the big reveal. You know what I’m wondering is when this all comes out, is Cat going to be in danger of EJ coming after her for revenge? Especially when he seems to have sincere feelings for her and Cat seems to be playing on those.

But the other thing is there’s a chance that EJ is five chess moves ahead and he’s known this whole time that Cat was undercover and he was doing one of those “keep your enemies closer” thing and he is pretending to be into her or he can’t help himself and he is into her but he’s wise to what she’s trying to pull against him. That would be a fun twist. Bottom line, I think we’re going to see if it’s a cat and mouse game where the mouse gets the better of Cat.

Big Brother: Who Won HOH Week 2? Power Player Set to Trigger Massive House Shakeup on BB28!

Published

on

Big Brother 28: Jason De Puy

After the Big Brother live eviction on Thursday night, they played the Head of Household comp. And we’ve got your week 2 HOH results for BB28. We saw Yash Patel win the BB Blockbuster and then Ashley Trail went out on a 14-0 house vote.

And when the feeds came back up, another reality TV icon had won the Head of Household. Given that Dee Valladares couldn’t play, that tells you it was either Angela Murray or Rick Devens. We’ll talk about what went down and who’s headed to the chopping block.

Big Brother: Ashley Sent Down the Trail

Ashley’s gone and did it to herself by revealing the big alliance. And once Drew Campbell took that back to the Crossovers, that was it. Dee decided Ashley had to go so she couldn’t expose their big power alliance.

Also, Ashley set a record on her way out. Ashley’s the first person in Big Brother history to be evicted with 14 votes. And post-eviction, on the live feeds, we saw who won the week 2 HoH comp.

The Crossovers were hoping one of them or Red Corner would win it. Because otherwise, they knew there were targets on their back. Mallory Aurichio was gunning for Dee in retribution for being thrown on the block.

And Jason de Puy told everyone he’s going after Dee, Rick Devens and Angela Murray. Because let’s face it, Jason’s ego is wounded that he wasn’t brought in as an icon himself having been on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Big Brother: Jason’s Chaotic Play

People are still on fire about Jason’s dirty move on Big Brother. With him manipulating Angela. But even if it was strategic, it was sloppy. Because Jason went around telling people he was fake crying. Why?

We know Dan Gheesling lied to Frank about taking him to F2 after his legendary funeral. But Dan didn’t do it when he had safety. Jason was safe and had no reason to be playing that hard.

There was also in BB24, Daniel wanting to guilt Jasmine using her dead dad to flip her vote. And over on Survivor, the coldest move ever was when Johnny Fairplay had his friend Dan tell him that his grandmother died.

Which she didn’t. The tribe felt so bad they let Johnny win the next challenge. The other castaways found out post-season. So, Johnny kept it locked down and it was legendary.

Big Brother 28: Devens Wins HOH and Jason’s Overconfidence

With Jason targeting Devens in particular because he’s well-liked and funny, this HOH comp was all-important. Plus, Jason thinks Devens is his main competition for AFP. He’s even decided that Devens is stealing his jokes by saying funny stuff before Jason can.

Melody Morris said that Devens is hilarious. And Barrett Pfeiffer said he’s actually mad about how funny Devens is. Jason’s also griped about wanting more screentime. He’s also been lying and telling the other houseguests he might try out for Drag Race after this.

But then when they were voting on Thursday’s episode, while Melody was in the hall right outside, Jason was shouting out RuPaul, Carson Kressley and Ross Matthews from Drag Race.

The big question is whether Melody heard him and tattles to others about his lies. Now, let’s talk about the new Head of Household for week 2. Feeds came back up post-eviction at almost 1 AM Eastern time. The houseguests were all in cute western costumes.

Big Brother 28: Jason De PuyBig Brother 28: Jason De Puy
Big Brother 28: Jason De Puy

Big Brother: Everybody Wants Devens

Devens had the key around his neck and he was all in black with a cool turquoise bolo tie. The outfits were all cool. I’m sure Chuk Anyanwu was super comfy and probably had his own western wardrobe that he could have worn for this HOH comp.

So, Devens talked to Rome Seymour in the storage room and promised to talk more later but said that he’s set, implying that Devens won’t nominate Rome. However, when he asked Devens about where Lyric Medeiros stands, Devens was less reassuring.

There’s also the time capsule reward or punishment coming and I won’t be surprised if an icon takes that too, but we’ll see. Right after the feeds came back, everyone was already trying to score alone time with Devens.

Big Brother 28: Nomination Speculation and Target Analysis

This is back-to-back Survivor HOHs by the way. That means Angela and Dee are both safe. With Jason talking nonstop about putting Devens on the block and making a meal out of backdooring him, that’s an obvious nomination.

I’m counting the minutes until Angela presses Devens to put Jason up on that block. Mallory’s also had Devens’ name in her mouth. He said he wouldn’t nom someone who’d already been up but only mentioned Yash and Taylor.

Obviously, Barrett and Drew are safe. And likely the Red Corner of Haley Thogmartin, Chuk and Kamuela “Kamu” Kirk are safe. I’d like to see Devens nominate Rome, Lyric and Jason. Hopefully Devens knows you shouldn’t put up half a showmance.

