» Why Your Shoulder Pain is Coming from Your NECK – Tips and Stretches

In this video, we discuss the phenomenon of patients experiencing shoulder, arm, or lower neck pain and why it could be coming from the neck. We see this regularly in the clinic where the patient may not be having any symptoms in the neck itself, however they do have a loss of motion that is contributing to the pain they are feeling lower down in the shoulder or arm.

At the beginning, we’ll show you how to test yourself just by filming on your phone and then we’ll go over the movements that should restore any lost range of motion in your neck.

  1. We hope this helps people with shoulder pain that is not improving. It is not uncommon to have isolated shoulder pain that is coming from the neck. We have seen this after shoulder surgery and in cases of rotator cuff tears, labral tears, and shoulder arthritis. A good examination of the cervical spine is extremely important before assuming you have an isolated shoulder issues.
