My Tried-and-True Amazon Picks for Prime Day

My Tried-and-True Amazon Picks for Prime Day
20261006 jb amazonprimeday

Prime Day is always my excuse to stock up on the things we already use constantly: beauty and skincare I keep in my bathroom, little organizers and gadgets that make mornings with the girls easier, travel essentials that live in my suitcase, and the random Amazon finds that have somehow become indispensable. I’ve tried plenty of versions of all of the above, and these are the ones that have stuck.

Some are small things I reorder again and again, like pimple patches, micellar water, and the best nipple covers out there, while others are bigger purchases worth watching during a sale, like a Vitamix or the Theraface, both of which I use daily. Everything here has been thoroughly vetted and genuinely gets used in our house, car, bathroom, suitcase, or bag. Prime Day can get overwhelming quickly, so these are the ones I’d narrow it down to first, whether you’re restocking a favorite or finally buying something that’s been sitting in your cart.

Browse the full edit below, and explore more in our JB Amazon Shop and Amazon Storefront, refreshed weekly.

Akris Spring 2027 Gave Power Dressing an Artistic Point of View

Published

For Spring 2027, Akris offered a compelling wardrobe for the woman who meant business and dressed with imagination. Opening with an eye-catching red dress, Albert Kriemler established a confident approach to color that continued through painterly prints, unexpected contrasts, and tailoring animated by movement.

The collection drew on the work of Austrian artist Martha Jungwirth, whose expressive paintings provided both a palette and a way of thinking about clothes. In his show notes, Kriemler described dressing as an intuitive act shaped by instinct, memory, and desire. On the runway, that idea took form in garments that appeared composed at first glance, then revealed something unexpected.

The Art of Looking Twice

Akris Spring 2027 Image 1791222091 2

A cream look disclosed a pop of yellow at the hem. A pale blue strap peeked out against gray. A familiar trench became a canvas for sweeping painterly marks, while checked trousers gained ruffled details that disrupted their orderly pattern.

Akris Spring 2027 Image 1791222091 10 1

These touches gave the collection its character. Even the quieter looks invited a second look, with color, texture, and construction introducing small surprises.

Hand-applied ribbons translated the zigzag energy of Jungwirth’s brushstrokes into three dimensions. Folded, origami-like appliqués lifted away from the fabric, while loose ends followed the body’s movement. A cream dress combined delicate straps with patches of color and trailing ribbons, bringing the impression of an artwork still in progress to an otherwise graceful silhouette.

Kriemler’s show notes also identified reversed jacquards, frayed threads, and open structures as ways of revealing how the clothes were made. That visible process added depth to the collection’s artistic references.

Color With Conviction

The palette ranged from vivid poppy red and rich oxblood to pale pink, lavender, ocean blue, mint green, peach, and yellow. Periwinkle was a particular standout, lending softness to a structured jacket and matching skirt.

Akris Spring 2027 Image 1791222091 8 1

Suede and wool gave the clothes substance, while sheer details introduced lightness and glimpses of skin. Hemlines moved between mini, knee-length, midi, and ankle-length proportions, with asymmetric cuts adding another sense of motion.

Akris Spring 2027 Image 1791222091 7 1

A black dress with trailing tails was among the most striking looks. Its appeal lay in the way the fabric moved, demonstrating that the collection’s expressive spirit extended beyond its colorful prints.

Accessories That Completed the Picture

Akris Spring 2027 Image 1791222091 6 1

The bags carried the same balance of practicality and visual impact. Oversized totes were tucked under the arm like clutches, making their generous proportions part of the silhouette. Printed versions extended the artwork across the accessories, while smaller clutches provided a concentrated dose of color.

Akris Spring 2027 Image 1791222091 5

Open-toe mules kept the styling spare. Purple pairs offered a particularly appealing contrast to the soft blue separates, allowing the shoes to punctuate the look without overwhelming it.

Akris Spring 2027 Image 1791222091 4

For the Fashion Bomb reader looking to shake up her working wardrobe, Akris offered plenty to consider: expressive tailoring, memorable color, and pieces with enough detail to hold attention beyond the first impression. This was power dressing with an artist’s sensibility—and a clear point of view.

These Naturalizer flats look great — and I love the unusual dark red croc print leather, as well as the cool cutouts on the side of the flat and the sleek pointed toe.

The flats are available in four colors, sizes 5-12, at Naturalizer… they were $148 but are currently marked to $135 during the big Naturalizer “Signature Sale.”

