The Sephora Sales Event is here, which makes it the IDEAL TIME to invest in high-quality beauty products that truly deliver results. It happens only twice a year – now in the spring and then lastly during the holiday season.

For women over 40+, the right makeup and skincare can enhance our natural beauty, provide hydration, and create a youthful glow without looking overdone (unless you like overdone, then of course don’t let me stop you!). And whenever I can snag ANYthing at a discount right now, I’m going to take advantage while I can, because life has gotten pricey!!

To help you navigate this sale, I’ve curated a list of must-have products across key categories. Each with two to three of my top recommendations to suit different preferences, but all great for my mature friends and their faces. How do I know they’ll work, you say?? Well, I’m a 47-year-old professional makeup artist who actually works with these products and on various faces every single week!

*Let’s be real, I could give multiple recs in each category, but I’m going only to suggest my personal best-of-the-best to keep this post concise and with less decision-making!*

As a reminder, the sale rolls out in tiers depending on your status with Sephora. And remember, at checkout, you must enter the code – SAVEMORE.

4/4- 4/14 SEPHORA COLLECTION @ 30% off for all! There are some serious gems in this lower cost category. The packaging isn’t glamorous, but what’s inside, I have been impressed by.

4/4 – 4/14 ROUGE STATUS (first access) 20% off

4/8 – 4/14 VIB STATUS 15% off

4/9 – 4/14 INSIDER STATUS 10% off

Now let’s get into it because we have a lot of ground to cover and the hot stuff sells out FAST at these discounts….

Skincare at Sephora: The Foundation of Ageless Beauty

  1. Youth to the People Superfood Skin Drip Serum, $39. I’m already on my 2nd bottle, it’s that GREAT and gives immediate results. A multi-benefit serum powered by peptides and niacinamide that can be used alone to prime before makeup or you can mix it in with your moisturizer or foundation for an amped up dewy finish.
  2. Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 6% Mandelic Acid Liquid exfoliant, $37. Everyone can benefit from a chemical exfoliant, for a gentle way to get visibly smooth skin that also reduces dark spots for brighter skin. Use a cotton round to apply after cleansing, but before moisturizer.
  3. Elemis Pro Collagen Anti-Aging Marine cream with SPF 30, $140. When I smell anything Elemis, I immediately feel transported to a spa-like experience. This best selling moisturizer with a 98% recommended rating on Sephora, rapidly delivers hydration along with added sun protection.

Foundation: Flawless and Natural Coverage

  1. Milk Makeup 12 Hr. Hydro Grip Gel Skin Tint, $36. It keeps selling out in many colors since its debut, so I’m hoping they’ll restock for this big sale! This non-comedogenic, hydrating gel skin tint gives longer wear time, a light to medium coverage, with a dewy natural finish. This is my everyday foundation choice right now. I wear shade 6, and you can see it in action on my face in this Makeup Capsule Collection build post here
  2. Fenty Eaze Drop Stick Blur Foundation, $38.  It’s the ease of this stick that I enjoy and how I can easily swipe it right from the tube where I want, then quickly blend in to get that light coverage that instantly blurs. I wear shade 5, and you can see it on my Celebrity Makeup Artist-approved products post
  3. YSL All Hours Luminous Matte Foundation SPF 30, $62. When you want to get dolled up and get additional SPF protection, this is my luxury foundation buy for mature skin. It’s the best of both worlds that it gives medium to full coverage, and glides on for a barely there feel with longevity!

Eyeshadow Palettes + Eyeliners: Elegant and Wearable Shades

  1. Natasha Denona Palettes, $27 – $69.  These palettes are for the glamorous and the adventurous, with buttery textures and sophisticated shimmers that enhance mature eyes beautifully. From minis to larger palettes, these are extreme luxe pigments.
  2. Urban Decay Mini Naked Palettes, $35. – A versatile collection of matte and shimmer shades in warm, cool, or neutral tones that flatter all skin ranges. These are perfect for the minimalist gal that likes choices, but not too many!
  3. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Waterproof Eyeliner, $23. There’s really no other choice – they have the BEST color range of 34 options with various finishes of matte, shimmer, foil, etc! And the color payoff, the soft glide, and longwear is unmatched. Just make sure you own a really good pencil sharpener, $7, that doesn’t eat away at your pencils – worth the small investment for lip pencils too.

