Teen 'shoots dead pregnant girlfriend, 16, and leaves her friends fighting for life after he told her to kill the baby'

A “CONTROLLING” teenager has been accused of shooting dead his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn child.

The horror killing in Arizona also saw two others seriously wounded and fighting for their lives in intensive care.

Pregnant Rylee Montgomery, 16, died at the scene while her 17-year-old friend, also pregnant, and a 22-year-old woman were rushed to hospital.

Police have named 18-year-old Michael Sanchez, who had been in an on-again off-again relationship with Rylee, as their prime suspect.

The Buckeye Police Department ran in on the horror scene at 8:15pm on Thursday, May 14.

They said they found “three female victims suffering from gunshot wounds” on Elwood St in Buckeye.

Two men were spotted running from the horror attack before officers arrived.

“Over the next few hours, investigators worked to identify the suspected shooter as 18-year-old Michael Sanchez, who was in a romantic relationship with Montgomery”, confirmed Buckeye police in a post on Facebook.

He is now being held in Maricopa County jail on two counts of first-degree murder.

Sanchez had previously threatened violence against Rylee if she did not “kill the baby” she carried in her womb, according to the victim’s stepmother.

Rylee’s step mum, Amy, claimed on GoFundMe that Sanchez was “controlling”.

“He started off very sweet and nice to her. Once he got her pregnant in February, it was all over”, she said.

“When she broke up with him in March, he decided to point a gun at her face and told her she wasn’t allowed”.

According to Amy, he also sent her photos of himself holding a gun to his head with the message “I’ll get you”.

Rylee reported the disturbing threats to the police – and just three hours before she was killed, according to her stepmother.

The family had contacted police several times in the run up to Rylee’s death – but were largely ignored, claimed Amy.

She believes Sanchez planned to murder her daughter in cold blood.

“He took it upon himself to travel over 20 miles to where she was and shoot them all. Her friend was shot 3 times. Abby was shot in the back and nearly bled out.”

Abby – believed to be Rylee’s pregnant pal – was forced to deliver her baby boy at 25 weeks.

The identity of the third woman who was shot is unclear.

Step mum Amy also revealed that Rylee would have given birth to a baby girl whom the family have named Erica Kathleen, after Rylee’s grandmother.

At the time of the murder, Sanchez was already being watched by the police.

The 18-year-old was wearing an ankle monitor for crashing his car in a road rage incident in March.

Domestic abuse – how to get help

DOMESTIC abuse can affect anyone – including men – and does not always involve physical violence.

Here are some signs that you could be in an abusive relationship:

  • Emotional abuse – Including being belittled, blamed for the abuse – gaslighting – being isolated from family and friends, having no control over your finances, what you where and who you speak to
  • Threats and intimidation – Some partners might threaten to kill or hurt you, destroy your belongings, stalk or harass you
  • Physical abuse – This can range from slapping or hitting to being shoved over, choked or bitten.
  • Sexual abuse – Being touched in a way you do not want to be touched, hurt during sex, pressured into sex or forced to have sex when you do not consent.

If any of the above apply to you or a friend, you can call these numbers:

Remember, you are not alone.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic abuse over the course of their lifetime.

Every 30 seconds the police receive a call for help relating to domestic abuse.

14 arrested after Celtic title victory as two officers seriously injured

Police arrested 14 people during Celtic title party chaos in Glasgow as officers called on the club to “be more accountable”.

Police Scotland’s Assistant Chief Constable Mark Sutherland said two officers were injured during disorder in the Trongate, while three members of the public were either injured or suffered medical episodes.

Of the two injured officers one cop has suffered a “significant” facial injury and the other has been left severely bruised.

‘Influencer’ unmasked as sex offender makes new social media account claiming to be journalist

A travel “influencer” unmasked as a sex offender has wiped his social media – with new accounts in his name claiming he is a journalist.

Curtis Heighes had more than 60,000 followers across his Curtis Unchained profiles.

But he placed a blackout on the accounts after being found guilty of preying on a disabled woman in her home in 2023.

The 25-year-old has now deleted his Facebook account bar one picture, while new Facebook and Instagram pages bearing his name and purporting to be a journalist have been set up.

The new pages contain AI generated images of a news reporter and copy and pasted stories from real news outlets in his hometown of Bearsden, Dunbartonshire.

A source said: “It is scary to think someone can effectively wipe one life and start another online.”

Family of child rape victim fear attacker could be freed back into their community

The family of a child rape victim say they fear the attacker could be freed back to their community on release from prison this month.

Robert McGregor filmed himself raping three boys, aged three, six and 12, then shared the videos with other paedophiles online. The delivery driver from Inverness was jailed for 10 years in April 2017.