Because if Lyric’s up and Rome’s not, and he’s picked to play veto, that doubles Lyric’s chances in POV and means two people could be gunning for Devens if she comes down. We’ll see. Come back tomorrow to hear the nominations!

Zendaya's Hairstylist Coree Moreno Says the Actress Knows Exactly What She Wants When She Sits in His Chair

Your hair is your crown, and few people understand that better than Zendaya.

The actress’ hairstylist, Coree Moreno, sat down with ET to reveal the creative process behind her latest looks, including the dreamy, flowing styles she’s been rocking during The Odyssey press tour.

Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images

And when inspiration strikes, it usually starts with Zendaya herself.

“Normally she’s found a reference and it’s my job to birth the vision,” he says. “She’s open with intention and sure about how she wants to look. I love the challenge of unveiling her deepest hair desires.”

Lately, those ideas have leaned into soft, cascading lengths, which Moreno created using Bellami’s Flex Weft in Dark Brown and Tape In extentions in Chocolate Rebel.

Todd Owyoung/NBC via Getty Images

“Bellami is perfect for everything from subtle fullness to custom hairpieces for everyday wear,” he explains. “They have such a diverse shade range, and I love mixing multiple colors to create depth and texture.”

These days, he’s been using the brand to create an airy, lived-in aesthetic.

Aurore Marechal/Getty Images

“I love ethereal, undone feels,” he shares. “Not manipulating the texture and letting waves and curls live in their true state is the future of hair.”

His advice for channeling that effortless energy this summer is refreshingly simple.

“Whether it’s polished or deconstructed, braids are perfect for unpredictable weather, giving the hair direction and order while beating the heat,” he explains.

Shane Anthony Sinclair/Getty Images

His favorite finishing touches? Beaded scarves, fabric wraps, hats, and headbands are all on his list of must-haves this season.

“Hair accessories are the perfect way to elevate a style without thinking too hard about it.”

R-Rated Apocalyptic 80s Thriller Is A Frantic, Real-Time Race For Survival

R-Rated Apocalyptic 80s Thriller Is A Frantic, Real-Time Race For Survival

By Robert Scucci
| Published

There’s no better way to depict the beginning of the end than to show exactly how it might happen in real time, like in 1988’s Miracle Mile. The story is a simple one about a guy learning that a full-blown nuclear war is about to kick off, and how he needs to not only convince everybody around him that he isn’t crazy, but also find the woman he just met, who may very well be the love of his life, so they can escape the apocalypse and live to see another day.

There’s not much you need to know about Miracle Mile to be sold on its premise other than the fact that this movie goes hard. Once its conflict is established, it becomes a race against the clock, resulting in an unthinkable amount of collateral damage brought on by mass hysteria.

If Only He Didn’t Pick Up The Phone

The fatalist in me has taught me not to engage in certain behavior, especially after watching too many thrillers to count. For example, if a random payphone outside of a diner rings, maybe don’t pick it up. If you don’t know what you don’t know, you can just grab a cheeseburger, not knowing it may be your last.

Picking up the phone is exactly what Harry Washell (Anthony Edwards) does after trying to reach Julie Peters (Mare Winningham), a woman he only just met earlier in the day while visiting the La Brea Tar Pits. Harry promises to meet Julie at her late-night bartending shift after the two hit it off so well, oversleeps, and wakes up at 4:00 a.m. He makes his way to the local diner and leaves Julie a voicemail apologizing for missing their date. The second he hangs up, the pay phone rings again. He answers, and he’s greeted by a distraught man named Chip, who warns him of an incoming nuclear launch that will decimate the city.

Miracle Mile 1988

Before Harry can extract any more information from Chip, he hears the man get shot dead, only for another man to pick up the phone and tell him to forget anything ever happened. Rightfully disturbed by the exchange, Harry enters the diner and tells everybody what he heard, which is met with understandable skepticism. When a businesswoman named Landa (Denise Crosby) all but confirms his suspicions, she makes arrangements for an evacuation via private jet, an offer that every patron immediately jumps on.

Harry, on the other hand, stays behind so he can track down Julie and meet up with them later. If the end times are kicking off on the same day he meets the woman of his dreams, he might as well rescue her. After all, you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take, even if the world as you know it is about to end.

A Frantic Race Against The Clock

Miracle Mile 1988

While Miracle Mile obviously uses filmic time to seamlessly get you from point A to point B, the whole thing plays out as if it were unfolding in real time. The entire second and third acts involve Harry scrambling to find Julie and fill her in on what’s happening. If he’s successful, he can catch up with everybody from the diner and get out of the city before the bombs start dropping. While the streets are overrun with panic and bedlam, we’re still not sure if Chip’s warning is legitimate or if it simply triggered a mass panic over nothing. All signs suggest that something catastrophic is about to happen, but Miracle Mile’s on-the-street, “we don’t know what’s going on,” energy is frenetic enough to keep you guessing.

