Picking a baby name can feel like a big decision for new parents. Should it be classic, unusual, carry special meaning, or all three?

Recently, parents have been looking backwards for inspiration. Old-fashioned vintage names that once sounded outdated are making a comeback.

Names like Ronald and Lenny – once associated with grandparents and great-grandparents – are appearing on modern baby name lists again. With so many choices, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. To help, we’ve looked through Nameberry to highlight names that could become popular choices in 2026.

In their book Beyond Jennifer & Jason, Nameberry introduced the “100 Year Rule,” the idea that baby names tend to come back into fashion about a century later. But they now say that the pattern is changing.

Some of today’s popular baby names are returning much sooner, around 30 years ahead of schedule. Influencers and celebrities have recently chosen Baby Boomer-era names.

These “A-OK Boomer Names” are a new trend in baby naming. They take once-old-fashioned names from the 1950s and make them feel cool again.

Officers from the Bolton South Neighbourhood Team were patrolling Highfield area and stopped a vehicle in the Highfield area on Monday due to the ‘manner of driving.’

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “A vehicle was stopped due to the manner of driving and all the occupants were detained and searched by our A Relief Response Team under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

“He was found in possession of a large machete and arrested.”

Police also seized nitrous oxide cannisters from within the vehicle.

Inquiries are ongoing, according to Greater Manchester Police.

In all, GSC Grays says the property has about 598.05 acres (242.03 hectares).

It is for sale for £7.2million as a whole or in six lots, the agents added.

Bridges Fund Management and Opus North have completed a deal to let a 10,000 sq. ft. unit at their Harrogate 47 development, by the A1 (M) between Knaresborough and York to global business Restrain Company Limited (Restrain).

Restrain, a global leader in the potato storage industry, has agreed a 10-year term to lease the unit, which will become its new UK HQ.

The company says this move marks a return to the company’s roots, strengthening its presence in the UK while supporting its rapidly growing global operations.

The new facility features larger, modern premises for the firm designed to optimise operations and enhance distribution efficiency as its global network continues to expand.

The deal completes as construction works conclude on the first phase of development at Harrogate 47, with the delivery of circa 106,000 sq. ft. of speculatively developed Grade A, flexible business units.

Appointed contractor Stainforth Construction has completed two terraces of flexible business units ranging in size from 5,570-12,132 sq. ft., plus three detached units from 10,000-21,409 sq. ft. – one of which is now occupied by Restrain.

The units are situated on a 45-acre site near Harrogate at J47 of the A1(M) in North Yorkshire, which in total comprises more than 600,000 sq. ft. of employment space for industrial, logistics, hi-tech and office uses, as well as amenity uses, within a landscaped environment.

Planning permission was secured from the former Harrogate Borough Council for the low-carbon scheme, which is targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and has the potential to support 2,000 jobs.

The next phase of construction work is due to commence shortly, which will facilitate and service the next tranche of development.

One of the stars of Sky’s upcoming action thriller Prisoner has opened up about the challenges of working on the six-part series.

French actor Tahar Rahim revealed how he and his co-star Izuka Hoyle were handcuffed together during filming for four months.

Speaking about the challenges of filming while attached to his co-star, The Serpent actor explained: “Being handcuffed to someone for four months filming could easily be a nightmare, but Izuka is a beautiful soul.

“We got on incredibly well and became real friends. She’s my partner in crime. It was a pleasure.”

The pair star as highly valued prisoner and mafia informant Tibor Stone (Rahim) and prison transport officer Amber Todd (Hoyle) respectively.

“Our stunt team was brilliant and inventive, open to ideas and incredibly collaborative.

“Izuka and I had to constantly adapt and choreograph every movement together.

“Izuka has great instincts and she’s strong, which made everything easier. I decided to just flow with her and to treat it like a dance.

“For me, acting with a partner is a kind of dance: you listen, you feel, you respond.”

Meanwhile, Big Boys and Scottish BAFTA winner Hoyle explained: “Having them on made us realise just how close we were going to be to each other for such a long period of time, and that took some getting used to.

“Tahar is incredible. He’s physically fit, so in terms of us pushing each other, it was great.

“Our competitive streaks would come out… ‘We can go faster than that. We can do better than that. We can push harder than that.’ And we did. Everyone around us would be like, ‘F****g hell’.”

Police want to speak to these two women following an alleged robbery at a retail park.

It follows an incident at a businesses premises at Crown Point North in Denton, Tameside on April 21 when police say a pair threatened a member of staff after it is alleged items were placed under a pram.

Police today released an image of two women who ‘might be able to assist us with our inquiries’.

On its Facebook page, the Tameside division of Greater Manchester Police published brief details of the incident as well as the image and an appeal to the public for information.

The bulletin titled ‘can you help officers investigating a robbery in Denton?’ said: “We would like to speak to the two women pictured as we believe they might be able to assist us with our enquiries.

“On 21/04/2026 between 12.30pm and 12.50pm, two unknown women have entered a business premises at the Crown Point North Shopping Park on Worthington Way in Denton.

“As they walked around the store, they have placed a number of items underneath a pram before making their way to the exit. On their way out of the store, they become verbally aggressive and make threat of violence towards a staff member.
