Coronation Street icon to make return to beloved ITV show

» Coronation Street’s Ellie Leach lands role on Channel 5 show

The 24-year-old actress, who is well known for playing Faye Windass on the ITV soap opera, became an even bigger name after winning the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

She played the role of Faye from 2011 until her departure in 2023, a move that left her “gutted”.

However, the Coronation Street icon looks set to reunite with two former co-stars for a brand new series of The Good Ship Murder on Channel 5.

Recently, Ellie was captured in a snap alongside Catherine Tyldesley and Shayne Ward as well as other members of the popular show.

Sharing the picture on social media, Catherine wrote: “Strong lineup last night.”

Soon after this pic was shared, Ellie released another image of herself in sunny Malta.

While nothing has been confirmed, images of the former ITV star donning summer gear and sunglasses have sparked rumours that she will be the latest edition to the show.

This comes after an extended absence from acting after her exit from Corrie in 2023.

At the time, a TV insider told The Sun: “Ellie’s been on the soap since she was 10 years old so it’s all she’s known, she sees the cast like an extension of her family.

“She’s sad to be leaving, but grateful that her character won’t be killed off.

“She’s going to have a go at trying other acting roles for a bit.”

After this, it was reported that she was flogging old clothes online after being left “unemployed”.
