WWE has made it a habit of releasing stars regularly from the company over the past few years in big batches. While the company does release stars now and then when their contracts expire, big batches of releases over the years have become common as well.
Tonight, they did the same during SmackDown and before the show started as well. PJ Vasa and Jasper Troy were two of the stars who were confirmed to have been let go. But they were not the only ones. Elle Akesson soon confirmed that she had been released by the company as well. Now, Fightful‘s Sean Ross Sapp has reported that several other stars have also been released from the company, naming Wendy Choo, Braxton Cole, Adriana Rizzo, Zena Sterling, Anya Rune, Gary Wilson, and Marcus Brown.

The complete list of stars released so far can be seen below.
Wendy Choo
Adriana Rizzo
Zena Sterling
Anya Rune
Braxton Cole
Jasper Troy
PJ Vasa
Gary Wilson
Ellen Akesson
Marcus Brown
These are only the names revealed so far, and it has not been confirmed whether even more stars have been let go from the company. With the number of releases taking place, it should be noted that all of them were from NXT and developmental.
There were other such cuts last year as well, with several big names cut. Of the stars let go, Wendy Choo was at one time a regular on NXT, but has not featured there much in recent months, wrestling more on EVOLVE. She also became the EVOLVE Women’s Champion.
Meanwhile, Zena Sterling was a runner-up on LFG.

Terence Crawford and Jaron Ennis have never shared the ring, but their rivalry has continued to gather momentum as the two Americans exchanged words during the DAZN broadcast of Andy Ruiz Jr’s comeback against Damian Knyba.
The pair have been linked for years, dating back to Crawford’s time as undisputed welterweight champion when Ennis was emerging as one of the division’s most dangerous contenders. A fight never materialised, with Crawford instead vacating the belts and moving to super-welterweight to beat Israil Madrimov before a jump to super-middleweight to defeat Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. He retired undefeated and a champion in five divisions.
While Crawford has publicly stated that he wants to see ‘Boots’ do well, he has also offered some criticism. He previously argued that Ennis was being given too much credit for the Zayas victory and warned that his tendency to exchange could prove costly against the likes of Fundora or Vergil Ortiz Jr. He has also backed Fundora to beat Ennis and suggested Ortiz would punish the openings he has seen in the Philadelphia fighter’s game.
The tension resurfaced during Friday night’s Ruiz-Knyba broadcast, with Crawford making it clear that he believes he would have had too much for Ennis had they ever met. He also argued that ‘Boots’ will only receive the recognition he is seeking if he proves himself against elite opposition at 154lbs, specifically naming Ortiz and Fundora.
The exchange adds another chapter to a rivalry that seems likely to remain in the debate territory. Crawford appears content in retirement, while Ennis remains focused on cleaning out the super-welterweight division.
For now, the chances of them settling the debate in the ring appear remote. But with both men clearly willing to keep discussing the other, the argument over how a fight between them would have unfolded is unlikely to disappear any time soon.
Ennis is reportedly close to inking a unification deal with Kelly, which could take place towards the end of this year.
Coming to Minnesota, Kyler Murray had to navigate a reputation that he didn’t work a ton. Such a critique has now arisen from within the Twin Cities.
Mike Florio, the proprietor at Pro Football Talk, was the proprietor of the rumor. The football writer claims that a trusted source offered the update. Check it out: “The starting quarterback is showing up right on time and leaving as soon as the bell rings.” Not too long afterwards, there are then some quips about being there to work on Tuesdays — something Kirk Cousins didn’t do — before then joking that Murray could bring his PS5 with him.
Mike Florio, Kyler Murray, & Working in MIN
Upon first glance, the description isn’t particularly damning. Being on time and then leaving when the work is done sounds pretty reasonable.

The NFL, though, often isn’t a reasonable workplace.
An old school approach to football would insist that Murray is late if he’s not early (Tom Coughlin). Likewise, there’s a belief out there that not putting in the extra hours afterwards is an issue. Chris Simms, a former NFL passer, mentioned that being the quarterback means being “the hardest working guy on the team, you gotta be the guy that’s in the facility the most.”
Per Simms, that’s a “golden rule.”

