Paramount+ has announced the GTL lifestyle is getting a makeover, with casting underway for a Canadian spinoff of MTV’s long-running hit reality series Jersey Shore.

Producers are looking for Canadians between the ages of 19 and 26. “Paramount+ in Canada is looking for 10 fresh-faced, unapologetically wild Canadian singletons who embody the ‘Shores’ spirit. Together, they’ll unite to make one big, imperfect family, ready to experience the most unforgettable, unfiltered summer of their lives,” a press release reads.

Applicants have to submit a three-minute video of themselves and have memorable answers to questions like, “What is one of your most wild party stories?” and “How would you describe your dating life?”

The search for cast members continues until April 30.

Including the upcoming Canadian version, the Jersey Shore format has now spawned 18 spinoffs, with recent additions being Aussie Shore and Frenchie Shore.

“Canadians may have a reputation for being polite, but we can be just as feisty, loud, dramatic, and unapologetic as anyone else,” says showrunner Erin Brock.

“Canadians have loved this fun, shocking, and authentic format since Jersey Shore first debuted in 2009,” Vanessa Case, Vice President of Content at Paramount+ and Pluto TV Canada, continued. “We’re confident audiences will embrace this Canadian iteration, with its larger-than-life personalities, raw drama, and those unforgettable moments that define what becoming a Shore family is all about.”

“We are incredibly proud of how the Shores franchise continues to expand around the world,” added Kelly Bradshaw, EVP, MTV Entertainment Group. “Each new series is a testament to this tried-and-true format’s global appeal, inviting new, local viewers into the Shores universe whilst enticing long-standing fans back for a fresh take on it — and we’re sure Canada won’t disappoint.”

The original Jersey Shore debuted in 2009 and turned its 20-something stars — including Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, Jenni ‘JWoww’ Farley, Paul ‘DJ Pauly D’ DelVecchio, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Samantha ‘Sammi Sweetheart’ Giancola, Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, Angelina Pivarnick and Deena Nicole Cortese — into household names thanks to their wild antics.

Last year, Snooki recalled one of the series’ most memorable scenes when she drunkenly ran around a boardwalk in New Jersey asking “Where’s the beach?” and police arrested her.

“I woke up that day, and I was drinking nonstop,” Polizzi recalled on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast. “So you know when you wake up and you feel like the shakes are coming? You’re like, ‘I’m going to s—, I’m going to throw up, but I have to be on camera and I have to go (to) this shift,’ so I woke up still in my party dress, with my blanket on, walking to my shift.”

The mother of three said she continued drinking so she could “just to start feeling better, and then I just didn’t stop.”

But Polizzi maintained that she knew where the beach was all along. “My drunk self was like, ‘How do I get on the beach?’ There’s only a certain amount of entries to get on the beach. I couldn’t find them anywhere, so I was like, ‘Where’s the beach? How do I get on the beach?’ And the guy’s like, ‘Right there,’ and I’m like, ‘I know, moron. How do I get on the beach?’”

Polizzi, who filmed six seasons of Jersey Shore and appeared in several spinoffs, including Jersey Shore: Family Vacation and Snooki & Jwoww with Farley, told the Today show that she was surprised the show proved to be so popular.

“When we first did the show, we thought it was just going to be a one season thing and done,” the 37-year-old said in a 2023 interview.