(Naturalizer proclaims that “heels are back,” which I know makes many readers eyeroll… but if you want some heels they have a lot of beautiful ones. Not these fugly lace-up heels. But lots of other nice ones! Do note… I don’t think this is the first place I’ve seen both platforms and peep toes coming back… and there was an op-ed in the NYT (gift link) this morning about how all the cool kids are dressing like it’s 2006 again. Prepare yourselves, ladies.)

Heidi Klum’s 16-Year-Old Daughter Makes Rare Paris Fashion Week Debut in Coordinated Looks

paris fashion week

Paris Fashion Week delivered a surprise front-row pairing this season: Heidi Klum and her usually camera-shy youngest daughter, Lou Sulola Samuel, stepping out together as a genuine fashion duo. The 16-year-old, who turns 17 within days, joined her mother for both the Vivienne Westwood Spring/Summer 2027 show and the star-studded BOF 500 gala on October 3, marking one of her most visible public appearances to date.

Samuel has largely stayed out of the spotlight despite growing up with two famously public parents, Klum and singer Seal. Her prior exceptions to that low profile have been limited to family-adjacent moments, such as her mother’s annual Halloween extravaganza and the 2024 Los Angeles premiere of her father’s film The Book of Clarence. A full fashion week itinerary in Paris, however, is new territory, and it suggests the teenager may be easing into the kind of public style presence her mother has built a career on.

A Mother-Daughter Moment at Paris Fashion Week

For the Westwood presentation, Samuel and Klum coordinated in peplum-inspired silhouettes before changing into dramatically different, voluminous minidresses for the evening’s gala. Samuel wore a printed denim corset paired with a matching miniskirt to the runway show, while Klum opted for a white blazer featuring a draped shawl collar over a long maxi skirt. Both finished their daytime looks with platform pumps, visually tying their outfits together despite the difference in silhouette.

inline 6

The real transformation came later that evening. Samuel switched into a white off-the-shoulder silk-satin minidress, staying loyal to the Westwood design house that had anchored the day’s events. Klum, meanwhile, went in a bolder direction, choosing a red leather Saint Laurent ensemble originally from the label’s Spring 2018 collection. The look included a sculptural, strapless bodice encrusted with silver studs and an asymmetrical-hemmed miniskirt, a far cry from her daytime blazer-and-skirt combination.

Style Lessons Passed Down

Klum has been candid in the past about instilling a sense of personal style in her four children, whom she shares with Seal: Samuel, Leni Klum, Henry Samuel, and John Samuel. She’s previously described the top household rule as simply to “always look cool,” with the follow-up rule being not to forget the first one. Watching Samuel hold her own alongside her supermodel mother at this year’s Paris Fashion Week suggests that lesson has sunk in.

Klum’s current husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, has also played an active role in raising her children since the couple married, reportedly even seeking the kids’ blessing before proposing to their mother in 2018. The blended family dynamic has often played out publicly, but Samuel’s appearance at Paris Fashion Week represents a notable step toward her own visibility rather than simply tagging along at family events.

As fashion week continues to draw a widening circle of celebrity offspring eager to stake their own claim on personal style, Samuel’s debut alongside her mother stands out as one of the season’s quieter but more telling storylines. It wasn’t a solo splash so much as a shared one, a teenager finding her footing in the same spotlight her mother has occupied for decades, timed almost perfectly with her 17th birthday just around the corner.

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

I’ve always thought the Wit & Wisdom brand gives you some of the most bang for your buck when shopping at Nordstrom, and these pants are no exception. For less than $100, you’re getting a pair of reasonably well-made, machine-washable pants that will last you at least a few seasons.

Despite my misgivings about being a short-legged lady, I’ve been leaning into wide-leg styles lately, and I really like these trousers for a business casual day. I would pair these with a silky top, like the reader-favorite Ann Taylor mixed-media pleated blouse, and some loafers for a comfy but pulled-together look.

The pants are on sale for $61-$66, marked down from $88, at Nordstrom and come in sizes 0-18 and 0P-18P. They also come in “French oak” and “butter toffee.”

Inside SS27 Fashion Month: Why the Industry’s Wildest Stunts Gave Way to Quiet Spectacle

TITLE: Inside SS27 Fashion Month: Why the Industry’s Wildest Stunts Gave Way to Quiet Spectacle
KEYWORD: fashion month
DESCRIPTION: From a library-themed Valentino show to Dita Von Teese on a giant stiletto, SS27 fashion month swapped viral gimmicks for subtler, star-studded theater.

