The footage shared on 6ixBuzzTV shows shows a man grabbing fistfuls of frozen French fries and putting them in a cardboard container, presumably to dump the correct amount of the order into a nearby fryer.
However, the video cuts out before the worker does that, as a woman’s voice can be heard muttering, “This is disgusting. Disgusting.”
The site credited TiKTok user @Buffyfit but the video appears to have been deleted from her account.
People took to the comments to side with the employee, with only some people thinking the act was “gross,” while another joked, “giving it extra toiletry seasoning.”
However, many optimistically assumed the man had washed his hands prior to handling the fries.

“Washing the hands is the important part,” one person wrote. “That said: If you feel like the people who are serving you are so unhygienic they need to wear gloves and/or masks, you should probably eat elsewhere. It’s likely the surfaces and kitchen are as dirty as the hands.”
Another asked: “It’s how food is prepared in restaurants. Your Caesar chicken wrap had someone’s hand on it.”
A third person noted of the fries, “They’re frozen and haven’t been deep fried yet. Still gross to see but the chances of any bacteria or virus surviving hot grease is highly unlikely.”
Another commenter pointed out, “It is very normal for people to prepare food with bare hands in most restaurants,” noting that “gloves do not reduce contamination” but “actually increase it.”

They added: “When someone regularly washes their hands, it is better than them wearing gloves, which don’t get washed, but all sorts of things are touched with those gloves.”

A Peel Public Health spokesperson said in a statement to the Toronto Sun, “While it would have been more appropriate for the employee to handle the fries using utensils such as tongs, gloves are not mandatory for handling food.”
It added that “it is mandatory for food handlers to wash their hands before touching or preparing food” — even when an individual is wearing gloves.
However, the agency noted: “In all cases, food handlers should do what they can to avoid touching food and use utensils.”
While the restaurant’s location is unclear based on the video, if a member of the public has a concern, they can call or email Peel Public Health and any complaints will be followed up.
Pizza Pizza reviewed the video and told the Sun: “Staff using clean hands to prepare food is normal procedure in restaurants as per public health regulations.”
The pizza chain noted: “In this case, the fries were being portioned prior to being cooked in a deep fryer.”
