Arsenal and Chelsea complete their EFL Cup semifinal tie with the second leg taking place on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal come into this match after dominating Leeds 4-0 in Premier League play over the weekend, while Chelsea got a dramatic 3-2 win over West Ham United in stoppage time thanks to a goal from Enzo Fernandez. Arsenal lead this two-leg affair 3-2 after winning the first leg in mid-January at Stamford Bridge.

Kickoff from Emirates Stadium in London is set for 3 p.m. ET. You can stream the action on Paramount+ here. Arsenal are -145 favorites (wager $145 to win $100) in the latest Arsenal vs. Chelsea odds at DraftKings Sportsbook while Chelsea are +330 underdogs (wager $100 to win $330). Arsenal and Chelsea will battle for a place in the EFL Cup final when they lock horns at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday. The Gunners hold the advantage in this two-legged clash after beating Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge on Jan. 14. Arsenal dominated that game and appeared to be in cruise control after goals from Ben White and Viktor Gyökeres put them 2-0 up. Substitute Alejandro Garnacho pulled one back for Chelsea, but Martin Zubimeni’s restored Arsenal’s two-goal cushion.

The Gunners then missed a bunch of great chances, and they were left to rue their wastefulness after Garnacho struck again in the closing stages. His late goal left the clash delicately poised. Arsenal will qualify for the final if they avoid defeat on Tuesday, but they can’t afford to be complacent against this dangerous Chelsea team.

Rosenior makes a flying start to his Chelsea career

Chelsea will be surging with momentum after earning a thrilling 3-2 victory over West Ham at the weekend. The Blues looked dead and buried at half time as they were 2-0 down, and their left flank looked extremely vulnerable. Desperate times call for desperate measures and manager Liam Rosenior responded by making a dramatic triple substitution. Benoît Badiashile, Jorrel Hato, and Garnacho were all hauled off, and replacements Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, and João Pedro formed a new left flank. The results were spectacular. Chelsea were rejuvenated in the second half, and goals from Pedro, Cucurella, and Enzo Fernández earned them a famous 3-2 win.

They’ve now won six out of seven games in all competitions since Rosenior replaced Enzo Maresca as manager. Their only defeat came at the hands of Arsenal in the first leg of this EFL Cup semifinal showdown. Since then, they’ve beaten Brentford, Pafos, Crystal Palace, Napoli, and West Ham. Chelsea were also missing a couple of key players when they faced Arsenal on Jan. 14. Star midfielder Moisés Caicedo was suspended and playmaker Cole Palmer was injured. Both men are now back, and they both played the 90 minutes against West Ham. The Blues don’t have any major injury problems, so they should be close to full strength on Tuesday. Fofana should partner Trevoh Chalobah in defense, with captain Reece James at right back and Cucurella on the left. Fernández and Caicedo offer a superb blend of steel and flair in midfield, and Rosenior can call upon the likes of Pedro, Liam Delap, Garnacho and Pedro Neto in attack.

Kepa could be Arsenal’s weak link

Arsenal also secured a morale-boosting win at the weekend. The Gunners thrashed Leeds 4-0 at Elland Road, ending a three-game winless streak in the league. They’re now six points clear of their closest rivals at the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners also finished top of the Champions League group with eight wins from eight games, and they’re still going strong in the EFL Cup and the FA Cup too. It has been a remarkable season so far, but the players now need to win trophies. The pressure has been mounting in recent weeks, but that heavy victory over Leeds should steady the nerves.

Winger Bukayo Saka is likely to miss this game, and midfielder Mikel Merino is also set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking a bone in his foot. However, Arsenal have a deep squad and they should be able to cope. Manager Mikel Arteta fielded a strong team for the first leg, and he’s likely to do so again on Tuesday. However, reserve goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalga plays instead of David Raya in cup competitions and he looks shaky. He was at fault for Chelsea’s goals in the first leg, and Arsenal could struggle to keep a clean sheet with him in the team. At the other end of the pitch, the Gunners have an embarrassment of attacking riches, even if Saka misses out.

Gyökeres, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Noni Madueke, Martin Ødegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Eberechi Eze are all vying for just four starting berths, highlighting the depth of quality at Arteta’s disposal. That should ultimately allow Arsenal to get the better of Chelsea. Their home form has been exceptional this season: 14 wins, three draws, and just one defeat from 18 games in all competitions. A draw would suit them, but it’s dangerous to play for a draw, so the odds on Arsenal securing a home win look appealing.

