A Stitch of Color – Julia Berolzheimer
OUTFIT DETAILS: Antipodean Robe, Antipodean Pants, Chanel Bag (old, similar here), Chanel Heels, Sherman Field Necklace
I have never been able to resist a piece with a little extra something. The embroidered dress that stops me mid-scroll, a bag that almost feels like a work of art in itself, the top with stitched details that makes it feel anything but expected. Those are the pieces that bring a wardrobe to life.
Lately, I have found myself gravitating toward details that feel decorative, playful, and full of character. Embroidery, appliqué, cutwork, beading, and colorful trim add a sense of charm that makes even the most everyday silhouettes feel special. They bring texture and dimension, an artisanal quality that feels impossible to overlook.

I don’t normally gravitate toward a bright floral print for work apparel, but this dress from Karl Lagerfeld Paris is really calling my name. I could totally see myself reaching for this lightweight cotton fabric on a hot summer day and adding a navy blazer once I hit the office.
The belt is removable, so I might do away with it altogether or swap it out for a brown, braided version. For shoes, I’m thinking something like these braided leather flats from Vionic, which skew a bit casual but would fly in most offices I spend time in these days.
The dress is $189 at Nordstrom and comes in sizes 2-14.

Coffee Break: Stripe Wool Cardigan

It’s between Memorial Day and July 4 — so you might think there are no good deals to be had right now. But in my experience this is actually the best time to get cold-weather stuff on deep discount, in part because the stores are trying to get all of it off their shelves before July.
Looking through Nordstrom right now there are deals to be had on good bags like Mulberry (but in a wintry burgundy), and on heavy coats from brands like Mackage or Soia & Kyo. Of course, most stuff is down to lucky sizes.
This 100% virgin wool cardigan from Akris is a great example and, for once, is still available in most sizes. Are you going to wear it before fall? I suppose it depends how freezing your office A/C is. But I think it’s incredibly versatile because it’s a simple, easy cardigan in a mostly dark, subdued color — but the stripes add a bit of joie de vivre and distinction. (Also, how cute would the stripe at the cuffs look poking out of the sleeve of a blazer or overcoat?)
The sweater was $835, but is currently marked to $501.
(Another great deal with lots of sizes: this gorgeous tweed jacket from Akris.)

More Than One Statement Piece
Dior Coat (old, similar here and here), Le Bop Top, Aje Skirt, Dior Sandals, Chanel Bag (similar here),Sherman Field Necklaces
Some outfits are better when one special piece invites another in. There is something about summer that makes me want to dress bolder, a brightness in the air that invites more color, more shine, more print, and makes the case for leaning all the way into ‘more is more’.
The best way to keep a maximalist look feeling intentional and not over the top is to find a common thread running through every piece. Let one shade repeat, maybe a top that echoes your shoe, or balance a bold pattern with something more delicate. Fringe, sequins, or sheer layers all add dimension without making the look feel heavy. The result feels layered and expressive, far more interesting than asking a single piece to carry the whole thing.
Crochet Fringe Top
The crochet texture and fringe trim on this top bring dimension to any warm-weather outfit, whether you style with the matching skirt or separately.

Tuesday’s Workwear Report: Margeaux Blazer

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
I’ve attended several conferences and other industry events lately where I’ve seen lots of folks wearing this lovely lavender color. It wouldn’t normally catch my eye, but the way I’m seeing it styled is making me eager to add it to my wardrobe.
One woman was wearing a blazer very similar to this linen number from J.Crew and she had it paired with wide-legged navy trousers and a scarf that incorporated both colors. (It looked a little bit like this one from Chico’s!) A flawless look from top to bottom. I’m still not confident in my scarf-styling abilities, but I’ll get there someday.
The blazer is $228 at J.Crew and comes in sizes 00-24, 00P-12P, and 2T-20T. It also comes in four other colors.
Psst: here are our tips on what to wear to conferences in 2026 — and if you’re looking for more lightweight blazers, here was our last roundup…