Back in June, I got out to TCO for mandatory minicamp. Kyler Murray was made available to the media, allowing me to ask about how he planned on spending his summer time off. Work, not a vacation, was on Murray’s summertime menu.
Check out some of what I learned: “His response largely affirmed a desire to do precisely what [Kevin] O’Connell is asking. The summer time off won’t be time off, per Murray. Instead, the newcomer at QB will look to continue learning and growing in Minnesota’s offense. How well he does within this ambition is going to largely determine his ability to become the starter.”
At least on a public level, Murray said exactly what he was supposed to say. Mike Florio is saying, per a source, that things are a bit different inside of TCO Performance Center.
The Minnesota Vikings are a football team that is stuffed with quarterback talent. Among the leaders, there’s the presence of passers layered into that coaching staff in Kevin O’Connell, Josh McCown, and Wes Phillips, all of whom played quarterback prior to coaching.
And then there’s Kyler Murray as the Vikings’ QB1. He has won the competition but can’t grow too comfortable since all of J.J. McCarthy, Carson Wentz, and Max Brosmer are on the roster. McCarthy, in particular, is shooting for that starting job even if he has been assigned to a depth position.

So, what do we do with the Kyler Murray hubbub that’s now out there for people to digest?
On a basic level, it’s hard to get too worked up about the issue. Murray is a 29-year-old former No. 1 selection who is now in a terrific setup. Throwing to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison with that front five along the OL is a wonderful workplace environment. Nobody should need to motivate him. He’s a grown man and a professional.
Murray’s work ethic, or lack thereof, is tough to discern from the outside looking in. The Florio report is precisely that: a report. Maybe it contains at least some portion of truth. How much of that truth is being conveyed?
Kyler Murray will make his official Vikings debut next weekend when the Green Bay Packers arrive for the Week 1 game.
The Mark Walker stable is anticipating the Moir Stakes at Sandown, with Geegees Mistruth slated to compete.
This 1000-metre Group 1 race is being held at Sandown this year as Moonee Valley undergoes track redevelopment and reconfiguration.
This year’s edition features a field of 13 runners, and while it is expected to be a quick dash, the Sandown track’s width will allow ample room for the field to spread.
Geegees Mistruth’s most recent start was a victory in the Group 1 Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville in April. She enters Saturday’s event following a single jump-out, a winning performance at Caulfield Heath on August 19.
Walker’s assistant trainer, Ben Gleeson, indicated that the team intentionally kept the mare fresh, believing she has completed the necessary preparation to be competitive.
“The plan was always to have the one jump-out, keep her fresh and then hopefully we can go to the Manikato (Stakes),” Gleeson shared.
“We were rapt with her trial at Caulfield Heath a few weeks ago and she’s had a few gallops at home.
“I think she’s improved. In saying that she needs to with her rating being where it is now.
“She has to find a couple of lengths. I think she has and we’ve had her for a year now and have continued to learn about her, work with her quirks, and I think we’ve done that.
“The Sandown 1000 metres is going to suit her fresh. She’s that 1200 to 1400-metre type of horse, but she is electric first-up.
“If there is any horse suited in it at Sandown, it is certainly her and we’re glad it’s not at Moonee Valley.
“She’s not been there before, but she’s got a lovely big action on her, and she will eat up that ground up the rise.”
Having commenced her career in Tasmania with Stuart Gandy, Geegees Mistruth has achieved one win for Walker, complemented by four placings from her seven starts with the stable.
Gleeson emphasized the hard work by the team, particularly track rider Laura Winks, in assisting Geegees Mistruth to develop a more relaxed nature.
“She’s a highly strung filly, but her track rider that has ridden her from day one when she came to us has done a lot of hard work with her,” Gleeson stated.
“She’s got her to relax. She’s happy, she’s eating us out of house and home, and is nearly one of the quietest horses in our stable now.”

Blake Shinn, who rode Geegees Mistruth in the Caulfield Heath jump-out, will be aboard on Saturday, with the pair drawing barrier four.

