The five veterans will begin their endurance challenge next month as part of the Bolton Wanderers in the Community 10K and will be carrying heavy weighted Bergens.
The team from Pheniks Division CIC at Elite Community Hub will be taking on the test to help raise money for mental health support services for veterans and their families.
Pheniks Division founder Hughie Benson said: “Veterans supporting veterans, that’s what this is about.
“Many fight battles long after they leave the battlefield.

“Too many veterans suffer in silence, struggling with mental health challenges, transition to civilian life, and a lack of ongoing support.”
“The funds raised will directly support mental health awareness sessions specifically tailored to veterans and their families, providing much-needed resources and support for those who have served their country.”
The team are members of the Pheniks Division CIC which operated from the renowned Elite Community Hub boxing gym on Wordsworth Street in Halliwell.
The centre runs a range of community programmes and events and in recent years has become well known as the gym where Olympic heroine Cyndi Ngamba got her start.
The boxing club works with people across all age groups, while the Pheniks Division has held previous events aimed at helping veterans.
The five veterans “TAB”, meaning tactical advance into battle, will involve carrying the heavy weighted Bergens, making their endurance test even more challenging.
They say that the Bergens are meant to represent the mental health burden many soldiers carry after leaving the armed forces.