Fashion month has always had a split personality: part art exhibition, part circus, part celebrity sighting report. But the spring/summer 2027 edition, which wound through New York, London, Milan and Paris, suggested the industry is quietly recalibrating what counts as a moment worth talking about. The robot dogs, the live-airbrushed gowns, the Kardashian theme-park stunts of seasons past have largely been retired. In their place: denser storytelling, smaller gestures, and a front row doing a lot of the emotional heavy lifting.

That shift is partly a casualty of its own success. Years of engineered virality — stunts built explicitly for a thirty-second clip — trained audiences to expect a gimmick at every turn, and eventually drained the gimmick of its charge. Designers seem to have noticed. This fashion month leaned instead on atmosphere and craftsmanship, trusting that a strong enough tableau doesn’t need a punchline to travel online.

Paris Sets the Tone for Fashion Month

Nowhere was that recalibration clearer than in Paris, the traditional closing chapter of fashion month and often its most theatrical. Valentino staged its show inside the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève, turning a literal library into a runway, complete with reading desks lining the front row. The guest list read like a casting call for a prestige ensemble film — Naomi Watts, Colman Domingo, Cynthia Erivo and Alexander Skarsgård among those watching Alessandro Michele’s maximalist, jewel-toned silhouettes glide past shelves of books. It was ornate without being loud, a visual argument that spectacle doesn’t require a stunt, just conviction.

inline 19 scaled

Junya Watanabe, by contrast, kept the house tradition of surprise alive on the Comme des Garçons umbrella’s “Japan Day.” Lycra bodysuits, spiky breastplates and deconstructed biker leathers kept the usually composed front row genuinely startled — and genuinely delighted, especially when a visibly pregnant Ciara strutted the runway not once but three times, turning a presentation into a celebration.

Beyond the Runway: Fashion Month’s Side Shows

Some of the most memorable scenes this fashion month didn’t happen on a traditional runway at all. Christian Louboutin staged a full cabaret at Théâtre du Châtelet, with burlesque star Dita Von Teese spending nearly an hour suspended on wires, rotating atop a giant upturned stiletto heel while laced into a size-zero corset. It was equal parts endurance feat and homage — Von Teese has worn Louboutin’s signature red soles since discovering them in a department store in the 1990s — and it closed with the designer himself taking the stage, watched by Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Debicki and Milly Alcock.

Jewelry, too, claimed its own spotlight. Parisian house Messika used a packed Grand Palais runway to unveil its Terres de Contrasts haute joaillerie collection, inspired by the landscapes of Botswana, where many of its stones originate. Aquamarine blues evoking the Okavango Delta, burnt ochres nodding to the Kalahari, and mineral whites drawn from the Makgadikgadi Pans caught the light under the venue’s domed ceiling, proof that during fashion month, even accessories can headline.

What This Fashion Month Signals Going Forward

Taken together, these moments suggest fashion month is entering a phase less reliant on shock value and more invested in craft, narrative and star power used sparingly rather than as spectacle for its own sake. Front rows still matter — perhaps more than ever, since a well-placed celebrity can now carry a show’s online afterlife that a robot dog once did. But the clothes, and the rooms built around them, are being asked to do more of the talking.

If this fashion month is any indication, the industry hasn’t abandoned theater altogether; it’s just gotten more selective about where to spend it. A library, a cabaret stage, a gemstone-lit palace — each was a deliberate setting rather than a shock tactic, and each left a stronger impression than any airbrushed dress or surprise mascot might have managed. For an industry often accused of chasing its own tail in search of the next viral clip, that restraint may be the most surprising twist fashion month had to offer.

What Skincare Products Do You Rave About to Your Friends?

What skincare products do you rave about to your friends — especially when you’re trying to boil things down to the easiest routine possible? What specialty products do you and your friends randomly discover you all swear by?

This came up a few days ago when I was chatting with a few friends. Friend #1, slightly younger, was asking about forehead lines… and before I knew it we were having a great discussion about skincare in general. I thought it might be fun to round up a few of the products I recommend to friends — but I’d love to hear yours!

(By the way: Friend #2 says Frownies are THE thing to use for forehead lines… I’ve never tried them. Have you guys?)