If you’ve ever had the displeasure of attending a densely populated event that suddenly needs to be evacuated, you’ll know exactly the feeling I’m talking about. It doesn’t take long for something as simple as a teenager pulling a fire alarm at a convention to be blown way out of proportion as the people living through it assume the worst. Here, the stakes are high enough, and you’re drip-fed enough clues from the story, to surmise that this could very well be the real deal.

Miracle Mile 1988

When the going gets tough, though, Miracle Mile is not without levity. My favorite sequence involves Harry running into an all-night gym and asking every single spandex-wrapped meathead if any of them know how to fly a helicopter. What makes it so funny is that he finds exactly what he’s looking for, making you think, “Well… how convenient?”

That is not to say that Miracle Mile is a comedy. It is very much a thriller. At 87 minutes, it’s relentlessly paced and doesn’t waste a single minute of its run time. It’s also the adventure of a lifetime. At the very least, I can’t think of anything more thrilling than running through a city on the verge of destruction, saving the girl, and then jumping into a chopper while everybody below you gets reduced to ash.

Miracle Mile 1988

To find out Harry and Julie’s fate in Miracle Mile, you can stream the film for free on Tubi as of this writing. If you’re looking for a mean and lean thriller to fill your evening, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Travis Kelce is getting ready for another season with the Kansas City Chiefs — weeks after his and Taylor Swift‘s wedding.

Kelce, 36, was photographed returning to training in Florida on Thursday, July 16. He wore a black T-shirt and gray athletic shorts during the public outing, which came weeks after he got married to Swift, 36, in New York City.

The Chiefs open training camp on July 29 at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.

“The bride and groom’s wedding ceremony looks have been created by Christian Dior Haute Couture. They are designed by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections, in close collaboration with the Bride and Groom,” read a July statement from Swift’s rep about the nuptials. “This is the designer’s first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity. Their shoes were custom made by Christian Louboutin and the bride wore Cartier jewelry.”

At the time, Kelce credited Swift, 36, for her support.

“We share the same love for what we do, and we’ve had this … desire,” Kelce shared at the time. “I’m still in love with this game.”

Of course I don’t want to end my career not making the playoffs, not having one of the best years.”

The tight end recalled realizing “it still felt like I was hungry enough to get back at it.”

“Obviously there’s still a little bit of that grit and that emotion, you know, I f***ing hated the way that s*** ended last year,” he continued. “I want to make it right. And I want to get a chance at another f***ing Super Bowl.”

Mick Jagger Draws Hard Line On AI Recreating The Rolling Stones

Published

on

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the music industry, Mick Jagger is making one thing clear: he has no interest in hearing computers recreate The Rolling Stones.

The legendary frontman recently addressed the growing use of AI in music, drawing a distinction between creative experimentation and technology that simply copies existing artists. While The Rolling Stones have dabbled with AI-assisted visuals, Jagger says the line is crossed when artificial intelligence begins replicating the voices, sounds, and identities of real musicians.

Speaking in a new interview with Billboard, Jagger reflected on the band’s recent experience using deepfake technology in the music video for “In the Stars,” a track featured on The Rolling Stones’ newly released album “Foreign Tongues.”

The video digitally transformed the band’s appearance, allowing younger versions of the musicians to appear on screen. However, Jagger emphasized that the technology was limited to visual effects rather than replacing the performers themselves. “We had a lot of fun with that,” Jagger explained. “It’s only the faces of the musicians that are different.”

According to the singer, the performers remained real musicians playing in a real environment, with the digital effects serving only to recreate the band’s youthful appearance.

While Jagger appeared comfortable with AI’s role in visual storytelling, he expressed significant concern about technology being used to replicate artists’ voices and musical styles. “Obviously I don’t want to be imitated by AI, vocally and instrumentally, and the band doesn’t,” Jagger said.

Jagger argued that technology should be used to create something original rather than produce near-identical copies of existing musicians. “I don’t want people just putting stuff out there that can sound exactly like The Rolling Stones,” he said. “I think that’s obviously wrong.”

His comments arrive as record labels, artists, and lawmakers continue debating how AI-generated music should be regulated. In recent years, viral songs using artificial versions of major artists’ voices have sparked lawsuits and renewed discussions about copyright protections in the streaming era.

In fact, Billie Eilish was one of more than 200 artists who signed an Artist Rights Alliance open letter in April 2024 urging AI developers and tech companies to stop using AI in ways that could “infringe upon and devalue the rights of human artists.” The signatures included Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Jon Bon Jovi, and others.

Keith Richards Wants Originality, Not Replication

Fellow Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards echoed Jagger’s concerns while offering his own perspective on the growing AI trend.

Richards described the band’s recent music video as its brief “brushing with AI” and joked that seeing a younger version of himself on screen was flattering. “I said, ‘Very nice. I wish I looked like that now,’” Richards recalled.

Still, the guitarist made it clear he believes music should continue to be driven by human creativity rather than algorithms trained on existing work. “My thoughts are: I’d rather hear something original,” Richards told Billboard.

He added that music should continue evolving through new ideas instead of endlessly recycling familiar sounds.

