The Clarity Act just hit its biggest wall yet — and the next 48 hours decide everything. According to Eleanor Terrett’s reporting at Crypto In America, a bipartisan group of senators — Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Bernie Moreno (R-OH), and Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) — along with White House Crypto Council Director Patrick Witt walked out of Tuesday’s closed-door ethics meeting EMPTY-HANDED.

Democrats are calling it an “about face.” Republicans and the White House walked back the key provision that would have allowed state attorneys general to sue the DOJ over a failure to enforce ethics rules tied to President Trump’s crypto ventures. As a compromise, the GOP floated limiting enforcement to the US Attorney General and even raised impeachment as a remedy. Democrats called it insufficient. One source described the talks as “rocky.” The group reconvenes Thursday.
The pressure is real: Trump and his family have generated an estimated $2.3 BILLION from crypto ventures since returning to office, per Reuters. Senators Gallego and Angela Alsobrooks have made it clear — no ethics guardrails, no vote. And Galaxy Research already cut 2026 passage odds to 60%.
