In recent years, there has been a growing mix of bars and independent businesses that has boosted the night time economy in Atherton.
From the Snug to the Cabinet, and the Plaza to Carmen, one of the first businesses that kicked this trend off was Curiosity Liquor Emporium, which is still going strong despite the cost of living challenges and decline in daytime footfall along Market Street.

Inside the Market Street venue (Image: Leigh Journal) Launched as a city centre style venue in 2018, Curiosity is an intimate bar with a focus on spirits and high-quality cocktails.
In addition to the bar’s wide selection of drinks, there is a mouth-watering food menu consisting of hearty breakfasts, eggs benedict, and pancakes, as well as pizza, burgers, and wraps.
Curiosity’s Sunday roasts and bottomless brunch options are also big hits, and the bar hosts live singers and DJs over the weekend to encourage customers to the venue and create a lively atmosphere.
Open from Thursdays to Sundays, this wide business offer helps to offset the difficulties facing some Market Street businesses during the week due to a drop off in footfall.

“We have live entertainment at the weekends and we see a lot of regulars and people coming here from different areas.
“We have a good relationship with our team and customers so things are going well, I love it.”
