Police warning after intruder discovered in York home
North Yorkshire Police said officers were called to a property on Stockton Lane at 2.49am on Tuesday, September 15, following a report from the resident.

A force spokesperson said the man made off immediately on being discovered.
“It is believed the intruder gained entry via an insecure door to the property, and we are warning residents to remain vigilant and ensure they secure doors and windows overnight,” the police spokesperson added.
A North Yorkshire Police description of the man is a white male, short, in his forties, with balding dark hair, clean shaven and wearing a dark top and trousers.
