Young and the Restless: Sally Finds Love with Aristotle Dumas After Billy Break-Up?

Young and the Restless sees Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) relationship with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) being tested just as new character Aristotle Dumas is coming onto the scene. We’re going to talk about the possibility of Sally winding up with this new guy Dumas since it seems like her romance with Billy may crash and burn pretty soon.

Young and the Restless: Billy and Phyllis’ Rekindled Connection – A Threat to Sally’s Romance?

So right now we’ve got Billy getting in deeper with Phyllis. And the two of them have a long history. They were engaged back in 2014 for just literally about a hot minute. That was when Billy proposed just before Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) dumped Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) at the altar and she revealed his infidelity with Phyllis and that was messy. But it was also well before Billy met Sally and they got involved.

Back in the day, 2018, Billy dumped Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). He was pretty salty about the whole thing. But these days it’s not an open wound. It’s healed. Since then, Billy and Phyllis have reconciled. They became solid friends again. And of course, they’re now working together. And in fact, Billy and Phyllis are turning into co-conspirators. I also suspect Billy got a wakeup call when Phyllis was kidnapped and almost died on Young and the Restless.

When Billy saw that he could have lost Phyllis, it is bringing up some old feelings that he used to have for her, bringing them up to the surface, which is a problem because Sally’s with Billy. But even if Sally splits with Billy, you know, there is a new guy coming to town who may actually be meant for her and may be a better choice for her.

Y&R: Phyllis Depending on Billy

So, worse than Billy’s growing feelings, Phyllis is regaining feelings about her ex too. So you know, this week we have Phyllis struggling with PTSD and trauma and a snarky interaction with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) leaves her breaking down into a panic attack. But Billy gets her away from the situation outside, cools her down, gets her focus back.

That helped Phyllis of course. But none of this is going to help Sally. All these old feelings bubbling back up for Billy and Phyllis are intensifying as she continues to lean in closer to Billy, which is going to be happening more and more. And right now I honestly think Sally is more aware of the threat of Phyllis and Billy to their relationship than either of the two of them are.

Young and the Restless: Sally’s Perspective – Is She Ready to Walk Away from Billy?

However, I do think that this Philly reunion is a great thing because I think Sally is meant for someone better than Billy Boy Abbott. But for now he is with Sally and she doesn’t want Billy to be with her if he wants someone else.

Sally is the type of woman that if she knew Billy really wanted to be with Phyllis she’d say “Okay go ahead.” And she’d take a step back. Sally’s not head over heels in love with Billy Abbott. Not at all. They are dating. They are sleeping together. And they are having fun. But this is not big love. This is not an epic romance.

Young and the Restless: Sally Needs More?

And they also don’t have that deep history that Phyllis has with Billy. So again, Sally could be meant for somebody else for something else and for something more than this just casual affair that’s basically a byproduct of the breakup of her last relationship and his last relationship.

This was not something where they had this meet cute and sparks flew. They were kind of tossed together as afterthoughts. So, it’s not a magical beginning either. So right now Billy’s concern for Phyllis is a risk to his relationship and it could end up with Sally getting her heartbroken again like what happened with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).

Courtney Hope on Sally’s Concerns and Potential Future on Y&R

Actress Courtney Hope recently did an interview with Soap Digest and she shed some light on Sally’s concerns about Billy and Phyllis. Courtney Hope said “When Sally and Billy started seeing each other it wasn’t serious. They were both wounded after Adam and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) cheated and then things progressed.

Now they do have feelings for each other. But you know this is not head over heels love between Sally and Billy. And that is something she should want and something she deserves. The man for her may arrive in Genoa City soon. And of course Sally knows Billy has a past.

Young and the Restless: Sally Figures it Out?

That’s what the actress said. But now Sally’s starting to see a bit of what his past with Phyllis looked like. Courtney Hope said her character is really starting to see what she’s up against. And she also said for Sally there are definitely still trust issues and plenty of potential for Phyllis to ruffle Sally’s feathers. The actress admitted that Sally doesn’t trust Phyllis.

And because of Sally’s scheme against Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) years back, Phyllis doesn’t trust her either. She’s been nasty to Sally for a long time even though Summer has forgiven Sally and moved on. But Phyllis can’t. She’s the queen of grudges. So now Sally’s doing her best to trust Billy and believe his reassurances about Phyllis and that they won’t get back together.

Young and the Restless: Avoiding the Love Triangle Trope – Is There a Better Path for Sally?

And one option is this turns into a full-blown love triangle for Sally, Billy, and Phyllis. But that frankly sounds awful to me. I think that is one of the worst and most overused soap tropes. It’s lazy writing. And so writers have convinced themselves that that is what fans want to see.

But what I see overwhelmingly on social media anytime they start up a love triangle is that like 90% of fans are like “No I don’t want it I hate these.” Especially when it’s one that’s recycled.

Young and the Restless: Sally Sees Red Flags?

So with all these red flags waving maybe Sally decides to walk away before she gets in deeper and gets hurt. That way you know maybe she and Billy could call it off and be amicable and walk away with some sort of friendship because if it keeps on as it’s going on this path he’s going to break her trust and hurt her.

I just don’t see Sally and Billy surviving all this as a couple. And that means before too long maybe even by May sweeps we could see Sally single turning her back on Billy and him stepping deeper into this rekindled thing with Phyllis.

Young and Restless: Aristotle Dumas – A New Love Interest for Sally Spectra?

So in the end whether it’s May sweeps or later where does it leave Sally’s love life? Well, we have this rich mystery man on the way to town and I expect he’s going to roll into Genoa City looking like a million bucks or in the case of Aristotle Dumas, a billion bucks. So this has me wondering just based on where the events are aligning and the timing if Sally is meant to spark with Dumas.

On this week’s episodes, Billy admits to Phyllis that Duma is helping him target Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Billy is scheming with Dumas. It is to get Chancellor away from the Newmans back into his hands. And depending on when Dumas comes to town if they’re still in a good place it could be Billy that introduces Sally to this guy. So this week Billy may be misleading Sally. And denying the whole revenge thing.

Young and the Restless: The Beginning of the End?

And Billy may continue to confide only in Phyllis. Which if so that’s a betrayal that again I think could mark the beginning of the end for them. So very soon we have Billy Flynn joining the cast of The Young and the Restless and he may be playing Dumas. What we do know is that hunky Flynn was lured away from Days of Our Lives and given a brand new role on Y&R, not a recast.

So, Dumas is a brand new role and he’s the only new guy that we’ve heard talk about recently. I think it’d be nice in a few ways. It’d be good to see Victor get a new rival because that long-running feud with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is so tired with Billy falling back to Phyllis as he helps her cope with her crisis. You know Sally may be at loose ends.

Young and the Restless: Sally Moves on?

The new hunk coming to town arrives in the next few weeks like three to five weeks. And if she and Billy do split which seems inevitable to me there aren’t really any other eligible bachelors around that are age appropriate. Maybe Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei). That’s about it. Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers) is destined for Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) chasing Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver).

And Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) is also with Audra. And everybody else is kind of paired up. So Dumas could be meant for Sally and it might be Billy Flynn’s new character that is romancing her. And yes I do know that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) is at loose ends. But I think he is way too vanilla for Sally Spectra.