AI Continues To Divide The Music Industry

Jagger’s comments place him among a growing number of high-profile artists voicing concerns about how artificial intelligence is being used across the entertainment industry.

The debate has intensified as AI tools become increasingly capable of recreating vocals, generating songs, and mimicking the styles of established performers. While some artists have embraced the technology as a creative tool, others worry it could blur the line between inspiration and imitation.

For Jagger, the issue appears less about artificial intelligence itself and more about how it’s used. “If someone wants to make music by AI, go ahead,” he said. “But it has to be original. You have to have your own input and your own thoughts.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer added that using AI solely to generate songs “in the style of The Rolling Stones” misses the point of creativity altogether. “If you were any kind of creative person,” Jagger said, “you wouldn’t do that.”

The comments arrive as “Foreign Tongues,” The Rolling Stones’ latest studio album, continues introducing the band’s music to a new generation while simultaneously sparking conversation about how technology may shape the future of the industry.

General Hospital: Jason Brutally Dumps Britt & Sonny in Double Heartbreak!

Published

on

General Hospital: Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) - Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) - Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud)

General Hospital delivers Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) back on the scene, but he has changed drastically while being tortured by the WSB. We know from official GH spoilers that with Steve Burton back, his character is going to change the way he lives his life and go in a whole new direction.

And we’re already seeing that with Jason pledging to Danny Morgan (Asher Jared Antonyzyn) that he is all that matters now. So, Jason may shock fans soon and may also shock Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud). And let’s talk about Jason’s big life changes because he may be breaking up with a couple of people in his life.

General Hospital: Britt Circling the Drain

First, let’s start with Jason and Britt. She is almost at rock bottom. Not quite there, but I think she’s going to hit it soon. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) left her with nothing. And I expect Britt’s going to beg for her job back at General Hospital. She lost her room at the diner to new surgeon Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer).

And I kind of suspect he may be Britt’s next love interest because we know Dean Geyer did chemistry reads with both Kelly Thiebaud and Eden McCoy Josslyn Jacks. But from the vibe in those first scenes with him and Britt, to me, that’s giving the whole enemies to lovers thing. That’s another sign that she and Jason aren’t going to last.

Jason’s New Direction and Relationship Changes on GH

So, already Jason took Danny away for a few days. Jason’s clearly also got PTSD from the terrible things done to him at that WSB black site. And this ordeal might have reset Jason’s priority. Also, some fans are hoping that Jason got back his memories, the ones he lost in the car crash with his brother AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan). I’m not expecting that because we’ve known from a bunch of other stuff that there’s scar tissue on his brain, all that. But you never know, they might win it.

But with the return of Steve Burton, it definitely seems like we’ve got a kinder, gentler, more fatherhood focused version of Jason coming out of this trauma. And he may start cutting things out of his life that could take him away from Danny again. And I would also expect Jason’s going to avoid anything that would risk him going back into prison with the WSB at Pentonville, any sort of confinement after what happened.

One of those things that’s a risk to him is Britt. She’s a problem because of the danger that Jason got in because of her. Even though she didn’t intend it, Britt is just trouble. She’s the reason Jason was on the pier with Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) in the first place. And Danny, of course, is upset about the shooting and that Jason protected Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr).

So, Britt is obviously a sore spot for Danny. And I think Jason may tell Britt he’s not in the headspace to be in a relationship with anybody, not specifically her. You know, Jason may say, “It’s not you, it’s me.” And then he cuts Britt loose while she’s running around whining to everybody about the bad turn her life has taken.

General Hospital: Jason Leaves Sonny’s Organization

As for Sonny, GH summer spoilers confirm that he’s trying to take back power now that Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) out of the way and that Sonny wants Jason and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) to get along to help make that happen. However, I suspect Jason may take a step back from Sonny professionally. I don’t think he’ll do it personally.

I’m sure Jason and Sonny are going to remain lifelong friends, but Jason just may tell Sonny that he can’t do this mob stuff anymore. Not only because he doesn’t want Danny at risk, but also because of what happened to him. At this point, Jason may not have the stomach to be an enforcer anymore after enduring months of torture.

You know, that may trigger him. And of course, Sonny would miss Jason as a mob co-conspirator, but I also think that Sonny would respect Jason’s wishes, especially because Sonny’s kids mean everything to him. So, he’ll obviously understand.

And if it goes that way and Jason steps back, I know Ric would be low-key thrilled. He and Jason have never seen eye to eye. And now Ric has rebuilt his relationship with Sonny. And in the past, Ric was always so jealous of Jason. So, I think Ric would be happy if Jason’s not spending so much time with Sonny and isn’t working with him. And I also think Jason’s going to move back into the Quartermaine Mansion.

General Hospital: Jason Reconnects with the Qs on a Whole New Level

And I think he’s going to do some more reconnecting with the family, especially with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), also with Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson). And there’s a summer spoiler that says Danny plays nice with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) because of Jason. So, I think we may get some Drew and Jason interaction that’s maybe a little less antagonistic than it has been.