Concealers + Powder: Simple Touches for Flawless Complexions

  1. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place concealer, $38. Brand new and getting so much buzz with almost a perfect 5 star rating! Lauder’s beloved double wear formula that doesn’t transfer, fade or crease, translated into a concealer is a no brainer. Give this a shot during the sale.
  2. Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye brightener, $25. This is for the ladies that don’t want heavier coverage under the eyes but still need some sheer brightening and this is the ticket. The “light medium” is my fave and it’s also a good product for teens that want some sheer complexion help.
  3. Huda Beauty Easy Bake Blur and Setting Powder, $39. The price point beats out my beloved Laura Mercier powder and so that’s why I am going with this one. And it’s lots of product that perform and set with so many beautiful color options for all skin tones with a good guideline depending on your needs. I like shade “pound cake” for myself and the pinky “cherry blossom.”

Blush + Highlighter at Sephora: A Youthful Flush of Color + Glow

  1. MILK Makeup Lip + Cheek Cream Blush Sticks,$24.  A hybrid blush and lip chubby stick that adds super realistic color to both areas in an easy, mess free stick. Shade “Werk” is the most popular shade IMO. If you prefer a cooling stain finish, their Cooling Water Jelly Stain Sticks, $24, are equally as wonderful.
  2. Patrick Ta Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush, $38.  This mega popular product duo offers both cream and powder formulas, ensuring a long-lasting and natural-looking flush. His color selection is gorgeous, my personal fave for most is “She’s That Girl.”
  3. Charlotte Tilbury Glow Wands, $42. A creamy, dewy highlighter that melts into the skin for a fresh, youthful glow with zero glitter – great for dry dry skin. A little bit goes a very long way, so you get a lot for the money!
  4. Fenty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters, $40. A silky, powder duo of two shades of highlighter that delivers a sophisticated, soft-focus sheen. With some combos, you can go without blushing because of the pigmented shades offered. I’m wearing shade duo “lightning dust/fire crystal” in this post.

Mascara + Brows: Lift, Definition, and Volume

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Ombre Duo Brow powder, $23. The most realistic way to draw back on brows or give light fullness is with this two shades of brow powder that work together. I wear shade medium brown. Make sure you have her #12 firm brow brush to apply it best with.
  2. Lancôme Lash Idôle Mascara, $30. A lightweight, lengthening formula that lifts lashes and separates without smudging or flaking. I love the slightly curved wand with this formula.
  3. Patrick Ta Major Brow Lamination Gel, $27. If you have shifty, coarse brow hairs that never want to lay down, try this brow gel that will keep those brows where you want them. Light strokes and then press into the head with the back of the wand or your finger, and they’re not going anywhere! Also helps to keep eyebrow powder in place and from fading.

Lip Products: Hydration and Definition

  1. YSL Candy Glaze Lipgloss Stick, $42. You ladies know by now how much I adore this formula. It’s mega shiny, but applies like a lipstick, and is the luxe lipstick that makes you feel pretty in just a couple swipes. I’m wearing shade 15, Showcasing Nude in this post.
  2. Fenty Universal Luminizer Gloss Bombs, $22. If you like glossy hydrating shea butter lips, this formula is for you. Super girly and shade range is equally as gorgeous.
  3. Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede Lip Sculpting pencil with lip brush, $26. Having an included lip brush with a lip pencil is the most brilliant invention because feathering out a lip liner is so key to a beautiful finish and this formula is soft and pigmented.

Hair + Fragrance + Setting Spray: The Ultimate Finishing Touches at Sephora

  1. Gisou Honey Gloss Hydrating Hair Mask, $39.  Having a hair mask on hand is the best way to keep your hair looking its best in between haircuts/trims. And this one is also getting so much “buzz” that I will definitely be buying a pot for myself during the sale.
  2. Any Fragrance purchase! Everyone is so unique in what fragrance speaks to them, so be sure to purchase yours during this sale because perfume is pricey these days but I don’t go a day without wearing one. I don’t feel complete without a spritz (or 3!) of my Super Amber fragrance.
  3. Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo, $28.  I use way too much dry shampoo, but this stuff is incredible, smells gorgeous, and leaves my hair not feeling stiff or crunchy – just voluminous and soft.
  4. OneSize On Til Dawn Mattifying Setting spray, $32.  I prefer aerosol delivery when it comes to setting sprays because they just go on so much more evenly than a pump. And I like the smell of this one and how it doesn’t feel heavy or sticky but yet it locks everything in for the entire day!
