The Only Movie That Put Me To Sleep In A Theater Is Now On Netflix

By Jonathan Klotz

Everyone loves dinosaurs. Everyone loves Jeff Goldblum. Everyone loves dinosaurs with Jeff Goldblum. It should be a simple formula, and yet 2021’s Jurassic World: Dominion managed to fumble the return of Jurassic Park’s trio with a ludicrous plot, dull set pieces, and managed to avoid addressing the ending of Fallen Kingdom. The cool ending with the dinosaurs starting to repopulate around the world? The one that had you pumped for the next Jurassic World movie? Replaced with a story about genetically modified locusts that’s so exciting I fell asleep in the theater the first time I watched it.

Rise Of The Mutant Locusts

Not Seen In This Picture: Dinosaurs

Other films have almost put me to sleep, including, ironically, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland and the Ryan Reynolds/Denzel Washington film Safe House, but none have knocked me out like Jurassic World: Dominion. I made it to Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Satler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) running around a biotech facility and then woke up to the credits. The plot has none of the tension of the first four films, the dinosaurs feel like a minor nuisance, and the two generations of Jurassic characters are kept separated for 90 percent of the film. It takes one hour and 45 minutes for Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Alan Grant to finally meet.

Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, And Laura Dern Returned For Jurassic World: Dominion

After Jurassic World turned the theme park of the original into a reality, and Fallen Kingdom became a haunted house horror for its third act, Dominion’s reliance on a Biosyn facility for the final act was a huge step back. Owen and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), sneaking into a black market auction for dinosaurs, would be fun, except again, that was seen in the previous movie. There’s nothing here that the same stars, same director (Colin Trevorrow), and same writer (also Colin Trevorrow) hadn’t done before, but better.

Dinosaurs Are Awesome

I did enjoy Jurassic World: Dominion significantly more the second time around on Netflix. Part of that is my expectations were tempered, and the other is that my cat (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)  never lets me fall asleep on the couch. The streaming experience allowed me to appreciate the old guard slipping into their roles like a well-used pair of pants, and Isabella Sermon, who plays the genetically altered Maisie, more than holds her own alongside the cadre of established stars.

Though Jurassic World: Dominion was filmed during the COVID pandemic, and it has the hallmarks of those productions, namely the complete lack of extras during the third act, the actual story, the weakest part of the film, was solidified long before the pandemic hit. Trevorrow’s original vision, available on the Blu-Ray as an extended cut, includes more dinosaurs and more backstory. That cut isn’t available on Netflix, which is a shame, as the one thing the dinosaur movie needed was more dinosaurs.

Jurassic World: Dominion is the weakest of the franchise, and yet it still earned a billion dollars a the box office. When the worst film of a series sets records and is still a decent film, if you go in with the right expectations, that says something about the overall quality of Jurassic Park. Or it could just be that dinosaurs are awesome. Jurassic World: Dominion, and the rest of the Jurassic World series, including Jurassic World: Rebirth, are now available to stream on Netflix.

We’ll get a new face for Rachel fairly soon? Alice Halsey wrapped her run on March 4th with no character exit. But meanwhile, we have Melinda dropping a package into the mail to Rachel. Will someone open it and find the skin supplements and pass them onto Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis)?

Stephanie and Jeremy should be saved from Owen soon—or make a getaway. Lots of people will have to apologize to Jeremy. But Stephanie has already sincerely apologized. Lexie’s awake but will she recognize her family and friends immediately or have some of the side effects of prior resurrections? Memory loss?

Remember they brainwashed Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash), hopefully EJ didn’t do that with his sister Lexie. Stephanie’s going to be dealing with post-kidnap trauma that Jeremy may be the best person to help her through since he was there.

With Alex’s baby mama Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) returning on the way back, this could get messy soon. EJ’s feelings for Cat intensify. More on Leo and Dimitri’s Alamanian adventure.

The Buffy Episode That Secretly Fixed The Show’s Most Frustrating Mistake

The Buffy Episode That Secretly Fixed The Show’s Most Frustrating Mistake

By Chris Snellgrove
| Published

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of those shows I have watched until nearly every frame is burned into my brain. That’s because the series is borderline perfect: it features a killer premise, brilliant actors, and some of the best writing in television history. Even with the excellent writing, however, there are occasional mistakes that, once you notice them, will bother you forever.