You know, Drew’s been locked in and Jason’s been locked up. So, with both Drew and Jason coming out of life-alteringly bad circumstances, maybe they can put aside their differences. They’ve both been through a lot. Even though, you know, Drew caused his own problems gaslighting Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) and manipulating her, but in a way, Jason caused his own problems, too. But those were for altruistic reasons, whereas Drew was just being a jerk, and that’s what happened to him.

General Hospital: Jason Gets a New Love

So, I suspect in the next few months as Jason goes down this new path, does some emotional healing, that’s when General Hospital may introduce a new romantic partner for him, possibly Serena Baldwin (Kelly Krueger), who is coming, I think the last day of this month. It’s been said that she was going to be Jason’s love interest. We’ll see if that manifests.

There was also a rumor that Jason might join the WSB. And it initially seemed plausible until we saw what was done to him. And Jason came back to Port Charles looking like a beaten down shell of himself. So, it’s hard to see why Jason would work for Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) or anybody else in the WSB.

You know, it’s not Jack’s fault that Jason was sent to the black site, but with the WSB torturing Jason brutally in Indonesia, you would think he’d be triggered by anything WSB related. I would think that Jason just needs to be with Danny and family right now and maybe with a therapist.

And Jason’s going to need to heal before he entertains any idea like that. And even then, Jason might only join the WSB to infiltrate and try and expose some of their shady stuff like what was done to him at the black site.

General Hospital: Carly’s in for a Shock

As for Jason and Carly, I think that’s going to be pretty interesting. She’ll be thrilled if Jason walks away from Britt, which seems inevitable at this point. But I’m also sure that Jason isn’t going to like seeing Carly romantically involved with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).

However, I don’t think Jason will agree to help Sonny’s plot to break up Carly and Valentin. I feel like we’re going to get a more live and let live version of Jason. Also, we know he’s got his other son, Jake Webber, (Hudson West) whom he shares with Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), but the kids are away from Port Charles now.

So, we may see Jason and Liz reconnect as co-parents talking about their offscreen son, Jake. But, I don’t think Jason and Liz are going to reconnect romantically. I know there’s hardcore Liason fans out there. I like them, too. But Liz has got her hands full with Ric. She’s been getting screen time with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). So, I don’t see them putting Jason into that mix. But I think somebody else is going to catch his eye.

Bottom line is it looks like things are about to get really interesting with Jason’s return. And I suspect we’re going to see a whole new version of him, which should be really good material for brand new daytime Emmy nominee Steve Burton. And honestly, Jason’s been kind of the same way for so long. You know, very stone cold, very this, very that. I think it’ll be a nice change of pace to see him finally getting out of the mob game, showing up for Danny consistently and not sacrificing himself for Sonny or Carly or Britt or anybody else and making healthier life choices.

Young and Restless Next Week: Nick Issues Deadly Threat & Traci Makes Risky Gamble

Published

on

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) - Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland)

Young and the Restless spoilers for next week indicate that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) makes a death threat, but that might push him back into opioid abuse. Plus, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) is making a shocking gamble, and she’s going to risk it all for her family’s safety.

We’re going to talk about what is next for Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) as her bandages come off and what Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is doing when all the stress about what’s happened to her keeps eating at her. But first, let’s talk about Nick and this death threat.

Young and the Restless: Nick Scares Sharon

So, by the end of this week, he and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) are having a talk and Nick’s telling Sharon that Nikki’s getting her bandages off the next day. Nick admits to Sharon that he feels like he’s more worried than Nikki is because she’s playing it pretty cool. What Sharon wants is for Nick to focus on his sobriety and staying clean.

And she talks to him about how much she has to fight against her bipolar disorder every day. Then Sharon says she thinks Nick has more in his mind than his mom. He admits to Sharon he’s worried about Matt Clark (Roger Howorth). He said that guy is always in his head. Now Victor claims to have Matt under control, but Nick just wants Matt gone for good.

Y&R Spoilers: Sienna & Matt Clear the Air

And Sharon isn’t happy to have Matt around, but she also doesn’t know what to think because he saved Nick’s life. And then Sharon’s asking if Nick would turn back to drugs to handle Matt. So, while Nick’s promising that he’s not going to let his loved ones down again, the simple fact is he might. So, they head over to see Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) at the Shadow Room.

And coincidentally, that’s where Matt is right now talking to Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) by the end of this week. It’s not some kind of scary conversation, though. Matt is kind of still sorting through the things he did in his past. And Sienna says Matt always wanted both admiration and fear. But Sienna says even when Matt was a jerk, there were still good things about him.

Young and Restless: Matt Opens Up to Sienna — Noah Flips Out

So, he tells Sienna when they first got together, he knows she wanted love from him, but Matt just didn’t have that in him. And he confesses to Sienna he doesn’t trust Victor, doesn’t trust the Newmans, and she wants to know if Matt’s planning something. And nothing nefarious. He tells Sienna that he wants to prove he’s not the man he once was.

And Matt says, you know, he’s middle-aged, but he wants to build a life and he tells Sienna she deserves a good man who is going to love her the right way. So, he’s saying good things, but that’s when Noah walks in and he flies off the handle because Matt’s even talking to Sienna. You know, he’s a hothead like his dad, but it’s understandable how he’s reacting to Matt. So, Noah is yelling about him staying away from Sienna.