Australian great Ricky Ponting has suggested a radical change in the way cricket is marketed in the United States, saying administrators should consider dropping the word ‘cricket’ altogether and promoting the sport simply as ‘T20’.With the United States emerging as a key part of the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s global growth strategy, Ponting believes the traditional name could be holding the sport back in a market more familiar with baseball, American football and basketball. The former Australia captain feels the word ‘cricket’ could lead new American audiences to immediately think of Test matches and their five-day format, rather than the shorter and more entertainment-driven T20 game.Speaking to The Athletic, Ponting acknowledged that he is a traditionalist who played far more Test cricket than T20 cricket. However, he said he would be open to a complete rebranding of the format if it helped attract a new generation of American sports fans.“If I was bringing it here wholly and solely to sell and promote the game, I wouldn’t call it cricket,” Ponting begins. “It’d just be rebranded as T20 only. Leave the cricket thing aside. As soon as young people hear cricket in parts of the world where they’re not brought up on the game, they think about it being a long, drawn-out, five-day game, and it’s not that.”Ponting also believes baseball could provide a useful comparison for introducing T20 to an American audience. Rather than focusing on the technical differences between the sports, he wants potential fans to understand the high-scoring nature of the shortest cricket format.“I would compare it to baseball as much as I could and give kids that chance to understand you’re hitting 15 sixes per game in a game of T20 cricket, but you are hitting less than one home run a game in the game of baseball.”The United States has become one of the ICC’s biggest development priorities, given the size and commercial strength of its sports market. While baseball, American football and basketball remain dominant, soccer has also been growing rapidly in the country.Cricket, meanwhile, has traditionally had a much smaller mainstream following in the US and has largely been played and followed by Asian, European and African expat communities. The ICC has been attempting to broaden that audience through a series of major initiatives. The country hosted a successful T20 World Cup in 2024, while Major League Cricket has been developed as a domestic competition. Ponting himself is involved in the league as coach of Washington Freedom. The ICC is also working towards cricket’s return to the Olympic stage at the Los Angeles 2028 Games, with efforts underway to develop suitable grounds and infrastructure in the US.With T20 at the centre of many of those efforts, Ponting believes presenting the sport as a fast-paced, modern product rather than immediately associating it with Test cricket could help the ICC connect with American audiences.
Manchester United are set to take on Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, but Michael Carrick looks to be without a number of potentially key players for the match
And while Carrick will look for more consistency going forward, with the club well-placed to compete in the Premier League this term, this weekend’s clash with Everton will not be without its challenges. The Toffees are unbeaten this season so far, having enjoyed a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on opening day, as well as a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth last weekend.

To make matters worse, United will also be without a number of key players for their trip, with various starters still recovering from respective injuries. Here, the MEN breaks down all of the latest injury news and return dates…
Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw was forced off 73 minutes into United’s match with Ipswich as a result of muscle tightness. However there are no major concerns over the left-back, who should be fine to start against Everton.

Carlos Baleba
Carlos Baleba was snapped up from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer in a deal worth up to £70million. However, the 22-year-old is yet to feature for Carrick’s first-team.
The Cameroonian suffered a minor ankle ligament injury in pre-season and continues to be unavailable for selection as a result. Speaking about Baleba’s issue at the end of August, Carrick said: “He’s got a little ankle issue.
“So, maybe a couple of weeks or so, maybe three weeks, we’ll see. But we knew that before, so it’s no major issue. It’ll be great to have him back when we can.”

He said last month: “Matt’s obviously been out for a long period of time, but he’s training and great to have him back. He’s in good shape and moving in a good direction. So that’s really a good bonus for us, at this stage to have him back.”