The family of one victim was notified by letter last week from the Scottish Prison Service, telling them that the 45-year-old is due to be released on May 29.

They are terrified of coming face to face with their son’s attacker as authorities would not confirm if McGregor will be allowed to return to their home town.

The mum said: “In November he was denied parole and the letter from the board stated he would be released in April 2027 so we thought we had a year. It turns out there was an error in the paperwork because they hadn’t taken into consideration his time on remand.”

Alex Marquez hospitalised after crash-strewn Catalonia MotoGP

Riders Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco were taken to hospital after high-speed crashes at the Catalonia MotoGP.

The race was twice red-flagged after incidents before eventually being won by Fabio di Giannantonio in Barcelona.

The Italian Ducati rider was able to take the flag at the third attempt from Joan Mir and Fermin Aldeguer.

Two big crashes stopped the race, with Marquez involved in a nasty accident when he ran into the back of Pedro Acosta.

Acosta was leading the race on lap 12 of 24 when his bike suddenly lost power on the straight and the Spaniard desperately tried to warn the riders behind him.

However, ‌second-placed Marquez had no time to react, hitting the back of ‌the KTM before he ‌and his Ducati bike went towards the wall and then cartwheeled through the air.

Marquez was taken away in ‌an ambulance and was not involved in the ‌restart, with his team Gresini Racing saying he was conscious.

Di Giannatonio was hit by debris in the crash but was able to restart – and win.

Former Moto2 champion Johann Zarco was also taken to hospital after crashing out of the restart, which triggered a second red flag.

Zarco will have tests on his left leg after he became tangled up in his bike.

“Today has not been an easy day for everybody. I really hope that Alex is fine,” Di Giannantonio said.

“We’ve been really lucky. We know that our sport is amazing. We try to give an amazing show, but also we are humans and we are in danger. So I really hope that everybody is safe.”

Reigning champion Marc Marquez – Alex’s brother – missed the race after fracturing his foot in France last weekend.

Michael Carrick reveals when Manchester United will provide ‘clarity’ over future

Michael Carrick said he expects his future to be clarified in the next few days after he saw Bruno Fernandes equal the Premier League’s single-season assists record in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.

Fernandes set up Bryan Mbeumo for United’s third of the afternoon, his 20th league assist of the season matching Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s record, as they hung on for a win that sealed third place.

Carrick then addressed the Old Trafford crowd, saying he hoped there were many more big moments, to come at the end of a week when he is understood to have reached broad agreement on a deal to remain in charge.

After the match, the 44-year-old said: “Over the coming days there’ll be clarity in the situation. Today what was important was the game and getting the right result, and about some individuals as well.

“Whatever news there is going to be, I’m sure you’ll get it in a few days.”

Luke Shaw fired United ahead and although Morato levelled early in the second half, Matheus Cunha quickly restored United’s advantage with a controversial goal.

Fernandes then set up Mbeumo for a third which proved vital as Morgan Gibbs-White got Forest back into it.

“I think he’s dealt with it really well,” Carrick said of Fernandes’ pursuit of the record. “Watching from the sides you’re thinking ‘What’s going through his head? Is he looking for the pass? Is he looking to score? Is he second-guessing it?’.

“I think he coped with it fantastically well. It was a really nice moment for everybody and credit to him.”

United announced after the match that full-back Tyrell Malacia would leave the club in the summer after an injury-hit four-year spell.

During the match a supporter near the directors box held up a sign towards United’s minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, criticising his stance on immigration, before having it removed by security.

Forest had fumed over the decision to allow Cunha’s goal to stand. The ball clearly struck Mbeumo’s arm before falling to Cunha but after being sent to the monitor by VAR Matthew Donahue, Michael Salisbury stuck with his decision to allow the goal.

“I’m very proud of my players because we got the points before the last two games,” Vitor Pereira said. “If the game was decided in this way and we needed the points to be safe, it would be a big, big problem!”

Pereira said Salisbury told him “the control with the hand was after the touch on the body” but the Portuguese insisted: “In my opinion, he touched the ball with his hand and the goal comes from the control. If not, they would not have had the chance to shoot and score.

“This is the doubt we have in the Premier League at the moment about these decisions. We don’t know what is handball or not. (Set-pieces), we don’t know what is a free-kick or not.

“I think it’s important to have a meeting and try to understand the rules, the decisions. In this moment, all managers have doubts about these decisions.”

Following reports Forest could offer Pereira a contract extension after speculation regarding yet another coaching change Pereira, who has a year left on his deal, said: “We’re planning next season together.

“Of course this speculation is normal but I think we did good work together.”

Bolton mayor leads Civic Sunday parade and service

Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, of Great Lever, stepped into the spotlight once again as crowds gathered in the town centre for a long-standing tradition.