We’ve talked a lot about beauty over the years, including a great discussion on beauty empties (products we actually finish), which beauty products we can’t live without, specific makeup shades we’ve worn for ages, how I deal with dark circles under my eyes, and easy makeup products to keep at your desk — and we’ve also had a great discussion on plastic surgery.

Meanwhile, check out some of our most popular posts on beauty, including how to style long hair for interviews, the best nail colors for work, and the best lip tints for work, and how to make a blowout last for days.

Skincare Basics: Tretinoin, Vitamin C, and Sunscreen

I have learned this from the readers long ago and honestly have mostly trusted you guys on this. (OK, my dermatologist also has a say, but she’s always just said “tretinoin” to all my requests about peptides and so forth.)

I get a prescription tretinoin from my derm (Obagi brand, I think), and often use the Obagi Vitamin C as well. For my sunscreen I’ve been using Missha’s Soft Finish — it’s like a powdery finish, I love it! — but I alternate between different brands based on what I’ve got on hand. (I can’t find a good link to it right now, alas.)

I only use tretinoin at night (and honestly not even every night, I could be a lot better about it).

My Favorite Exfoliators

I also stressed to my friend that you really need to use a good chemical exfoliator on a regular basis. My skin gets a bit ashy without it, and immediately after the treatment my skin glows.

My favorite exfoliators are these guys from The Ordinary (AHA/BHA), Drunk Elephant, Sunday Riley, and The Ordinary (glycolic).

  • The Ordinary: I use this one if I only have 5 minutes or less before a shower, so this one is probably my MOST used.
  • Drunk Elephant’s BabyFacial: My favorite, but requires 20 minutes… and no more. I lost track of time while on a phone call with a friend one night and 50 minutes later hooo it burned.
  • Sunday Riley’s Good Genes: Another favorite, but I only use it if I’m intentionally putting something on my face before bed that ISN’T tretinoin. It’s a relatively gentle but effective overnight treatment.
  • The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid: bonus mention because I don’t use this on my face so much as my scalp maybe once a month over winter… I’ve also heard people say it’s good for feet!

(I’ve also taken a more in-depth look to compare and contrast Drunk Elephant and Sunday Riley.)

The Moisturizer I’m Obsessed With

I have been trying a LOT of moisturizers lately — facial, body, whatever. This is the one that I’m obsessed with and getting as a stocking stuffer for all of my female relatives this Christmas

Gold Bond Age Renew Retinol Overnight Body & Face LotionGold Bond Age Renew Retinol Overnight Body & Face Lotion
Gold Bond

I put this Gold Bond cream on more religiously than my tretinoin! I switch off my bedside light and put this all over my hands, elbows, and any other particularly dry patches. The next morning when I wash my hands I still notice it! One of my friends was saying it’s also great for those little KP bumpies you get on your upper arms. I also really really like their neck & chest cream. (I hate the term turkey neck, but… yeah, it helps with that.)

Bonus mention because I just started using it: but I’ve tried a lot of cuticle creams over the years and this Dior one is really thick and buttery. I don’t love the scent, but la di dah.

OK one more: this Neosporin lip balm isn’t fancy at all but it’s been my favorite overnight lip balm for close to 15 years… it’s my go-to for chapped lips and beyond.

Readers, what are the skincare treatments, serums, and moisturizers that you recommend to friends?

Christophe Guillarme Spring 2027: Disco Glamour Meets Suspiria at Paris Fashion Week

Christophe Guillarme returned to his signature address — the same nightclub at 9 rue de Lappe in Bastille — for another Spring 2027 outing, this time drawing from the hypnotic world of Dario Argento’s “Suspiria.” Outside, the rain fell; inside, disco balls spun and the collection brought its own electric charge.

The mood was Barbie-does-the-witching-hour: playful hair, saturated pastels, and a soundtrack of disco pulsing beneath the room’s baroque, cinematic lighting. Shirt dresses stood out throughout, some finished with sparkling embellishment and sheer tulle overlays, others built from softer sheeting with delicate detailing. Leaf-shaped embellishments recurred as a motif, while tailored suits caught the light in scattered crystals.

The more classic silhouettes were there too — butter yellow prom dresses, several embellished, many finished with ruffles — alongside a standout mint green Grecian gown in layered, fluid fabric.

The palette moved through white, pink, yellow, lilac, champagne, red, peach, teal, and periwinkle, with looks falling mostly floor-length. Accessories leaned into the fantasy: jeweled sandals, bejeweled earrings, clutches, and what may be a new mini bag line rounding out the presentation.

