Melissa Rivers on Who Wowed and ‘Disappointed’ at 2026 Oscars
The Oscars may celebrate standout films, but the red carpet is always a trend-setting style spectacle.
Former Fashion Police star Melissa Rivers brought her signature expertise while sounding off about the sartorial hits and misses exclusively to Us Weekly hours after the A-listers gathered at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 15.
Melissa — daughter of the late Joan Rivers — gave a gold star to Rose Byrne, who dazzled in an “absolutely breathtaking” Dior number by Jonathan Anderson. The strapless gown featured flowers embroidered along the bodice and hem as well as an elegant train.
Bryne, 46, opted for a bold red lip and accessorized with a “beautiful” Taffin choker necklace by James de Givenchy, which Melissa loved because it didn’t “overpower the dress.”
She also gave high praise to Teyana Taylor, who stole the show in a black-and-white crystal-embroidered Chanel gown with a sheer panel that exposed her washboard abs, while it was covered in dramatic feathers from the hips down.
“She actually looks like she’s having fun on the carpets and saving the best for last,” Melissa, 58, told Us, noting that Taylor, 35, likely wanted to wrap up awards season with something unforgettable.

Speaking about Byrne and Taylor at the 98th Academy Awards, Melissa admitted, “You can’t even say which is better, it’s 1A and 1B. You know, we’re gonna have to put them alphabetically, cause that’s how tight it is.”
Melissa also credited Gwyneth Paltrow with delivering a “movie star” moment when she hit the scene in a strapless ivory silk Giorgio Armani Privé gown that had a super-high slit with a sheer sparkling fabric underneath.
“Minimal, chic, and then sideways … holy cow,” Melissa told Us, adding, “It was amazing.”
Melissa pointed out that it was a “big night for Chanel” as Jessie Buckley served up her own iconic look in what the brand described as a “a light pink bustier chiffon dress with a red satin leather stole.”
As for the fashion looks that missed the mark, Melissa told Us she didn’t issue any citations but did have “disappointments” — and from “two women who I, nine times out of 10, love.”

“These hit me a little bit hard,” she admitted, revealing the first was Elle Fanning who wore custom Givenchy by Sarah Burton. “She’s done the same look basically all through award season, and I felt like she looked washed out,” Melissa said.
The New York Times best-selling author noted that Fanning, 27, is such a “fashionista,” but this time, “You disappointed me, because I expect so much from you.”
Melissa said the other was Kirsten Dunst, who donned a structural tiered dress.
The style expert told Us, “She was wearing Celine, which is currently one of my favorite designers, and I felt like the dress just didn’t work.”
“I think it was the proportions,” Melissa said. “I don’t know, it just fell flat.”

Sci-Fi Icon Jerry O’Connell Admits To Physical Abuse By His Wife And Daughters Over His Politics
By Henry Hards
| Updated

Beloved and affable actor Jerry O’Connell appeared on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast this weekend, where he revealed he was physically assaulted by his wife and two 17-year-old daughters after making a negative comment about Kamala Harris. It happened on the night of Donald Trump’s victory over Harris, while watching election returns with his family.
As O’Connell tells it, he’s a lifelong liberal who voted for Kamala Harris. However, when the returns started coming in, and it became clear Trump would win, he said of Kamala Harris: “There was no planning. This is what they get. There should have been a primary.”
According to Jerry, at this moment, his two 17-year-old daughters and his wife, actress and model Rebecca Romijn, assaulted him. He says, “My wife and daughters, without saying anything, became physical with me. They were filled with rage.”
He went on to paint a picture of a world where he lives in daily terror of saying the wrong thing, suggesting that this wasn’t an isolated incident. Jerry explained, “So if I am being careful with you in how I say things, I live with not one, not two, but three people who, if I made any kind of joke, they’d become very angry with me, you know?”
The interview went on, but Jerry kept making sad references to what seems like a difficult home life. Though he doesn’t use drugs himself, he admitted that his wife has to vape before she’ll be intimate with him. He explained, “The only time my wife finds me appealing, is intimate with me… the only time my wife, what’s the word, touches me, is if my wife takes a hit off that pen.”

