Bury police crack down on tram network crime in ‘successful operation’
The units were raided after as part of an ongoing investigation after a warrant this was executed in Bury earlier this month as part of Operation AVRO.
(Image: GMP) Enquiries led to the two units and the vehicles, which police believe many have been used in criminal activities.
DS Craig Murray from our Bury Challenger team said: “This is a prime example of when one thing potentially leads to another and due to investigative work and enquiries we have uncovered further items we believe could have been used or related to crime.
“Following finding the 14 high-powered vehicles, it means we have seized these, taken them off the streets and allows us to progress our enquiries further.
(Image: GMP) “Our work is ongoing into criminality that can have devastating impacts on communities across Bury, including the use of vehicles such as this in anti-social and dangerous ways, and would urge members of the public to continue to submit any information they have direct to 101 or through Crimestoppers, as that allows us to build a picture to ensure we can keep people safe.”
Two people were arrested as a result of the warrant executed earlier this month – but no arrests have been made in connection with today’s raid.
A 25-year-old man was originally charged with drugs offences and has been remanded in custody and a 51-year-old woman remains on bail pending further investigation.