Glitter, satin, sequins, and mirrored surfaces enhanced the disco spirit throughout — proof that Guillarme’s world of mysterious, magnetic glamour is only getting more confident with each season.

There is a lot of good buzz around Ralph Lauren’s new line for bags, and particularly this bag… and I can see why. I like the interesting curved flap and the interior zip pocket… and I appreciate the thoughtful details, like a flat base for stability, magnetic snap-flap closure, and comfortably long shoulder straps.

The red is gorgeous, IMHO, but also available in black and brown (all smooth leather) for $598 at Nordstrom and other retailers. There’s also a smaller version and a larger version.

Inside the Swift-Kelce Wedding: The Fashion Moment That Stole the Show

Published

on

wedding fashion

When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce exchanged vows at Madison Square Garden this past summer, the night produced plenty of headlines: Paul McCartney crooning “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” Stevie Nicks and Avril Lavigne taking the stage, and an impromptu karaoke set from guests like Sabrina Carpenter and Tim McGraw. But three months later, it’s the wedding fashion from that night that continues to dominate conversation, proving that even amid rock-star cameos, what everyone wore mattered just as much as who sang.

McCartney himself recently revisited the evening on Jimmy Kimmel Live, recalling how Swift personally asked him to perform her chosen track and how he nudged her to sing along to her new husband. It’s a charming anecdote, but it’s also a reminder of just how meticulously curated the entire event was — down to the last stitch of fabric on the bride and her famous guest list.

A Bridal Fashion Statement for the Ages

At the center of it all was Swift’s custom Dior Haute Couture gown, designed by Jonathan Anderson in his first bridal moment since taking the creative reins at the storied French house. While full photos of the dress have remained tightly guarded, the glimpses that have emerged suggest a design built for maximum drama inside an arena as iconic as Madison Square Garden. For a couple who turned a sports venue into a fairytale backdrop, the gown needed to carry the same theatrical weight — and by all accounts, it delivered.

inline 3

That single dress has already become a touchstone in modern wedding fashion, reigniting interest in haute couture bridal wear at a moment when many brides have gravitated toward minimalist, ready-to-wear-inspired looks. Anderson’s involvement, fresh off his high-profile Dior appointment, only intensified scrutiny of every detail, from silhouette to fabric choice.

The Guests Brought Their Own Red Carpet

If the bride set the tone, the guest list ran with it. Dakota Johnson turned heads in a sheer gown that pushed the boundaries of traditional wedding-guest etiquette, while Zoë Kravitz opted for a strikingly short mini dress, proving that formal celebrations no longer demand floor-length restraint. Together, their choices became shorthand for where wedding fashion is heading: bolder, more personal, and less beholden to convention.

Those looks were widely dissected online in the days following the ceremony, with style commentators pointing to both Johnson’s and Kravitz’s outfits as evidence that celebrity guests are increasingly using weddings as their own runway moments, rather than deferring entirely to the bride’s aesthetic.

Why This Wedding Became a Style Blueprint

Part of what makes the Swift-Kelce wedding such a reference point in wedding fashion circles is the sheer density of famous names involved, each photographed, analyzed, and compared. Between the custom couture, the sheer and mini dress trend among attendees, and the surprise musical performances happening in full designer regalia, the event functioned less like a private ceremony and more like a fashion week showcase with vows attached.

It also underscores a broader shift in how celebrity weddings are consumed by the public. Audiences are no longer satisfied with just a bride-and-groom photo; they want the full style breakdown — who wore what, which designer dressed whom, and how guests balanced personal expression with wedding-appropriate dress codes. The Swift-Kelce event delivered all of that in spades, giving fashion writers months of material long after the final song had been sung.

Even McCartney’s lighthearted retelling of the night, focused on music rather than clothing, inadvertently reinforced just how layered the event was. A wedding that could produce a Beatles performance and a Dior debut in the same evening was always destined to leave its mark — not just on pop culture, but on the trajectory of wedding fashion itself.

As more details trickle out in the months ahead, from additional guest looks to perhaps a full reveal of Swift’s gown, one thing seems certain: this wedding has set a new benchmark for what celebrity wedding fashion can look like, blending couture craftsmanship with the kind of individual, rule-bending choices that are increasingly defining how the next generation celebrates its biggest milestones.
