Car battery fire prompts day-long response on Smethurst Lane Bolton

One fire engine from Bolton Central Fire Station attended the incident on Smethurst Lane.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 11.30am this morning, one fire engine from Bolton Central fire station was called to reports of a vehicle fire involving a car battery.

“The crew arrived quickly at the scene.

Firefighters carried out safety checks and are continuing to cool the battery and monitor the temperature with a thermal imaging camera.

 “Firefighters have been in attendance throughout the day carrying out safety checks on the vehicle.”

Footage shared with The Bolton News showed traffic moving freely past the incident.
