Parts of the north west are expected to be used for filming, much like in the first series, which saw the cast shoot in Greater Manchester.
Starring Peaky Blinders star Sophie Rundle, Bodyguard’s Matt Stokoe and more, the ITV drama will see new and returning cast members.
The likes of Alun Armstrong (Breeders, Sherwood) and Jill Halfpenny (The Red King, The Long Shadow) will join the cast in the second series.
Sharing a post to Instagram, Manchester-based production company Quay Street Productions revealed that “filming is underway” for “AFTER THE FLOOD S2.”
The second series finds newly promoted detective Jo Marshall (Sophie Rundle) on the trail of a baffling new murder investigation.
As tensions simmer in Waterside amid the rising threat of moorland fires and the subsequent risk of further flooding, a body is discovered in bizarre circumstances.
Jo’s race to stop the killer brings her into direct conflict with dark and influential forces within the town, ultimately drawing her into an investigation that becomes deeply personal.
One that will require her to operate in secret if she is to have any hope of rooting out the corruption that has blighted the town’s police force, and her own family, for decades.
After the Flood filming locations
Series one was filmed “in and around Manchester”, according to the Radio Times.
Locations used for filming in the first series of After the Flood included:
- Market Hall, Stockport
- Barton Bridge near the Trafford Centre, Manchester
- Glossop, Derbyshire
- Tees Barrage White Water Centre, Stockton-on-Tees
Filming for series two has now begun with After the Flood returning to the north.
ITV confirmed the six-part thriller would return to Greater Manchester and Derbyshire for filming so viewers might spot some familiar locations once again.
So far, filming crews have been seen at Oldham’s Tandle Hill Country Park with temporary closures of the car park and country park being enforced while filming took place this month.