Robert MacIntyre had a week to forget at the 2026 Masters.

The 29-year-old Scotsman arrived in good form, following a T2 at the Valero Texas Open and a fourth-place finish at the Players Championship. But MacIntyre’s week at Augusta National unraveled quickly during the opening round, where he made quadruple-bogey nine on the par-5 15th en route to a first-round 80. Cameras caught MacIntyre flipping off the 15th green after putting two balls in the water, and he was reportedly reprimanded by Augusta National for the gesture. MacIntyre skipped media after both his first and second rounds and then posted an AI-generated image of himself as a Masters gnome making the same gesture after missing the cut.

On Thursday, after the first round of the RBC Heritage, MacIntyre spoke with Sky Sports’ Nick Dougherty about his turbulent few days at Augusta National.

“I know what I did isn’t the best way of me doing things,” MacIntyre said. “But look, I wear my heart on my sleeve. I’m trying my best to control the emotions. I work with someone back home. And yeah, there was a lot going on, and I’m disappointed with that, but I’m very good at putting things behind me. Things that get said elsewhere, it doesn’t faze me. I’ve got my family, friends, part of my team — these guys are the ones that I really listen to. And if I’ve done something wrong, they tell me.

“And that’s how I go about life. I just do what I want, how we want, not just personally but with family and friends. And we go about our business the way we want to do it. Some people like it, some people don’t. But, at the end of the day, it’s a job and I try to come out here and perform the best I can.”

MacIntyre has always been an emotional player. After a poor title defense at last year’s Genesis Scottish Open, MacIntyre explained how he flushes bad weeks by “going mental” for a bit. That allows him to reset quickly and move on.

“I can go as mental as I want for an hour and then after that, just back to life,” MacIntyre said at Royal Portrush ahead of the 2025 Open Championship. “I can do whatever I want for an hour. Just anything I want. You can break things. You can literally do whatever I want for an hour. After that hour is gone, my job’s done. For an hour and a half before my round, two hours before my round, I’m preparing, so nobody gets in my way. It’s warmup, stretching, gym work, all of that. So there’s a five-, six-, seven-, eight-hour window that I’m working.

“If you have a bad day at work, you’re going to be annoyed. It happens more often than not for me as well,” MacIntyre said then, laughing. “It’s just about once that’s gone, it’s been difficult in the past for me to reset, but nowadays, there’s so many golf tournaments and you don’t know what’s coming the next week.”

Now a top-15 golfer in the world, MacIntyre knows he can’t let his emotions and frustrations consume him. The professional golf hamster wheel is always spinning. A tournament ends, you win or lose, and then it’s quickly onto the next one. It’s important to be able to quickly hit the reset button. Let the steam out and get ready to go again.

But the emotions are also what make Robert MacIntyre who he is. To stamp out all of his fire would be to take away part of the soul of his game. It’s a tightrope he has to walk — sometimes he traverses it cleanly and sometimes he falls.

“I’m fiery on the golf course when I’m in tournament rounds,” MacIntyre said at the Open. “I’ll drop, I was going to say the odd, but a few bad words in there. I’ll hit the bag. I’ll say some harsh things, but that’s what gets me going. If I walk around and I’m all happy I just made a double bogey or people are clapping, thanks very much, that’s not me. I’m needing to smash something up. I want to rip a glove. I do something to get that anger out. It’s better out than in for me. Some people it’s better holding it, but for me it’s get it out and then just do not let it affect the next shot. Simple.”

The poor week at the Masters was frustrating. After a runner-up finish at last year’s U.S. Open and a weekend of contention at this year’s Players, MacIntyre is more confident than ever that he’s made of the right stuff to win major championships. He left Augusta National disappointed in a showing that didn’t reflect the current state of his game.

But after two days at home, Robert MacIntyre was ready to flush a Masters to forget and get right back on the horse at Harbour Town.

In pro golf, there’s very little time to stew over shots you can never get back.

Roberto De Zerbi says struggling Tottenham can go on a winning run and survive

Roberto De Zerbi issued a rallying cry to his deflated Tottenham players and insisted they can win their last five Premier League games this season to avoid a catastrophic relegation.

Spurs will spend another week in the bottom three after they suffered heartbreak in a 2-2 draw at home to Brighton when Georginio Rutter’s stoppage-time leveller denied them a first league win of 2026.