For example, when Angel loses his soul and becomes evil, he wrecks Jenny Calendar’s computer, ostensibly destroying the information on how to restore his soul. However, all we see onscreen is the vampire destroying her computer monitor, which geeks like Willow know is not where the information is stored. Fortunately, season 2’s 19th episode, “I Only Have Eyes for You” fixes this mistake, revealing that Willow was still able to get information off Calendar’s computer and that the non-tech-savvy Angel didn’t really know what he was doing.

Breaking Vlad

Part of what made Buffy the Vampire Slayer so effective is that the show explored the real threats faced by young people through a fantasy lens. For example, countless young women have had the negative experience of a boy turning into a jerk after they have sex. But it was so much worse for Buffy: after she and Angel did the nasty, he lost his soul, becoming the scariest vampire of the modern age.

Once he became Angelus, this violent vamp didn’t want to simply kill Buffy: instead, he wanted to torment her by torturing and killing her friends. In “Passion,” he really takes this malevolence to the next level by killing Jenny Calendar and displaying her body for Giles to find when he shows up for a date. He initially attacks her at the school, where Angel takes the time to destroy the computer containing instructions for restoring his soul.

Talk About A Firewall

At least, that’s his goal: while he comments on how far technology has advanced, he slams her computer monitor to the ground, damaging it before setting it on fire. It makes for a very scary moment, one that underscores how horrifying it is for this teacher to be attacked in her own classroom by a ruthless vampire. But what always frustrated me as a young nerd was that “Passion” implies that Angel successfully destroys the information on the PC, which is absurd: destroying a computer monitor (even a chunky ‘90s monitor) would do nothing to actually destroy all of the information in the hard drive, housed safely in the undamaged body of the PC.

Fortunately, the later episode “I Only Have Eyes For You” fixed this mistake, though this was likely by accident. In the wake of Jenny Calendar’s death, Willow (her star pupil) becomes the new computer science teacher. When Giles comments on how well the young student has adapted to teaching, Willow points out that she had access to “good lesson plans…Ms. Calendar had them on her computer.” Furthermore, she also “found a bunch of files and Internet sites on paganism and magic and stuff.”

Finally, A Good Retcon

From a narrative standpoint, this helps to set up later plot points, including Willow discovering how to restore Angel’s soul (Calendar kept the spell on a floppy disk) and her eventually becoming a full-fledged witch. However, this throwaway line also confirms that Angel’s attempt to destroy the teacher’s computer and all of the information on it was a complete bust. That may seem disappointing, but it makes sense: the centuries-old vampire has never been good with technology, so it makes sense that he would just destroy the biggest, most visible part of the computer without realizing he’s damaging the wrong thing.

As all Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans know, “Passion” is a killer episode, one filled with high emotion, crazy action, and the unforgettable death of a major character. For this fan, though, the episode’s implication that destroying a computer monitor would affect the hard drive. While it would take the Scoobies a little while longer to figure out how to restore Angel’s soul, “I Only Have Eyes For You” managed to restore something else entirely: my faith in the writers!

3 Best Shows To Watch on Netflix This Week

Published

on

Cast photo of Grey's Anatomy

Bridgerton‘s chokehold over the U.S. Netflix charts is starting to fade. At the end of last month, the second half of Season 4 delivered a whirlwind of romance and scandal, as the will-they/won’t-they drama between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek’s (Yerin Ha) concluded in unmissable fashion. At the time of writing, the beloved period drama has dropped to third in the charts and has been overtaken by a pair of docuseries, with Spain’s The TikTok Killer and The Dinosaurs taking the top two spots. If docuseries aren’t your thing and you’re finished with Bridgerton, here’s a list of three other shows you should give a try on Netflix this week.

For more recommendations, check out our list of the best shows and movies on Netflix.

Disclaimer: These titles are available on US Netflix.

1

‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’ (2019–Present)

Rotten Tomatoes: 62% | IMDb: 8.5/10

Last weekend, the 2026 Formula 1 season began in earnest, as the Australian Grand Prix kicked off at Albert Park in Melbourne. With one of the biggest events on the sporting calendar having just premiered, now is the perfect time to watch Netflix’s beloved docuseries, Formula 1: Drive to Survive. The series captures the euphoria and heartache ingrained in the FIA Formula One World Championship across multiple seasons.

