» Cristiano Ronaldo sends 10-word message after goal celebration stolen in Portugal defeat to Denmark

Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted with 10 words on social media after Portugal’s 1-0 defeat to Denmark last night.

Roberto Martinez’s side entered the contest hoping to take control of their Nations League quarter-final tie.

That didn’t happen, however, with Manchester United hitman Rasmus Hojlund netting the only goal of the game.

Hojlund then decided to mimic Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Siu’ celebration to rub salt into the 40-year-old’s wounds.

Ronaldo, writing on social media, has now broken his silence on Portugal’s defeat – with the Al-Nassr star refusing to give up on his dream of a third international trophy.

“We have 90 minutes to turn around. Roll on Portugal!” said the veteran.

Fans on Instagram have got behind Ronaldo, with many supporters convincing the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Sporting Lisbon star can be the difference in the second leg.

“Comeback soon. Vamoooos,” said one user.

Hojlund has endured his fair share of criticism this season amid his inconsistent form for United.

With two goals in his last two matches for club and country, however, it appears as though the former Atalanta star is starting to turn a corner.

Hojlund was asked about his decision to copy Ronaldo’s celebration following the match in Denmark.

And the 22-year-old has insisted he didn’t mean any disrespect and that his actions were meant as a tribute.

“Now I’m not going to exaggerate, but Cristiano is everything to me,” he told Danish outlet DR.

“I fell in love with football because of Cristiano, I became a Manchester United fan because of Cristiano.

“I started self-training because of Cristiano, I started doing push-ups and sit-ups every day before I went to bed, because of Cristiano, because I wanted to be Cristiano.”

He then added: “It’s for my idol.

“It’s not like I’m mocking him or anything.

“I’ve just always said that he has a lot of importance to me and my football career.

“It’s maybe a bit ambivalent, but scoring against him and Portugal is huge. I was there and saw him in 2009 when he scored from a free kick and I’ve been a fan ever since.”
