It comes as the cost of a standard British passport is also set to rise from April 10 by 7%.
For example, the cost of an online passport application for adults will jump from £88.50 to £94.50, while fees for child passports will rise from £57.50 to £61.50.

Gov.uk explained: “An ETD lets you travel from abroad if you need to travel urgently and cannot use your British passport.
“It is usually only valid for one single or return journey.
“The new fee includes the cost of couriering the emergency travel document to you. Previously, this was an additional separate cost.
“Emergency passports are issued in exceptional circumstances, usually when an ETD cannot be issued.”
When will cost of UK emergency passport and travel documents rise?
The fee increase for emergency passports and travel documents will increase on Wednesday, April 9, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has confirmed.
Do I Need Travel Insurance?
The fee increases this month are as follows:
- Administering an application for, and if successful providing, an emergency travel document (in addition to direct costs, if any) – from £100 to £125
- Exceptionally, administering an application for, and, if successful, providing an emergency passport, on occasions when it is not possible to provide an emergency travel document (in addition to direct costs, if any) – from £75 to £125.