Jerry O’Connell is a bona fide geek icon. He starred in the cult-hit kid superhero show My Secret Identity in the late 80s, led the beloved multiverse-hopping series Sliders in the 1990s, and, in recent years, starred as the voice of Commander Ransom on the best of the modern Star Trek shows, Lower Decks.
He has millions of fans who want nothing but the best for him, and if his story is true, it sounds like his life may be in turmoil. No one should suffer abuse of any kind, from their family or anyone else, for the things they say.

NBC’s 13M Viewers Sleeper Hit Is Officially a Reminder That Hits Don’t Have To Be Sci-Fi
The boom of the Peak TV era has left viewers with more options than ever before when it comes to small-screen viewing. With so much to choose from — and so many different platforms to peruse — it’s becoming increasingly difficult for networks to break out with a bona fide hit. Streamers tend to have the flashier, higher-budget shows that can entice viewers with bold premises and expansive genre worlds. Many of the biggest television hits of the past several years — Stranger Things, The Last of Us, Andor — have been sci-fi epics belonging to established properties. However, the recent success of NBC‘s new comedy The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins proves classic network sitcoms still have staying power.
‘The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins’ Premiere Scored Huge Viewership Numbers
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is NBC’s highest-profile new show of the current TV season, backed by a number of big-name creatives. It stars Tracy Morgan as the titular character, a disgraced former NFL star who seeks redemption and a place in the Hall of Fame. To achieve that, he hires Oscar-winning filmmaker Arthur Tobin (Daniel Radcliffe) to make a documentary about his life, though it soon becomes apparent that the two men have very different visions for the project.
NBC clearly saw the potential of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which was co-created by 30 Rock‘s Sam Means and Robert Carlock. The first episode received an early broadcast premiere, dropping on January 18 after the NFL playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears. Per Variety, this earned an initial audience of 5.8 million viewers, but the total number has grown substantially since then. When delayed viewing from Peacock and other platforms is factored in, in the 50 days since its premiere, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins‘ first episode has reached nearly 13 million viewers. Additionally, Episode 2 is Peacock’s most-watched comedy episode of the 2025-26 season to date. The specific viewership number was not disclosed.
Tracy Morgan, Erika Alexander, and the showrunners dig into that bizarre truth and what it changes going forward.
Since then, a few more episodes have aired, though it isn’t yet clear how well they have performed. It’s likely that The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins‘ audience will dip a bit in subsequent weeks; it’s extremely rare that a show keeps going up, as oftentimes viewers can fall behind with week-to-week releases. However, this definitely puts the series in a great position for the rest of its freshman run and shows that network TV still has a lot to offer. Big-budget sci-fi isn’t the only thing that can break out these days.
With Big Stars and a Classic Format, ‘The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins’ Has the Ingredients for a Hit
Network TV has developed a reputation for being more generic and less ambitious than streaming projects, which also have the added benefit of attracting A-list talent. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins challenges this idea, albeit in a way that still firmly marks it as a broadcast title. Its biggest strength is the odd-couple pairing of Morgan and Radcliffe, two stars with vastly different comedic styles and personalities. Morgan remains a legendary comedy actor thanks to his work on 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, and Radcliffe continues to endear and impress audiences with his diverse post-Harry Potter roles. Their involvement alone gives The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins a big boost.
Beyond that, creatives Carlock and Means, as well as executive producer Tina Fey, have proven track records with sitcoms that serve as strong endorsements for audiences. The mockumentary format has produced enduring, fan-favorite hits like The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Modern Family, and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins has given the well-trodden set-up a bit of a twist by having the crew be just as central to the plot as the subjects. It’s a throwback to the beloved sitcoms of the 2000s and 2010s with a fresh, updated spin, and it’s thus far been a big win for NBC and network TV as a whole.
Above all else, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins‘ success is proof that what viewers want these days is unique, uncomplicated storytelling. It’s reliable entertainment, the kind that audiences can tune into week after week for classic laughs. Whereas the big-budget streaming offerings can be just as rewarding, they also often require more viewer investment and have varied release cycles. Network television can stick to a specific formula while offering original ideas, and in the case of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, its combined elements have made a recipe that audiences are happily devouring.
New episodes of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins premiere on NBC on Mondays.