Many fiction series aim to craft pulse-racing tension and unmissable drama, leaving you gripping to the edge of your armchair. However, you simply can’t beat the raw tension created by high-octane sports, and they don’t come much more high-octane than Formula 1. Add to that smart editing and emotional cinematography, and a recipe for binge-worthy television is born.

2

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ (2005–Present)

Rotten Tomatoes: 84% | IMDb: 7.6/10

Sometimes, you can’t beat the best, and Grey’s Anatomy is arguably the greatest medical drama of all time. Following the revolving door of patients and professionals inside the walls of the fictional Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, Grey’s Anatomy centers on a new batch of interns and their supervisors, led by surgical intern Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).

One of the most popular shows on television that has impressively maintained a large fanbase after more than two decades, there’s never a dull moment on Grey’s Anatomy. Sadly, a rewatch of the series is now made even more emotional and poignant following the death of Eric Dane following his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

3

‘The Staircase’ (2022)

Rotten Tomatoes: 92% | IMDb: 7.1/10

If you love true crime but want something fictional this week, don’t miss out on HBO’s The Staircase. Based on the 2004 true crime docuseries of the same name, the series follows Colin Firth‘s convicted murderer, Michael Peterson, after he is charged following the death of his wife, Kathleen (Toni Collette), who was found dead at the bottom of their titular staircase.

Firth and Collette are two of the best actors working today, and they make for a perfect pairing in The Staircase. So great that they both earned Primetime Emmy nominations for their work, these performances alone would make The Staircase worth watching. Add to that a truly gripping tale told in eight easily binged episodes, and your week’s viewing is sorted.

Young and Restless 2-Week Spoilers March 9-20: Victor Plans Deadly Move & Diane Spirals into Panic!

Published

on

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) - Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters)

Young and the Restless two-week spoilers for March 9th through the 20th bring intrigue as Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is being murderous and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) panicking. Let’s dive into what’s coming up in Genoa City.

Young and the Restless Spoilers Monday, March 9th: Phyllis Confronts Victor About Jack’s Kidnapping

On Monday, March 9th, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) rants at Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) for interrupting her reunion with Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei). He wants Phyllis to sign Chancellor over to him ASAP because Victor kidnapped Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and says if he doesn’t give Chancellor back, they’ll never see Jack again. Phyllis thinks Victor is bluffing like he did with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and the twins.

But Billy reminds Phyllis how much Victor hates Jack. Phyllis thinks caving to Victor is a bad idea. Billy demands she make it happen and Phyllis tells Billy don’t threaten her. But Phyllis heads to see Victor and asks if Victor really abducted Jack.

Victor says that’s between him and Billy. Phyllis says she owns Chancellor and doesn’t think he’ll hurt Jack but Victor says doubting him is dangerous and repeats the threat about no one seeing Jack again. Phyllis wants Jack, Lily and twins for Chancellor. Victor doesn’t trust and says he’ll get back to her.

Billy tells Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Diane he gave Phyllis an ultimatum about Chancellor. Diane’s angry that Phyllis is risking Jack’s life. Diane’s scared he’s in danger and Billy hates Victor getting anything back. But Kyle and Diane tell Billy that Jack’s life is more important than Chancellor. Billy demands proof of life from Victor and gets a photo of unconscious Jack.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Adam & Chelsea Contemplate Their Futures

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) talk over dinner about being unemployed. She hopes Victor gets the whole empire back but doesn’t think he will. And she tells Adam the Newman Media website is forwarding to Spectra-Charles. They can’t believe Phyllis actually beat Victor.

Jack’s astonished he’s on a yacht with crazy Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) who insists she’s sane and rehabilitated. She tells Jack they’re alone on a lake nowhere for him to run. Patty knows he’s back with Diane and Patty’s flirty, wants a hookup, tells him to open his heart, but Jack refuses.

He also refuses food and drinks worried they’re drugged. Patty tells him she’s not the one calling the shots when Jack asks for a tour of the boat. Patty wants a kiss in exchange for a tour and Jack agrees.

Y&R Spoilers: Tuesday, March 10th: Diane and Kyle Investigate

On Tuesday, March 10th, Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) has got a hard choice to make. About Michael Baldwin (Christian Jules Leblanc) and Victor or maybe Phyllis. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is oblivious that Victor’s keeping a secret from her.