Councillors, cadets, church leaders and residents lined the streets as the new Mayor of Bolton led his first Civic Sunday parade following his inauguration earlier this week.

The procession began in Victoria Square shortly after 10.35 am before making its way through the town centre towards Bolton Parish Church for a civic service attended by councillors, honoured guests and members of the public.

Cllr Iqbal said: “My Mayoress and I are delighted that so many people have joined us here to share this special day.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for coming along to show your support; it really means so much to both of us.”

Members of the public from all over showed up, including Phil and Sam Cunningham, who went for their child in the cadets.

They said: “We’re very proud. Our son joined the Sea Cadets when he was 12; he’s now in the Royal Navy and 20 at the moment. This would be my daughter’s last parade.

Cadets marched in formation behind the mayoral party as the procession travelled along Hotel Street, Deansgate and Churchgate before arriving at the parish church.

The service began with a hymn and welcome from Rev Hannah Lane before prayers, readings and an address from the Bishop of Bolton, The Right Reverend Dr Matthew Porter.

A collection was also held during the service in support of the mayor’s chosen charities.

How do you pronounce Goathland in North Yorkshire Moors?

How do you pronounce Goathland in North Yorkshire Moors?

Visitors frequently say “Goat-land” when referring to the village, but it sounds similar to “gowth·luhnd” with the emphasis on the first syllable.

Nestled in the North York Moors, Goathland has become a destination in its own right.

It is described by reviewers as “full of character” and “steeped in nostalgia,” blending moorland scenery with a heritage that draws thousands of visitors each year.

At the heart of its appeal is Goathland Railway Station, part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and a filming location for Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter films.

Goathland (Image: CONTRIBUTOR)

The village also featured prominently in ITV’s long-running drama Heartbeat, which aired from the early 1990s until 2010.

The show was set in the fictional Yorkshire village of Aidensfield and used several real locations in Goathland, including The Goathland Hotel, known on screen as The Aidensfield Arms, Goathland Garage Gifts, used as Scripps Garage, Aidensfield Stores, and the railway station.

Visitors who pause on their journey to explore the village discover what many describe as “the history, the quirky character and the community spirit that shapes this scenic spot.”

Sheep graze on the wide village green, and traditional stone cottages line its quiet streets, giving a glimpse of rural Yorkshire life.

Goathland’s story extends beyond television fame.

In the 19th century, it was known as a spa town, with visitors drawn to the 70-foot Mallyan Spout waterfall, which still attracts walkers today.

The village’s railway heritage runs deep.

The old line toward Grosmont was once used for George Stephenson’s early passenger steam trains and carried ironstone from the nearby mines.

Now, it serves as a peaceful woodland path for walkers.

The sound of steam trains remains a highlight for many.

Visitors often mention the “nostalgic huffing sound” of engines departing for Grosmont or Pickering, with one calling the experience “like stepping back to another era.”

Online, Goathland is frequently described as a “hidden gem” and a place that “feels untouched by time.”

For some, the main draw is the railway; for others, it’s the connection to Heartbeat or the magic of Harry Potter.

Even the way you say its name is part of its charm.

Mystery as Love Island's Yamen and Whitney 'reunite' days after shock split

LOVE Island stars Whitney Adebayo and Yamen Sanders may be back together just days after breaking up.

The pair first got together in the ITV All Stars villa in South Africa in January – finishing in fifth place – but their romance barely made it to the summer.

But it appears Whitney is now at Yamen’s apartment in the US thanks to some sleuthing by eagle-eyed Love Island fans.

People watching both Yamen and Whitney’s individual Snapchat videos have come to the conclusion the two are together.

They started by noticing a “gourmet” bacon and egg sandwich that appeared in both their Snaps, with Yamen dedicating an entire video to how tasty his was. While Whitney posted a photo of their two sandwiches side by side with the caption, “11:27am feels.”

Further to that, fans noticed that the skyline in the back of Whitney’s sandwich photo appeared identical to the view from Yamen’s apartment windows.

Then another piece of evidence the super sleuths seemed to spy was when Yamen briefly appeared in the back of one of Whitney’s videos.

In the Q&A with fans, Whitney was talking about her luggage from her flight had not arrived and she briefly scanned away from her face when Yamen was spotted.

The fans also suspected a bouquet of flowers Whitney posted a photo of may have been gifted to her from Yamen.

Some on TikTok that Yamen and Whitney have remained friends and that is why she is staying with him while in LA.

As long as Whitney Adebayo and Yamen Sanders are happy and this is not just ‘friendship flying points’…..then we are happy. I maintain this is a respected ‘friendship’, not a romantic relationship. You can still be friends with your ex……” wrote the Just Be Real TikTok account.

Speculation swirled of their break-up earlier this week after the couple were navigating a long-distance relationship.

