Paris Saint-Germain will play Arsenal in the Champions League final after they drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena to seal a 6-5 aggregate semi-final victory.

After the astonishing first leg in Paris a week ago that saw the European champions triumph by the odd goal in nine, this was a more measured but no less fascinating affair, Ousmane Dembele’s goal in the third minute giving the visitors a two-goal advantage in the tie.

At that stage it looked like another explosive night of attacking fluidity was in store, but Bayern could not rediscover the threat that saw them reel PSG in from 5-2 to 5-4 in the Parc des Princes.

Harry Kane scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to set up a nervous finale, but Bayern had left themselves insufficient time to seriously unsettle the visitors from Paris.

Luis Enrique’s side had been the team that had looked likeliest to add to their tally and put the semi-final beyond all doubt, Manuel Neuer performing heroics to just about keep Bayern’s hopes alive until the end.

In the end, the holders needed nothing further in order to book their place alongside Mikel Arteta’s side in Budapest on 30 May.

They had opened up a two-goal lead in the tie inside three minutes of the return. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia raced into space down the left and looked up to see Dembele arriving in the box. The Georgian playmaker pulled the ball back for Dembele to race onto and hammer a finish first-time into the roof of the net.

Bayern were furious not to have been awarded a penalty midway through the half. Goalkeeper Matvei Safonov made an uncertain punch and the ball landed with Vitinha, who in attempting to clear slammed the ball against the arm of teammate Joao Neves. As it was another PSG player that had made the clearance, it was not deemed to be handball despite Neves’s arm being well away from his body.

Neves then drew a wonderful save from Manuel Neuer, who threw himself low across goal to tip away the midfielder’s header. Jonathan Tah headed wide from a free-kick in the final minute of the half, a rare Bayern chance in the first period.

At the start of the second half, Neuer saved twice in quick succession from Desire Doue and Kvaratskhelia. Doue tried again soon after with a low drive that brought the best stop yet from the Bayern goalkeeper.

The hosts came close again through Luis Diaz who was denied by Safonov but PSG were carrying the greater threat. Doue blasted an effort inches wide of the post with Neuer beaten as the European champions looked to seal it.

Kvaratskhelia brushed past Bayern’s defence and bore down on goal but badly missed his kick, with the goal and tie at his mercy. Kane finally found space inside the box to lash a finish into the roof of the net deep in stoppage time, but a famous fightback was not to be.

The Tanzanian government is considering appointing former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba as an ambassador for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations as preparations continue for the continental tournament.

The plan is reportedly being championed by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who wants to use Drogba’s global football influence to promote the competition and attract more international attention ahead of the tournament.

Drogba recently visited Tanzania at the invitation of the country’s sports authorities, where discussions were held on ways to improve the image, promotion and commercial value of the 2027 AFCON.

Tanzania will host the competition alongside Kenya and Uganda in what will be a historic joint hosting of Africa’s biggest football event in the East African region.

The possible appointment of Drogba is viewed as an important part of the host nations’ strategy to raise the profile of the tournament both within Africa and internationally.

Drogba remains one of Africa’s most celebrated football figures. During his playing career, the former striker became a legend at Chelsea FC, where he won several major trophies, including four Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2012.

The former forward was widely praised for his leadership, strength and goalscoring ability during his time in England. He scored more than 160 goals for Chelsea and established himself as one of the club’s greatest players.

At international level, Drogba captained Ivory Coast national football team and played a major role in helping the Elephants qualify for several FIFA World Cups and Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

Beyond football, Drogba has also earned respect for his humanitarian work and efforts to promote peace in Ivory Coast during periods of political tension in the country.

Officials believe his popularity, leadership experience and strong connection with African football could help bring more global attention to the 2027 AFCON.

The 2027 tournament is expected to be one of the biggest editions of the competition, with East Africa preparing to welcome teams and supporters from across the continent and beyond.

Out West, the Avalanche made quick work of the Kings in the first round, and they will get a much bigger challenge as they face the Minnesota Wild in the second round. The Wild just won a playoff series for the first time since 2015, and that sets up a matchup between the two best defensemen in the world with Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes on the ice at the same time.

The Vegas Golden Knights will face off against the Anaheim Ducks in the Pacific portion of the bracket, and that matchup pits a veteran defensive-minded team against a youthful roster with a penchant for lighting up the scoreboard.

The top seed in the East, the Hurricanes, also swept their first round opponent, the Senators. They’ll take on a Flyers team that just upset its biggest rival in the Penguins, and they’re looking to continue what has been a magical run dating back to their playoff push. Carolina is the clear favorite, but Philadelphia has already proven it can be a problem for anyone.

After taking down the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7, the Montreal Canadiens meet the Buffalo Sabres in the second round. Both teams are on the rise, but only one will break through for an Eastern Conference Final berth.

Paris Saint-Germain F.C. have qualified for the UEFA Champions League final after securing a 1-1 draw against FC Bayern Munich in Wednesday night’s semi-final second leg at the Allianz Arena.