And then Matt claps back about Noah trying to tell him and Sienna what to do. That’s another trigger. And Matt says that he and Sienna were having a long overdue conversation that they really needed to have. I think that’s real. So, Matt insists he’s not a psycho and he knows that Noah will never forgive him. But Matt’s a little frustrated and wishes Noah would just let him be and insists that everybody deserves forgiveness.

Y&R: Nick’s Death Threat

And of course that is right when Nick and Sharon walk in. So, they’re barking at Matt not to threaten Noah, which he wasn’t. And then Nick says Matt doesn’t get to demand forgiveness. That’s fair. And then Matt’s telling Nick it’s all pointless and he should just leave town before Victor puts him in the ground and he leaves. So next week on Young and the Restless, Sharon and Nick are still at the Shadow Room. And by then he’s told Sharon that he’s going to take care of Matt.

So, Sharon tells Nick that he’s scaring her a little bit. And Sharon mentions Nick saying that he’s going to make sure Matt’s gone for good. And Sharon is asking Nick, “Tell me that doesn’t mean what I think it does.” So it seems like he’s being hotheaded and he’s making what sounds to Sharon is like a death threat. So Matt’s worried about Victor killing him, but maybe he needs to take a second look at Nick. And this temptation to whack Matt could be what sends Nick crawling back into a pill bottle.

Young and the Restless: Victor & Nikki Have a Really Sweet Moment

Now, let’s talk about Nikki’s big reveal. End of this week, Nikki’s walking around at the new ranch, counting her steps, still with no cane, even on the stairs. What is wrong with these people? So, Victor’s helping her get down off the stairs, and Nikki says she needs to know that she can get around by herself, but she understands everybody wants to help. So, Victor leads her to the sofa, tells Nikki he knows she can do anything. Victor’s being really sweet, gets her a blanket, asks if she’s nervous about getting her bandages off the next day. Nikki says she’s trying to prepare for any possible result, even a really bad one.

And she tells Victor she just doesn’t want to feel defeated, no matter the outcome, even if her vision isn’t back, even if it’s gone for good. Then Nikki tells Victor that she misses them and she wants to know if he’s ready to talk about their future. He assures Nikki that she’s safe, but she says she’s angrier at Victor than she ever has been before. So, Nikki asks if Victor’s hate for Jack is stronger than his love for her. Uh, well, Nikki, I can answer that for you.

Yeah, Victor’s hate outweighs his love across the board. That is quite evident because he’s still doing horrible things to people instead of appreciating what he has, Nikki and the kids and his health. So Nikki burst into tears. Victor actually seems ready to cry, too. What’s clear to me is if Nikki didn’t have this life or death, I guess blind or seeing, medical crisis, I don’t think she would have gone back to Victor. This is fear driving her choices. I think I’m honestly still rooting for Nikki to walk away from Victor.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) - Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland)Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) - Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland)
Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nick Newman – Traci Abbott

Y&R Spoilers: Moment of Truth for Nikki

So next week, Young and the Restless spoilers have Nikki at the doctor’s office and Victor’s there holding her hand. The doctor removes Nikki’s bandages and then he tells her it’s time to open her eyes. So, next week, Victor and Nikki and the viewers are all going to find out if she has her vision back. And now, the last spoiler tidbit for next week is one that I’m super excited about. You remember Diane is worried because Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns), who had that big crush on Diane, is MIA. He dropped off the radar after Patty was arrested. And I think Markham realized the jig was up.

So, next week’s spoilers have Diane talking to Traci about getting in touch with Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) the sociopathic evil twin of Dr. Alan Laurent (also Christopher Cousins). So if you remember, he kidnapped and tormented Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Sharon. And at the same time, he was romancing Traci who believed he was good twin Alan.

Young and Restless Spoilers: Traci Takes a Big Risk

So, Traci’s shocked and she wants to know why Diane wants to talk to Martin. And it’s because Diane thinks Martin might know how to find Dr. Markham. If you remember, he had a ton of psychology books that were written by Dr. Alan Laurent. And that was of course who Martin pretended to be. So maybe Alan and Markham were colleagues or know each other.

So, Traci tells Diane next week that Martin won’t talk to her. Last we heard he was locked up. Hopefully he still is. But Traci admits that Martin might talk to her instead, even if he won’t talk to Diane. So, it looks like Traci is going to make a shocking choice and she’s going to gamble and try and get the answers that Diane needs. I feel like it’s pretty risky.

I think it’ll be hard on Traci to face the man that lied to her, made her fall in love with him, and then turned out to be a horrible liar. Martin crushed Traci and it’s been more than a year since she’s seen that terrible man. Be sure to come back tomorrow for our full weekly spoilers video. Check out our weekly prediction edition coming this weekend. Two week spoilers and lots more right here at Soap Dirt.

Bold and Beautiful: Daphne & Carter’s Miracle Baby News – Their Dream Family Finally Begins

Published

on

Bold and the Beautiful: Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) - Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor)

Bold and the Beautiful has poor Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) and Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) absolutely devastated over the news of Daphne’s infertility that’s caused by early menopause. However, I suspect Carter and Daphne are still going to get the family that they want.

