Cops have launched a murder investigation after a man was knifed to death in Mitcham last night.
Police were called to a home in Maple Close alongside London Ambulance Service crews at around 7.30pm.
A 39-year-old man was treated at the scene for stab injuries. He was taken to hospital where he died.
The attacker remains on the loose with no arrests made as cops undertake urgent enquiries into the incident.
It is understood the victim and the suspect were known to each other, police said.
A heavy police presence remains in the area with patrols stepped up to offer reassurance to residents.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, from Specialist Crime South – who is leading the investigation – said: “The victim’s loved ones are being supported by specially trained officers. They have our deepest sympathies following this terrible loss.