The French champions progressed 6-5 on aggregate after winning an exciting first leg 5-4 in Paris last week. The result sends PSG into another Champions League final, where they will face Arsenal FC in Budapest on May 30.

PSG took the lead through Ousmane Dembélé, who fired home a first-time finish after a brilliant run and assist from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia down the left wing.

The match was filled with controversy as Bayern players and supporters complained about several handball decisions. The German side felt PSG defender Nuno Mendes should have been punished for a possible handball while already on a yellow card.

There were also strong appeals for another handball involving João Neves inside the PSG penalty area, but the referee ignored the protests and VAR did not overturn the decisions.

Kvaratskhelia’s assist also saw him make Champions League history. The Georgian winger became the first player to either score or provide an assist in seven straight knockout matches in a single season. He is now level with Kylian Mbappé on 16 goal contributions in this season’s competition, with 10 goals and six assists.

Bayern pushed hard in the second half in search of a comeback but struggled to break down PSG’s defence. Harry Kane eventually scored a late goal for the hosts, though it only served as a consolation before the final whistle.

The German champions had hoped to repeat the treble-winning success they achieved in 2013 and 2020, but their European journey ended narrowly at home.

Both PSG and Bayern entered the second leg as the competition’s highest-scoring teams, with 43 and 42 goals respectively, making the tie one of the most entertaining of the season.

Arsenal booked their place in the final on Tuesday after defeating Atlético Madrid 1-0 to complete a 2-1 aggregate victory.

A week after turning back more celebrated rivals, Tristan Padilla on Wednesday nailed down a second straight boys’ 15-18 title in the Junior PGT, but this came in a more authoritative manner that left no doubt the first one wasn’t a fluke.

Closing out with a two-under-par 70, the 17-year-old playing out of Manila Southwoods in Carmona tallied a 54-hole 212 for a staggering 16-shot victory in the ICTSI Splendido Hills Championship over Philippine team mainstay Shinichi Suzuki.

Padilla, though, wants to keep getting better.

“There’s still a lot of room for improvement, and I’ll keep working on that,” said Padilla, a De La Salle-Zobel student who crashed the John Hay party in Baguio last week, where Suzuki and US school recruit Charles Serdenia were supposed to dominate.

“These back-to-back wins show that I can compete at a high level. I’ve been focusing on making the most of every opportunity, and that’s really helped me these past two weeks.”

Lisa Sarines also waltzed her way to a convincing win with a final round 69, good for an 18-shot win over twin sister Mona that avenged a stinging lopsided defeat last week at John Hay in Baguio.

It was the second victory in the circuit this year for Lisa, but despite that, she has thrown caution to the girls’ 15-18 division that she’s far from being satisfied.

“This isn’t the best I can be yet. I’m always working to get better every day, every round,” said Lisa Sarines. “This win means a lot because it boosts my confidence.”

Derek Dooley has traded his coaching headset for a suit and American flag pin. Last fall, the former Tennessee head coach mounted a bid for one of Georgia’s U.S. Senate seats in this year’s high-stakes midterm elections.

Dooley said he plans to be “the last man standing” after the primary and the general election. He is leaning on leadership skills developed during his coaching career — primarily in the Southeastern Conference — as he continues his pitch to undecided voters. His time in the SEC also allowed him to build relationships with Nick Saban and Kirby Smart.

Over a decade under Smart, Georgia has reached three College Football Playoff national championship games, winning consecutive titles in 2021 and 2022. Yet that success has at times been overshadowed by off-field headlines, particularly speeding-related incidents involving players — at least one of which resulted in a fatality.

“The best thing Kirby has done is he’s won a lot of games,” Dooley told Fox News Digital Tuesday in an exclusive sitdown interview.

“I worked with Coach Smart at two different locations. I’ve known him for a long time and I have a tremendous amount of respect for what he’s doing for the program. But when you’re dealing with young people and young people make mistakes. I’m very confident that Coach Smart is teaching them the right values and teaching them how to act right and has a disciplinary system that corrects that behavior.”

Dooley continued, noting that athletics serves as a vehicle for instilling values in young adults and introducing preventive measures to help them avoid decisions that could negatively affect their futures. “That’s what athletics is good for … And at some point there’s only so much you can do, but I’m very confident in what Coach Smart is doing, and I know Georgia fans love the success we’ve had over the last few years.”

Dooley and Smart worked together as assistants at LSU beginning in 2003 under then-head coach Nick Saban. Dooley last coached in 2023 as a senior offensive analyst at Alabama, again working on a staff led by Saban.

In 2024, then-starting linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. and offensive tackle Bo Hughley were arrested on separate misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, booking records from the Athens-Clarke County Sheriff’s Office showed at the time. The Philadelphia Eagles selected Mondon in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Please understand this: I’m defending the program, but I’m not defensive,” Smart told reporters at SEC media days in 2024. “I am going to stand up for my program because we have good kids in our locker room. We gotta do a better job.” Smart also confirmed that Georgia’s NIL collective had begun issuing fines to players as punishment.