Whitney was based in the UK while American footballer Yamen was in the US.

A source told me: “Whitney and Yamen did try and put everything into their relationship.

“But it has inevitably been tough to keep up their romance long-distance.

“Whitney has been spending more time with her girls and has been leaning on them while navigating her break-up.”

Earlier this week, Whitney was spotted on TikTok with fellow Love Island star Millie Court having a girly night in.

A drone strike has targeted the United Arab Emirates’ sole nuclear power plant, sparking a fire on its perimeter.

There were no reports of injuries or radiological release, but the strike has worried locals as the Iran ceasefire remains tenuous.

No one has immediately claimed responsibility for the targeted strike, and the UAE has not blamed anyone.

It has, however, accused Iran of launching multiple drone and missile attacks in recent days as tensions have risen over the Strait of Hormuz, a vital energy waterway that Iran still has in a chokehold.

This weekend, President Donald Trump suggested hostilities could resume as diplomatic efforts aimed at a more durable peace have repeatedly faltered.

Iranian state television has also repeatedly aired segments with anchors holding Kalashnikov-style rifles in an effort to prepare the public for war – including one segment, where the anchor fired directly at the UAE flag.

The 20 billion dollar Barakah nuclear power plant was built by the UAE with the help of South Korea and went online in 2020.

It is the first and only nuclear power plant in the Arab world and can provide a quarter of all the energy needs in the country.

The UAE’s nuclear regulator said the fire did not affect plant safety and confirmed that all units are operating normally.

The Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, said the strike caused a fire in an electrical generator and that one reactor was being powered by emergency diesel generators.

IAEA director-general Rafael Mariano Grossi expressed ‘grave concern’ about the incident and said military activity that threatens nuclear safety is unacceptable, the agency said in a statement.

Sunday’s strike marked the first time the four-reactor Barakah plant has been targeted in the war.

It is near the border with Saudi Arabia, some 140 miles west of the UAE’s capital city, Abu Dhabi.

Fighting has also heated up between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon despite a nominal ceasefire there.

Two police officers seriously injured after Celtic Trongate celebrations in Glasgow

Published

on

Daily Record

Riot cops were called in after missiles – including glass bottles – were launched in the direction of officers.

Two police officers have been left seriously injured following chaos in Glasgow during Celtic title celebrations.

Around 3,000 supporters flocked to the Trongate area following the club’s 3-1 Scottish Permiership victory over Hearts on Saturday afternoon. Riot cops were called in after missiles – including glass bottles – were launched in the direction of officers.

Some cops were targeted while they assisted with a medical emergency. The force has since confirmed that of the two injured officers, one cop suffered a “significant” facial injury during the carnage while the other was left severely bruised.

A total of 14 arrests have since been made – ten of which were related to Celtic fans gathering in the Trongate area following the match, while four were at the stadium itself. Three members of the public required hospital treatment.

Police say significant work remains ongoing around the disorder. Officers will be reviewing CCTV and capturing statements to identify those responsible.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Sutherland said: “The large majority of people at the Trongate yesterday were in a celebratory mood and simply wanted to support the victory of their team. However, we once again saw significant disorder and anti-social behaviour when police responded to a medical emergency within the crowd.

“A man was found unresponsive after taking unwell and continues to receive treatment in hospital. While dealing with this, our officers came under sustained attack from missiles and bottles, which resulted in two of them being seriously injured.

“I cannot condemn this behaviour strongly enough. It is completely unacceptable. Our officers must be kept safe when doing their job. They acted bravely, courageously and with the highest degree of professionalism throughout the event.

“They took decisive action, which was entirely appropriate, to clear those intent on violence and disorder, and make arrests. The minority of individuals involved will face the most robust action from Police Scotland and partners as we move forward. If you were involved in criminality, expect us to be knocking at your door.

“Once again, Police Scotland has been left holding the responsibility and accountability for supporters away from the stadium at the Trongate. We have strong and positive relationships with Celtic Football Club and Glasgow City Council on a day-to-day basis to keep people safe, but on this particular issue more must be done.

Celtic FC and football authorities, working with local authorities and Police Scotland, must take greater responsibility. This cannot happen again at any future celebrations.”

Police Scotland said it is currently engaging with Heart of Midlothian FC to establish if any of their players were assaulted after fans stormed the pitch at Celtic Park. The circumstances of the incident are being reviewed.

Four further arrests were also made in the vicinity of Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh in connection with breach of the peace, assault and robbery offences. A Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) has since been set up to encourage members of the public to submit information directly to officers.

Those with footage or photos of criminality from Parkhead or around the Trongate area to upload it using the online form here: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/SCOT26X10-PO1 Information can also be passed to Police Scotland via 101 quoting Operation Gristaline.