It’s just that the road isn’t going to be quite so easy for them. We’re going to talk about how Carter and Daphne will get their miracle baby that completes their lives and makes all their dreams come true.

Bold and the Beautiful: Daphne’s Heartbreaking Diagnosis

So, this week we saw Dr. Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) break Daphne’s heart. That stunning early menopause diagnosis hit her so hard. Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) was there with her bestie and consoled her, but that didn’t change the dire outlook as Daphne saw her baby dreams crushed. And when Carter asked Daphne how the appointment went, he immediately could tell that something was wrong.

And then she had to break Carter’s heart with this terrible news. So, Daphne was in tears and then Carter was sobbing. It was really hard to watch, especially if you’ve gone through infertility. I’ve been there. I know some of you all have. But one thing is clear, Daphne and Carter are in this together and are very supportive of each other. They’re just shell shocked right now.

Daphne & Carter Won’t Give Up on B&B

But very soon, I feel like Carter and Daphne are going to explore how to start their family, even with the odds stacked against them. So, I expect a baby miracle coming for them pretty soon. Not right away, but pretty soon. One option that seems definitely on the table is Steffy may offer Daphne one or two or three of her frozen eggs. And with that and Carter’s sperm, they could have a baby that’s at least half theirs biologically.

And even with premature menopause, Daphne could still carry that baby. So with Steffy’s egg, they could do IVF and implant the embryo into Daphne. So they could still have the whole pregnancy experience together. She and Carter could feel their baby growing inside Daphne, and Carter could be right there with her through all the doctor visits, the labor, and Daphne could give birth to their child. That is a very viable option.

And when Steffy first mentioned to Daphne that she’d frozen some of her eggs, she kind of snapped at Steffy, “That’s great for you, but they’re not my eggs.” Daphne wants a biological kid. But I don’t think Steffy would bring it up for no reason when I don’t remember it ever being mentioned before on B&B. Maybe I’ve forgotten, but I don’t remember a whole egg freezing thing.

Bold and Beautiful: Surrogacy and Adoption Options for Daphne and Carter

Another option to get Carter and Daphne’s baby dream going is that they can opt to find a surrogate. Maybe even one that would offer a donor egg. Somebody like Melissa Dylan (Sydney Bullock). I think she would be a good option for Daphne and Carter. I mean, we all know Dylan’s a sweetheart. Plus, she’s young. She’s healthy. That all matters and she is broke as heck and that kind of thing pays very well and Carter and Daphne can definitely afford to hire a surrogate and they might want to use somebody close to them like Dylan.

That way Carter and Daphne could be very involved with the pregnancy. They could go to the doctor appointments, all of that. It’d be the next best thing if for some reason Daphne can’t carry the child herself or doesn’t want to. Dylan enjoyed being an art teacher. We know she likes kids and I think she’d be very sympathetic to what they’re going through and they could use Carter’s sperm and either Dylan’s egg or an egg from Steffy or an anonymous donor egg. You know, Carter and Daphne might prefer an African-American egg donor.

Electra is a Possibility on B&B but a Real Long Shot

Another option, which seems like an impossible long shot, is to use another surrogate, somebody else they know, Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace). She is young, she’s healthy, and she’s close to them. However, I do not see Will Spencer‘s (Crew Morrow) ex as the self-sacrificing type. Electra is honestly a baby herself most days. And with the way she’s running around creating drama, imagine if Daphne and Carter trusted Electra with their family’s future and all they got from her was non-stop whine pout baby mama drama.

Plus, with the Spencer versus Forrester storyline and Will versus R.J. Forrester (Brayan Nicoletti), I kind of doubt that they would push Electra into Carter and Daphne’s storyline. Being a part of all that would just be too much. Also, Electra is honestly so selfish. I don’t think she thinks about anybody but herself. That’s what we’re seeing with Will. So, I don’t think she would be generous enough to step up and do something so kind for Daphne and Carter.

Bold and the Beautiful: Daphne & Carter May Go a Different Route

However, they could also decide to avoid involving anybody they know if they went the surrogate route. Daphne and Carter might hire a surrogate that they don’t know, go through an agency, you know, use his sperm, use the surrogate’s egg or a donor egg, and just realize they’re going to have to settle for not being as involved as they want until their baby is born. Another option to get Carter and Daphne the child they want is for them to adopt.

I mean, come on. There’s so many children in the United States, around the world, who need a good home, and a child would be lucky to be adopted by Carter and Daphne. And in fact, Zende Forrester (Delon de Metz) might encourage them to consider going this route. If you remember his backstory, his parents died of AIDS. I think they were Somalian, maybe. It’s been a minute. And Eric Forrester’s (John McCook) daughter, Kristen Forrester, met young orphan Zende when she was on her honeymoon.

And then she and her husband Tony came back to adopt him. Plus, Steffy has also adopted a baby. Now, unfortunately, that was Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) and Hope Logan’s (Annika Noelle) stolen baby Beth Spencer (Jordan Ariza), and she had to give the kid back. But there’s adoption history in the Forrester family on Bold and the Beautiful.

