Chest workouts are a waste of time and effort…
… at least in the way that a lot of people do them by putting chest as the top priority in their bodybuilding plan and mindlessly cranking out set after set after set of a million different chest press and chest fly variations.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking the pecs are this massive muscle group that require a ton of volume and that building a bigger chest is the ultimate key to an impressive physique.
The truth is that the pecs only contain slightly more total mass than the traps, the lats, even the triceps, and it’s actually the delts that are the largest upper body muscle group and that’ll probably play the most important role in giving you that stronger more muscular appearance.
By all means go and make those chest gains, but you really shouldn’t need any more than 3-4 different chest exercises in your program at any one time and if you’re truly lifting hard and progressively, around 10-12 total weekly sets should be sufficient as an upper volume limit in most cases.

I only do 2 chest exercises, and thats totally fine. Its not a weak part of mine
Yeah, I've been doing all of that for years, and still no definition. It's beyond irritating, except for the oil. Definitely not doing the oil injections

Yeah a lot of the hottest women in dance date or are married to people outside of the dance scene. Unless they want to go so OTT with how they dress and the reduction in personal space that their non dancing boyfriend “just doesn’t get understand”. Then they date a fellow dancer. Yup for me all I do is regular bench press and incline and decline and that’s good enough for me
And heres me, only doing 3-8 weekly sets
Triceps are larger than pecs
Chest is Aportent because you want to attest to hight reps in chest to fill it out
I do press and pec dec. Works very well.
I only do two for each muscle group 2 times a week and I’ve got great gains from it each with no more than 8 total sets for each per session
Just to be a contrarian, most people have underdeveloped or unimpressive pecs while it’s not too difficult to build a nice set of shoulders. I would argue having thick well rounded pecs with upper lower inner and outer development that really stick out 3D in a shirt is an instant way for a physique to stand out even if nothing else is super impressive.
Also want to caveat that in surveys women have consistently rated chest the most attractive if not among the most attractive groups.
So this is me playing devils advocate for spamming chest volume LOL
But agree with Sean, rear delt neglect (which I am very guilty of) and side delt neglect are real phenomenons and will hurt the physique
You’re way better off having big delts and a flat chest than tiny delts and tig ol bitties
I've been guilty of overtraining my chest. It's refreshing to hear someone challenge the typical bodybuilding mindset. Time to switch it up a bit.

Bench press pyramid sets last two to failure (my last ones are 50kg and 60kg)
And machine flys Dropset two sets to failure
I mean, delts are weak AF compared to the chest, so… Well, at least in my case.

"10-12 as an upper limit" you probably need less than that too. 6-16 reps is the MAV for pecs, so a lot of people(me) do better between 6-9(hard) sets a week.