World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka says she might ‘get high’ herself if the smell of marijuana at the US Open doesn’t stop drifting into the stadium | Tennis News
Aryna Sabalenka, of Belarus, reacts during a match against Camila Osorio, of Colombia, during the first round of the U.S. Open tennis championships, Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, in New York. (AP Photo/Seth Wenig)
Aryna Sabalenka has joked that she might “get high” herself if the cannabis smell keeps drifting around the US Open after briefly stopping her third-round match to complain about it.The world No.1 was playing Kamilla Rakhimova in Louis Armstrong Stadium when she noticed the strong smell and approached chair umpire Eva Asderaki-Moore while leading 3-0 in the opening set.Sabalenka ultimately brushed off the interruption and produced one of her strongest performances of the tournament, beating Rakhimova 6-3, 6-4 to reach the fourth round without dropping a set.But the cannabis smell came up again in her post-match press conference, where Sabalenka revealed just how noticeable it had been.
Sabalenka explains why she stopped the match
Sabalenka initially believed the smell could have been coming from somewhere in the crowd. While leading 3-0, she called over Asderaki-Moore and told the umpire: “Someone is smoking weed, do you mind … because it’s so strong.”Officials briefly searched the crowd, although they were unable to identify the source.Speaking afterwards, Sabalenka said she had no issue with people enjoying themselves away from the competition.“I was like, guys you can do whatever. You can smoke, whatever. You can relax as much as you can. But please don’t do it around the tennis courts,” she said.“It’s a bit tricky to handle that smell while you’re trying to compete at your best.”The Belarusian was then asked how “high” she was compared with the other Grand Slam tournaments, prompting a laugh and a joke that suggested the smell had already become difficult to escape.“High? The level?” Sabalenka said. “Now I can only hear weed stuff. If they’re gonna keep smoking I might get high.”Sabalenka was also asked whether it was the first time she had encountered such a strong smell while playing in New York.“That strong? Yeah,” she replied. She suggested the wind may have played a part, leaving her uncertain about exactly where the smell had come from.“Also because it was a bit windy. I don’t know if it was coming from the crowd or the outside because wind blows it into the stadium,” Sabalenka said.“I just hope they’re gonna be a bit more aware of that stuff.”Cannabis is legal in New York, and the smell has become a familiar talking point around the US Open in recent years. However, smoking is prohibited inside the tournament grounds.British player Katie Boulter had also spoken about smelling cannabis around the outer courts earlier in the tournament, saying she had experienced it while playing on Court 17.
Sabalenka finds her rhythm as Townsend awaits
The interruption did little to derail Sabalenka’s progress. The two-time defending US Open champion faced a challenging test from Rakhimova but eventually came through in straight sets, backed by a superb serving display. She hit 10 aces, faced zero break points and moved into the round of 16 without dropping a set. That is significant given the form Sabalenka brought into New York. The world No.1 had not reached another final since winning Indian Wells and Miami back-to-back in March, leaving her searching for consistency as she attempted to defend her title. She is also fighting to retain the No.1 ranking. Sabalenka has held the top spot for 97 weeks, but will lose it unless she wins her third consecutive US Open title and world No.2 Elena Rybakina loses before the semi-finals.