And I’m sure that Daphne and Carter could easily be approved for an adoption. That way, they could, you know, show that they provide a loving home, that they’re financially stable. That’s all important stuff. And I think Daphne and Carter will give any child a wonderful life and they could even adopt more than one child because they want a big family.

Bold and the Beautiful: Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) - Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor)Bold and the Beautiful: Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) - Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor)
Bold and the Beautiful: Daphne Rose – Carter Walton

Bold and Beautiful: Daphne & Carter May Get a True Miracle

So, Daphne’s family dreams could come true that way. However, because she wants to have a biological child with Carter, IVF and surrogacy, you know, one of those two seem a lot more likely, but there’s always another option for them to have a baby. The last thing I want to talk about is that Daphne and Carter might get a true miracle baby. I’m sure they’re still going to keep making love.

So, there’s a chance Daphne could get pregnant naturally. There’s actually a 5 to 12 percent chance with this diagnosis of a spontaneous pregnancy even with this early menopause. So, while Daphne and Carter are considering what other options are available to them, you know, Daphne could turn up pregnant out of the blue.

Daphne May Still Get Her Wish on Bold

Also, with this condition she has, the women often have what’s called intermittent ovarian activity. Basically, Daphne’s ovaries might wake up and work now and then. They just don’t work consistently and without the stress of actively trying to get pregnant with Carter’s child and going through the monthly disappointment.

That could really help if you’ve not been through it. Infertility is extremely stressful. And if Daphne thinks, okay, I can’t make a baby that way. I think that stress might be alleviated. And you know, because taking a pregnancy test every month and then being devastated when it comes up negative over and over, that’s horrible.

And studies show that stress reduction improves fertility with this condition. So, I do hope Carter and Daphne can get their own biological child even if it’s just a one-off and they only get one baby that way. You know, one miracle baby might be enough for Carter and Daphne.

Or they could get a miracle baby for kid number one and then turn to other options like IVF or surrogacy or adoption to expand their family from there. What I really hope is that this incredibly touching storyline doesn’t get shoved aside for more of the Forresters and Spencers don’t mix junk that we’ve got right now.

The Sci-Fi Mind-Bender On Hulu Is The Most Original Time Travel Movie In Years

Published

on

aporia

By Chris Snellgrove
| Published

aporia

For sci-fi fans, there’s something ironic about time travel movies: after you watch enough of them, you may feel caught in your own time loop because all of the films feel more or less the same. That’s why it’s always special to discover a movie that feels fresh and original, and if you’ve been on the lookout for a time travel movie that feels completely innovative, you’re in luck. Aporia is now streaming on Hulu, and its fresh take on someone turning back the clock is one that will keep you riveted from beginning to end.

Time Travel, As Always, Yields Mixed Results

What is Aporia about, exactly? Without giving too many of its twists and turns away, this is a movie about a woman grieving the death of her husband. He was killed by a drunk driver, but through the magic of time travel, she has the opportunity to save his life–a noble intention that, as you might expect, unleashes some seriously unintended consequences for herself and many others.

What makes Aporia’s take on time travel feel so fresh, though? Unlike most other science fiction films where characters attempt to alter the past, the grieving widow is unable to personally transport herself back through the veil of years. Instead, she has the opportunity to send a subatomic particle backwards to a specific point in time, and if that particle should appear inside somebody, they will instantly die.

For all intents and purposes, this gives her an opportunity to send a sci-fi bullet into the past and kill the man who killed her husband before he drunkenly steps behind the wheel. That automatically makes Aporia much darker than your typical time travel movie, but by the time she’s ready to pull the trigger, it’s hard not to sympathize with her actions. Once we see that the drunk driver both feels no remorse and experiences no major legal consequences for his fatally negligent actions, it’s clear that zapping him out of the timestream may be the closest thing the widow gets to seeing justice.

Familiar Faces To Sci-Fi Fans

We keep comparing Aporia to other sci-fi movies, and if you’re a fan of the genre, you’re definitely going to love the cast. The widow is played by Judy Greer, someone known for appearing in sci-fi blockbusters like Ant-Man, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (voice only), and many more. The dead husband she hopes to save is played by Edi Gathegi, someone known for appearing in the killer sci-fi show For All Mankind, playing the mutant Darwin in X-Men: First Class, and, more recently, Mister Terrific in James Gunn’s Superman, the film that launched the new DCU.

In case you were wondering, we’re not the only ones who instantly fell in love with Aporia. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently has a critical rating of 91 percent, a score which is that much more impressive when you consider how critics often can’t wrap their minds around science fiction. In this case, critics specifically praised Aporia for effortlessly blending its hard sci-fi premise with understandably human motivations and almost heartbreakingly emotional performances.

Once you experience Aporia, the only downside is that you’ll wish you could travel back in time and watch it again for the very first time. It’s currently available to stream on Hulu, and we’re confident that once you stream it, this film will blow you away. On the off chance that it doesn’t, however, we’re going to need you to promise not to blow us away with a subatomic particle. We’d at least like enough time to recommend it to somebody else first.