Diane and Kyle investigate searching for a lead to find Jack. Diane and Kyle are with Billy who says it could be a wild goose chase, but Kyle says it could be the lead they need to find Jack. Bottom line, Diane says it’s the only lead they have so they have to follow it.

Young and the Restless Spoilers Wednesday, March 11th: Nikki Puts the Pieces Together

On Wednesday, March 11th, Nikki puts the pieces together about Jack’s disappearance. Likely she’ll figure out Victor did it. This week, Nikki and Phyllis bicker at Society. Nikki might ask Phyllis about the abduction—or it may be her dropping clues to Nikki about what Victor’s done.

Diane loses it with Phyllis because Diane believes Phyllis is putting Jack’s life at risk. I suspect Phyllis to set things straight and tell Diane she already went to Victor to make a deal to get Jack back.

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) ask Adam for help, likely about Matt Clark (Roger Howarth). Chelsea’s there too—some strategizing.

Thursday, March 12th: Sienna Takes Steps to Stop Matt on Y&R

On Thursday, March 12th, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) defends Victor’s actions. Victoria seems to condone Victor’s extreme measures of getting their family legacy back. Victoria’s a lot like her father.

Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) tells Sharon and Nick, she appreciates and owes them for protecting her from Matt so, Sienna took steps to eliminate the threat of Matt. Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) is disturbed by what he hears from Sienna. Nick gets important news from Adam. Likely about Matt—Adam may find out Matt’s location.

Friday, March 13th: Victor and Nikki Reach a Breaking Point

On Friday, March 13th, Victor and Nikki reach a breaking point. Victor kidnapping Jack might be the last straw for Nikki and her being upset that something happened to Jack and her questioning him will infuriate Victor on Young and the Restless.

Lily is back—did Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) bring her back or did she come on her own? Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) hopes to make amends with Lily. Jack falls into Patty’s trap. Will Jack give Patty her kiss and then she demands more?

Week Two of Young and the Restless Spoilers: March 16th-20th Spoilers

During the second week, Cane may be hurt that Lily conspired with Victor. Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) plays Kyle. She and Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) have a scheme going where she seduces Kyle to break him and Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) and for Audra to prove she can get Kyle.

Holden’s determined to get Claire back and hopes Audra can make it happen. Victor stands by his decision to kidnap Jack—he’s got zero remorse and this leaves his marriage to Nikki hanging by a thread. Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) faces consequences soon of the kidnapping. Mental hospital ahead? Maybe they’ll have Patty locked up in a psych ward by then too.

Big final boss battle showdown with Matt coming soon. The Abbotts are still desperate to find Jack as he tries to fend off and outmaneuver Patty. Claire may snap when she finds out Audra is scheming again and go after her. Phyllis keeps trying to get her kids to forgive her. Maybe her offering Chancellor to Victor will work a charm. Unless they try and blame it all on Phyllis.

Here’s Why Chris Brown’s Comment To A TikToker Who Posted A Clip About Looking Like Karrueche Tran Has Social Media Users Dropping Side-Eyes

As The Shade Room previously reported, last month, Chris Brown made headlines after Diamond Brown, the mother of his youngest daughter, Lovely Brown, shared a post, telling him to leave her alone and worry about his “new baby on the way.” Prior to this, fans had been speculating about Chris’ apparent boo, Jada Wallace, being pregnant.

Ultimately, Diamond accused Chris of harassing her and her new romances, and Jada clapped back, accusing Diamond of keeping Lovely away from Chris and of dating his friends. Additionally, Chris also seemingly reacted to Diamond, but said he wouldn’t be playing “internet games.” Ultimately, neither he nor Jada Wallace confirmed or denied the pregnancy allegation.

Since then, Diamond has seemingly revealed the gender of Chris’s alleged “baby on the way,” while also hinting that she may have more tea to spill about Chris. Still, the internet remains on its toes to see if the singer and Jada Wallace will be welcoming a new addition into their circle.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) - Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan)

Bold and the Beautiful two-week spoilers for March 9th – 20th thrill as Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) is raging and Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) frustrated. Let’s dive into what’s coming up in Los Angeles.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers Monday, March 9th: Steffy Busts Taylor and Deacon

On Monday, March 9th, Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer) warns Dylan (Sydney Bullock) not to blab what she knows about Ivy meddling with Will Spencer (Crew Morrow) and Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace). Electra urges Will to be honest and tell her if he ever crossed the line with Dylan.

