Porto vs Man City highlights and reaction as Erling Haaland seals win with late second

Porto head coach Francesco Farioli believes both Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol were fortunate to not be sent off during Manchester City’s 2-0 win in the Champions League. Erling Haaland scored twice at the start and end of the second half to secure three points for the Blues. However, Farioli felt the game hinged on two decisions during the game. The first came during the opening 45 minutes when Marc Guehi collided with Gabri Veiga, leaving the Porto midfielder covered in blood. Replays showed that City’s defender caught Veiga with his elbow but no further action was taken.

In the second half, Gvardiol was quickly replaced by Abdukodir Khusanov having skirted close to receiving a second yellow card. Asked initially about whether City were lucky to have 11 men still on the pitch at half time following the Guehi incident, Farioli told Prime Video: “Yeah, I think so from the matches that I saw, I believe a card could have been given. Of course, in that moment, it is a red.”