Beyond the Gates Weekly Spoilers March 16-20: Leslie Completely Unravels & Jacob Takes a Bullet!
Beyond the Gates weekly spoilers for March 16th through the 20th indicate about Dana “Leslie” Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) losing her mind, and it seems like Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) might be shot.
Beyond the Gates Monday, March 16th: Jacob May Be Shot
On Monday, March 16th, it’s season 2, episode 51 of BTG, and we’ve got Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) plopping down in a chair at the Fairmont Crest Country Club and telling Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla) and Katherine “Kat” Richardson (Colby Muhammad) that they will not believe who is hijacking the wedding plans that she has been making.
I mean, they should know, right? Because she’s the villain in every story line lately. So, it is Leslie who is interfering with Chelsea and Madison Morgan’s (Tiyn D. Robertson) big wedding plans. We’ll find out more on that on Monday. Also, We’ve got Carlton Hamilton (Tony Grant) versus Dr. Kial Rollins (Greg Vaughan) and they are bickering over Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) again.
This time they’re making a scene in her office up at Garland Memorial. So, Nicole is telling these men that she is a grown woman. And Carlton orders Kial to get out of Nicole’s office, saying, “Why don’t you give her some space?” and Kial claps back at Carlton that he will leave when he’s good and ready.
BTG Spoilers: Jacob in Danger
Also on Monday, Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne’s (Arielle Prepetit) worst nightmare comes true. So, where we left off last week, Jacob had texted her to meet at the hotel. They were getting frisky since they’re not living together. I was kind of thinking that might be a little hot. You know, meet the husband up for a little afternoon delight since you’re not living together.
Might put a spark back in the marriage, but things are about to turn really dark because Dani shows up at the hotel where Naomi and Jacob were twisting and Dani is looking really stressed out. Naomi is alarmed and asks her mom, “Tell me what happened. Where is he?”
So, I have a feeling Jacob might have been injured while working undercover since he’s working around some really bad bad people. Ashley Morgan’s (Jen Jacob) workday turns terrible on Monday and I wonder if she’s on shift and Jacob is brought in shot. So, we’ll see. It doesn’t look good and hopefully he’ll be just fine.
Beyond the Gates Spoilers Tuesday, March 17th: Eva Goes to Ted About Leslie
Tuesday, March 17th, it’s season 2, episode 52 of Beyond the Gates, and we’ve got Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) going to her dad, Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson), to please help with her out of control mama, Leslie. So, this week, Ted has Leslie up at the office and says she needs to stop crossing the line. The big question is, what is this about? So many topics.
Is it the wedding plans or is it about Derek Baldwin (Ben Gavin) or Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) or Nicole or literally everybody in the DMV? Leslie is so awful. And you know an actress is good when you want to smack her character. Trisha Mann-Grant is so extra all the time.
Dani gives in to something that Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) wants. Hopefully it’s something frisky and fun. Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson) needs her aunt Monica, the oncologist for comfort. And I don’t know if this is something personal, if it’s about her friend getting shot, or if she wants to talk to her about Anita Dupree‘s (Tamara Tunie) case.
And Kat has a warning for Izaiah Hawthorne (David Lami Friebe). I’m sure it’s about Eva again. I’m interested to see if Izaiah shuts her down because he’s probably getting tired of hearing Kat on this subject. Also, this week, Eva and Izaiah are getting freaky over at her place. He is shirtless, pouring water all over that eight-pack ab set he’s got going. It is sizzling shirtless hotness. Definitely don’t miss Tuesday’s episode.
BTG Spoilers Wednesday, March 18th: Leslie’s House Renovation Gets Shut Down
Then on Wednesday, March 18th, it’s season 2, episode 53 of Beyond the Gates. And Vanessa is desperate for some advice from Nicole. And I think this is about Deanna McBride’s (Erica Ash) rage about Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) and Donnell McBride (Colton Little) being irritated, too. I’m really impressed with that young man.
He is very concerned about Deanna and is kind of, you know, letting Vanessa know where she’s going off track with her daughter. And what’s interesting is both the kids seem to see Joey a lot more clearly than Vanessa does.
Kial does something surprising on Wednesday. I’m low-key rooting for Nicole and Kial. I love Greg Vaughan anyway. And I think Carlton is being way too territorial, talking on behalf of Nicole and, you know, not giving her the space and staying within the boundaries she has set.

Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Leslie Rages at Vernon
Leslie’s house renovation gets shut down and she is furious with Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis). So over at Orphey Gene’s, the contractor tells Leslie that the construction on her house has been shut down and Leslie glares at him and says he better not mean it. Vernon obviously got Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) to find a way to stop it.
So, good for Mr. Hamilton. Anita really does need her peace and quiet during this difficult time. Speaking of difficult, Bill heads over to the Duprees’ house to have a difficult talk with Anita. So, he may go over and tell Vernon, you know, that he made it happen. You know, I don’t think it’s going to be able to get shut down for good.
But I hope that Bill tells Anita that it’s the least he could do for her after, you know, wrecking Dani’s life. And Joey gives somebody his blessing. Supposed to be an old friend. I wonder if it’s Leah. I actually think those two are in cahoots on this whole plasma ring.
Thursday and Friday: March Madness Preemptions
Then on Thursday and Friday, March 19th and 20th, guess what? No Beyond the Gates. Both days are preempted for basketball. It is NCAA March Madness. And I’ll say what I always say about this sports preemption stuff. That’s what ESPN is for. Don’t take our soaps off the air for that garbage.

The Brand Behind the Stylish Brooches at the 2026 Oscars
Stars graced the red carpet in stunning gowns and tailored suits at the 98th Academy Awards, but it was a standout accessory worn by many celebrities that stole the night.
Swadesh, the company behind some of the gorgeous one-of-a-kind couture pieces seen on high-profile attendees at last night’s event, brings “luxury craft from Indian designers under one roof to support their efforts in getting global visibility,” according to the company.
Celebrities such as esteemed stylist and “image architect” Law Roach, actress and singer Minnie Driver, actor Kyle MacLachlan, model Alessandra Ambrosio, designer and entrepreneur Tan France, Emmy-nominated TV host Justin Sylvester, singer Brandi Carlile, Pritika Swarup, founder of Prakti, a beauty and wellness brand, and journalist Zanna Roberts Rassi, were spotted throughout the night donning jewels and accessories from the company.
Founded by Indian businesswoman and philanthropist, Nita Ambani, Swadesh, “was created to sustain and promote India’s traditional arts, handlooms and crafts, while placing artisans at the center of the story,” a press release said. “Today, the initiative works closely with over 12,000 artisans across more than 500 craft traditions, helping ensure that these skills continue to thrive for generations to come. Each creation reflects authenticity, ethical sourcing, and the remarkable skill of the hands that make it.”
Ambani’s daughter Isha, 34, who was in attendance at the Oscars, has helped to position the company as an emblem of Indian craftsmanship.

For Hollywood’s biggest night, Swadesh partnered with Indian designers to create custom pieces. “These featured exquisite, handcrafted fabrics created by highly skilled artisans in India, complemented by fine jewelry from its collections that spotlight India’s living traditions of metalwork and gemstone craftsmanship.”
Roach, 47, wore a dazzling brooch by Swadesh, on top of a 1997 Alexander McQueen suit. The brooch’s design “draws inspiration from the bold symmetry of the Art Deco era, echoing the architectural language of the iconic Eros Building in Mumbai, India—home to the Swadesh flagship store,” the company said.

Driver, 56, donned Swadesh’s Celestial Tiers multi-row solitaire necklace at the 31st Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. “Crafted in polished white gold, the piece features an elegant arrangement of pear, emerald and round brilliant-cut diamonds, set in descending rows that taper into a refined fringe-like drape along the neckline,” the company said.

Carlile, 44, who attended the awards show with her wife Catherine Shepherd, wore Swadesh’s Petal Prism Brooch, “inspired by the organic geometry of a sunflower.”

Former Us Weekly cover star, MacLachlan, 67, wore a stunning brooch with a 10.95-carat cushion-cut tourmaline encircled by a halo of diamonds.