Those incidents surfaced more than a year after Devin Willock and recruiting staff member Chandler LeCroy were killed in a car crash in 2023. Then-Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter was driving with a suspended license during the night of that fatal wreck in Athens, Georgia. Carter was later charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and racing. He pleaded no contest in March 2023 and was sentenced to 12 months of probation, a $1,000 fine and community service. He was also required to attend a state-approved defensive driving course.

Carter’s attorney, Kim Stephens, said in a statement that her client’s actions did not cause the January 2023 crash. Police alleged the SUV LeCroy was driving raced Carter’s vehicle in the moments leading up to the crash.

In March 2025, multiple Georgia players, including wide receiver Nitro Tuggle and offensive lineman Marques Easley, were indefinitely suspended by Smart. Last November, another offensive lineman, Nyier Daniels, was dismissed from the team following a high-speed, police-involved chase. Daniels allegedly drove more than 150 mph while attempting to flee police in Commerce, Georgia.

Weighing the federal government’s role in college sports

Name, image and likeness (NIL) has become a hotly debated issue across Georgia and the broader college landscape.

As federal lawmakers weigh a greater role in regulating college athletics — a topic highlighted by former President Donald Trump’s recent “Saving College Sports” roundtable at the White House — Dooley cautioned against congressional intervention, arguing the NCAA should be given room to address its own challenges.

“Everybody should really care about (this issue). You’re looking at a guy whose been involved in athletics my whole life. I’ve seen what college athletics does, not just football, college athletics as whole does for young people. A lot of the values that it teaches, hard work, teamwork, accountability, personal responsibility, discipline (and) overcoming adversity. … I don’t not believe Congress should go in and try to fix college athletics…. We know what their track record is on that. But the NCAA does need some protection, we’ve got to give them a chance to fix themselves.”

Pivot from football to politics

Later this month, Georgia voters will decide which Republican candidate will advance to a likely June runoff, with the winner joining Independent candidates in the general election to face incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga.

Dooley is among the Republican candidates in the race. He explained to Fox News Digital why he believes the timing is right to shift his focus from the gridiron to the political arena.

“I’ve (had) a 28-year career coaching football and just loved the impact you made on young people every day from all walks of life. And I was all in, never looked up for air and thought I was going to do that my whole career,” Dooley said. “But two things really happened… it started really after COVID and what happened under the last administration. I started seeing things in our country that I thought I’d never see in my lifetime, and it jarred me a little bit. It made me want to really get more engaged.”

Dooley’s father, the late Vince Dooley, was the legendary coach and former athletic director at Georgia. Vince Dooley coached Georgia to the 1980 national championship, a team on which All-American Herschel Walker was the standout running back. Walker won the Heisman Trophy in 1982.

He added: “As I became more engaged, I realized Congress had changed. Not working for the people the way it used to. We’ve always had a lot of passionate debate, a lot of bitter disagreement. We always will and that’s okay. But at some point serious leadership would get in a room, we’d work together for the people and keep the ball moving forward for our country. That’s just not happening today.”

Georgia’s midterm primary election is scheduled for May 19. If no candidate receives a majority of the vote, the top two vote-getters will advance to a June 16 runoff.

The Golden State forward started going at it with Charles Barkley as the Mound Round of Rebound poked fun at the sinking ship that is the Warriors dynasty.

The tension started when Sir Charles decided to eulogize the Dubs while looking Green dead in the eye.

“It’s over for the Warriors. No disrespect. It ends for every old team,” Barkley said.

“You had your run; you get old; you let Klay go. You and Steph are on the backside of your careers; it just passed you by.”

Barkley kept his foot on the gas.

While he gave the Warriors credit for “one of the greatest runs ever,” he made it clear that Father Time remains undefeated in the paint.

“Sports … listen, sports are for young people,” Barkley added. “You hope to have a great long career, but sports … nobody wins when they’re 37, 38.”

In predictable fashion, Draymond was unable to stomach the banter.

He waited for the opening and went for the jugular, referencing Barkley’s infamous sunset years in Texas.

“Yeah, I mean, I think the goal is just to not look like you in the Houston Rockets uniform,” Green fired back.

The jab was a direct hit on Barkley’s ring-chasing era in Houston, where the Hall of Famer was famously a shell of his MVP self.

Green then shifted into a rare moment of veteran self-awareness and admitted the Warriors are in a transitional phase, but insisted the pedigree matters more than the box score.

“I think understanding what is success at this point is key for us,” Green explained. “Knowing and understanding that it may not be realistic to win a championship, but can we continue to build to that so that once we leave this organization, it’s still in a great space?”

Despite Draymond’s talk about maintaining a winning pedigree, this year was a harsh wake-up call for the Golden State faithful.

The Warriors’ season went out with a whimper as they finished 10th in the West and were bounced immediately in the play-in tournament.

Barkley might think the light is fading, but Draymond is clearly going to keep swinging on his way out.

Rue agrees to become an informant. This is a big change. This choice means that she is always being watched. Her phone has been changed so that it may be monitored, and she has been told to keep in touch with drug dealers while also giving information to federal authorities.