Electra is given disruptive info. Will’s pretty honest and may tell the truth about the kiss. Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) busts Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) and Deacon. Picking up from Friday’s episode.

B&B Spoilers: Steffy Lays Down the Law with Taylor & Deacon

At Taylor’s office, she and Deacon look worried as Steffy goes off on them. She rants to Deacon that he and Taylor are over and Steffy’s adamant Deacon can’t see Taylor anymore. Deacon explains to Steffy how much he loves Taylor. And Steffy says she’s proud of Deacon for turning his life around—for his success with Il Giardino. Steffy says he’s a great father and granddad.

But Steffy says Deacon made one foolish move when he married Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) and that’s why he needs to stay away from Taylor. Then Steffy says they can have one last moment alone to say goodbye but insists they’re done today. She leaves Taylor and Deacon alone and they kiss. I think they’re far from done.

Bold Spoilers Tuesday, March 10th: Katie and Bill Reject the Olive Branch

On Tuesday, March 10th, Dylan confides in Deke Sharpe (Harrison Cone). She may tell her about her feelings for Will and that they kissed. Katie Logan (Heather Tom) and Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) want nothing to do with Brooke Logan and Ridge Forrester‘s (Thorsten Kaye) olive branch. Katie and Bill are over at Ridge and Brooke’s place for the world’s most awkward double date night on Bold and the Beautiful.

Wednesday, March 11th: Dylan Joins Forrester Creations

On Wednesday, March 11th, Steffy tells Dylan she’s not going to let her go and Steffy welcomes her to Forrester Creations. Dylan happily accepts Steffy’s offer to take a job at Forrester Creations. Brooke, Ridge, Katie, and Bill have dinner at Brooke’s house trying to negotiate when Ridge yells and scares the caterer causing Bill to complain that there is no dessert now.

Ridge flies off the handle when Bill puts his foot down. He may try and claim Eric Forrester‘s (John McCook) designs for Forrester Creations but Logan already put them into production and paid for them. Eric reconnects with RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman). At the mansion or at Forrester Creations?

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers Thursday, March 12th: Electra Unhappy About Dylan’s News

On Thursday, March 12th, Electra’s unhappy to hear Dylan’s news. I’m sure this is about her working at Forrester Creations. Katie’s on the defensive with Brooke. About launching Logan and also likely about producing Eric’s designs.

In the lead up to Logan’s big press conference and launch, Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) is at the Spencer Publications offices chatting up Dottie (Morgan Fairchild) and her assistant Joseph (Jim J. Bullock).

B&B Spoilers Friday, March 13th: Logan Makes Its Big Debut

On Friday, March 13th, this week, Katie tells Bill the designs are Eric’s, but Bill says they’re hers, they’re producing the line. So, Katie and Bill get going with Eric’s designs. Katie makes her way down the runway and Bill says, there’s a new name in LA fashion—Logan!

Katie takes the stage and speaks at Logan’s debut fashion show. There’s models, dresses made from Eric’s designs—a big deal. Then, Bill and Katie’s press conference is interrupted by Brooke and Ridge.

Week Two: March 16th-20th Spoilers on Bold and the Beautiful

During the second week, Katie and Bill deal with the fallout from the press conference and what Ridge and Brooke did. Ridge fumes over Bill and Katie using Eric’s designs. Tensions escalate between Bill, Katie, Ridge, and Brooke after the fashion show.

Eric will have an opinion on the press conference and designs but does he show up to the press conference? Electra stresses over Dylan coming to work at Forrester Creations. Will she try and get Steffy to take it back? Ivy and Dylan butt heads.

RJ keeps pursuing Electra. Things may get ugly with Will and RJ. Things are awkward for Will at Forrester Creations and after recent brawls between Spencers and Logans, will he quit? Steffy doubles down to make sure Deacon stays away from Taylor.

Taylor and Deacon are miserable without each other—how long can they resist? Bold and the Beautiful spoiler promises in March, a couple makes love for first time—my money’s on them.