Living Fossil Discovered With ‘Weird’ Jaw. It’s a New Species
Picture this: you’re a scientist digging near the Amazon rainforest, and you pull a jawbone out of the ground that looks so wrong you assume it broke underground.
Then you find another one. Same weird twist. Then another. And another. Nine total, each with the same baffling shape.
That’s exactly what happened to a team of researchers who just identified one of the strangest ancient creatures ever discovered — and it’s rewriting textbooks in the process.
The animal? Tanyka amnicola, which translates roughly to “jaw living next to the river.”
It lived about 275 million years ago, and its discovery has scientists rethinking some very confident assumptions about when certain ancient creatures disappeared from the planet.
Tanyka Amnicola Is the New Species That Started With One ‘Weird’ Fossil
The way Tanyka came to light is a story worth telling. Researchers found a single twisted jawbone during excavations in Brazil.
Their first instinct? Something must have gone wrong. Maybe the fossil was crushed during its 275 million years underground. They also thought it belonged to a fish, not a land-dwelling creature.
“At first, we wondered if these fossils might be the remains of a fish,” coauthor Martha Richter recalls, per the Natural History Museum. “It was only once the fossils were properly prepared in the lab that the true nature of Tanyka was clearly revealed to us.”
Then the team kept digging and found eight more jawbones with that same twist. One oddly shaped jaw could be a fluke. Nine? That’s a pattern.
“It’s a really strange animal, and the weird twist in the jaw drove us crazy trying to figure it out. But nine jaws we’ve found have this twist, including the really well-preserved ones, so it’s not a deformation. It’s just the way this animal was,” lead author Jason Pardo added.
The repeated structure confirmed the twisted jaw was a natural anatomical feature. And after comparing its traits to known species spanning hundreds of millions of years, the team realized they had something unexpected on their hands.
“By comparing its anatomical traits to the characteristics of known species from across hundreds of millions of years, we found that this animal was actually a primitive tetrapod after all,” Richter added.
The study was published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.
What Made Tanyka Amnicola’s Jaw So Unique?
Most tetrapods (the group that includes four-limbed animals) have teeth in the upper and lower jaws that face each other. This lets animals slice, cut, and grind food. You can see the setup in everything from a house cat to a crocodile.
Tanyka’s mouth threw out that entire playbook.
Its lower jaw twisted outward from back to front. Some teeth pointed outward and sideways rather than inward toward the opposing jaw.
And lining the inside of the jaw were small grinding teeth called denticles. Researchers believe the denticles in the upper and lower jaws likely rubbed together to grind food — almost like a built-in mortar and pestle.

Vitor Silva, Field Museum
If you were to run your tongue over the teeth on your lower jaw, you would feel the tops of your teeth facing up towards the roof of your mouth.
In Tanyka, the twisted lower jaw meant the teeth were pointed out to the sides. The part of the jawbone that normally faces the tongue is pointed upwards.
This unusual setup suggests a possible diet of tough plant material and small invertebrates with hard shells, which would make Tanyka omnivorous or herbivorous. That’s a departure from many of its meat-eating relatives.
Researchers described the species as belonging to a more experimental stage in early animal evolution, when nature was still trying out different designs for how a mouth could work.
Only jaw fossils have been definitively linked to the species, so scientists aren’t certain about its full body shape. They believe it likely resembled a salamander-like animal with a longer snout. Other nearby fossils may belong to the same species, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Think of the Tanyka Amnicola as the Platypus of 275 Million Years Ago
The researchers themselves offered an analogy that makes Tanyka’s place in its world click: think of the platypus.
That odd, duck-billed, egg-laying mammal looks like it belongs to a much earlier chapter of evolution, yet it persists today alongside far more modern creatures.
Tanyka had a similar vibe. It belonged to a group called stem tetrapods — early relatives of modern four-limbed animals that eventually gave rise to the ancestors of amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
But most stem tetrapods went extinct long before Tanyka lived.
“Tanyka is a little like a platypus, in the sense that it was a member of the stem tetrapod lineage that remained even after newer, more modern tetrapods evolved,” Pardo said. “It was a living fossil in its time.”
Tanyka lived during the Early Permian Period, when Earth’s land was joined into the supercontinent Pangaea. The climate where the fossils were found was likely hot and seasonally dry.
Scientists long believed stem tetrapods largely disappeared after a major ecological event called the Carboniferous Rainforest Collapse. That event caused widespread destruction of tropical forests and wiped out the humid environments many early tetrapods depended on.
Creatures like Tanyka should have been gone long before it ever appeared. Yet there it was, grinding food with its twisted jaw, millions of years later than anyone expected.
One possible explanation: species in the southern part of Pangaea may have experienced different climates than those in the north. Those conditions may have allowed them to survive after northern populations went extinct.
The fossil record near the Amazon, and in excavation sites around the world, may hold more creatures waiting to be discovered that defy what we think we know.
And it all started with one twisted jawbone that nobody could explain.

