The rider’s death came hours after a 57-year-old man was killed after a car allegedly hit him in Mount Druitt. The one-year-old child he was carrying was critically injured, police said.

Around 7.45pm on Thursday, police were called to Carlisle Avenue, where they found the man suffering life-threatening injuries. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him, but he died at the scene.

A short time later, a man, believed to be the one-year-old’s father, took the child to Mount Druitt Hospital. The child was transferred to Westmead Children’s Hospital, where they remain, in a critical condition, police said.

The driver of the car, a 37-year-old woman, was taken to Mount Druitt Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing and is assisting police with inquiries into the 57-year-old man’s death.

A crime scene has been established on Carlisle Avenue, and anyone with information about the crash or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