Her next opponent will be home favourite Taylor Townsend, who reached the fourth round for a second consecutive year.Townsend followed up her run to the last 16 at last year’s US Open by producing another impressive tournament in New York, defeating 15th seed Diana Shnaider 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-3.That means Sabalenka now has a considerably tougher test ahead, but after arriving at the US Open short of her best form, she is beginning to find some rhythm. And if the tennis continues to improve, perhaps the only thing Sabalenka will need to worry about in her next match is the opponent — rather than what is drifting in from somewhere around the stadium.
Amenable is poised to end a protracted period without finding the winner’s circle as he makes his first start for trainer Grahame Begg at Sandown.
The former charge of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr is slated to run in the Group 3 Chautauqua Stakes (1300m) this Saturday, marking his return to racing after an eleven-month absence.
Amenable’s most recent win occurred at Caulfield over 1400m in August 2023. This followed his debut success over 1300m at Sandown in March 2022.
The gelding demonstrated considerable aptitude under the guidance of Price and Kent Jnr, competing in prestigious Group 1 events such as the Caulfield Guineas, Australian Guineas, Memsie Stakes, Toorak Handicap, George Ryder Stakes, and Stradbroke Handicap. He also achieved a second-place finish in the All-Aged Stakes.
However, in 24 career starts, he has only secured two victories alongside six minor placings.
Amenable’s last race was an eighth-place finish at Caulfield in November, which preceded a change of stables for the current campaign.
He has participated in two jump-outs to sharpen his fitness for Saturday’s engagement, finishing third in his most recent trial on August 19 behind Oliveanotherday.
“We gave him a long spell,” Begg conveyed.
“He’s had a few issues, but he has prepped up well and he ran third in a trial at Caulfield Heath the other day which was a very good trial.
“He’s going well.”
Begg highlighted that the team has managed Amenable’s training regimen conservatively due to his age.
“We’ve not worked him as hard being an older horse, keeping him happy within himself,” Begg stated.
“He loves wet ground and I’ve kept him on the grass for galloping rather than working him on synthetics where they can jar up.
“It’s a nice kick-off being 1300 and any give in the ground won’t do his chances any harm.”
Begg also has Royal Insignia entered for Saturday’s contest, but the gelding’s final acceptance will depend on the prevailing track conditions.
Royal Insignia’s last appearance at Sandown resulted in a win in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) in January 2025. His most recent outing saw him finish second in the Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on August 1.
This sprinter also took part in a jump-out at Caulfield Heath, securing third place on August 19.
“He’s won at the track but needs good ground,” Begg remarked.
“The 1300 metres won’t worry him, but I won’t run him if it’s too wet, so he might have to wait for the Bobbie Lewis Quality (at Flemington) on Saturday week.”
Consider the current racing odds for the Chautauqua Stakes, as Amenable’s return could spark interest.
The 2026 NFL season kicks off in just five days, and the Fantasy football ADP is solidified now that the preseason is over and roster cuts have been made. Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, Ja’Marr Chase, Puka Nacua, Jonathan Taylor and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are the players going off the board first on average. Ashton Jeanty, TreVeyon Henderson, RJ Harvey and Jaylen Warren have been some of the biggest ADP fallers leading into the final weekend of Fantasy drafts.

Last year, the model accurately predicted that Colts quarterback Daniel Jones would fully realize his potential in his first year in Indy. He was the QB10 before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 14. Jones finished the year as the QB17 as the model had him as a top-15 Fantasy quarterback entering 2025. Anyone who took a chance on him in Fantasy football drafts was surely rewarded when he was in the lineup.
The same model has a proven track record providing Fantasy football tips, nailing Jonathan Taylor’s monstrous season in 2021, calling Rachaad White’s breakout in 2023 and identifying Isiah Pacheco as a bust in 2025. Additionally, it has called past Fantasy football sleepers like A.J. Brown in 2020, Derrick Henry in 2019, Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara in 2018, and Davante Adams in 2017.
Now, SportsLine has simulated the entire NFL season 10,000 times and released its latest 2026 Fantasy football rankings for PPR and non-PPR leagues, along with plenty of sleepers, breakouts and busts. Head to SportsLine now to see them.
Top 2026 Fantasy football sleepers
One of the 2026 Fantasy football sleepers the model is predicting: Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce. He was one of the top big-play receivers in the league last year, finishing second in the league with an average of 21.3 yards per reception. He finished the year as a top-25 Fantasy WR with a 47-1003-6 receiving line, cashing in on a four-year, $114 million contract extension.
He is rehabbing an ankle injury in camp and the Colts added veteran Keenan Allen, which are some of the reasons that he’s slipped to an ADP of around No. 86 overall after starting near No. 70. With Michael Pittman gone, however, SportsLine’s model is extremely high on Pierce’s outlook, ranking him above receivers such as Maik Nabers and Justin Jefferson, both of whom are going much earlier in Fantasy drafts. See more Fantasy football sleepers 2026 here.

