Fiona Murray, Ripple’s Managing Director for APAC, just dropped a bombshell at TOKEN2049 Singapore: OVER 50% of Ripple’s global payment flows via digital assets route through Singapore — not the United States. When asked about US flows, Murray said they’re “not worth mentioning” by comparison. Singapore is the ENGINE of Ripple’s global business — and it has been since Ripple established its APAC headquarters there in 2017.

The numbers back it up. Ripple has processed over $70 BILLION in payments settled through XRP, stablecoins, and fiat currencies. Asia-Pacific on-chain activity is up 70% year-over-year, with Singapore at the center. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) expanded Ripple’s Major Payment Institution license in December 2025, allowing end-to-end cross-border payment solutions using XRP and RLUSD. Ripple also joined MAS’s BLOOM sandbox to pilot RLUSD for trade finance settlements on the XRPL — targeting the $9 trillion trade finance market.

Here’s why this is massive for XRP: while the US debates the CLARITY Act and regulatory frameworks, Singapore has ALREADY created the regulatory clarity that institutions need. Banks and fintechs in APAC can integrate On-Demand Liquidity and XRP-based settlement with full MAS compliance. A Singapore bank can use XRP as a bridge asset to send SGD and convert to PHP, THB, or any currency in SECONDS — far faster and cheaper than SWIFT. Southeast Asia handles billions in annual remittances and trade flows, and Singapore sits at the financial center of all of it.
Forward-thinking regulation created the launchpad. Ripple built the infrastructure. And over 50% of global XRP payment volume flows through one city-state. That’s dominance.
