Conor McGregor has confirmed his intention to run for president in Ireland whilst sporting a “Make Ireland Great Again” hat received during his White House visit.
The announcement comes just three days after former US President Donald Trump branded the controversial fighter his “favourite Irishman” during their meeting in the Oval Office.
The MMA fighter announced his bid with an image of himself standing in front of a private jet, wearing a vest and holding one of his four children.
The sportsman has been adamant about his political ambitions, claiming on several occasions that he wants to “save” Ireland.

His confirmation came whilst blasting the EU Migration Pact on Thursday.
McGregor stated that Ireland has until June 12, 2026, to implement the EU Migration Pact, which aims to streamline migration and asylum across the European Union.
The fighter declared he would oppose the agreement if elected president.
“The next presidential election must take place by 11 Nov 2025,” McGregor wrote in his post challenging the pact.
“Who else will stand up to Government and oppose this bill?” McGregor questioned in his announcement.

The fighter claimed he would take a “democratic” approach by allowing the public to vote on the pact in a referendum.
“Although I oppose greatly this pact, it is neither mine nor governments choice to make. It is the people of Irelands choice! Always!” he declared. “That is a true democracy!”
McGregor’s presidential bid follows his comments claiming “Ireland is on the cusp of losing its Irishness” due to what he termed an “illegal immigration racket”.

These remarks were made just days before his White House visit with Trump.
During his White House press conference, McGregor praised Trump’s work ethic as “inspiring” whilst describing the relationship between their nations.
“So we wish for our relationship with the United States to continue, and we wish to be taken care of by the big bro,” the fighter stated.
“The United States should look after its little bro. And that’s how we feel.”