Top 2026 Fantasy football breakouts
One of the 2026 Fantasy football breakouts the model is predicting: Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, who is going off the board at pick No. 110. The second-year pro out of Ole Miss had a solid rookie season, throwing for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. He added 487 yards and nine scores on the ground. He had a brief injury scare in Week 1 of the preseason, but was cleared and able to return to that game.
There’s certainly some ongoing injury risk, but with an upgraded supporting cast and the return of Malk Nabers (ACL), Dart has a chance to be a steal at his current ADP. SportsLine’s model ranks him ahead of players like Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford and Justin Herbert, all QBs being drafted before him. See more Fantasy football breakouts 2026 here.
Top 2026 Fantasy football busts
As for players to avoid, the model identifies Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III. Walker’s Fantasy stock is sky high after he was dominant in the playoffs last year as a key piece of Seattle’s Super Bowl run. Now he joins a Kansas City backfield without a lot of competition, and he’s going off the board at pick No. 17 overall on average in Fantasy drafts, up three slots in recent days.
Andy Reid’s pass-first offense hasn’t been friendly to running backs, however, from a Fantasy standpoint as no Kansas City back has cleared 1,000 yards on the ground since 2017. Walker also brings some injury risk after missing at least one game in 2022, 2023 and 2024. SportsLine’s model ranks backs such as Jeremiyah Love, D’Andre Swift and Bucky Irving higher, making Walker a player to avoid in upcoming Fantasy drafts. See more Fantasy football busts 2026 here.
Peter Uihlein, who has played in LIV Golf tournaments since 2023, played two rounds at a DP World Tour first-stage qualifying school event this week and was disqualified.
Uihlein’s DQ came at Huddersfield Golf Club in Huddersfield, England. He opened with rounds of four-over 74 and three-over 73, then was booted from the event after he failed to show for his third round, Bunkered’s Josh Lees reported.
The disqualification comes as the future of LIV Golf remains unclear. Two weeks ago, the league finished its fifth season of play, but it’s now trying to manage the loss of its primary backer, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund. LIV CEO Scott O’Neil has said the league has received a signed term sheet with a lead investor, but has yet to name it, saying there’s “a very compressed timeline to get the deal done.”
In light of the uncertainty, O’Neil also said he was confident that LIV had “a critical mass of the right players” for the future. A commitment deadline exists, though, he said, but didn’t say when that would be.
“We have work to do,” O’Neil said. “We have things we have to accomplish. There are hurdles we have to jump over. It’s a very complex transaction we’ll have to deliver.
“But man, I wouldn’t bet against us.”
Uihlein was one of five LIV pros playing in DP World Tour first-stage qualifying school — at the Huddersfield event were Luis Masaveu and Josele Ballester, and next week at Golf-und Country Club Seddiner See in Michendorf, Germany, Michael La Sasso and Yosuke Asaji are signed up. Multiple outlets have also reported that the DP World Tour will resume fining and suspending its players who compete in LIV events; in February, eight players were given conditional releases.
La Sasso’s entry is interesting. He won LIV’s season-ending event, and afterward, he said he wasn’t sure where he’d play next.
“I’m honestly not sure,” he said. “I’m ready to go back home and spend some time around my family and the people I love.”
Uihlein has played in 131 DP World Tour events since turning pro in 2012, winning once, at the 2013 Madeira Islands Open, and he’s played in 128 PGA Tour events. This season with LIV, he finished 22nd in the season-points race.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani was not in the starting lineup Friday for a second night in a row due to continued issues with his right biceps and left knee.
Tommy Edman is in the leadoff spot and Alex Call is the designated hitter against the visiting Washington Nationals, and it remains unclear whether Ohtani is available.
Ohtani went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Wednesday’s loss to the St. Louis Cardinals before sitting out Thursday.
Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts has termed Ohtani as day to day.
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes doesn’t feel Ohtani needs a stint on the 10-day injured list.
“I think not having Shohei in the lineup for 10 days or whatever it would be is something that we would prefer not to do,” Gomes told reporters. “It really hasn’t even been something that we’ve discussed.”
Ohtani, 32, is 2-for-23 with 11 strikeouts in his last six games. He is batting .279 with 30 home runs and 80 RBIs in 133 games this season. His last homer was on Aug. 18.
Ohtani was among the National League Cy Young Award contenders in the first half of the season after going 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA in 14 starts while pitching in a six-man rotation.

Los Angeles first baseman Freddie Freeman isn’t in the starting lineup Friday, either. He is getting a night off.
