There has been some scrappy stuff early in Brisbane but the Cowboys have gone close to scoring here, with John Bateman chasing down a grubber kick, getting past Ben Hunt and reaching down to get his hand to the ball – but he’s batted it back rather than forcing it to the turf, and Brisbane prop Payne Haas swoops on the loose ball and forces it down.
It’s a drop-out and the Cowboys take it, with yet another raid on the Broncos’ tryline. Can they open the scoring here? No they can’t. Some excellent defence from Brisbane denies Jake Clifford on the last, and the Broncos take it out from their own end – against some very aggressive defence from the Cowboys big men.
