Millwall head coach Alex Neil says his side will head to Turf Moor full of belief ahead of their crucial final-day clash with Burnley.
The Lions famously handed the Clarets one of only two defeats they have suffered in the Championship this season, with Jake Cooper’s header sealing a 1-0 win at The Den back in November. Burnley have since gone unbeaten in 32 league matches.
Speaking after Millwall’s 1-0 victory over Swansea, Neil emphasised the importance of that earlier success.
“What it will do for the players is give the players confidence, it will give them belief going there,” said Neil. “The fact is we are in good form and even when we aren’t quite at our best — which I didn’t think we were today — we still managed to win. We found a way to win the game.”
Neil praised his players’ resilience and the quality of their recent performances, adding that they will need to maintain their high standards against a Burnley side that have already secured promotion to the Premier League but remain in a fight for the Championship title with Leeds United.
“We are very pleased with what we have done,” he continued. “I’ve been really impressed with what the players have done since I’ve come here. They are an unbelievable group to work with. But, as I say to them, we still have one more game to go.”
