The shopper purchased a Taste the Difference Belgian Dark Chocolate Easter Egg with Sea Salt from Sainsbury’s but was left scratching their head upon weighing the holiday treat.
The Easter egg is supposed to be 230g, but upon weighing the Sainsbury’s chocolate, it was found to only weigh 140g.
The customer posted a photo of their find on Reddit group r/mildlyinfuriating, commenting: “Sainsburys egg is 60% its advertised weight.”

Shoppers were quick to comment on the Reddit post, shocked by the weight of the Sainsbury’s Easter egg.
One person said: “That’s simply illegal to be so far of[f], at least by EU standards it is. Not sure how that flies now in the UK.”
Another added: “This has seriously given me trust issues. I’m gonna start weighing my Easter eggs.”
A third person posted: “Taking the p**s given they charge you £10 for it.”

The supermarket chain also confirmed the shopper affected has now returned the Easter egg and purchased another one that is the correct weight.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We’re sorry that this isolated example has not met our usual high standards and are urgently investigating this with our supplier.
“We can reassure our customers that there are processes in place to prevent this from happening and we haven’t received any other complaints of this nature for our Taste the Difference Belgian Dark Chocolate Easter Egg with Sea Salt.”
