Get the details behind HYROX’s new season format.
HYROX will be changing the qualification rules for the 2025/26 season, limiting the qualifying spots available for the World Championships to athletes competing in the Pro Division only.
The fitness racing brand announced this major change to the World Championship Qualification System last week in a press release and shared additional information. It’s important to note that it will not impact the current 2024/25 season.
The details: Qualifying for HYROX World Championships will be limited to athletes in the Pro Division only.
- An exception is the 60+ age division. Athletes in the Open division in that age bracket will still be able to qualify.
- The other exception involves HYROX Open Championships (European, US, and Asian-Pacific), which will still offer Worlds qualification slots for age group champions.
This new provision goes into effect starting with the HYROX Singapore race on June 28, 2025.
- Athletes who have already registered in the Open Division for any of the 2025/26 season races can switch to the Pro Division for free.
What they’re saying: “While HYROX is still a sport for everybody, this change is simply to manage the huge demand for spots and ensure that the HYROX World Championships continues to bring together the best HYROX athletes in the world,” Moritz Fürste, HYROX co-founder, said in a press release.
- The sport continues to grow rapidly in popularity, with an expected one million athletes racing globally in 2026. The change stems from some astounding finishing times, including new world records, and updating the qualification system reflects this growth, according to Fürste.
One last thing: The 2024/25 World Championships is just over two months away and will be held in Chicago starting on June 12, 2025.
