Billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has claimed that the latest release of the Epstein files is “nothing but a distraction” if there are no arrests made in the case.
In an X post dated January 31, Elon Musk quoted another X post that called him the “loudest public voice” demanding the release of the Epstein files. The Tesla CEO wrote:
“What matters is not release of some subset of the Epstein files, but rather the prosecution of those who committed heinous crimes with Epstein. When there is at least one arrest, some justice will have been done. If not, this is all performative. Nothing but a distraction.”
Musk’s comments came after the US Department of Justice released 3.5 million additional files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on Friday, January 30. The files include major new details that have been under discussion on social media, and they also mention several high-profile personalities, including Elon Musk himself.
For those unaware, Jeffrey Epstein was convicted of multiple counts of child s*x offences in 2008. He was in jail when he allegedly killed himself in 2019, while awaiting trial for additional charges related to child s*xual abuse. Over the last few months, multiple celebrities have been named in the Epstein documents, although no arrests have been made.
Elon Musk responds after his emails with Jeffrey Epstein were mentioned in latest release of Epstein files

In the new set of Epstein files released on January 30, multiple emails between Elon Musk and Jeffrey Epstein came to light. It is worth noting that Musk has not been charged with any crimes related to Epstein. These alleged emails included Musk seemingly asking to visit Epstein’s island to the email id jeevacation@gmail.com, which was Epstein’s email.
In an X post dated January 31, Elon Musk clarified being named in the Epstein files, claiming he was the one who pushed for them to be released. In a response to an X user, he wrote:
“No one pushed harder than me to have the Epstein files released and I’m glad that has finally happened. I had very little correspondence with Epstein and declined repeated invitations to go to his island or fly on his ‘Lolita Express’, but was well aware that some email correspondence with him could be misinterpreted and used by detractors to smear my name.”
He added:
“I don’t care about that, but what I do care about is that we at least attempt to prosecute those who committed serious crimes with Epstein, especially regarding heinous exploitation of underage girls.”
Elon Musk has also repeatedly called for arrests in relation to Jeffrey Epstein, asking his clients to be prosecuted. The latest documents include the mention of several imminent personalities, including Steve Tisch, Bill Gates, and US President Donald Trump, among others. Rapper Jay-Z and filmmaker Harvey Weinstein were also named in the files. However, none of them have been charged with any crimes related to Jeffrey Epstein.
As of writing, Epstein’s longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, is serving a 20-year prison sentence. She was found guilty in 2021 of charges of recruiting women and transporting them to the Epstein island.
The US Department of Justice has mentioned the latest release to be the last release of the Epstein files, including multiple videos and photos.