A thunderbolt by Xavi Simons after 77 minutes sent Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into pandemonium, but the north London club’s winless league run stands at 15 matches after late drama in N17 followed Pedro Porro’s opener being cancelled out by a sumptuous Kaoru Mitoma volley.

Even though Spurs’ players collapsed at full-time, De Zerbi claimed to be more confident of survival after he picked up the first point of his reign against old club Brighton.

West Ham are a point ahead of Tottenham in 17th ahead of Monday’s trip to Crystal Palace, but De Zerbi backed his squad to win their remaining matches with Wolves, Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea and Everton to avoid a first relegation since 1977.

“I always thought and believed in the quality of the players,” De Zerbi insisted.

“They played a good game, I think we can play better than today with much more quality and more calm, especially when we are in possession, but in this moment we need this spirit, this attitude and this mentality.

“It is not finished yet. We have another five games. It is tough. Every one of us knows it is a tough moment, it is a difficult situation, but we have another five games and 15 points.

“This team is able to win five games in a row. Now it is difficult to hear my words, but if you watch the players and analyse the level of the players, I think we can win five games in a row.

“Not to be arrogant because I am not arrogant, especially now, but we have the quality enough to fight and win games in a row.”

When De Zerbi was asked how he would lift his players, the Italian fired a warning to any member of the club down in the dumps.

De Zerbi added: “They have to be stronger and be focused longer and come to (the) training ground on Monday afternoon with a smile otherwise they go home.

“I have no time to see negative people or to see sad players or (a) sad assistant. No, we are lucky because we are working at a big club, a big stadium, we are working in Premier League and we have the quality, the right quality to win the game – so we have to be positive. I don’t like the people who cry and who think in (a) negative way.”

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler echoed the sentiments of De Zerbi and backed Spurs to stay up.

“Yeah, definitely. I also could say before the game. What they have is individual quality. I think they have unbelievable players in their squad,” Hurzeler reflected.

“They have players in their frontline that can make a difference. They have enough quality in their squad to make it happen.”

Brighton are ninth and a point behind seventh-placed Brentford in the battle for European qualification.

“In the end it’s a point and a point we will take. It’s a point we can make really positive and that’s our responsibility,” Hurzeler said.

Chasing 12-13 at the death is going to be difficult,” he said.Batting first, SRH put up 194/9 thanks to quick half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen. CSK bowlers, including Anshul Kamboj, did well to keep the score in check.In reply, CSK got good starts from Ayush Mhatre, Matthew Short and Sarfaraz Khan, but kept losing wickets. SRH bowlers like Eshan Malinga and Nitish Kumar Reddy controlled the game in the later stages.Despite the loss, Gaikwad praised his bowlers and highlighted Kamboj’s confidence: “It’s been three successive games that the bowling unit has been doing really well. Even the power play today, I thought Abhishek played brilliantly. I think everyone did a good job (with the ball).“He (Anshul Kamboj) is working really hard on his bowling, especially the death bowling. Very rarely you get bowlers who have clarity and tell the captain that I know what to do, this is what I am going to do.”

It was a short day at the office for Matt Quatraro on Saturday.

The Kansas City Royals manager got ejected in the first inning of their game against the New York Yankees before his team even threw a pitch.

Kansas City wasted a leadoff double in the top half of the first, perhaps angering Quatraro. But in between innings, he had some words with a pair of umpires.

The speculation is that Quatraro was arguing that a balk should have been called on Yankees starter Will Warren for throwing to second base without coming to a stop.

For what it’s worth, nobody was even thrown out on Warren’s throw over. So the argument and ejection was all for naught.

And this all happened before Royals starter Noah Cameron even threw a pitch.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into a draft with double the number of typical picks. Armed with a dozen selections, the Steelers could see another sea of additions in a cumulative change as big as losing Mike Tomlin. The franchise will need all of the help it can get.

According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in an Apr. 17 report, wide receiver will be the biggest area of need at the top of the draft, making it clear that the franchise will operate as if Aaron Rodgers is returning. #6 – Round 4, Pick 121: Malachi Fields, WR, Notre Dame

Malachi Fields will help Aaron Rodgers connect deep with a conference-leading 17.5 yards per reception in 2025. If Denzel Boston starts slowly, Fields could be the first one to pop of the two.

At this point in the draft, the Steelers double-up on players to add a higher chance of fixing the position group if the top player struggles, starting with Fernando Carmona Jr., who will be insurance for Keylan Rutledge.