Did Jane Fonda Date Robert Redford? Relationship Explained
Jane Fonda and Robert Redford played love interests in multiple films and had palpable chemistry, leaving many fans to wonder if the pair ever dated in real life.
Surprisingly, the answer is no — but they did have a decades-long close friendship.
The pair met while filming the 1960 comedy Tall Story. Years later, Fonda and Redford reunited for 1966’s The Chase.
In 1967, Fonda and Redford starred in their hit romantic comedy, Barefoot in the Park. The two also costarred in 1979’s The Electric Horseman and 2017’s Our Souls at Night.
Redford died in his sleep at age 89 in September 2025. The Oscar-winning actor and director was honored at the 98th Academy Awards in March 2026, featuring a tribute from Redford’s The Way We Were costar Barbra Streisand. After the awards ceremony, Fonda joked that she should have been the one to lead the tribute.
“I want to know how come Streisand was up there doing that for Redford,” the actress told Entertainment Tonight. “She only made one movie with him, I made four!”
Keep scrolling to learn more about Fonda and Redford’s friendship through the years:
Why Jane Fonda and Robert Redford Never Dated
Both Jane Fonda and Robert Redford were married to other people during the times that they collaborated on films.
Redford was married to Lola Van Wagenen from 1958 to 1985. The pair shared daughters Shauna, 64, and Amy, 58, son James, who died from cancer in October 2020 at age 58, and son Scott, who died of SIDS in 1959 when he was 2 months old. Redford later tied the knot with Sibylle Szaggars in 2009.

Meanwhile, Fonda was married to Roger Vadim, with whom she shares daughter Vanessa, 56, from 1965 to 1973. She later tied the knot with Tom Hayden in 1973. The pair welcomed son Troy, 52, before their split in 1990. Fonda was then married to Ted Turner from 1991 to 2001.
Though Fonda and Redford’s relationship never turned romantic, the Grace and Frankie star has admitted that she had a crush on her costar and even “fell in love” with him while filming their movies.
“I was always in love with him. [He was] the most gorgeous human being and had such great values. He did a lot for movies — he lifted up independent movies,” Fonda told ET after the 2026 Oscars.
What Has Jane Fonda Said About Her Friendship With Robert Redford?
Jane Fonda spoke about her crush on Robert Redford during a 2008 interview with People.
“He is so handsome and just such a wonderful human being,” she said. “Every movie I made with him, I developed a crush on him.”

Later, Fonda called Redford a “great kisser” and said she “couldn’t keep [her] hands off him” during Barefoot in the Park. Plus, Fonda shared that she “lived” for sex scenes with the Out of Africa actor.
What Has Robert Redford Said About His Friendship With Jane Fonda?
Robert Redford told The Telegraph in 2017 that he “didn’t know” Jane Fonda was in love with him. However, he had a deep admiration for his Tall Story costar.
“It’s easy [to work with Fonda],” he said during a 2017 Today interview. “We’ve done many films over the years so it just worked out that way, that there was not a lot of discussion, we didn’t have to talk about a lot. Things just kind of fell into place between us, and there wasn’t much more to think about.”
Later that year, Redford called Fonda a “force.”
“As long as I’ve known Jane, she’s always moving forward, and doesn’t look back. And whatever pain, whatever problems she’s had in the past, remains in the past and she keeps moving forward,” he shared. “It’s an admirable quality, and very few people have it like Jane does.”
Jane Fonda Paid Tribute to Robert Redford After His Death
After news broke of Robert Redford’s death, Jane Fonda told Us Weekly in a statement, “It hit me hard this morning when I read that Bob was gone. I can’t stop crying. He meant a lot to me and was a beautiful person in every way. He stood for an America we have to keep fighting for.”
Fonda also posted a tribute to Redford on Instagram, sharing a photo from Our Souls at Night.
“Bob made a real difference in all good ways. He represented an America we must now fight to protect. He revolutionized independent filmmaking and made us swoon in so many movies. I am very sad today,” she wrote. “I was wanting to go see him these last few months to make sure we were all right between us, but I didn’t act on it soon enough. Lesson learned. When people are our age, late 80s, don’t wait. Thank you, dearest Bob, for all the pleasure you brought over the years.”
